Note, I'm skipping a lot of flavor text and background info, I figure if you're reading a fan fiction about a book, then chances are you've read the book and know, at least in part, that information.

I own none of the characters, not even the OCs I made as they are part of the PJaO or Mercy Thompson books and anyone is free to duplicate them for their own stories. Writing a story using characters from published books, I certainly can't complain if someone likes my idea enough to run it in a different direction, but please, no slash.

Rick Riordan and Patricia Briggs own all characters.

Please Read This: This should be the last time I respond to reviews in the story notes as I've decided to create a forum for the discussion of stories. All crossover stories, not just my own, even stories I don't like will be allowed. I've made a thread to discuss this story and am placing comments on the reviews and welcome discussion on this, and hopefully many other stories.

Just be polite.

The forum is The Crossover Network; forum/The-Crossover-Network/163811/ with a link being found on my profile page. Please go there for all your crossover story needs and discussions.

And tell you friends who like crossovers as well. I truly want the forum to thrive, and not just be about my own stories.

Uh, We Were Dancing

Percy

This is actually pretty fun. I've never been one to dance before, but then again, I've never been to a dance with Annabeth before either. The nature of the setting also probably has some small impact as well, not only is the Palace of the Cascades absolutely beautiful, but being able to dance in three dimensions is a novel experience. I've only been to my dad's place a couple of times, and I've never had an opportunity to bring Annabeth or even just go to a dance there, so this is fun.

Unfortunately, we're not here just to dance and have fun. Like most social functions of nobility throughout the ages, it's about politics. We are of course introduced to the main spirits of the other major rivers in the area first. I like the Yakima, he has a dry wit that seems out of place here (pun intended). He looks like a cross between an Indian Medicine Man and life guard, and most importantly, seems found of the new Columbia. I'm not sure, but I think she was the spirit of a swimming hole somewhere near where the Yakima river meets the Columbia, but I'm not positive.

The Snake river spirit on the other hand looks like a cartoon rendition of a rattlesnake with legs and arms. And while he's upset that he didn't get the promotion to be head of the Columbia river, he seems to blame me rather than her, so I don't think she'll have much trouble from him.

The other minor river spirits however, are another story completely. The really minor spirits, those who were lower in rank than her in the first place are completely supportive of her jump in rank while those who thought themselves of higher rank than her before feel more than a little slighted by her jump over them. Complicating things further, on either side of the rank politics involved, there is a split in their views on humans and the bloody actions of the previous river spirit and the River Devil. This is creating a dangerous mix of politics were she might be required to lend support to a rival for her position in order to keep a spirit who might support her in check and prevent bloodshed. All the while having to deal with those who neither support her rank or views.

This is where I come in. As the person who promoted her, simply being here to show my continued support is a major boon. Most of the spirits know that the only reason she got the promotion was because she was the only spirit who was there at the time brave enough to come out of the river, something I like about her, but I have to continually reaffirm my support.

As someone who has the ability to not only command them, something my dad has never been able to do with freshwater spirits, but who also has the ability to kill them as well has thrown all their politics into chaos. Topping that off, in addition to the river spirits, she invited the spirits of all the local, and not so local geographical features, as well as several spirits of man and cities. The spirit of Richland is a little standoffish, but I don't know if that's a natural snobbishness on her part, or if it's a general concern for my actions and her welfare. While the spirit of Finley, where the Hauptman's (and as a result, us) live is a little over friendly and gregarious, though again, I'm not sure if that's his natural way or if he's using our living in his domain as a way to gain some rank himself. All the while, a minor spirit seems intent on being the one to insure my bloodline lives on, something Annabeth is sniggering about

Speaking of Annabeth, she is being chatty with the spirits of the Hanford Nuclear reservation and Mt. Rainer while a local cloud spirit seems positively intent to show his capability and how he deserves to be promoted by her, something I'm pretty sure is going to backfire. The Snoqualmie spirit however seems a little upset with her keeping the storm up, as its making travel thru the pass difficult, though he does seem to understand it's for a good cause. The two of us have managed to secure some help from the local spirits in taking on cantrip when they move, but not much, that seems a little too involved in human politics for their taste. We're also trying to limit the bloody minded amongst them, so we need to use caution with this, but for the most part, they seem willing to act in such a way as to limit travel possibilities to the road, no air or water travel for cantrip in the foreseeable future.

"Well featherhead, are you enjoying the night?" I ask Annabeth a little later sipping on some wine.

She actually giggles at me, she's more than a little tipsy; "Oh yes my dearest husband," she says with a smirk while placing her arms around me, "but not as much fun as you could be having right now if that river spirit has anything to do with it. She does seem ever so grateful to you seeing as she replaced the new Columbia as the head of her swimming hole. If her actions are any indication, the normal crowd that goes there is going to go thru a slight shift from young kids to teenage couples looking for a quiet place unseen by their parents."

"Well, I suppose I could go that route with her, or maybe just take you off to one of the quest rooms for a while. We never got to finish last night, and I'm rather looking forward to it."

"Oh, and should I invite that little spirit as well seaweed brain, I think she'd go for a threesome don't you?"

"Annabeth…"

"Shhh, you're cute when you blush Percy," she's laughing at me, "now let's go find that room."

A little while later, we're lounging on the sofa of one of the quest rooms together, clothed only in a blanket and each other's arms. "So, feeling better?" I ask her.

"Hmmm… Yes, I do believe I am feeling better. You're very good at this you know. Sometimes I wonder how I managed to snag a guy like you. I love you, you do know that right?"

"Yes Annabeth Chase Jackson, I do realize this. Quite apart from the enthusiasm you just displayed, the times you've saved my life, all the other little displays of affection, there is the simple fact that you married me. Believe it or not, I am capable of putting some puzzles together. As for how you snagged me, you told me I drool when I sleep with that quirky little smile of yours. You've owned my heart since then."

"So does that mean when you get girls on the sly you're going to share with me? Gods Percy, you are so easy to make blush. You can stomp around and even fight in the nude without batting an eye, but your wife talking about sex with another woman practically sends you into seizure. Hmmm… I must find the reason for this. Lie down and put your head in my lap and I shall play the psychologist and you play the good little patient and tell me of your childhood and all your inhibitions and desires."

"If my head comes anywhere near your lap, I'm not going to be able to talk with what I'll be doing instead."

"Oh, so you're going to play the not so good patient instead then. Maybe I should call that river spirit in and set her down to show you how it's done?"

"Thank you, but I already know how to do that, hence the reason I won't be able to talk. Or are you saying I'm not any good at it? You've never complained before."

Annabeth is practically in tears laughing. "I meant to have her show you how to talk. Though come to think of it, maybe she does know secrets a man could never know? There you go again Kelp-head, I think I shall come up with a nick name for that blush"

"I'm worried about you Annabeth." That shuts her up pretty quick. "You never used to act like this, what's changed? Have you always felt like this and just too shy to talk about it until after our wedding? Or has something changed? It wasn't just coming to this world, you were changing before that, did someone do something? Use magic on you or something? Please tell me Annabeth, I'm truly worried."

"I don't know Percy. You're right, I never felt like this until the summer before the battle of Manhattan, at least I don't think I did. I don't know Percy, maybe Drew was messing with my head, maybe Hera, or hell, even my mother might do it, maybe it's just the stress from what we went through in the labyrinth, but whatever it is, I have felt, for a while now, a nearly over riding desire to not only please you in any way you desire, but to be with a girl, though there, I expect to be pleased instead. And the really scary thing is, if it is someone doing it to me, I'm not even upset. It's like this has become the new me and I no more want to change than the old me would have wanted to change into this. And when I actually think about it, that scares the crap out of me Percy, I'm only bothered about not being bothered, but I'm not bothered at all about what's causing it. And topping it all off, there is the constant competition from the other girls for your attention. I can see how your father and uncles act, all the Olympians actually, so I can't help but think I need to be prepared for when you get another girl."

"Annabeth listen to me, I mean really listen to me. I love you with my whole heart and soul. I'd do anything for you, remember that dream the other night, I jumped into Tartarus to stay with you, I think I can survive without having a legion of young women serving me so that I can be with you. As for Drew messing with your head, I'd actually consider that possible, after all, she's tried to mess with mine several times. Is it just the need to be with a female, or with a female and me at the same time?"

"Percy…"

"Shhh, this is important."

"I'm not sure, I think it's just the need to be with a female, why?"

"Because I was practicing something today." With that, I step back and turn myself into water and shift forms and turn myself back to flesh. "What do you think?" I ask her in her own voice.

Hands clapped over her mouth, Annabeth is giggling like mad. "Oh gods Percy, it's like I'm looking in a mirror, how did you do that?"

"Sorry, you're the only female whose body I know well enough to duplicate. I suppose that would feel weird for you."

"It'd seem like I was with a sister I don't actually have Percy. It looks good on you though. Is the biology fully complete, or is this just appearance?" At that I shift forms again and she looks at my new form. "I thought you just said I was the only female form you knew that well? Nice though."

"I'm kind of guessing, but the basic form is Calypso. Her voice doesn't sound right with my words, not sure if I'm doing it wrong or if it's just the mental image I have of her. As for how fully female I am right now, my basic explorations in the bathroom earlier says fully complete. So, does this work for you?"

In response she seizes me and throws me to the couch and starts to kiss me.

This is turning into a wonderful night.
