Time began to grow on as there was still no sign of Soul. Maka and her friends became increasingly worried about him. Besides Maka, Blackstar was taking it very hard. "He never told you where he was going?" He asked for what seemed like the trillionth time. "For the last time, no! He just left a note saying he'd be right back!" Maka snapped, understandably annoyed. "I'm sure he'll be back soon you guys." Tsubaki said as she tried to stay positive. "He better bring me back a girrafe." Patty sighed. "Patty, we should just hope he comes back at all." Liz told her sister. "When I brought it up to my father, he just said Soul might have taken a vacation." Kid told them all. The friends all sat around Maka's apartment, hoping that their friend would soon come through the door and make all their worries disappear. But that wasn't the case, soon the sky grew dark and the group decided they should go to their own homes and get some sleep. After the others left, Maka crawled into bed and hugged her pillow as she said a slight prayer hoping Soul would return soon then shortly fell asleep.
Sometime in the early morning, Maka heard the front door of her apartment open and the sound of feet shuffling in the living room. 'Oh no... is some one trying to rob my apartment?!' Maka thought to herself as she sat up in bed. 'I'm not going to let that happen!' She thought before she climbed out of bed and grabbed the heaviest book she owned. Maka then opened her door very carefully and quietly before tiptoeing out to the living room. "Soul... it hurts really bad!" A female voice whimpered quietly. "Shh Rizu! Maka will hear us if you're not quiet." Soul whispered desperately. "But Soul! It hurts!" The girl named Rizu whimpered more. "Shh shh I know, I know. I'll take you to the infirmary really soon! I just need to get somethings first!" Soul told her as he turned to go to the bathroom but froze when he saw maka standing there."Maka..." He said as he saw how lost she looked. "Soul...? Where have you been?! And who is she?!" Maka quickly asked as she flicked on the light, causing Soul and Rizu to cringe at the sudden brightness. Now able to see completely, Maka noticed that Soul and the girl were covered in blood, and Rizu was still bleeding badly. "Uhh Maka, this is... umm this is Rizu Stein, She's the professor's daughter." Soul said as he looked between the two girls before Rizu groaned in pain again. "Ahh first-aid kit." He muttered before rushing to the bathroom to retrieve it.
