Nightfrost Nightstar- Thank you, Night! That truly means a lot to me :)))! (And also, next chapter will be a P.O.V switch, so I'll have your cats inside it :D)
Crosspaw leaped through the whistling winds and the long grass that laced around her paws as she ran. Trying to escape the wolves that tore behind her, Rainstorm leading them. Wolves chased after her, snapping at the air as they got close. Wolves that would devour her and rip her apart. Among them, her family. Lionpaw, Smokepaw, Moonpaw and Lilypaw. Chasing her down. Her body slowly isolated with each step, it growing colder, and colder,
and colder...
and colder...
Her body fell, and hit the ground. She was done for. She was dead.
Crosspaw awoke with a gasp, eyes flickering back and forth in the apprentice den with uneasiness. It was night, and pitch black, but she had to get away. She ran off and out of Camp, heading to the territory. She accidentally kicked up some of her nest on her way out, and it dropped on a cat beside her; but she was so busy escaping to help them.
When she left Camp, the wind began whistling like inside her dream. The grass was whipping and the bare tree branches shuttered, hitting each other with every flutter of breath. But Crosspaw continued running. When suddenly, a figure took her down.
Crosspaw tussled under the weight, feeling her dream closing in on her. Was it a sign? Was she not supposed to leave the den? "Let go of me!" she cried, twisting around. But the unmistakable scent flooded Crosspaw's nostrils, till she realized who this was.
Rainstorm.
Her mother was dragging her out of the territory, jaws sunk into Crosspaw's leg, sending pain flashes all through her body. "Move or I'll kill you right here," she hissed through clamped teeth. Crosspaw winced as blood trickled out from her leg, "but you're hurting me!" she shrieked. "No, no I'm not. Calm down, Crosspaw." Rainstorm snapped. "And shut up."
Crosspaw breathed loudly to herself, and could hear Rainstorm entering a weird secluded place. Probably a pine forest. But that wasn't the only thing unusual, there were dogs barking, chanting all around the area. "Goodbye Crosspaw," her mother hissed, and tossed her into the forest. The dog barking getting extremely loud, the howling echoing in her ears. The lunging of feet on the ground closing in on her from both sides. "Crosspaw, duck!" a yowl sounded, and a thump of paws fell on the ground. Scents hit her nose, and Crosspaw could adjust her senses on the unidentified cat. "Leopardpaw?" she whispered. The cat nodded, and leaped forward at a dog, slicing its nose into pieces. It yelped and raced off. What a wimp.
He darted up to another, and raked his claws over its eyes; blinding it. The dog staggered backwards, and slammed into other dogs on its scampering off. More dogs entered, to see blood spattered on the ground, but unharmed cats. Its paws buckled from freight and all of them dashed off.
"How did you do that?" Crosspaw asked, eyes wide. "I have ways, now come on, Crosspaw. Lets head to Camp." Leopardpaw murmured, allowing Crosspaw to lean onto him; where she limped easily to Camp.
"Rainstorm did this?" Finchstar asked after the two apprentices had explained what happened. "Yes," Crosspaw nodded. "I don't believe that." Finchstar frowned. "She did, even ask Leopardpaw! You have to do something!" she wailed, now scared of her fox-dung mother. "I'll keep an eye on her, but I wont exile her yet." Finchstar mewed dismissively, and stalked to her den. Crosspaw glanced to her innocent-looking mother, eyes narrowed. She knew she was faking the gestures in Camp, she was all excruciating out on the territory. That flea-bag!
"You should rest, Crosspaw." Finchstar called from her den, "you too, Leopardpaw. Both of you should get some sleep."
The apprentices nodded and headed to their den.
