Chapter 67: Falling Shadows

Authors Note: This is a chapter I've been looking forward to since the start of the Shadow Warriors. Young Justice vs. Shadow Warriors. This is where things start to get intense for the warriors and the League I hope you all enjoy.

There was no fighting. When the Shadow Warriors returned home and told the Justice League and the Titans all about Adrian and they worked together to take down Trigon.

At least that's what should have happened.

Deep down Shadow didn't want this. If this was over a year ago he would have loved to put the Justice League in their place. Right now as he fought his former brothers in arms he was thinking on how Adrian wanted this, two of his greatest adversaries tearing each other apart and then finishing off the victors.

But right now, right now all Jayden wanted to do was destroy the Justice League…Then Trigon.

Dusk and Robin were fighting down in the main corridor exchanging blows with their weapons. Robin brought his staff down on Dusk's head, but the young warriors held his tonfa's up in an X formation and blocked his attack. Dusk then pushed against Robin's staff and knocked him back far enough to deliver a thrust kick to his chest and knock him down on the ground.

Dusk made a quick dash towards him and went to stomp his foot on his head, but Robin spun his legs around and kicked the side of Dusk's head. He fell down while Robin got up and twirled his staff around.

Dusk started to get angry and used trump card. Robin held his staff behind him and dashed towards Dusk ready to take him down. What he wasn't ready for was Dusk activating his Adonis strength and throwing a punch to the center of his chest. He ripped through Robin's staff as if it were a twig and knocked the wind out of the boy wonder's body.

Dusk stood over the boy who was having trouble breathing, possibly due to a collapsed lung. Dusk could have finished him right then and there, but instead helped him control his breathing.

Hitgirl was currently fighting Bumblebee or at least trying to find where she was. The problem with bees is that they are small, fast and have a hell of a stinger. She aimed her duel .45's all around her every time a small black and yellow dot caught her eye.

Hitgirl fired at Bumblebee but missed every shot as she got closer and unloaded multiple energy bolts into her chest. Hitgirl let out a shout as she rubbed the sore spots on her chest and tried to get a lock on her location.

"I'm taking home a baby bumblebee," She sung in a whisper. "Won't my mommy be so proud of me I'm taking home a baby bumblebee…?" She then caught another glimpse at Bee right before she transformed into full size and landed a kick to the center of her chest. Hitgirl fell to the ground and her guns slipped from her hands and across the floor.

"Ouch it stung me." Hitgirl groaned. Bubmlebee walked towards her aiming her open palms at her.

"Don't do anything stupid." She warned.

"Or what?" Hitgirl staggered to her feet and stared her in the eyes. "You're not gonna kill me and those bolts don't do anything but piss me off. C'mon let's see how you do in a real fight."

Hitgirl landed a smack across the side of Bee's face and then a thrust kick to her stomach knocking her down. Bee quickly got up and blocked Hitgirls next attack and threw her over her shoulder but Hitgirl landed on her feet and pulled a few throwing knives from her belt and struck the hero in her arm and legs. Bumblebee let out a shriek and went to remove the knives from her limbs as she pulled them out she felt a firm grip on her shoulder. Hitgirl stood before her with a tazar in her hand and sent it to her neck. Bee felt a surge flow through her body before falling to the ground numb all over.

Mystico had just held a rose in her hand fired the petals, which were sharp like razorblades, at Zatanna but countered with a spell of her own.

"M'I rebbur. Er'uoy eulg!" Zatanna shouted. The razor petals stopped before Zatanna briefly before firing back at Mystico. Mystico's eyes snapped at her attack and quickly pulled out a white cloth and swiped it across the rose petals. When she held the cloth out the rose petals were gone and Mystico's face broke out in a triumphant grin.

"I'll give you credit." She snickered. "Even as good a magician I am I can't speak backwards as fast as you can."

It was Zatanna's turn to smile.

"You know for someone so talented you could have made a great hero." Zatanna complimented while holding her hands out. Mystico took the same pose as she did only sporting a dark scowl.

"I am a hero, just not one that let's bad guys get away." She said in a low tone of voice.

Mystico manifested some blue aura into her hands and fired the fiery energy at Zatanna. Zatanna quickly held her hands out and stared down at the energy and summoned a spell.

"Dleihs em!" She shouted as an amber colored shield made up of magic deflected Mystico's attack.

Zatanna sported a smug grin as she lowered the shield. A loud noise echoed throughout the halls and Zatannas body went numb. She lowered her head down and saw the blood pouring from her waist. She then looked back up at the sorceress to see that she was holding a silver berretta.

"Y-You…Cheated." Zatanna groaned. Her knees hit the ground while Mystico walked over to her.

She kneeled down next to her and placed her hand on Zatanna's wound. The Magician let out a shriek as the bullet was gone along with the wound. Zatanna looked down at her now healed waist and newly sewed shirt. She looked up at Mystico in shock as she reached behind Zatanna's ear and pulled out the bullet.

"Tada!" She sang before balling her fist and knocking her out cold.

Apollo and Rocket were fighting hand to hand since they didn't have many special abilities. Rocket swung her leg across Apollo's helmet and knocked her on the ground. Apollo's head was spinning and she tried to pick herself up, but Rocket placed a kinetic bubble over her and trapped her to the ground.

"Stay down. You're not getting out of there." Rocket said in a stern voice. Apollo scanned the dome and she was right, there was no way out.

"A kinetic barrier, unbreakable and if applied any force it only grows stronger." Apollo stated. "The only way to disable the barrier is to disable you."

"Correct, but fat chance of the happening." Rocket gloated with a smug grin. Apollo merely stared at her before a blue bolt of energy struck Rocket and knocked her and the barrier down.

Apollo looked over to see Reaper with his scythe gun set to stun. Apollo was about to thank him, but he was then tackled to the ground by Guardian. Apollo quickly helped Reaper to his feet as Guardian did the same with Rocket. They both stared down at the two Warriors and readied for their attack.

Reaper formed his gun back into his scythe and Apollo readied her wrist mounted guns. The two dashed towards the Leaguers and Apollo open fired with her automatic, but Rocket raised her barrier over her and Guardian protecting them from the bullets.

Unfortunately, Reaper raised his scythe and stabbed his blade into the ground and activated a sonic eruption from his emitter he built in his blade. A small tremor was enough to stop Rocket's barrier, but Guardian charged straight towards Reaper. Reaper pulled his scythe out and swiped it across Guardians head but the brute blocked with his shield. He quickly gripped the shaft and ripped it from Reaper's hands and sent a left hook to his face.

Reaper hit the ground but immediately got to his feet and charged towards Guardian. Reaper sent a few quick jabs into Guardians chest and then did a spin kick, but Guardian caught the kick and swung him down on the ground.

Reaper let out a loud grunt when he landed, but his body hitting the floor was even louder. Reaper was then dragged up from the ground by his collar and slammed against the wall. Reaper broke free from Guardians iron grip and landed a heavy punched to his jaw. Guardian staggered back and grunted in pain and raised his shielded hand for a strike but a pink blob of putty flew out of nowhere and pinned him to the ground.

Both he and Reaper looked over to see Apollo aiming her left hand cannon at Guardian with a restraint Rocket molded to the floor.

"This is our home." Apollo grunted in anger. Reaper turned and looked into Guardians eyes and watched as his eyes widened in fear.

"And you are not welcome here." Reaper whispered.

Artemis fired a few arrows at Tigress but dodged every shot. When she got close enough she whipped out her sword and brought it down on the archer who blocked with her bow. The two locked weapons and stared into each other's eyes.

"This used to be my bow!" Tigress grunted.

"And I heard you couldn't shoot to save your life." Artemis grunted.

"That's because I didn't use it to kill people."

"And that's why the Shadow Warriors are better than your League."

Just as Tigress was about to disarm her Whisper ran by being chased by Beast Boy who as a rhino and charged right towards the former archer. He was about to strike her but rapidly transformed into a blue jay and flew around her before turning her into road kill.

Artemis swept Tigress's legs and pulled out and arrow and aimed it at Beast Boy, but a golden lasso wrapped around the bow and yanked it out of her hands. Artemis looked over to see Wonder Girl and was ready to attack her until Star snuck up from behind her and delivered a spin kick to the side of her head.

She fell to the ground with a throbbing pain to the left side of her head and was now helpless to stop Star from attacking her. Batgirl was fast enough to smack her staff into Star's stomach, knocking the wind out of her.

"Sorry about this." She pleaded.

"So are we." Breeze said as she attacked with her staff.

The two attacked one another with their staffs as Whisper was trying to shoot Beast Boy who was still a blue jay. After firing her last bullet she quickly went to reload it and BB dived down towards Whisper before transforming into a gorilla and dropping his fist down on her.

She quickly rolled out of the way as the green ape swung his heavy fist at her. She ducked under his fist and sent her fist to the center of his face. BB let out a roar and charged towards her, he was gaining on her and let out a loud roar but was soon taken down when an arrow struck his back and sent an electric charge through his body.

The ape fell to the ground and transformed into the young teen once again. Artemis was about to load another arrow but was struck down by Tigress. Whisper quickly charged towards her and pulled out her knife as did Tigress and dueled with their blades.

Sparks flew between the two as Whisper swung her leg up towards Tigress's head, but missed. Tigress swiped her knife at Whisper's mask, knowing that if she lost it she would revolt back to her shy timid self.

Whisper caught on and grabbed her by her wrist and swung her over her shoulder and onto the ground. She twisted her wrist causing her to drop the knife while letting out a yelp before having the butt of the knife strike the back of her head knocking her out.

Whisper looked over at Artemis and nodded at her as she returned the gesture and looked over at the sister's fights.

Star dodged Wonder Girls punch and did a backflip catching her chin with the tip of her boot. When she landed on her feet she pulled out her whip and cracked it across her wrist.

Batgirl and Breeze were exchanging blow after blow before Batgirl pulled out a few batarangs and threw them at her. Breeze activated the fan at the end of her staff and fired a gust of air at her. At the same time Star used her Adonis strength to pull Wonder Girl and throw her across the room as Breeze blew Batgirl straight towards her. The two collided and fell to the floor, Whisper quickly grabbed Wonder Girls lasso and tied the two together.

Breeze looked over at her girls and smiled at them.

"Great work ladies." Breeze complimented. "Though I wish there could have been a better way to end this,"

"We tried to get them to listen to reason, they refused and this is what they get." Whisper reassured.

"True."

Surge and Static were both flying on their Mylar disks shooting electric bolts at each other. Surge formed an electric blade on his hands and flew straight towards KF and swiped his arms like scissors barely missing Static's head.

Zoom and Impulse were having a battle of speed as they rapidly moved around the mansion. They exchanged a few punches now and again while Surge and Static continued their fight. KF ran up and around a stairway column and charged straight into Surge while Static shot down Zoom.

The two warriors fell as the Leaguer's rejoined on the ground.

"That was so Crash." Kid Flash cheered. "We totally took those guys down."

"Yeah, seemed a little too easy though." Static stated. "When I met up with Red he said his friends don't go down easy and yet these guys go down after a little bump."

"Maybe they were exhausted?" Kid Flash guessed.

"Or maybe we were just fucking with you." Surge grumbled from the floor.

Surge immediately fired two bolts of electricity into Kid Flash's body and Zoom tackled Static to the ground. Zoom wrapped his arms around Static's neck and squeezed to the point in which he passed out. KF fell to the ground when Surge noticed he wasn't screaming anymore and toned down his power.

Zoom and Surge looked down at the fallen heroes and the two bumped fist together.

"Crash." Zoom chuckled.

Thanatos and Blue Beetle were dueling with their blades and whatever else they carried. Thanatos brought his great sword down on Blue who raised his mantis blades in an X formation and blocked his attack. The two struggled against each other for a minute before Thanatos raised his foot and sent Blue across the mansion then aimed his shoulder cannon at him and fired.

Blue activated his jet wings and flew away from the oncoming blasts but was soon slammed to the ground by Theodosia. She had a smug grin before Superboy flew in and tackled her through a nearby wall. He then had his arm wrapped around her neck and dragged her to her feet.

"Why are you doing this?" Superboy grunted. "You and I are the same we were both created for a purpose and killing isn't it."

"You think that just because our father came from a test tube I don't view life as a person?" She grunted. "I have a home, a family and a team."

"A family and team who are nothing more than killers." Superboy snapped.

"I'd rather be an assassin who kills villains than a hero who lets them walk away free." Theodosia grunted.

She elbowed his stomach and flipped him over her shoulder and sent him to the ground. Thanatos then crashed into through the wall as Theodosia quickly rolled out of the way. She then shot towards Blue and sent both fist into his chest. Blue flew back and fired two staples into her and nailed her to the ceiling.

Thanatos and Superboy were exchanging blows until Blue came back and fired his sonic cannons at him. Thanatos fell to the ground but not before firing off a few pod missiles. The two fell back and landed back into the mansion hall. Superboy looked over to see Blue only out of his armor and Theodosia standing over him.

"Don't try it." She warned, her eyes glowing red. "It's over."

"We're not even close to being done." Superboy grunted in anger but lowered his defense.

Lagoon Boy now oversized charged towards Phoenix who was now running while firing his fire bolts at him. Meanwhile Gauntlet fought Ms. Martian who kept turning transparent to avoid his attacks. When she flew through the wall again, Gauntlet went to help out Phoenix but before he could reach him, Martian grabbed his foot through the floor and pinned him to the ground. Her eyes glowed violent green as she stared into his eyes.

"Enough Sam!" She shouted. Gauntlet snapped his eyes at her and it was his turn to glow.

"Stay out of my head!" He shouted as his body started glowing orange and burned like fire.

Martian let go and he pulled out his whip and swiped it across her head knocking her down. Her head was ringing and her vision was blurred as she saw him run over to Phoenix. The two over powered Lagoon Boy and he shrunk down in size smoldering on the ground before them.

"No…" Martian groans.

"Megan, use the orb." Light's voice whispered in her head.

"Light?" She gasped and looked around to see that he was nowhere around.

"Use the orb, Megan." Light pleaded. "The warriors are winning if they beat you it's all over for us."

"But…This orb it's just not…It has a weird feeling to it." Megan said in a cautious tone. She didn't know what this orb was but whatever it was it wasn't giving off any good vibes.

She was broken from the conversation when Gauntlet aimed her magnum at her. He grinned victoriously but his grin was soon wiped off when he saw Martian holding a small green orb.

"Sam, get that orb now!" Vulcan shouted inside his subconscious.

Gauntlet quickly made a grab for her but she disappeared into the ground again. Gauntlet looked around for her only to see her come up from the ground and grab Lagoon Boy before flying away.

"Dammit!" Gauntlet shouted.

"What is it?" Phoenix asked running up to him.

"I don't know let's just get to Jayden, fast." Gauntlet snapped.

Aqualad and Nightwing were now the only two remaining heroes left as they fought Shadow and Ronin. Nightwing was deflecting Ronin's scalers with his escrima stick while Shadow and Aqualad fought with their blades.

"So tell me Ronin, why join Shadow?" Nightwing asked between hits. "Why ruin your life for revenge, why become killers and why would you stand against true justice?"

The two locked weapons and Ronin stared at Nightwing through his goggles.

"Because I was meant to." Ronin whispered as he pushed Nightwing back. "Because I am my own person with my own symbol of justice." Ronin spun around and swiped his blades across Nightwings head, but the dark knight blocked them again. "And also, because no one else will."

Ronin head butt Nightwing and managed to gash his arm before kicking him onto the ground.

Aqualad let out another loud roar as he brought his sword down again. Shadow blocked feeling vibrations go throughout his body as his feet dragged on the ground. Even with his Adonis activated he was having trouble with his former leader.

Shadow pushed back and swiped his blade across Aqualad a few times, but the Atlantean blocked every attack as water droplets splashed with every strike. Shadow's veins and eyes glowed red while Aqualad's arms glowed blue as they charged at each other again.

"You say you are justice, that what we're doing is wrong. Well what about you?" Shadow asked, blocking the oncoming blade. "How many times have you fought your father, how many times does he come back to kill you, how many people died for your mistakes?"

"It doesn't matter!" Aqualad shouted, he then pulled out his second handle and conjured up a water mace and brought it down on Shadow who dodged out of the way in time. "You are killing more people than criminals and your teaching minors that it is okay to kill. It's out of order and we're here to stop you!"

"Yeah, you're doing a great job." Shadow chuckled as he looked over the damage. "You're lucky I ordered them not to kill your team."

"Even if you did defeat us they would just send someone else!" Aqualad snapped causing Shadow's expression to drop.

"Really and who do they send after you?" Shadow said in a monotone voice.

The two charged at each other again only this time Shadow pulled out his magnum and shot the mace handle out of Aqualads hand. He let out a grunt but still charged towards him and brought his sword down. Shadow blocked with his sword, but was surprised to see the watery blade wrap around his sword like a whip.

Aqualad's face broke out in a grin as he ripped the sword from Shadow's hand and threw it away. When he looked back he saw Shadow's fist head straight towards his face. He was knocked back on the ground as Shadow loomed over him.

"It's over Kal." Shadow said in a dark tone.

Everyone one of Shadow's teammates were now standing behind him as Dusk handed him his sword and Ronin threw Nightwing down next to Aqualad. From the distance Ms. Martian watched in horror as the Warriors stood triumphant over her team.

"We're not going to kill you Kal." Shadow warned. "We want you and everyone else to know of how badly they failed. How they underestimated the black listed members of the Justice League. We want you to take this loss as an example of our fury and power so that you'll know how you gave up on the best group of warriors you'll ever know. So whenever you think of stopping us, whenever you get the urge to interfere with our work we want you to remember this pain and loss."

Shadow then ripped his mask off and stared his former leader in his eyes.

"Whenever you remember of your greatest failure you'll remember the one team that beat you!"

"What about us Jayden."

Jayden looked behind him as did his team and saw every member of the Justice League standing in a row behind them.

"You will also feel our pain Bruce." Jayden grunted as he and his team readied themselves.

"Please, Jayden everyone we don't have to do this." Superman pleaded as he raised his hands in defense.

"You brought this on yourselves!" Surge snapped as electricity erupted from his body.

"You never believed in us." Reaper yelled raising his scythe.

"Jayden wait Vulcan said…" Gauntlet started but Jayden cut him off.

"Warriors I want you all ready for this."

"Megan…" Light pleaded inside Megan's head. "They are out for blood and there is no reasoning with them. Use the paralysis orb now!"

Megan still didn't move as she watched Jayden's eye glow red. She never thought he could be so violent. It broke her heart to the point where tears rolled down her cheeks.

"We left your kids alive." Jayden said sadistically. "I can't guarantee you'll come out of this alive. Warriors attack!"

The warriors let out a battle cry and charged at the Justice League ready for the final fight. All while Megan had the supposed power to end this. Light started to grow impatient.

"Megan, they're going to kill everyone you have to stop it now or Trigon will return. And everyone will burn. Stop them now!"

Megan's eyes burned green as did the orb as a vibe of energy surged through the room. Megan and the rest of the league were fine. The warriors were not.

They were all on the ground screaming and crying like children from when they had suffered most. They were twitching and clutching their heads trying to subdue the pain as they screamed in pain and agony.

"Please make them stop!" Artemis cried. "Make the voices stop!"

"AHH, JASON WHERE ARE YOU?" Jayden cried. Reaper was ripping his cloak off as it were on fire.

"THEIR BLOOD IS ALL OVER ME!" He screamed. "MOM, DAD GRANDMA AND GRANDPA THEY ARE ALL DEAD!"

"MOMMY, DADDY DON'T LET HIM HURT ME ANY MORE!" Phoenix cried.

"DADDY, PLEASE DON'T BE MAD I'LL BE GOOD!" Breeze pleaded.

"SELINA COME BACK DON'T LET THEM TAKE ME AWAY!" Surge begged.

"MOMMY…MOMMY I DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOU!" Hitgirl cried as she rolled up in a ball.

Up on the staircase Megan looked down at the orb which was now a crystal clear bead. Aqualad and Nightwing approached her as the League tended to the warriors.

"Megan, what was that?" Aqualad asked. "What did you do to them?" She didn't know what to say nothing came to mind.

"I-I…he said they would just be stunned I didn't mean…to…"

Nightwing took the orb away and walked away without a word. Megan was truly disgusted with herself. She tried to talk to Light but she never had a connection with him, only he had the connection.

But she could swear she could hear a hollow laugh echo in the back of her mind.

The League tried to help the warriors but they kept fidgeting and brushing them away. Batman gripped Jayden tight as he looked over at Martian Manhunter.

"J'onn what is going on, what happened to them?" Batman shouted furiously.

"It is Megan's power." He stated. "She used some kind of dark magic enhancer to power her psychic attacks tenfold."

"What are they screaming about?" Wonder Woman asked trying to hold Whisper and Star together.

"Their most tragic events." He explained solemnly. "They are reliving them every minute."

"We must sedate them soon." Red Tornado suggested. "Otherwise they could go into shock."

"We don't have time." Flash urged. "They don't even respond to normal treatment."

"Then we'll have to knock them out." Canary yelled as she knocked out Surge and Dusk.

Batman looked down at Jayden who was now crying as he tried to swing at Batman. Batman caught his hand and raised his fist.

"I'm sorry Jayden." Batman muttered.

With a strike of his fist Jayden's world went black.
