Crossflame sat in the nursery, when she felt the kits coming. In a flash, she had six kits.
A gray she-kit with orange spots and amber eyes.
A silvery bluish she-cat with long teeth, silky fur, and different colored eyes, one is the color of her mother's and the other is the color of her father's, and she has one gray paw.
(Wolfkit's appearance)
A black furred kit with white splashes on pelt and sky blue eyes. (Can you guys help pick the gender for this one? Male or female?)
A pretty gray tabby she-cat with dark green eyes.
A leopard print furred she-kit with a cream furred muzzle, paws and black end of tail. White underbelly and chest with sky blue eyes.
Crossflame flicked her tail towards the first born. "Spottedkit," she mewed, then to the second born. "Icekit." Then to the third. "Wolfkit." Then to the fourth. "Tigerkit," then to the fifth. "Fernkit." When Leopardwhisker stepped over, he nudged the last born. "I want to name her." He mewed, grinning at their relevance. "Okay," Crossflame purred hoarsely. "Leopardkit." He decided. "After you?" she asked, grinning. "Yes. Exactly after me."
By now the kits had opened their eyes, and all were playing joyously. Rainstar sat astounded by Crossflame having kits, and getting a mate. The Clan was pleading for Rainstar to not break the Warrior code and announce a deputy, but all their hopes failed. She strode over to Jagged Peak, deciding that possibly she did need a deputy to rule the Clan. Or did she not? She could change the ways of the Clans, turn them better than before. She would be in full charge!
"NO! You can't, Rainstar." A voice hissed in her ear, and the figure of Finchstar stood at her side. "I was wrong to have chosen you!" The former leader yowled. "Yes, you were. I never knew a leader would be so foolish," Rainstar snarled. "I never knew you would be so foolish." Finchstar retorted. "I also know who killed me, you think I didn't see?" she began to growl, but just as Finchstar was about to say who, Rainstar lashed her away, leaping up to the top of Jagged Peak. "Cats of the Clan! It is time I chose a deputy." She called. The Clan watched her, thinking they were the ones who talked her into this.
"My deputy will be..." She stared around Camp, looking for someone worthy enough for her, someone strong, someone cunning. That would be loyal and stay by her side,
when she killed Crossflame.
She grunted when she reached the perfect choice, and yowled out the name.
"Lionshade."
The tom blinked submissively, unsure what to do now. In a result of him padding over, a cheering arose from the Clan. Lionshade murmured a thanks to Rainstar, and headed back over to the happy warriors.
Tigerkit leaped over to Lionshade. "Your deputy!?" the kit asked. Spottedkit bounded to Tigerkit's side. "Uncles leader next?" she asked quizzically. "YAYYYY!" Wolfkit cheered. The kits all began cheering as a result to the occasion. Fernkit was only smiling, she wanted to help with the herbs, learn some more. (Is she going to be a med. cat? Or warrior)
Heatherfoot padded out to the other cats. "I've found out who killed Finchstar!" she yowled to the Clan. Her gaze flickered upon someone, but she looked back to the Clan. "And it is..."
"Heatherfoot, may you tell me alone?" Rainstar asked, motioning out of the Clan Camp. Heatherfoot nodded, and the two left.
As they reached outside of Camp, Heatherfoot turned on her. Rainstar had her claws unsheathed, mental eyes flaring. She leaped at Heatherfoot, and the medicine cats' world went black.
"Heatherfoot's dead? She can't be!" Cries arose from the Clan. "A badger came by, I tried to chase it away, and managed soon after. But Heatherfoot endangered herself and followed it out, even though she isn't a warrior. She wanted to watch it." The leader meowed, rubbing her bloody claws on the ground.
Heatherfoot was supposedly viciously slaughtered by a badger, though the badger had not done it.
The slaughter had occurred from Rainstar. (If it wasn't obvious).
Crossflame watched her mother disdainfully. "Are you sure it was a badger?" the new queen asked, silently murmuring to herself. "And not a badger-brain."
"Yes." Rainstar nodded.
"Really?" she demanded.
"Of course." Rainstar's words came out a growl, and her orbs narrowed. Crossflame was surely next if she accused Rainstar of this. "Okay. Just making sure it wasn't another Clan." Crossflame lied and turned back to her sleeping kits.
