Hey guys, sorry it took so long, I've been having loads of trouble with this chapter... but here it is! Finally!
WHEN WE WERE KIDS
CHAPTER THIRTY SIX
"Luuuucyyyy...Luuuucyyyy..." A voice said, and then soft lips pressed against my neck. I opened my eyes, smiling.
"Hey." I said, putting my hand to where his head was.
"Morning, you slept soundly." He said.
"Same to you. I didn't feel the slightest sleepwalk." I told him. Natsu was holding me around my waist, his head in the crook of my neck. I turned over to face him. "We had sex." I said, remembering. He laughed.
"Now you remember? Yes, we did." He said, kissing me.
"And it was fabulous." I added.
"Yes, it was." He agreed, before kissing me again.
"And right about know would be the moment you say something pervy that ruins the very romantic situation."
"Correct. Your boobs are bigger without a bra." He said, as I felt a hand snake up inside my top.
"Shut the hell up!" I laughed, slapping his hand. "Come on, let's do something!" I said, as I jumped out of bed.
"What?" He sighed, sitting up...shirtless...his skin a beautiful tanned colour in the morning light that was coming in from the window...
"U-um... Let's go down town!" I said, walking to the kitchen. I stopped, and took another step, smaller. "Ow." I said, as, once again, pain shot through my thigh.
"What?"
"After effects." I said, before continuing to walk to the kitchen, ignoring it.
I sighed, once on my own in the bathroom. We had eat breakfast together, talking, once again, about everything and nothing. It was just nice to spend time with him, especially after what we had done. I suppose I was meant to feel more mature, more...intelligent, but it didn't really change anything, apart from one thing, I only loved Natsu a lot more. I started to take of my clothes for a shower, and I looked in the mirror. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, a mark to prove it? I did have marks, love bites, all over my chest. Guess no cleavage showing for a while... also, there was a little bite mark on my hip, Natsu was honestly a sadist. Guess that worked out, I think I was a masochist. I put my hand in my hair, and closed my eyes... that intense pleasure I had felt, that moment when we were tangled up together...when we had felt more close than ever before, did he share that same feeling as me? Undoubtedly.
I ran the taps, and stepped into the steaming hot water. Showers could make anyone feel better. Not that I needed to feel better...
"Okay, are you ready?" He asked me, once he came back in through the window, freshly dressed and washed.
"Yes I am." I said, getting up and walking towards him.
"In that case, may I escort you into town, miss Heartfilia?" He asked, putting on a posh accent, and bowing, holding out his hand.
"It would be my pleasure." I laughed, as he placed a kiss on my hand.
Before I was friends with anyone, I always wondered the point of holding hands. What's so special about it? It's just annoying, it makes your hands go sticky in summer, and in winter it feels like they've frozen together. I used to wonder that when I saw couples, like Levy and Gajeel, they did a lot of hand holding. But walking down, hand in hand with Natsu, I completely forgot that prejudisme I had. Holding hands... it was one of those small gestures, but that could stick to you for life, like a stranger smiling at you on the street, or somebody saying your hair looks nice. Except with hands, it proved the other one was there, not in danger, with you, just that little bit closer.
"I love weekends." Natsu said.
"Me too." I smiled.
"Do you know what else I love?" He grinned.
"Um...a lot of things..." I guessed.
"True, but I was going along the line of milkshakes!" He said, as he pulled me towards the milkshake parlor. I laughed at him.
I waited at the table outside as he went into the parlor. He came out, carrying two milkshakes, vanilla and strawberry, and spicy chocolate. He sat down in front of me, and smiled.
"There you go." He said, as he sat down.
"Thanks. That's the same flavour you had the first time I met you." I said, pointing at his drink.
"As is yours. You should try this one." He said, pointing at his milkshake.
"Um, okay..." I said, as he took the straw out of my milkshake, put his in the middle, and put my straw in it. He put his in the middle of the table. Very clichè.
"Go ahead." He said, putting his lips around his straw. I shyly did so, and blushed. I tried to look him in the eye, but I recognised that look. We both burst out laughing.
"Okay, way to cheesy again!" I laughed.
"I know, I just wondered if..."
"If what?"
"We were like a normal couple." He smiled.
"Tsch...us? Normal? That's funny." I said, taking my straw back out and putting it in my own drink."
"Yeah, I guess." He laughed.
"Natsu! Lucy!" I heard someone call. I turned my head, to see Erza walking over, someone was behind her. Her literature tutor, the student representative, and her friend, Jellal. He was smiling at her.
"Hi Erza!" I said, waving.
"Hey, how are you too going?" She asked. Natsu was keeping quiet, his eyes down, for some reason.
"U-um, fine, what about you? Hi Jellal." I said, as the silent guy came and sat down next to Natsu, and Erza next to me.
"I'm good." She said, looking at Natsu, who still had his eyes down. I looked at her stare, but was unable to see if it was hostile or not.
"Morning Erza!" Natsu finally said, raising his head and smiling. "And you Jellal." He smiled. I looked questioningly at him, he ignored me.
"So...why are you in town?" She asked us.
"We're just spending some time together." I said throwing Natsu a smile. He took my hand from across the table, Erza flinched.
"Yes. Together." He said, stroking it. I looked confused, as did Jellal.
"Um...what about you two?" I asked. I noticed Erza blush slightly.
"School...stuff..." she mumbled.
"Yes. We were looking at Cardia Cathedral, for history." He said, being a much better liar.
"Exactly." Erza said.
"Oh, and what were you doing in this part of town? Cardia Cathedral is the other side." Natsu said. I noticed Erza give in another stare.
"We...Erza..."
"Lucy, have you finished?" Natsu asked me.
"Wait, what?" I said, as he got up. He leant across the table, extending his hand towards my cheek. Erza's hand snapped around his wrist, stopping him going any further.
"Don't." She said, in a voice that could freeze hell over.
"I knew it." He snarled, sitting back down, snatching his hand out of her grip.
"What?" I asked again.
"She still thinks I'm crazy and out to kill you." He said, giving her the most angriest look possible.
"Is that true?" I asked her.
"Yes." She replied, not keeping her glance off Natsu. I sighed in outrage and annoyance.
"He's not trying to kill me! We explained the whole thing to you, and I know he isn't trying to kill me!" I said.
"I don't buy it." She replied.
"I don't want to kill her." Natsu said.
"Yeah right." Erza said.
"It's true, Erza! I love him and he loves me! Do you need proof?" I said, getting up.
"Yes." She replied.
"Well, it's true because..." I stopped speaking, closed my mouth, and just looked at him. He looked at me, and laughed.
"Because?" She asked again.
"Because..." I continued.
"Because of the way she does that. Look, at that small blush. Even though we're a thing, that small blush never stops. Because I always, even if I know she isn't there, look out of my window to see if she's looking out to. Because even though she pretends to be annoyed for some reason, I know she's actually finding it funny. Because she's the beginning of the rest of my life." Natsu said, looking at me directly in my eyes. That topped it. I could never love him more. If I did, my heart would probably burst out of the sheer affection for him.
"You totally did it." Jellal said, ruining the moment.
"They totally did it." Erza agreed. "Okay, I believe you for now, but if I so much as see a scratch on Lucy, you are mince meat." She said.
"Yeah yeah..." he said, sitting back down. I was still slightly fazed by what he had said.
"Come on, Erza, let's leave these two in peace." Jellal smiled, before taking her hands, and pulling her away. Natsu sighed again.
"Well..." I said. I felt Natsu's foot under the table, nudge mine.
"What?" I asked him. He smiled, and shook his head.
"Finished?" He asked me. I nodded, and we walked through town, hand in hand.
"Natsu?" I finally asked.
"Yep?"
"Last night...did you...like it?" I asked. He put his arm around my waist.
"Have you been worrying about whether I liked or not?" He asked me. I lent on his shoulder.
"Not really. Well..a bit...it's just, I mean..."
"Lucy, did I seem like I wasn't enjoying it?" He asked. I didn't reply. "Okay, and did I say after that that I didn't like it?" I stayed silent again. "Because that was the most amazing thing I have been through in all my life, and trust me, we are doing it again." He said, before nuzzling into the crook between my neck and blowing slightly. I laughed, and cringed away at the tickling sensation.
We arrived back at my house, and found Silver and Mokarov there, they had grave looks on their faces.
"Hey, so, wherever you went, how was it?" I asked. Silver sighed.
"Lucy, sit. You too Natsu." She ordered. I gulped, what had we done? Unless...
Oh god, she couldn't? How could she?
"This is a serious matter." Mokarov piped in.
"What? We haven't done anything against the law." Natsu defended.
"This isn't about the law." She said.
"So we are allowed. Done. Dealt with. Goodnight, final point." I said, getting up.
"It isn't about whether your allowed to do whatever or not, this about something way more important than anything in your life." Mokarov said. I raised my eyebrows, and sat back down.
"We haven't done-"
"We know you haven't done anything wrong. This is about why someone is trying to kill you." Silver said. I stopped breathing for a second.
"Why? Are you going to finally tell us?" Natsu said.
"No. We don't know ourselves, well, we have a vague idea." Silver said.
"What is going on? Why is someone trying to kill us, you know the answers." I said. Mokarov sighed.
"Natsu, it's about your father." He said. There was absolute silence.
"What about my father?" Natsu finally said, angry.
"You don't remember anything about him, do you?"
"No." Natsu said. I heard his clenched teeth.
"And Lucy, do you remember anything about those scars on your waist?" Silver asked. I put my hand where they were.
"No...but how would the two be related?" I asked, confused.
"We think...we think somebody's been leaving a trail. A trail through time." Mokarov said.
"I don't understand..." I said. He wasn't making any sense.
"Look, you two. How did you feel about each other the moment you met?" Silver asked. Natsu raised his head, and smiled at me.
"I felt like I had known her an eternity..."
"Same, like as if we had been friends all-" I stopped, understanding.
"All your life. Exactly. You've known each other before." Mokarov said. Natsu's eyes became wide, and my mouth opened in bewilderment.
"H-how would you know?" Natsu said, taking my hand.
"Well...thanks to this." Mokarov said, holding up a dagger, with a handle that looked like as if was made out of amber.
