Guest - it may only get worse for Tom now...
496 Dannys POV
Waking up, I knew immediately that something was wrong...something was very, very wrong. The bed was too wide, too cold. What the hell? Opening my eyes, I found that I was alone, no-one was in the room with me, Tom wasn't here! "Tom? Tom honey, where are you?" I called, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. They landed on the bedside table, the lamp was still on (as it now always was, because the monsters couldn't get us if there was even the smallest of lights on) and Toms glasses were still on the table too. He wouldn't have gotten up without them, would he? "Tom? Answer me, where are you?" I called again, realising I hadn't gotten an answer yet. It worried me no end when I didn't get an answer, so I quickly crawled out of bed and checked around the bedroom, checking the bathroom and the wardrobe, hell, even under the bed. But Tom wasn't here!
"Tom!? Stop being silly now, come out from wherever you're hiding!" I shouted, pulling on a pair of jogging bottoms, before stumbling down the corridor. "what are you shouting about now?" Carrie came out of her room, looking confused. "is Tom in there with you?" I asked, she shook her head. "no, isn't he with you?" Carrie now started to look a bit worried. "no, he's not! He's got to be hiding somewhere!" I ran down the stairs, hearing Carrie start to call for her brother, while I ran through the whole of downstairs, growing more and more panicked when I couldn't find Tom.
"I can't find him, he isn't upstairs!" Carrie ran into me as I ran past the stairs. "he isn't down here either, or in the garden! Oh god, where the hell is he?!" I panicked, to say the least I panicked! Tom couldn't be on his own for too long! He wasn't well, he wouldn't survive on his own, he didn't understand things! He couldn't be by himself right now! My head conjured up the worst images, the images I had cut out of my head, refused to think about. The images of my Tom, cold and alone somewhere, no idea where he was or what he was doing. I hadn't thought of them for over a year, since Tom was found and brought to hospital. It drove me insane to even think of Tom out of my sight, let alone when I had no idea where he was!
"Tom! Tom where are you?" I ran outside, shouting his name over and over, hoping to god that Tom actually responded for once to his own name. "Tom! Tom for gods sake answer me! Where are you?" I shouted, looking around the field behind our houses frantically. This could not be happening right now, not right now, not when it was only 2 weeks before the 2 year anniversary of Toms first disappearance. Not now, this couldn't be happening! "Danny! Whats happened? Wheres Tom?" Harry ran up with Dougie, the both of them looked so panicked already. "I-I don't know! I don't know! He's not in the house and not in the garden! I don't know where he is!" I felt my lungs collapse inside my chest saying it out loud. My Tommy, my poor, poor baby Tommy was out here somewhere, lost and alone, and I couldn't find him! I swore that I would always look after him, but I was failing right now! I had no idea where he was! My arms started to itch, calling out for me to start scratching and punishing myself for this. It was all my fault, I should have made sure Tom was in bed and comfy before falling asleep, I should have held him tighter so he couldn't get out, should have locked that stupid back door!
"what?! He's not here? How is he not here? Whoa Dougie!" Harry caught Dougie as he fainted, straight away, he just fainted. He clearly knew the date too, had the same thoughts as me, the pain on the poor boys face enough to tell me that he was thinking about it. "look after Dougie, I'll carry on looking." I helped Harry pick Dougie up properly, before running off, calling out again and again as I ran into the woods, the only other place I could think of that Tom might have gone through. "Tom! Tommy! Please answer me! Are you in here?!" I practically screamed, feeling my voice start to go, running around the forest, half hoping that Tom hadn't got himself lost in here.
"Tom! Tom answer me! Are you in here?" I screamed this time, listening for anything that sounded remotely like Tom. And there it was, crying, the sound of crying. I thundered towards it, running as fast as possible towards the sound, finally catching sight of bright blonde hair and pale skin. "Tom! Stay there! Stay right there, don't move." I shouted, running towards him. "Tom, oh god, you're so cold and dirty! Oh baby come here!" I wrapped Tom into my arms and realised how much Tom was shivering. How long had he been out here for?!

"Dougie come on, wake up! Wake up now, we need to find Tom!" I tapped Dougies cheek lightly, trying not to hurt him. "Dougie come on! We need you awake right now!" I encouraged, tapping a little harder. It was never this hard to get him to wake up, and when we needed him awake to help search, this was not the best time to be fainting! "Dougie come on! Wake the hell up!" I realised then that maybe it was a good thing that Dougie wasn't awake to spend the whole time worrying his head off. "okay, sleep Dougs, it'll be fine soon. We'll find Tom before you wake up." I whispered, kissing his hair gently, standing up and hoping that Dougie wouldn't end up worrying himself to death if he woke up.
I ran outside to the front door, seeing Carrie outside there too. "have you seen him?" I asked, looking around frantically. "no, I haven't. Dannys running around out back, and I haven't seen any signs of him out here." Carrie sighed, looking around frantically. "sh*t, where the hell could he have gone? He can't have gone that far!" I looked around, trying to think of something. "guys in here now!" Danny shouted, we ran back in again, sighing in relief when we saw that Tom was in his arms. Though, he looked awful, truly awful. He was so pale, shivering madly, dirt covering him. "get me warm clothes, he's so cold! Oh baby shhh, its okay, you're safe now." Danny sat Tom down on the floor next to the radiator, rubbing his tensed back, trying desperately to warm him up. Tom was still rocking back and forth, whimpering that he was so lost.
"you're not lost anymore Tommy, its going to be okay. Completely okay. Shhh baby." Danny whispered, kissing Toms head, pulling Toms tshirt off and putting on the warm hoodie I gave him, keeping the boys arms inside it. "so lost, so lost, so dark!" Tom cried, literally shaking with cold and fear. "you're not lost anymore Tom, we're here, you're home now. Its okay, shhh." Danny wrapped a blanket around Tom too, holding him so close.
Dougie then made a small whimpering sound, I stumbled over to his side within seconds, wanting to be with him when he finally came back to the real world. He whimpered again and opened his eyes, looking at me straight away. "welcome back Doug." I smiled, hugging the boy close. "T-Tom! Where is he?" Dougie asked immediately, rushing to sit up. "he's right here Dougs, we found him, look!" I smiled, pointing at Tom. Dougie writhed out of my arms and went straight to Toms side, hugging the boy. "so dark, so lost. So lost." Tom carried on mumbling to himself, his shivers finally calming down. "its not dark anymore Tommy, you're here, you're safe, you're not lost anymore." Danny rubbed Toms back, trying so hard to warm him up.
It took hours to get Tom to stop shivering and to warm up. All of us where whispering to him that he was safe and he wasn't lost anymore, trying to calm him down, trying our hardest to warm him up at the same time, wrapping blankets around him and holding him, transferring our body heat to him. "shh, shhh Tom, shh. Relax, you're safe and warm now." Danny kissed Toms head, finally relaxing him a little.
