Finn's POV Two weeks before thanksgiving

At first glance I knew she was it for me. I knew she was my soul mate. Yes it took a few bumps along the way but we eventually found our way back to each other. It was hard the first time we had to separate… putting her on the train was probably the hardest thing I could've done. It was as if my heart was being ripped out of my chest as I watched the train go into the distance. I was completely lost for the next couple of days. I had to push myself to the airport, even harder was not trying to go to New York instead of Georgia. Having puck there did help a bit as the time went on, but it wasn't the same. He wasn't Rachel...he wasn't my soul mate; he was just my best friend who helped me hold onto the past and hope for the future.

Flashback 6 years ago

Sitting outside I waited for my body to move to the car. Today I was giving up everything to prove that I was a real man for Rachel. I was hopeful that she'd wait for me. I mean I didn't expect her to, but I wanted her to because I loved her beyond words. "You know eventually you have to move over to the taxi so we can go." Looking up I saw Puck standing there with bags while in full uniform. "You thought I'd let you go alone?"

"What about Quinn?" I asked knowing how hard it was going to be for me, I mean I wasn't even with Rachel and I was going to miss her more than I could breathe. I was curious to know how he was going to deal with it since they were dating.

"Quinn is planning on moving to go to school anyway, I promised her I'd come back to her. I want her forever Finn, I just need to prove it to both of us."

Slowly I stood up and grabbed my bags. "Quinn will kill me if anything happens to you, you know that right?"

Laughing he looked back at me. "Rachel will have my neck if something happened to you, so let's just promise that neither of us dies or gets severely injured that way we don't have to deal with our mothers nor girlfriends/ex-fiancé kills the other." We both laughed as we got to the taxi and drove off to the airport…

Two years later

I was drafted to take Mark one of my soldiers back to New York for his burial. It was such a tough thing to do, not just the fact that I had to attend to another funeral, but the say day after the funeral Rachel was opening her first Broadway show. Part of me wanted to see her and hold her, to ask her for forgiveness, but I knew it better than anyone that seeing her and then leaving was going to be counterproductive. As I sat in the plane my 100th letter to Rachel, yet it was another letter she'd probably never see…

Dear Rachel,

I just wanted to say for the millionth time that I miss you. I never thought we'd be separated like this. It's probably the most painful thing I've ever experienced before. I want to come home to you someday. That's probably the only thing keeping me from becoming a mindless army freak. I'm on my way to New York, I'm debating if I should go to you and see you preform. But in the back of my head I'm curious to know if it's such a good plan. I don't want to make this harder on either of us. It's painful to know you're living your life somewhere in New York, only to know I'm not part of it. We're going to land soon, I love you Rachel.

Always yours
Finn Hudson

Folding up the letter I sighed. "You look a little sad." I looked next to me to see a young woman staring at me. "I know that look, longing for a love?" Nodding I put the letter into my army jacket. "I'm sorry for bothering you, you just looked so sad, I just detest sadness."

"No it's fine, I was just thinking was all." I extended my hand slowly. "Finn Hudson."

"Brittany…It's nice to meet you Finn Hudson. What's troubling you?" She asked. I don't know what it was about her but I relaxed a bit and began to explain everything that has happened the last few years. "So you guys just ended things? You put her on the train and now you are in the army?"

"Yup, I guess that sums it all up. I just miss her you know, but it's not meant to be I guess."

"Fairytales aren't just in books, they're base on our reality. My family taught me that. You can't give up so easily. But what brought it up the sudden sadness."

"She's in New York and I don't know if I should see her. I promised her years ago when we were in high school that nothing would stop me from seeing her preform. I just don't know if it's safe for us to see each other again."

"You know if you don't take a chance you'll never know. I mean you don't have to see her if it's too painful, maybe just go and see her in her moment. If you guys are anything like me and Evan, you'll find your way back to each other. I mean I hope so, for us it's still a work in progress." She looked down at her lap then looks back at me. "Take this, do what you want with it. Follow your heart because that's the only way you'll find the decision you really want." Smiling she hands me a ticket. "Rachel Berry is worth a front row ticket." She smiled before putting her headphones back in.

The day of the funeral I sighed thinking about the girl from the plane. She was right and I knew I needed to see Rachel as soon as I could. Nodding off I said my goodbyes to Mark's parents before quickly getting into a taxi. I didn't want to be late. As the show began I watched in a daze. I was so proud of her. She had finally reached her dream of becoming her own star. When the show finally concluded I wasn't shocked to see everyone there, which was why I decided against seeing Rachel. I didn't think it was the best idea to just leave her again. It was too hard to disappoint her…

End Flashback

Honestly it was weird sitting here thinking about the entire struggle we had to overcome before getting to this place. If it wasn't for the girl from the plane I wouldn't have gather up enough courage to see Rachel again. And just simply were back in a good place. She was here, living with me and I was preparing for the big proposal. My only wish was I could find the right song, words, maybe poem to make this her dream proposal. Sitting there in my office I zoned in on my personal thoughts I didn't hear anyone walking in. "So are we going to lunch or sitting in?" Smiling I looked up at my future wife. "I'll even let you pick the place this time."

"How did I get so lucky to pick the place?" Watching the blush form made me smile wider. "I'm thinking you could pick and I'll buy."

"Now I know I'm the lucky one. I needed to ask if you wanted to do Thanksgiving at home, or at your moms. My dad is going to be there since you know it's the first one without—"

"I was thinking we can do it at my moms." I knew the next couple of holidays were going to be rough especially Christmas. "That way you don't worry about the cooking. We'll bring a cake or something."

"Finn Christopher Hudson, I can cook a mean Mac and cheese." Smiling she pushed me slightly as we walked to my car. I was becoming very proud of how calm my future wife was while at school. She wasn't as sad as she was months ago. Now Rachel was able to come to work and be around the kids in glee as long as they weren't in the classroom; unfortunately, it was still a little bit of a touchy subject for her to go back there.

As we drove to lunch she held my hand with a beautiful smile flashing across her face I couldn't help but smile myself. She was finally relaxed and happy again. And in all honestly that's what mattered to me most. She was finally at peace again and it made this proposal that much more special. "I love you Rachel."

"I love you Finn Hudson." Rachel smiled looking back up at me. "She wants to start looking for wedding dresses, though last time I checked she was wearing her aunts white and blue wedding dress. I feel like she's trying to torture just me." OH I knew this; I had asked Quinn to distract Rachel for a few hours so I could go over and practice a few song ideas before Thanksgiving. "See these are the moments I wish she still hated me. I just want to be home with you and sleeping in our bed naked."

I knew exactly what she was trying to do. Rachel Berry always tried to avoid doing things and going somewhere by bribing me with sex. I needed to stay calm and not jump her bones as we drove to the restaurant. "Rachel… That isn't fair and you know that more than anything I want to be alone with you but Quinn has told us that she needs help with everything and it wouldn't be fair to leave her alone." Pulling up to a space I turned to her with a smile as she pouted. "Baby when you get home I promise you can still nap naked if you so choose."

A smile rose as I helped her outta the car. We made our way through the restaurant and sat by the window. Both of us quickly ordered as the waitress came around. After what seemed like hours Rachel looked at me with a nervous smile. "So I was thinking that we could maybe use the money my dad's splitting with me for the house to maybe buy one of our own. I mean, I just want a place to start new."

I couldn't hide the beaming smile I flashed looking at him. "I like the idea, I was thinking somewhere near my parents since your dad is going to be moving again. That way when we have kids we'll have my mom to help us with our little angels."

"Finn Hudson, you are thinking a bit too ahead." She looked down eating her salad. And this everyone is where we were on different pages. Rachel on one hand was terrified to try again; she didn't want to lose another baby. But for me I wanted a family with Rachel, and I trusted in faith that we could get through this and have that baby we've wanted.

"Rachel Berry, you're in need of some anti-denial meds. I want that family and we're going to have it baby. Soon." She smiled holding my gaze. "I mean it Rachel. Don't be surprise if we find out you're pregnant soon, cause I will make sure that will happen." Touching her face I could see she was coming around a bit.

After lunch I took her back to work, it was strange my heart was racing with happiness watching her smile. It was as if I hadn't seen her beautiful smile for a long time, it was as if we finally could breathe, it was the best feeling in the world. Before we separated I quickly kissed her softly. "Mr. Hudson, you're going to get us caught by the principle. Do you think Quinn would be mad if I got detention and couldn't go with her?" Rachel asked.

I kissed her one more time before looking at her. "Get to class Ms. Berry before we get expelled." She giggled kissing me one more time before we both went to our offices.

The week of Thanksgiving Third person POV

It was the week of Thanksgiving and Finn was sitting in the auditorium with his Glee club. He was extremely stressful trying to come up with something to spark some kind of inspiration for his club and find the right song for the proposal. "So, what songs do you guys want to sing?"

One girl who reminded Finn of Rachel raised her hand nervously "Maybe something romantic like a duet, I mean… It worked for you guys right?"

Finn smiled remembering every duet he sang with Rachel. "You know what Marley you're right. Hold that thought." Getting up he walked down the hall to Rachel's office. "Hey you got time for a quick lesson?"

"Now a glee lesson or a trying to conceive another baby lesson?" She knew Finn's codes for stupid things like sex. "Because I'm in the middle of finalizing plans for Thanksgiving before I talk to your mom, so no time for sex."

"Ha-ha, no I need to borrow you for a glee lesson. I was thinking of showing the club how a real duet is performed, up for it beautiful?"

"Finn Hudson, you always know how to bring a smile to my face. I'd love to sing with you baby." She blushed putting her papers away before walking down the hall with Finn. "So what song shall we sing?"

"The one that made you see how I really felt about you." Rachel's eyes locked with his. She couldn't hide the happiness that was flowing through her. For Rachel this was the song that made her really see them in a different light, it made her see what he had been trying to tell her for weeks leading up to their competition; He just wanted her to see the love he had for her wasn't just minimal but in a category in its own.

"Finn, I think that's the perfect song for them." Smiling they re-entered the auditorium. "Hey guys." Everyone waved to the co-Director of glee.

Finn smiled softly looking at his club "I want you guys to see what a great first place song looks like. This song has a deep meaning of love between two people and when the judges heard the song it made them see the love story that is created through song." Nodding over to the piano guy Finn stared back at Rachel. "Highway run, into the midnight sun. Wheels go 'round and 'round you're on my mind."

Rachel smiled softly stepping down the steps backwards looking up at Finn. "Restless hearts, Sleep alone tonight. Sendin' all my love along the wire."

Finn followed as they made their way to the stage. "They say that the road ain't no place to start a family. Right down the line it's been you and me. And lovin' a music man ain't always what it's supposed to be."

"Oh boy, you stand by me..."

Rachel touched his hand softly as they joined together "I'm forever yours—faithfully." This song brought back so many memories some that made the song flow in a deeper meaning then the usual words "Circus life, under the big top world."

Both knew the words without music sheets, it was their song more than anyone else's. This was the first time Finn ever told her he loved her. "We all need the clowns to make us smile."

Rachel touched face softly happily. "Oooh…Through space and time—" He repeated touching her arm softly. "Through space and time—."

Finn poured his heart out as they sang together. It was just like old times. "Always another show, wondering where I am—Lost without you. And being apart ain't easy on this love affair. Two strangers learn to fall in love again. I get the joy of rediscovering you..."

Finn closed his eyes reaching deep inside of him "Oh girl, you stand by me."

Repeating the end of their favorite saying Rachel tried to hold back the tears she was feeling. "I'm forever yours— faithfully."

"Oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh" The New Direction continued to sway with them as the two of them joined at the hands and locked eyes. "OH, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh."

Rachel tried but failed as the tears dripped outta her eyes as she held the last high note "I'm still yours."

"Oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh..."

Ending the song they locked their eyes deep and moved closer as only an inch away from kissing. "I'm still yours—faithfully." They slowly kissed as the club began to clap and shouted happy sayings up at the loving couple.

"Wow that was amazing." Marley smiled softly. It was addicting the love they had between them. "It was as if you two were singing to each other. It was beautiful."

Finn smiled taking his future wife's hand, this was exactly what he wanted to show his glee club. He needed them to see the chemistry and devotion that two people could express through song. "It in this moment we shared something with the crowd. We showed them our small story through song. We gained their attention by the powerful message in our song." Rachel couldn't hold back the blush that came across her face. "The song you pick is the one that you have to put as much passion and devotion that you lead your friends to victory."

Nodding everyone gathered up all their stuff and began to exit the auditorium. "Do you remember sitting here years ago and kissing for the first time." Rachel asked once they were alone. "To be here now and thinking about the 8 plus years that have passed it's a shock to the system."

Smirking Finn walked back to the spot. "Something like this?" moving the curtain back he revealed the picnic placed in the exact same spot that they once kissed at.

Sitting down Rachel smiled beamed up at him. "Are you going to run away this time?" She asked remembering the first time they kissed here. She never did understand why he left so fast. "Because if so I'm going to make this kiss count this time."

"Are you giving me permission?" He asked looking at him.

"Finn you can kiss me if you want to." She said quoting her famous lines from years ago. Without hesitation Finn kissed her deeply as she laid back against the blanket and pillows. He could feel the blood rush to his erection. Even as he tried to think of something that could counter the thoughts he came up empty handed. Sighing he slowly pulled away from the kiss. "Baby we need to wait till we get home. I don't want either of us to lose our jobs. Personally I actually like coming to work with you." Nodding Finn looked back at her with a huge smile. "What?" she asked.

"I just really love you Rachel. I don't want you to ever forget that you're everything to me and more."

"Finn Hudson you're a big cheese ball, but I love you." She giggled kissing his lips softly. "I'll see you when you get home." She slowly got up and looked down at him on his one knee. "Something you don't see every day huh?"

Realizing what she meant he quickly stood up. "Now look at whose being silly." He tried to brush it off as she looked at me. "I'll see you tonight I've got a few things to do before I go home." Nodding she kissed him softly before leaving the auditorium. Standing there alone he began to think of the actual proposal and how much thought he was attempting to put into it. Knowing that the week was going to be creeping up to him, Finn decided to get the help of their friends. If he was about to step up and make this the biggest and grandest plan to make Rachel his wife.

Two days before Thanksgiving Rachel was beginning to feel a big distance between the two of them. Finn was staying late at school and sometimes didn't get home till late. She was becoming more suspicious when she started noticing more and more that he was hiding something when he changed his password to his laptop. Looking at the clock she noticed it was 11:30pm when she finally heard the door open, attempting to be quiet Finn put his stuff away and went to the kitchen to make something to eat. "Who is she?" Rachel asked stepping from behind the wall. "Tell me that we're not doing the same thing we did in High School…"

"What are you talking about Rachel?" he asked setting the stuff down. "Rachel I'm not cheating on you."

"But you've becoming home for the last few nights later than an average person. Yesterday you were distant and I remember this feeling when you and Santana went out…"

Finn looked at his future bride's eyes as tears dripped down. He was going to have to hold out the reason behind the late nights for a specific reason. "Rachel, haven't I proven to you that you're it for me. I only love you, I would never cheat on you."

"Then tell me where you were. Before you even try to use anyone as an excuse I know you haven't been with Kurt or your parents Puck said you haven't been by either. So I'm asking you one more time where have you been these late nights?"

"Rachel, I need you to trust me. I haven't stepped out on you I could never…" Shaking her head she walked upstairs. Sighing Finn bit his lip resting his body on the couch in the living room. Getting out his phone he quickly texted Santana and Quinn. She thinks I'm cheating on her. Great…Trying to plan the perfect proposal and my girlfriend thinks I'm cheating…

Santana was the first to text back. Maybe we push it till tomorrow, I mean we have everything ready and the song is picked out, so what's stopping you from doing it tomorrow. I just think it'll save her heart ache. You have the tickets so just push it and do it tomorrow.

Finn nodded and was confirmed by Quinn that it was a good idea. Getting up he walked upstairs to their room and saw Rachel crying in their bed. "I need you to pack a bag, were going somewhere." Rachel shook her head. "I'm going to show you why I've been having late nights."

Rachel hesitantly walked and grabbed a few things before following him out to the car. "Where are we going at Midnight Finn?" Saying nothing Finn drove until they reached the train station. Rachel was faced with deep anxiety. She couldn't help but feel the same feeling she felt the same feeling she felt years ago. "I'm not doing this again Finn Hudson. This is a sick joke."

"Let's go." Parking the car he got out the car and opened the door for her. "Rachel, trust me…" again hesitantly she followed him to the train station. It was weird there was no one here but the two of them. "About 5 and half years ago I made the biggest mistake and put you on this train, but the worst part was I didn't get on it with you. Well this time Rachel. I'm getting on this train at midnight going anywhere with you." Helping her up onto the platform she was shocked to see two conductors holding a purple flower in their hand which they handed her before Finn led her onto the train. "Just sit back Rachel and we're going to your surprise."

Three hours later Rachel opened her sleepy eyes to find the train had stopped. Looking around she noticed they were at New York's Union Station. "Finn what are we doing here?"

Saying nothing he quickly took her and their luggage to the car that awaited them outside the station. Rachel didn't say anything but could've sworn she saw her friends pass them as they drove along to where ever they were going. Finn's heart was going through different paces as they drove to the location. The last few months he had been helping the conductors at Lima train station in order for them to let them use the train this late at night. For two months Quinn and Santana had to call around favors in order for Finn to get the stage he needed for the big surprise. "I need you to put this on please." He held out the blindfold before he put it over her eyes. After about 20 more minutes she realized the car had stopped. Getting out first Finn thanked the driver then helped Rachel out ta the car and into the auditorium. "Rachel, I'm going to remove the blindfold but I need you to keep your eyes closed." Nodding he removed the blindfold then walked behind the curtain and after changing quickly he returned to center stage. "Okay you can open your eyes now."

Looking around Rachel instantly knew exactly where she was. It was where she had performed Funny Girl for two years. Her eyes landed on Finn, he had changed since the train. Something about the outfit reminded her of something. "Finn why did you bring me back here?"

"Seven plus years ago, I wrote you a song. We sang it here and I fell in love with you all over again. This is the place where I should've told you I was fighting the across seas for you. This is where our history began again, I need to show you and express to you the way I love you Rachel Berry through ups and downs. I do love you with every ounce of me, you're the only one I want and need in this life and I know it's been rough but I hope you see that I'm in it for the long run."

Looking over at the other curtain as the music began slowly. "This is my love song to you. Let every woman know I'm yours. So you can fall asleep each night, babe and know I'm dreaming of you more." Finn locked eyes slowly as Rachel stared up at him. "You're always hoping that we make it, you always want to keep my gaze. Well you're the only one I see love and that's the one thing that won't change."

Slowly she heard people walking down the aisles with squared cardboard pieces. "I will never stop trying, I will never stop watching as you leave, I will never stop losing my breath. Every time I see you looking back at me and I will never stop holding your hand, I will never stop opening your door, I will never stop choosing you babe, I will never get used to you." Finn could feel his own tears falling down his face as he sang. Watching his friends and family slowly make their way to the stage made this moment a reality.

"And with this love song to you, it's not a momentary phase… You are my life, I don't deserve you, but you love me just the same. And as the mirror says we're older, I will not look the other way. You are my life, my love, my only and that's the one thing that won't change." He prayed that she'd understand that he was here, it wasn't just a stupid game to him. She was it for him, she was everything to him.

Puck, Artie, Sam, Kurt and Blaine smiled as they made their way down the aisle singing. "I will never stop trying, I will never stop watching as you leave, I will never stop losing my breath. Every time I see you looking back at me and I will never stop holding your hand, I will never stop opening your door, I will never stop choosing you babe, I will never get used to you."

As they continued to walked to Rachel. Her eyes were streaming with tears as he continued to sing. "You still get my heart racing….You still get my heart racing for you… You still get my heart racing…You still get my heart racing… For you." Pulling her up to the stage he put her hand over his chest letting her feel the heart beats.

"I will never stop trying, I will never stop watching as you leave, I will never stop losing my breath. Every time I see you looking back at me and I will never stop holding your hand, I will never stop opening your door, I will never stop choosing you babe, I will never get used to you." Taking her hand he slowly got down on one knee and smiled through his own tears. "Rachel Barbra Berry, you are the light that shines so bright, so strong that I don't know if I even deserve you. I made a mistake five and a half years ago. I will never stop loving the woman I left years ago, but I've fallen even more in love with the woman that is standing here in front of me. I know I've made many mistakes and I know it's taken us years to find our way back to each other, but I'm done pretending that I don't want to spend the rest of my life without you, I'm tired of having trouble breathing because there's no air without you here every day. I need you to remember that I can't stop loving you even if I tried. Last Christmas we found love one more time and I don't know about you, but I'm done wasting another moment… like I said at our first big competition I'm forever yours faithfully if you say yes." Pointing to the small sea of their friends, each holding up a letter spelling out M-A-R-R-Y M-E P-L-E-A-S-E-?

As tears continued to descend form her eyes she couldn't help but smile. "Yes, Yes I'll marry you Finn!"

Finn wasn't sure he heard her right when she first uttered the words. "You'll marry me?" When she nodded again he let out a sigh of relief as he engulfed her into a tight loving hug. "I love you…I love you!" he kept repeating as they held each other.

As everyone came up to the stage Finn opened up the ring box and slowly put on the diamond ring. It wasn't until Puck hugged her that she registered what was happening around them. It was perfect to have everyone here and helping Finn out with the proposal. "This is why I've been taking long nights. A friend of mine wanted to help." Slowly he looked behind the curtain and a familiar woman came walking up to the big group.

"Brittany?" Rachel knew the woman. How did Finn know her? "How do you know her?"

"She was the one who gave me the ticket to go see you opening night for Funny Girl. We've talked on and off but I ran into her in Lima a few weeks back and we got to talking and she said she'd help me make your proposal special. How do you know her?"

"I ran into her when I was visiting dad, she and I had a talk about a few things."

Brittany smiled softly looking at the loving couple. "I told you Rachel, you'd get your happy ending. Something our cousin and her sister always said…"

Rachel looked at her confused. "What?"

Mikayla smiled softly looking at the sweet girl "True love isn't only in fairytales, they're real life love stories. She'd be proud Britt."

"You guys are related?" Finn asked a bit confused.

"Don't ask… the point is both of you have been through so much, and if I could simply help you guys do something like this I don't mind doing what I gotta do to help." Brittany smiled. "I have arranged for you guys to spend Thanksgiving at a friend's house and all the food and what not is finished and just waiting for you guys tomorrow. For now, across the street I wanted to give you two a pre-wedding gift. So…" She hands Finn a card. "Enjoy the honeymoon suite." Smiling Brittany and the rest of the family left leaving the loving couple alone.

"Did you really go through all this trouble for just me?" She asked still wiping the tears out of her eyes. "I'm so sorry I accused you of cheating…I feel horrible."

"I don't care Rachel, I'm just happy you agreed to be my wife. I love you so much." Smiling he bent down and captured her lips into his. In this moment both of the lovers knew this was the beginning of forever and neither could wait for the big day so they could end this chapter and begin the family they both wanted to have.
