Dani had gone home early, to take care of Ricky. When she got there Janet was asleep on the couch with a bowl of peas near her. Dani took out her wallet and pulled out money and some extra, she tucked it under Janet's hand and patted her shoulder. "Janet. Wake up."
The younger woman was startled at first then sighed in relief. "Thank you Mrs. Collins." Dani smiled at her and took the peas. She waited for Janet to gather her things and leave then Dani locked the door. She walked into her son's room and sat on the chair next to his bed. "Hey sweetie." She said quietly, she knew he was awake.
"Hi mommy." He said, almost as quietly as she spoke.
"How's your tummy?" She asked, her eyes turning into concerned ones.
"Better." He said. Dani smiled.
"Good." She kissed his forehead and went to stand up.
"Can you read me a bedtime story?" He asked.
"Didn't Janet read you one?"
"Yes, but she didn't read the Three Little Pigs." He said. Dani chuckled.
"Sure buddy." She turned on his bedside light and pulled the "Three Little Pigs" off the shelf. "Okay, you ready?" He nodded.
She opened the book and cleared her throat. "Once upon a time there were three little pigs and the time came for them to leave home and seek their fortunes.
Before they left, their mother told them ' Whatever you do, do it the best that you can because that's the way to get along in the world.' "

Dani was almost finished with the small book. "The little pigs saw the wolf climb up on the roof and lit a roaring fire in the fireplace and placed on it a large kettle of water.
When the wolf finally found the hole in the chimney he crawled down and splash! right into that kettle of water and that was the end of his troubles with the big bad wolf.
The next day the little pig invited his mother over . She said 'You see it is just as I told you. The way to get along in the world is to do things as well as you can.' Fortunately for that little pig, he learned that lesson. And he just lived happily ever after." Dani said, as she finished the book.
Ricky had fallen asleep. Dani smiled at the young boy's sleeping form and stood up, putting the book back and kissing his forehead. She pulled his blankets up and tucked him in.
"Night mommy." He said.
"Night sweetie." She said. She walked into her room and set down her phone on her night stand. She put her badge and gun on her night stand as well and started to get changed. She left on her undergarments and put on black pyjama shorts and a dark blue tank top. She sighed to herself and sat on her bed, turning on her t.v. and selecting Neflix, quickly turning on "Robin Hood" the T.V. series off BBC and pressed play.
She smiled as Allan's figure came on screen and she turned the volume down to ten, keeping it playing with the subtitles on til she started to drift off to sleep.

"Just shut up!" He screamed, then he slapped her. "Shut up, you stupid bitch!"
Dani was standing still with tears streaming down her face. "I'm...I'm sorry! Christian I didn't know! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!"
"How can you do this to me!?" He screamed. Dani started to sob as he came at her. She put her arms in front of her face and dropped to the ground with every punch and every kick. "How!?"
"I'm sorry!" She screamed. She had told him she was pregnant.
"I'm gonna beat that baby out of you!" He screamed. "How the fuck can you get pregnant! This is all your fault!" He growled out as he hit her. After he had stopped and gone she laid on the ground, she crawled to the bathroom and pulled herself up using the sink. She looked at herself and started to cry again. She had cleaned herself off after a while and then stood in front of the mirror again, gauze bandages, band-aids and a few DIY stitches covering her body.
She started at herself in the mirror, and then closed her eyes. She felt something cold press against her left temple and opened her eyes. Christian was standing there with his arm extended, to have a gun pressed against her head. She watched him from the mirror. And her eyes turned cold, she went extremely pale and stopped crying.
"Just do it." She growled. He cocked the gun, pressing it against her head harder.

Dani woke up suddenly, she was sat upright, clenching the sheets in her fists in a cold sweat. She was breathing heavily and she started to cry. She cried for a short while until her door was pushed open, she set her hand on her gun.
"Mom?" She heard. She took her hand off the gun and saw her son standing in the darkness looking at her.
"Yeah?" She asked, trying to sound like she hadn't been crying. She failed.
"Mommy, are you okay?"
"Yeah baby, I'm okay. Are you okay?"
"No...I heard you crying." He replied, climbing onto the bed. Dani watched him sit next to her.
"Oh...I wasn't crying." She said quietly, putting her attention on the t.v. screen, it was paused. She must've paused it...She tosses ad turns a lot in her sleep.
"Yes, you were mommy." He said softly. "When you cry I get worried."
"Why?"
"Because you're so strong..."
"Sometimes...Sometimes crying doesn't mean you're weak, baby. It means you've been strong for too long."
"I know mommy."
"Right...You can go back to bed." She said to him, kissing his forehead.
"I had a bad dream." Ricky said.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Dani asked. Ricky shook his head. "Do you want to sleep here tonight?" She asked him. He nodded. Dani nodded "Okay" as he wiggled under the blankets. Dani went back under the covers and sighed, watching her son sleep, she then turned over and wiped her eyes.
He better not come back. Dani said in her mind. Christian better not come back.
