Chapter Twenty-Nine

Why Does It Feel Like Goodbye?

Rebekah pursed her lips in frustration as she glared at her girlfriend who was currently dancing with her ex-boyfriend. She knew that Caroline was just feeling terrible about everything that she had put Tyler through over the last year, and she wanted to make up for hurting him and cheating on him.

Truthfully it did not matter what her reasons were. It was wrong of her. She was blatantly dancing with him in front of her. Caroline hadn't even greeted her before agreeing to the dance.

The British woman clenched her fists tightly as her blue eyes followed their movements on the dance floor. They were not dancing in a provocative way and there was space between the two of them, but it still made her heart race and her blood boil. She felt like she was on fire and she wanted so badly to act on her rage. She wanted to storm over to them in order to maul Tyler.

Internally she played around with the idea, enjoying the images.

Ultimately, she decided that it would only make her look like the bad guy and give Caroline something for her to be upset with her about. 'Although… If I did the exact same thing as she is, she couldn't really be upset…' Her lips quirked up into a devious grin and she felt her excitement rising. It was ridiculous how excited she got when it came to seeking her revenge and making her girlfriend feel the way that she was feeling currently.

In her mind it was only fair.

"Hey there." A voice said from behind the blonde.

Rebekah turned to see who was talking to her and realized that it was a complete stranger. She had red hair that went down over her chest and a perfect body. She looked like a model. Her lips were twisted up dangerously and her eyes held a flirtatious glint in them.

"Why hello."

"Mm… and she has an accent too." The woman said with a grin, taking a few steps toward Rebekah. "Do ya think I could buy you a drink?"

"Afraid not. I'm not of age." She informed sadly. Alcohol actually sounded like a great idea at the moment.

"Neither am I." She said, holding up a fake ID before turning and heading toward the bar. The ID along with her flirtatious nature managed to get her a drink that she handed to Rebekah. "Here ya go."

The blonde gladly took the drink before taking a huge gulp of it and glancing over at Caroline as she did so. It was hilarious. She could already tell that her plan for revenge was working. The other woman had wide blue eyes that were fixated on the two of them.

Rebekah could practically see the smoke coming out of her ears. 'Serves her right.'

Caroline gasped as Rebekah returned her attention to the redhead. 'Slut.' She thought to herself as she watched the other woman pull her girlfriend out onto the dance floor. Her heart was hammering away in her ears and her stomach twisted into uncomfortable knots. It felt like she was going to vomit. She wanted to walk over to the girl and slap her silly for obviously flirting with the woman she loved.

'Why the fuck is Rebekah even dancing with that whore? Oh my god! What the fuck! She did not just place her hand that close to her ass! I swear to god I will rip her fucking hand off!' Honestly, they were not dancing all that provocatively, but to Caroline it seemed so sexual that it drove her insane. She could not believe that Rebekah would allow someone else to touch her in that way.

Caroline watched as the redhead leant forward and whispered something into Rebekah's ear. She could see the way that her red lips brushed against her girlfriend's skin and she felt herself crumble and her self-control go out the window.

No one else was going to put their lips anywhere near her girlfriend.

"What the fuck!" Caroline screamed. Rebekah could hear her from across the dance floor and it made her feel proud of herself.

"I'm sorry, Tyler. But, I have some matters that I need to attend to." She told him before she started to walk across the dance floor, her arms swaying angrily at her sides and a scowl on her face. She didn't even really know what she was going to do when she reached the two of them. She just knew that she wasn't going to stand around and watch some other woman touch Rebekah's ass and whisper into her ear.

'That just isn't gonna happen!'

O

Quinn swayed with the rhythm of the song as she held Rachel's body tightly against her own. She found herself getting lost in the feeling of it. She loved how soft and warm the other woman was and the way that her arms encircled her neck, and her fingers traced lightly through blonde hair.

"This is just as wonderful as I always imagined." The starlet muttered softly, pulling away and staring up into beautiful hazel eyes.

"You've imagined what it would be like to dance with me?" She sounded flattered.

"Oh yes, many times over the years. I can recall watching you dance with Finn and wishing that you would notice me, praying that you would see how much effort I had put into dressing up simply to get your attention. Haley thought it silly of me, but I always thought that you would notice me and it would be just like it was in romantic movies. You would suddenly be aware of how perfect I was after all of the years and you would ask me to dance and confess your love for me."

Rachel blushed when she realized that Quinn was laughing a little. It made her insecure despite knowing that she was not laughing at her on this occasion. "Okay, yes I admit, I was quite naïve back then. But, there is no need to laugh at me."

Quinn immediately sobered up and her eyes filled with worry. She did not want Rachel to think that she was making fun of her. "Rachel, I wasn't laughing at you. I just—" She paused and bit down on her bottom lip, lifting her hand and stroking her fingers through dark hair. "—I find it extremely adorable that you went to such measures in order to get me to notice you."

The diva did not dare explain to her the level that she went to in order to get her attention. 'Operation: Get Quinn Fabray will always be a secret….'

"You know me. I can be quite ambitious and relentless when I want something." Rachel said with a small smile.

"I know." Quinn smiled and leant forward resting her forehead against Rachel's and staring deep into her eyes. Her heart was racing in her chest and she suddenly felt scared to admit what she wanted. 'Come on, Quinn… just tell her… she needs to know that you noticed her just as much…that her efforts were not wasted.'

"You wanna know a secret?" The blonde's voice was deep and naturally seductive and Rachel shuddered as her breath rushed against her lips.

"Yes." She barely squeaked out.

"I noticed you that night."

"You did?"

"Yes. I noticed just how beautiful you were and I wanted to ask you to dance with me. I wanted to be with you. I was just too scared to act on those feelings so I hid them behind Finn. But, I never had feelings for him, Rachel." Quinn could see the way that her brown eyes lit up at the confession and it made all of the embarrassment worth it to her. If she had to sacrifice a bit of her pride to make the woman she loved happy then she would.

Rachel could feel the tears forming behind her eyes. She had never been so happy in her life. It made all of her efforts worthwhile and it meant that Quinn had always noticed her just as much as she had noticed the blonde.

"It has always been you, Rachel. Always." With that, she leant in and captured Rachel's full lips with her own in a timid yet loving kiss. She did not dare kiss her passionately in front of everyone at the party, but she wanted to show her just how important she was to her. She wanted to make her feel as special as she was.

'She deserves to feel as special as she makes me feel.'

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?"

Quinn and Rachel immediately pulled out of the kiss and turned to meet the playful eyes of three cheerleaders. It terrified both women. Neither of them were fully confident in Quinn's ability to stand up for herself and admit that she loved Rachel.

'Sweet Jesus, are you testing me right now?' Quinn questioned internally as she took a step in front of her girlfriend and stared down the cheerleaders with serious eyes. She was not going to allow them to walk all over her or the woman she loved. "What do you want?"

"I want to know why it is exactly that you are getting your mack on with Berry over there? Do you not care at all about the reputation of this squad?"

She laughed. "What do you mean the reputation of this squad? Half the squad consists of lesbians in case you didn't get the memo."

"Yeah, but they aren't exactly the captain of our squad. You are." The girl told her, taking a step toward her. "And we don't want you representing our squad and giving us a bad name." She paused and glanced over at Rachel, before returning her attention to Quinn and smirking deviously. "Besides, the girls on our squad who are dating other girls at least chose attractive girls to date. Do you really think it's gonna help our reputation when people find out that you are dating that little obnoxious hobbit over there?"

She knew that she had a protective nature when it came to Rachel Berry. She could control her anger sometimes, but not when people hurt her. "What did you just call her?"

"I called her a hobbit. As in an ugly little hairy man, like she obviously is. Sorry, Berry you aint hiding that mustache right now." She laughed. "Oh don't look so surprised Quinn, don't you remember? You're the one who gave her that nickname in the first place."

"You will take that back and you will apologize to her right now." Quinn growled. She was clenching and unclenching her fists and she knew that if the cheerleader did not take it back that she would do something that she shouldn't. She did not wish to make a scene and get everyone in the club involved. But, she wasn't going to stand around and watch people hurt Rachel anymore.

"No. I'm not gonna apologize to man-hands over there. She is seriously the most annoying girl that I have ever met. She is a selfish little freak and—"

The cheerleader was stopped mid-sentence as Quinn slapped her directly across the face, causing her head to slam to the side. Her eyes were full of anger and she was breathing heavily as she watched the girl hold onto her face in pain before glaring back at her. She didn't even care if she hurt her. In fact, she hoped that she did hurt her.

"You did not just slap me!" She screamed and lashed out, throwing Quinn across the room and digging her nails into her scalp as she pulled on her hair angrily.

Quinn's phone flew out of the pocket of her jacket and slid across the floor, slamming into the feet of one of the other cheerleaders who quickly picked it up and opened it. "Oh my gosh! Come here and look at this picture!"

The cheerleader who was on top of Quinn stood to her feet and fixed her hair as she walked over to the phone and looked down at the background picture. It was the picture of Rachel and her snuggling. "Aw, isn't this cute. You and Berry getting your snuggle on." She smirked and looked to the other cheerleader. "Don't you think that everyone in the school would just love to see this?"

"Most definitely." She smirked and opened up a message box to send the picture to all of the most popular kids at school. Quinn and Rachel both attempted to get the phone away from her, but the other cheerleaders were holding them back while they sent the picture.

"Give that back! It's personal!"

"Not anymore, Q." She smirked and clicked send to send the last messages, before walking over and placing it back into the squirming blonde's jacket pocket. "Here ya go."

With that, all of the cheerleaders walked away laughing.

Quinn and Rachel exchanged a look and then Quinn just broke down. She realized that everyone in town would know about their relationship by the morning. Her parents would probably know. The entire school and staff would know. She could not deny it any longer and it terrified her.

"Quinn…" Rachel whispered softly, taking a step toward her.

"I gotta get out of here." Tears started to fall down her face and she ran toward the exit of the club with her girlfriend once again chasing after her. In an odd way it was sort of their thing.

O

Brooke Davis had the world on her mind.

Her mind was at a constant battle with itself. A large part of her wanted to be selfish and ask Haley to marry her and stay in Lima and finish out the school year with her. But, she also knew that it would be selfish of her to do so. It would be wrong of her and the other woman would probably grow to resent her more and more each day for the rest of their lives together if she asked that of her. She would be giving up a wonderful possibility and her future all for her.

That was not something that she could ask of her.

No matter how badly she was going to miss her and she wanted to ask her to marry her.

Honestly, she was just terrified. Terrified about what was going to happen after graduation. Not just within the next few months that they were apart. She could handle the distance for a few months. She would just go and see her live and spend some time on her tour bus. They would talk every night. They would still be together. That wasn't what was worrying her.

It was that she felt like this was the end for them. That things were not going to get better after graduation, they were only going to get worse. Brooke would be heading off to New York City probably to work on her fashion label, and Haley would probably be in California or traveling the world on tour.

To her, it felt like when she said goodbye tonight she was losing Haley forever.

She was saying goodbye to that part of their lives and everything was going to change. And the only way to make things stay the same would be for her to ask Haley to stay with her and marry her.

Brooke played around with the engagement ring box that she had brought with her to the club in her purse. She eyed the box carefully and relayed the idea over and over in her head. She could ask her. She wanted to ask her. Even if it just meant that after the tour they got married. She wanted to be married to Haley. She never wanted to lose her.

She was not ready to grow up.

"I'm heading out there to sing in a second, wish me luck?" Haley asked as she walked out of her dressing room toward her lovely girlfriend.

Brooke let out a squeak and quickly hid the box behind her back as she turned to look at the other woman with a wide smile. She knew that her smiles had been a bit forced as of late, but she could not help it. It was difficult to find happiness when she felt like she was losing everything that made her happy.

"Good luck, baby." She said, leaning in and kissing Haley gently on the lips. "Don't worry about all of them. You are going to be amazing out there."

"I don't know about that." She sounded terrified.

"I do." Brooke kissed her once more and reached out with her free hand to give Haley's a gentle squeeze. "And hey, if you get really scared I will be in the front row and you can just focus on me and pretend like it's just the two of us."

Haley's smile widened and she reached over and pulled Brooke into a tight hug. The cheerleader managed to keep the box hidden as she hugged her back. "Thank you so much for everything that you have done for me, Brooke. I know I wouldn't be here, about to go out there and do the one thing that I love so much, if it weren't for you. You give me the strength to follow my dreams." She pulled back and stared deep into hazel eyes, wondering for a second why they were full of tears.

"Are you crying, Brooke?"

"I'm just really happy for you." Her voice cracked. She really was happy for Haley. She was so happy that she could be the cause of her following her dreams and going on tour. Brooke didn't want to ruin that for her.

'It's selfish of me to need her this much…'

O

"I—I can't believe they sent that picture to everyone." Quinn stated between sobs. She felt terrible for allowing their words and actions to once again get the best of her, but it hurt and scared her so much. "I—I'm sorry Rachel. I know—I know I said that I was going to be strong enough to be proud tonight—It's just—they are all going to see that picture—my parents…" Her voice trailed off and broke as tears started to fall freely again.

She could not believe that her parents were going to find out about her relationship before she was prepared to tell them.

"Quinn, you have nothing to apologize for." Rachel quickly told her, reaching up and wiping the tears from her pale cheeks with her thumbs. She was wearing a smile on her lips and her eyes held genuine happiness.

"I-I—I said that tonight would be different—I wanted it to be different." She wheezed.

"It was different."

"How?!" Her voice was so hoarse that it almost sounded like she was screaming, but Rachel knew otherwise. "I did exactly what I always do, Rachel! Someone found out about us and I freaked out and ran away!" She was so frustrated with herself. 'Why can't I be stronger like her? Why do I care so much what people think of me?'

"It was different because you stood up for not only me, you stood up for yourself. You confronted those cheerleaders and you kissed me in public. I could not have ever asked for more. The steps that you have taken in one night have been tremendous and I am so proud of you."

Hazel eyes filled with tears again and the blonde bit down on her bottom lip as she searched Rachel's face. All that she witnessed written across it was honesty. Rachel Berry was truly proud of her. "You really think that I've improved?"

"Drastically so." She smiled and ran her fingers along Quinn's neck allowing them to rest against her shoulders. "Also, I would like to inform you that I find it unbelievably attractive when you stand up for me and defend my honor." Her voice was suggestive and devious.

"I probably shouldn't have gotten so mad… I just hate it when they make fun of you. I'm so sorry that I ever started that." It ate away at her conscience every day that she was the one who had started the ridicule against Rachel. It was her who had given her the terrible nicknames that she now despised. Most days, Quinn wished that she could go back in time and change her actions.

"I have already forgiven you for the past." She insisted. "You do not need to continuously apologize to me. I forgive you for everything."

"How can you? I've been awful to you. You can't just forgive me—"

"—I do. I forgive you. I am prepared to let go of the past and start a future with you, Quinn. I hope that you will do the same. I hope that you will forgive yourself and move forward with me."

"I would love nothing more." Her voice cracked again and a smile spread across her face as she leant down and captured Rachel's lips with her own, tangling her fingers in dark hair and pulling her close. They could both taste the saltiness of tears on their lips as they put all of their emotions and love into the simple, yet meaningful kiss.

Rachel pulled out of the kiss and stared up into Quinn's teary eyes, allowing her fingers to run down her arm as she asked. "Can I see that picture?"

"Why?" A blush covered her cheeks. She was embarrassed that she had made it the background of her phone.

"Because, I would really like to see it."

Quinn chewed on her cheeks and then she reached into her jacket and pulled out her phone, slipping it open and showing the background photo to her girlfriend. Rachel's brown eyes widened and brightened gleefully as she let out a squeak and took the phone from the blonde, looking over the picture. She couldn't stop smiling. Her heart was racing. She was so happy to know that Quinn had actually made the picture of the two of them her background.

Honestly, she was finding it difficult to understand how things had changed. She could not believe that they had once been "enemies" and now they were together.

"Send me this photograph, please?" Her voice was soft and hopeful. "I would love to make it the background of my cellphone as well."

O

"What the hell do you think you're doing!?" Caroline screamed, throwing her hands around angrily as she walked toward her girlfriend who was dancing with the other woman. Her body was shaking and her stomach was twisting in knots. She felt like she was going to be sick. 'No one else is supposed to touch her like that!'

The redheaded woman stood in front of Rebekah with her hands on her hips. "What the hell do you think you're doing is the better question." She stated staring deep into blue eyes with angry brown. "Can't you see that we were dancing? How about you go back to your boyfriend and—"

"—He is not my boyfriend!" Caroline screamed in her face. All that Rebekah could do was smirk as she watched the interaction. It was absolutely delightful the way that the other blonde grew so angry and obviously jealous. "You happen to be dancing with my girlfriend, actually." She sarcastically spat at the woman.

"Your girlfriend?" She laughed.

"Yes. My girlfriend. So." She paused and took a step toward her, staring into her eyes heatedly. "Back the fuck off." Caroline stated each word slowly and deliberately. She wanted her to hear them. She wanted her to get the hell away from the woman she loved.

"Well, if she's your "girlfriend" then maybe you should be paying more attention to her."

"Or, maybe you should be paying a little less attention to my girlfriend."

The redhead glanced over at Rebekah and her lips twisted up into a smirk when she saw that the British woman looked pleased with the interaction. She wasn't stupid. She knew that on some level she was being used to make the other blonde jealous, but right now she didn't care. She was having fun.

"She seemed to be enjoying my attention."

Caroline squinted her eyes at the woman as she took a step back and deliberately wrapped her arms around Rebekah's abdomen. 'What the fuck?' She could not believe that the woman was being such a bitch. What right did she have to hold her girlfriend like that?

Rebekah pulled her bottom lip between her teeth and stared between the girls with worried eyes. At this point she was starting to get anxious. She did not mean for things to get so out of control and she didn't know what Caroline would do. She had simply wanted to get revenge on her for dancing with Tyler, she didn't want to give the girl a panic attack or make her think that she was actually interested in the girl that she was dancing with.

She definitely was not interested in the woman that she had been dancing with.

"Okay, seriously!?" Caroline screamed, moving toward the redhead and ripping her hands away from Rebekah's waist. "You need to get your slutty hands off of my girlfriend this minute, or I swear to God I will—"

The other woman quickly pulled her hands away, pushing the blonde away from her. "You don't scare me, sweetie." She laughed.

"Well, I should!" Caroline lunged forward and grabbed the other girl by the hair, before throwing her off of Rebekah and watching her fall to the ground. "I've dealt with A LOT worse then you before!"

The redhead stood to her feet and moved toward her slapping her directly across the face. Her head snapped to the left and her blonde curls flew around. Rebekah's eyes widened at the sight and her muscles tensed. She had not meant to start a fight. She had just wished to rile her girlfriend up. Now, the other woman had hurt Caroline and she was growing angry. She hated seeing her in pain.

"Okay, girls. Perhaps it is time for us to take it down a notch." She attempted to interrupt the two, but they were lost in their own world.

Caroline moved toward the woman and she slapped her right across the face in return. Now the two of them were attacking each other, pulling hair and clawing away at skin. They looked like two cats thrown into a small space and Rebekah could not help but roll her eyes at their behavior. With little effort she moved between the two of them and pushed them apart, forcing them to stop fighting with each other.

"You two need to take a breather." The British woman informed.

"Like hell I do!" Caroline attempted to lash out again and Rebekah gently stopped her. "She thinks that you are like into her and stuff! That's not okay with me!"

"Caroline." She said with a kind tone. It immediately seemed to calm her down. "You have nothing to worry about."

Rebekah turned and looked at the redhead. She could see the blood pooling down from her nose and it made her chest tighten. She felt guilty. Truthfully, she did not know that her little display would cause so much drama between the girls. 'It was only a dance for Christ's sake.' "I apologize for leading you on, but I am uninterested in pursuing you romantically. Caroline is my girlfriend. It was only a dance."

The girl threw up her hands in frustration. "Whatever, I don't need this!" She turned and stormed away from the two blondes.

When Rebekah looked back at Caroline she saw tears shimmering in her blue eyes and a bruise forming on her cheek. It made her feel terrible. Not because she had danced with the other woman, just because she had caused so much trouble.

"Why would you do something like that to me?!"

"Why would I do something like that to you?" She could not believe her. "Why on earth would you dance with Tyler before even acknowledging my presence?!"

This silenced her. 'She was dancing with that girl just to make me jealous? She was just mad at me for dancing with Tyler…?' "I didn't mean to dance with him before saying hi to you. I really wanted to come over and tell you how wonderful you looked. It's just—he just ambushed me and asked me to dance after going on and on about how much he missed our friendship. I just felt so freaking bad about everything that I put him through, so I said yes. But, it didn't mean anything, Rebekah."

"Neither did that girl."

"It sure as hell looked like she meant something to you!" Caroline knew that she was being irrational. That she had no right to be jealous when she was doing exactly the same thing with Tyler. She just couldn't get the thoughts out of her head, the memories of the redhead's fingers running along Rebekah's lower back. It made her feel sick.

"Oh, come on love." She laughed disbelievingly. "You are being ridiculous. I was simply attempting to make you jealous."

"Congratulations! It worked!" She pouted and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Don't be like that, Caroline." Rebekah pursed her lips and observed the other woman. It was sort of adorable that she was getting so frustrated, but she couldn't believe that she was. "I only did it because you were dancing with Tyler. And quite frankly I think that you deserved as much."

"I can't believe that you would say something like that! I was just dancing with him as a friend! It didn't mean anything!"

"You still deserved it."

Caroline stared at her with wide eyes and an open mouth. She couldn't believe that Rebekah was blatantly telling her that she deserved the pain that she had just inflicted, the jealousy.

"Or do you not recall what happened when you were dating Tyler and you danced with me as only a friend?" She knew what the blonde Brit was referring to and a blush covered her cheeks. "We ended up shagging upstairs all night long."

"Okay, yeah! I get it! Sometimes dancing can lead to sex even with just friends! But, that wasn't gonna happen with Tyler!"

"I know that it wasn't going to happen. I was simply ensuring that it never would." Rebekah smirked proudly. She knew that on some level it was probably wrong of her to intentionally make her girlfriend jealous. She just didn't really care at the moment.

O

Haley had just finished singing and she felt like her veins were pumping with pure adrenalin. Her heart was racing in her chest and she was wearing a huge smile on her face, sweat was covering her face and rolling down her forehead from her damp hair. She knew that she probably looked terrible, but she didn't care. She had just done a wonderful performance that got the entire room screaming for an encore.

It had really helped having Brooke in the front row cheering her on. Knowing that she had the beautiful woman in her life gave her the strength to do anything.

Walking backstage she moved toward her vanity and immediately started to wipe the sweat from her brow and fix her makeup.

"Hey there, rock star." A familiar voice said from behind her. Haley turned around and her smile widened as she watched Brooke walk backstage carrying a bouquet of roses in her hands and wearing a proud smirk.

"Are these for me?" Haley asked playfully, her heart leaping as she moved toward her girlfriend and took the flowers from her, sniffing them. 'I have the most amazing girlfriend in the world… I can't believe how wonderful she has been…'

"Who else would they be for?" She raised a brow playfully.

"Your other girlfriend."

"I actually already dropped those flowers off for her." Brooke teased, earning a light slap against her arm from the shorter woman.

They both knew that they were not being serious. Neither of them wanted to be serious. The thought of it scared them to death. They would have to face the reality that they were going to be parting ways and saying goodbye, even if it was not permanent, it felt permanent.

'Why does it feel like I am losing her…?' She wondered, chewing on her cheeks and looking over the other woman's perfect face. She loved everything about her and she was going to miss her so much that it made her heart ache. The thought of waking up without her in her bed made her feel overwhelming sorrow.

"When do you head out?" Brooke's voice heightened and tears shimmered in her eyes.

Haley could tell that she was not taking their parting well. She wasn't either. Thinking about not being near the woman that she loved was almost enough for her to give up on her dreams altogether. But, she knew that Brooke wouldn't want that. "In about half an hour."

"You're going to miss Nationals."

She furrowed her brow and set her flowers down, reaching out and pulling the other woman closer to her. "I wish that I could be there." She squeezed her hands gently and offered her a small smile. "Maybe I can come back for the competition."

"Yeah, maybe." Brooke was trying so hard to keep on a happy face, but she couldn't anymore. She broke. Her eyes started to fill with tears that rolled down her cheeks, her body started to shake uncontrollably, and she felt like she was going to just fall to the ground. She felt so weak and empty.

"Oh god, please don't cry Brooke." Haley pulled her into her arms and started to run her hands comfortingly along her back. "If you cry then I'm going to start crying, and then I might realize that I need to stay here."

"You can't stay here." She stated adamantly.

The tutor pulled back and stroked her fingers through dark hair. "I can if you need me to."

"No, I'm—I'm fine." Brooke told her through soft sobs. She was attempting to control her sadness and failing miserably. "I'm just scared."

"What are you scared of?"

"The future is just so freaking scary. I'm scared that I'm going to lose you. I'm scared that we are going to lose each other. I mean I'm going to be moving on with life and trying all of these new things, and I want you to be a part of those things. I want to be a part of your tour."

"You will be a part of my tour." Haley insisted, leaning up and kissing her gently on the lips before searching her eyes. "You can come and visit me any time that you want and we will talk on the phone every night. You will know everything that is going on with me."

"I know." Brooke squeaked. Wiping the tears from her face and forcing a smile onto her lips. It hurt so much to smile. "But, it won't be the same. It won't be the same as being with you, talking to you and holding you at night. Watching you make something of yourself on that stage, being a part of your life."

"I know it won't be." Haley's brown eyes started to fill with tears as she reevaluated her choice. "Maybe I can stay and go on tour after—"

"—No. I can't let you stay for me." As much as she hated the thought of the other woman going on tour, she hated the thought of her not going on tour because of her more. "You need to go and follow your dreams, Haley. You are too talented to give that up for anything. You are too talented to give that up for me."

Haley nodded her head and kissed Brooke again. She hated seeing her so broken.

"Just promise me something, Hales?"

"Anything."

"Promise to call me every night. Promise that we won't lose touch and start to forget each other. Promise that you will come back to me eventually. And please, you must promise me that you will never change no matter what happens on tour, because you are perfect just the way that you are and people should love you for that."

"I promise." Brooke forced another smile and Haley repeated herself. "I promise."

"Thank you." She once again found herself fingering the engagement ring box in the pocket of her jacket. It was like the ring was constantly taunting her and reminding her what she wanted out of her life. Reminding her what she might lose if she did not stop her girlfriend from leaving that night. There was a large part of her that still wanted to hand her the box and ask her to stay with her, but she couldn't. 'I can't do that to her…'

'I don't want to be a person who puts her in that situation… It isn't fair to her.'

"I'm going to miss you so much." Haley said with a smile as she pulled Brooke into a passionate kiss, tangling her fingers in her hair and kissing her with so much emotion and force. It felt like it would be their last kiss so they both savored it. Every moment, every touch, every taste. It was perfect.

Brooke pulled out of the kiss and took in a breath, leaning her forehead against Haley's and smiling. "I'm going to miss you more."

"Never."

"Haley! It's time to get going!" One of the band members shouted from the front of the stage. She knew that they had already been waiting on her for a few minutes past when they were supposed to leave, and she did not want to keep them waiting any longer. But, she did not wish to rush her goodbyes with Brooke. Not if she wasn't okay.

"I'm gonna be okay, Hales. Just go and follow your dreams. I'll be here when you get back." Brooke reassured with another kiss.

"I'm so sorry, Brooke."

"Don't." She laughed under her breath. "Don't apologize to me. Just go and follow your dreams and have an amazing time." It felt like their hearts were breaking and neither of them could shake the feeling that the tour was going to change everything in their relationship. That things were never going to be the same between them again.

"I love you."

"I love you more."

"Never."

Rebekah watched as Caroline sat at one of the tables with her arms crossed over her chest and a pout on her face. She looked so unbelievably frustrated that she couldn't help but shake her head and laugh. At this point she didn't even really care that she had danced with Tyler. They had both been childish and acted instinctually and she was prepared to let it go and just move on with the night.

'There is no reason to allow this evening to go to waste.'

She approached Caroline and smiled down at her, extending her hand. "Would you care to dance?"

In a way it was both of their way of apologizing for what had happened between the two of them, it was their way of saying that they would have preferred to have been dancing with each other. A toothy grin spread across her face and her heart leapt as she reached up and took Rebekah's hand allowing her to pull her out onto the dance floor.

They moved along to the music, their bodies growing heated and arousal forming between their thighs. Caroline took the liberty to move her hands down Rebekah's back and squeeze her ass, causing the blonde Brit to jump and eye her warily.

"What? Did I do something wrong?" She was grinning deviously.

"Absolutely not."

Caroline squeezed her again and then pulled Rebekah's body closer to hers, moving against it with the music. Enjoying the way that her body felt against her own and the way that her nails dug into her hips as they moved.

"Please, never dance with your ex-lover in front of me again."

"If you promise to never dance with random sluts in front of me again."

"Deal."

A devious smirk formed on Rebekah's full lips and her blue eyes darkened with desire as she leant down and pressed a kiss right below Caroline's ear, before nibbling gently on her earlobe. It caused Caroline to take in a sharp breath and her body to shake. "Would you care to sneak out of here, love?"

She bit down on her bottom lip and raised a brow seductively, which Rebekah found to be exceptionally sexy. "I would love nothing more."

They both grinned and Caroline grabbed ahold of the other blonde's hands, pulling her toward the exit of the club so that they could leave and indulge in each other. 'God, I don't know what it is about her, but when I dance with her it just drives me crazy!'

Quinn could feel her heart thudding loudly in her ears as she approached her front door. She was terrified that her parents would have heard about the photograph, that they would have heard about her and Rachel kissing at the party. She knew that if they hadn't already heard about it, then they would within the next few days. Lima was a small town and word got around quickly.

She swallowed hard and forced her hand to open the door. She honestly wanted to just turn around and run in the other direction.

'You want to be with Rachel, Quinn… You want this. You love her. You need to just go in there and face them, because if you plan to be with Rachel for the rest of your life then they are going to need to know eventually… Besides, maybe they don't even know yet.'

The thought relieved some of her anxiety and she let out the breath that she had been holding. It was true. There was a good chance that they hadn't heard anything yet and that she would not have to face them yet. But, as she walked through the front door and she witnessed her mother and father waiting for her in the living room, just staring her down with angry eyes, she knew that they had found out.

Their words solidified her theory and her heart dropped.

"We need to talk."
