Hello! *blushes*

So, I kind of disappeared... I'm sorry. I'm trying to finish college, and so far I can't help but feel like I don't know anything! D: I wrote this small chapter to try to relax before the final test ( I don't know the name actually... To defend my thesis? dunno know...).

So, I hope you guys enjoy it! As I said on the first chapter, I never finished the game, so I don't know anything about the final battle against Alduin, so please, no spoilers! ^^

Enjoy!

Chapter 19

Nihren woke with a startle. She moved to sit up, but she immediately changed her mind when her ribs protested. Laying back down, she tried to control her racing heart and to calm her wounded body with deep breaths. Well, as deep as one could with a pair of broken ribs and sore muscles.

Besides her, Farkas woke up with her gasp, and was now watching her in silence, trying to evaluate if she needed help. She raised a hand to her head, rubbing her forehead and pushing her hair back, trying to clear her mind from the fear the memory had brought.

Even one week after defeating Alduin, she would still wake up at the memory of his open mouth ready to breathe fire right in front of her while she was still struggling to get up. Wincing, Nihren moved her broken leg on the bed, trying to find a better position to it. Carefully, Farkas took hold of her hand, silently giving her strength.

They weren't talking about it, but her leg's fate was heavy on their minds. There wasn't much to be done. Her femur had been completely broken, in a way that never again she would be able to proper run, jump, or put too much weight on it, and would be faded to walk with a heavy wobble forever. And let's not forget the pain it would bring her whenever she pushed it too hard or when it was cold.

Nihren didn't knew what was worst. The pain of not being able to do things she could easily do before or the pitying looks she would get while walking on the streets. So, she preferred not to talk about it and stay as quiet as possible on the bed in order to her leg to fix itself, while praying to the gods for it not be so bad.

Turning her head, she looked at Farkas adorable eyes, so full of worry and care for her. The fact that there wasn't anything he could do to fix it was killing him inside, and so he was doing whatever he could to help. Even if that means he had to sleep one arm away from her in order not to wake any of her wounds.

Taking his hand to her lips, she gave his knuckles a soft kiss, assuring him that she was fine, and gave him a small smile. In the weak light of the lone candle in the room, Nihren could barely see his face, but she knew that he could see her better due to his position, so, she mouthed the words she wanted to whisper against his lips.

I love you.

Leaning over carefully, Farkas pressed his lips to her head and caressed her cheek, whispering I love you too... I'm glad you are back.

She knew her recovery would take time, and that it was going to be hard and painful, but she didn't have to worry. Alduin was dead, the civil war was over, and all she had to worry about now was how to spend the rest of her life with her husband.

Finally, she and Farkas could have a proper family without having to fear about the future. Finally, all she would have to worry about was stupid things like, if they should grow potatoes or cabbages. Should she grow her hair? Would Farkas let a beard grow? Were they going to have sons or daughters?

With those warms thoughts flowing around her head, she went back to sleep, feeling Farkas warm hand holding her and the free view of the future she could have.
