MOD: ANTHROPOMORPHIC TAKEOVER
SECRET FILES
#001: The School
Scorp Reptiliaux slouched against the window, looking outward at the Concrete Sector. He wished Modians could walk the planet without worry of agitated spiciest humans bringing them harm. His snake-like tounge slithered out every now and then, involuntarily taking in the scents of the outside world and everything within the High-Level classroom. He felt by himself even when he was around others. It wasn't their fault, though. He didn't feel like he was as good of a leader as he should be.
Is that why he oppointed Midnight to be his co-moderator? Splitting the power evenly among the two conferences was only fair, since there were so many members now. Yet, was there another reason? Did Scorp split the power because he really felt that it was too much for him to carry on his own? He'd always been this fearless freak that everyone was scared of. Contrary to popular belief, he didn't want that. No one said it now, but he's bet any Modian any amount of dice that there were members of the Association that were scared shitless of him still.
And there was nothing he could do about it.
The reptile moved his right claw from his jacket pocket to the medallion that hung from his neck. It was his mother's. She had given it to him days before her death, as if she had seen it coming, How does someone live like that? Knowing the day of your extermination like it was some business appointment?
"Knock, knock." Scorp gasped lightly, and looked over toward the door of the classroom. Zentalia Lee was standing there, leaning against the door with one hand on her petite hip. The reptile smiled, as the skunk continued speaking, "Are you ready to get out of here yet?"
Scorp looked back out toward the tall buildings and rail yards, "It's not everyday you get to visit your old high school Zent," he was still gripping the medallion, the pain of his loss slowly subsiding.
"I know," the girl wrapped her arms around the boy's waist, "But you've been in here for a few hours now. Some of the others are worried about you."
Scorp rested his own claws on his girlfriend's hands, "Eh, they're all tough dudes. Besides, Midnight's around isn't he?"
"Who knows? If he is, the fool's probably asleep, training, or practicing his Batman voice." They both couldn't help laughing at Zentalia's quip.
"Besides," she continued, "Midnight is not you, brother or cousin or whatever. He's a cool guy and all, but he isn't my boyfriend. You are." The reptile could feel her warmth on his back, and it was doing a good job combating his grief.
"My Mom would always be waiting outside for me during 9th term. Her bright blue McKenal Voice SUV was unmistakable amongst the other vehichles in the parking lot. I didn't care who called me immature. Hell, I've still got some growing up to do. Mama just made it a little easier to do so."
"You think she'd want you to stand here and sulk over it, though?" Zentalia stepped back from her soul mate, which caused the older boy to turn in her direction, "Or would she want you to acknowledge her existence for a while, then get back to fulfilling the will of the Reptiliaux name with Midnight?"
The scorpion stood there, taking in his girl's words. He smirked. That was just like Zentalia. She could be an air-head at times, but she always knew exactly what to say when he was in a foul mood. One of the things he loved about her.
Scorp gripped his medallion once more, bringing it toward his face, then he lowered it so his immediate vision would be directed right at his Zentalia.
He nodded, "You're right," Scorp allowed his medallion to drop to his chest completely, and held his hand out to the skunk, who quickly accepted it, "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Zentalia blushed happily. The two of them shifted through the classroom door, toward the front entrance. The young adult thought to himself, hoping that his message would reach the Labyrinth in the sky.
See you later Mom…I'll talk to you again soon…
