Finally an update! I am so sorry guys. I mapped out some of the chapters so maybe it won't take as long to update – but I can't make any promises. Totally lame I know. I am just not as prolific as some other writers. So thank you so much for your patience. I really appreciate it.

Anyway – thank you for all your reviews and follows and favorites. I can't believe I have over 500 follows for this story. Mind: BLOWN!

Also if you haven't noticed I have a cover for my story! It was made by the lovely klaroline-fantasies. She is on FF and on tumblr if you want to check her out.

And make sure you check out Klaroline Magazine as well. Totally awesome. And I am not just saying that because they mentioned me twice. Haha just kidding – I am totally saying that because they mentioned me twice.

It has been a week since that incident at her front door. She tried her best not to think about it, but it was impossible not to.

Because you are my girl, love. You are the mother of my child, the woman I want to be with and take care of. You are it for me Caroline.

Every time she replayed the words in her head it sent her heart racing. Given their past history she did not know if she could truly trust what he came out of his mouth. Was he in love with her? His words implied as much but it was not the same thing as saying it. Plus he had spoken such sweet words to her before, like when he told her that he fancied her. His sincerity was to be doubted given his actions betrayed his words when he had left her.

She still loved him, despite everything he had done but she didn't trust him. Caroline didn't know if she wanted to have a romantic relationship with him ever again, but she had to have some sort of relationship because of the child she carried. Yet how could she have any kind of relationship with him when she could not trust him. She had told him quite plainly that they would be unable to move forward with mending their relationship until he allowed Stefan to come back and she had yet to see any movement from him in regards to that.

Caroline sighed as she shook the thoughts from her mind and turned her attention at packing for her weeklong trip to Paris. It was a stray ray of sunshine in her life; it would take her away from the drama that was London. London was the first place she had ever traveled to outside of the United States and it had sated her wanderlust for a time. Her work assignment to interview some English designer who was based out of Paris could not have come at a better time. She even took a few vacation days so she could spend some time exploring the city. How much of the city she was going to be able to explore was questionable seeing as she was almost six months pregnant, but Caroline Forbes was anything if not determined.

With one last check around the flat to make sure appliances were off and unplugged, windows locked and everything on her check list packed she closed her suitcase and zipped it up. Pulling it off the bed and on to the floor she pulled on her messenger back and made her way out the door rolling her suitcase behind her.

She was mentally checking off her travel list once more in her head, doing a quadruple check to make sure she wasn't forgetting anything and suddenly everything she was trying to remember was gone and out of her head the moment she stepped out of the building.

"Nik what are you doing here?" Caroline growled as she came to a stop before the man who was leaning lazily against his Range Rover just outside of her flat.

"I'm picking you up for our trip to Paris, love." Klaus said with a smirk as he came forward to pluck the suitcase out of her hand.

"What do you mean our trip to Paris? You were not invited and how the hell did you even know I was going to Paris?" Caroline said as she held on to her suitcase, refusing to hand it over to Klaus.

"I have my ways." Klaus grinned as he wiggled his brows and peeled her fingers off of the handle of the suitcase. One her hand was off he quickly handed off the luggage to his driver who opened up the trunk of the SUV and neatly tucked the bag next to a black suitcase that she could only assume was Klaus's.

"Seriously!" She said as she rolled her eyes. "You are not invited creepy stalker."

"Seeing as this will be your first trip to Paris and I remember something about you enjoying the tourist traps and with that in mind I believe I have some groveling I must attend to. So I invited myself to your little trip."

"Well I am uninviting you." Caroline said forcefully as she gave Klaus a stern look.

"It's not like you can stop me, sweetheart."

Caroline crossed her arms and fought everything inside of her not to stomp her foot in irritation at Klaus acting like the douche bag alpha male that he is.

"But I don't have to travel with you."

Klaus just smirked as he tilted his head back, his eyes going up towards the sky for a moment as he shrugged his shoulders before looking back at her.

"Actually you do, I have cancelled your train ticket as well as your hotel room."

"What! Oh my GOD! No you did not do that!" Caroline's eyes went wide at his confession and quickly took her smart phone out of her messenger back and opened up her email and found alerts confirming the cancellation of her hotel and train ticket.

"You jerk! Do you know how hard it was for me to get those reservations?!" Caroline yelled as she darted forward and smacked Klaus in his chest.

"Ow! Easy, sweetheart." Klaus groaned as he jumped out of the way as she lifted her hand to hit him once more.

"I'll show you easy! You had no right to do that Nik!"

"Of course I did, sweetheart. I am not going to allow you to take the train to Paris by yourself nor was I going to let you to stay in some low rate hotel." Klaus said with a frown.

"Did you just say allow?" Her eyes squinting into slits as her hands balled up into fists.

"Love, you and this baby are my priority. I will not allow anything to compromise your safety." Klaus said honestly, although if he was being truly honest he would admit that he was using this trip as an opportunity to spend time with her and maybe even woo her.

And with that confession Caroline lost it.

"Are you kidding me?! Who the hell do you think you are to cancel my reservations and take over my trip because you think you are allowed to do so! Absolutely fucking not! You are not some king over me and this isn't the middle ages where you think I need permission to do anything without your say so. What are you like a billion or something?! Seriously!"

Klaus felt his temper snap as Caroline chastened him for his actions that he felt were justifiable.

"I will not apologize to you Caroline. You are my responsibility and I will not be found lacking."

"I am not your responsibility!"

Klaus growled and moved forward, his hands grasping her elbows and pulled her against his body. Releasing one of her elbows he cupped her face and pulled it up and forward so that their noses were just inches apart. She could feel his breath fanning against her lips as their eyes met.

"You are mine Caroline."

"No, I am not!"

Their breathing was hard as they faced off. And it was there, their close proximity igniting that lustful pull that was between them. Their eyes were searching one another's as he held her close against him, fighting the urge to claim her lips and make her his.

"Yes you are." Klaus said quietly and confidently as his fingers slid along the curve of her cheek, enjoying the soft blush that graced her cheeks that was caused by his touch as the energy between them shifted.

"Nik." She murmured softly almost like a plea, but before anything else could happen the tension was broken by the driver as he reminded them of the time.

"Come, love. We have flight to catch." Klaus said easily as he maneuvered her to the SUV holding the door open, watching her climb in with hungry eyes before climbing in after her.

Caroline pulled off her messenger bag setting it beside her and pulled the seatbelt across her body and into the buckle. Her hands resting on her bulging belly as she glanced at Klaus as he got into the SUV. She was a little shaken at how quickly her anger had changed to lust and thanked whatever God would listen to her that the driver had interrupted them before things could go any further.

Klaus gave her his lady killer smile, dimples coming out full force as he slid next to her and closing the back door to the Range Rover.

Caroline rolled her eyes as she rubbed her rounded belly absently, settling into the seat and looked out the window as the driver started the SUV and started driving.

A small smiled pulled at his lips as he watched Caroline, the sunlight making her golden locks glow and that little pale pink sweat suit hugging her luscious curves drove his imagination wild. He was pleased he managed to get her into the SUV worried that she would flat out refuse to leave with him. He was thankful for the fact that she had a job to do in Paris was the driving force of her agreeing to go with him. He felt relieved that the hard part of the plan was over.

The plan had all started when he saw she had marked Paris and interview on her calendar. It was easy enough to bribe someone at the magazine she worked for to give him information on her booking information since it was the magazine that was paying for it. After booking accommodations for the two of them he waited until the last possible moment to cancel her reservations and then sat back and waited for her to come out side.

Paris was the city of love and he was going to fully take advantage of that fact. After his talk with Elijah he had come to the realization he had made a horrible mistake in leaving her. Mikael had reached out from the grave and taken his happiness away once again. Of course he couldn't put the blame solely on Mikael, he had some to accept the responsibility of his part in the mess that was his love life and was fully committed to fixing it. He was bound and determined to mend the breach his actions had created.

"You know it is rude to stare."

"When so much beauty is before me, how can I not?"

Caroline rolled her eyes as she turned to look at him, her eyebrows pulled together as she gave him her 'seriously' look. Klaus just shrugged as he lifted his hand to smooth back a few stray curls, tucking them gently behind her ear.

Caroline smacked away his hand, giving him a reproachful glare before looking back out the window, trying desperately to hide the blush that graced her cheeks from his simple touch.

It wasn't long before they reached the airfield. Caroline had though they were going to Heathrow given that he had canceled her train ticket, but they actually ended up going to a smaller airfield because they were going to be flying privately which Caroline discovered as the Range Rover pulled onto the runway next to a small jet.

Caroline just shook her head as she stepped out of the SUV, glancing at Klaus who followed her out before looking at the jet once more.

"You seriously do not own your own plane."

Klaus just smirked as he settled a hand against her lower back and escorted forward. The cabin was spacious and elegant, a characteristic she was not at all surprised to find as the Mikaelson's were nothing if not extravagant but it was always tempered with a classiness that was a hallmark of their family. Well except maybe Kol, she wasn't sure he had a classy bone in his body.

Klaus guided her to one of the seats, falling into place next to her, his hand smoothing along the curve of her shoulder before letting his hand fall into his lap. Caroline shot him a hard look letting him know she was very much aware of his 'assisting touches' and she was so not happy about it. Klaus of course just gave a slight shrug of his shoulders at the look, not at all sorry for his advances.

As the luggage was loaded onto the jet and the driver appeared at the door holding Caroline's messenger bag. He moved forward handing the bad to Caroline as she gave him a sheepish smile taking the bad and giving him a polite thank you before placing it on the floor and tucking it under the seat in front of her. Shaking her head she touched her forehead with her fingertips before mumbling a soft "stupid pregnancy brain" just under her breath.

Klaus smiled at her little comment and leaned over to press a gentle kiss against her temple at which he received a light smack against his chest.

"Stop doing that!"

"I can't help it, love. You're adorable." Klaus said with a smirk, his hand lifting to run his fingers along the curve of her cheek at which his hand got the same treatment his chest did.

"Ugh! You're so grabby today."

Before Klaus could continue to taunt her further the pilot came into the cabin, sharing a few words with Klaus letting him know the flight check was finished and they were ready for takeoff. Klaus gave his nod of approval and the pilot shut the cabin door and moved into the cockpit. After a few moments the jet engines roared to life and the jet started forward to taxi down the runway.

Just as they started to pick to speed for lift off Caroline's hand was suddenly around his. Klaus glanced up at her in surprise, his brow furrowing in confusion. She looked as if she was ready to throw up, her small body tensed and her face pale. In fact she looked as if waiting for disaster to strike. Klaus took Caroline's other hand that was clawing the arm rest into his own and lifted both of her hands to his lips, pressing soft kisses against the back of her hands and squeezed them reassuringly.

Caroline was always nervous around planes as the first time she ever was on one was after she turned 20. It absolutely terrified her. She had gotten better over time as it was only the taking off and landing that really made her nervous. Usually liquor really made flying easier, but seeing as she was pregnant she couldn't reply on that source of comfort. So when she grabbed Klaus's hand and the fact that he took one look at her and knew what was wrong, she had thought he would tease her but he just took her other hand and kept them secure in his own, his thumbs rubbing soothing circles along her knuckles.

Once they had leveled off in the air, Caroline pulled her hands from his and gave him a small grateful smile and muttered a quiet thank you. Klaus gave a slight nod of his head, lifting his hand to brush back her hair that had fallen against her face, and this time Caroline did not smack his hand away.

After a few moments of quiet Klaus pulled out his sketch book and a pencil out of a black bag from under the seat and once they were in his hands he turned his attention to Caroline and he started to draw.

"What are you drawing?" Caroline asked quietly, although she was pretty sure she already knew the answer but was hoping maybe he was looking out the window.

"My muse."

Caroline just shook her head, turning away from him to look outside. His words brought to mind the day she had confronted him about being a crime lord. She remembered his expression so vividly when she told him she was still willing to take a chance on their relationship despite his illegal profession. He was so shocked and pleased at her still willing to take the chance on him. And now that was so desperately trying to win her back she wondered if she could ever take the chance on him again.

Now wanting to go down that path Caroline shook herself from her thoughts and looked over at Klaus. The sun was shining through the window as they had gotten above the clouds that were a constant in London. So sure where the clouds in London that she had created a new phrase – instead of as sure as the sun rising it was now as sure as the clouds hanging. Dorky yes, but it was so true.

She couldn't help but feel the pull of her body as she watched Klaus sketch. His curls actually tamed for once, his stubble gracing his cheeks and his hard body clothed in his uniform of jeans and a Henley, the buttons of said Henley open to showcase the necklaces that had a habit of hanging from his neck. It was so unfair how sinfully handsome he was. The only comfort she could take was that at least their child would be good looking, she thought playfully.

Klaus glanced up from his notebook to catch an amused smile pulling at Caroline's lips as she looked at him, which caused his own lips to pull upwards.

"Picturing me naked, love?"

"As if!" Caroline scoffed and looked away for a moment before looking back at him. "I was just watching you draw."

Klaus knew that was a fib giving that her eyes were on him and not on his drawing but he let it go.

"You know one of my landscapes hangs in the Hermitage museum."

"Where is that?"

"In St. Petersburg."

"Couldn't bribe the curators at the Louvre?"

"Yeah, well that's their loss." Klaus said with a slight shrug of his shoulders before speaking once more.

"I'll take you to see it."

"More like coerce me to go see it."

"Think of it as providing more comfortable accommodations. As I assume a private jet is far more comfortable than a crowded train." Klaus's quipped as he looked up at her, his brows lifting as he tilted his head to the side.

Caroline rolled her eyes as she looked away from him. It pained her to admit that he was right. This was far more comfortable than any train could be and faster too.

Klaus smirked and returned his attention back to his drawing his pencil scratching the paper drawing Caroline's attention back to him.

"So is the Louvre one of the tourist traps you will be taking me to?"

"Of course, sweetheart. You are going to love it, genuine beauty, very much like yourself."

Caroline pursed her lips as her head fell to the side at the comment giving him a disapproving look to which he just smiled.

The rest of the short flight was spent in silence, Caroline tried to distract herself with one of the magazines she had brought with her, but it could not hold her attention, as it was constantly pulled towards the man who sat next to her so she gave up and just sat watching Klaus as he continued to draw her.

It was when the pilot announced that they were getting ready to land that Klaus put down his drawing and took Caroline's hands in his. She shot him a grateful look to which he simply kissed her forehead.

Once they were safely on the ground they made a quick trip through customs before they were loaded into an SUV and made their way into Paris and to their hotel. Caroline was glued to the window absolutely delighted with the view. She had such an innate sense of adventure, something Klaus adored about her. He made a silent promise to himself that he would one day show her the world.

The hotel they pulled in front of looked less like a hotel and more like a small palace. The hotel she had booked was economical, nothing close to the extravagant luxury that this hotel all but oozed. The elegance and grace that the place exuded made Caroline painfully wear that she was wearing pink track pants along with matching track jacket. She had assumed she would be traveling for hours and had dressed for comfort rather than style. A sin yes, but pregnancy tended to change a person's priorities.

Klaus of course was right at home as he slid his arm around her back and led her inside, walking in as if he owned the place. He had at first thought to take Caroline to the flat that he owned there, but was in favor at staying at a hotel so that Caroline's middle of the night cravings could be taken care of by room service leaving him with the possibility of have a few nights straight of uninterrupted sleep.

When they entered the suite he had reserved Caroline gave a squeal that was loud enough to make him wince. He really should have warned her that their suite would have panoramic views of the Eifel Tower. She all but ran to the windows, well what passed for running given her current state. She was like a kid on Christmas, her smile huge and her blue eyes shining with delight at having a landmark that she had only dreamed of ever seeing was now right outside her window.

She never looked more beautiful to Klaus then she did then, free of the pain and heartbreak he had caused her, focusing all of her delight on the vision before her. He hoped that she would one day forgive him so that he could make her this happy every single day for the rest of her life because her smile was a vision and brought a lightness to his heart that he didn't know existed.

His talk with Elijah had shifted his prospective because all his life he had thought that he was avoiding heartbreak when he had been doing nothing but sabotaging his chance at happiness. So now he was on a mission to make Caroline his. He was pulling out all the stops and he would have her if it was the last thing he did.

"I still angry with you, ya know." Caroline said as she turned to give him a nice hard glare before it fell from her face as she turned to look out the window again. Her smiling returning as if it had never left her lips.

"Of course you are, sweetheart."

Once Caroline was able to pull herself away from the view she took a moment to look around the suite. It was huge to say the least, there was a living room, dining room and what looked to be a pantry. She was relieved to see that there were two bedrooms, because if there had been only one Klaus would have found himself sleeping on the couch because he was out of his damn mind if he thought he was going to share a bed with her.

Once they had unpacked in their respective rooms, Klaus escorted her to dinner, which was a quaint little hole in the wall restaurant that was possibly the best food she had ever eaten in her entire life. Their dinner conversation was civil given Caroline was put in an impossibly good mood due to the exquisite cuisine she was eating. She insisted on getting an order of food to go knowing that she was going to wake up craving it in the middle of the night.

When they came back to the hotel, Klaus planted a sweet kiss against her cheek and even ducked down to place a kiss against her rounded stomach, wishing the both of them a good night before retreating into his room. If Caroline wasn't still absolutely livid about him hijacking her trip to Paris and the whole getting her pregnant and leaving her thing she would have completely melted at the gesture.

They both settled in for the night sleeping peacefully until Caroline's 2 am wakeup call. The growling of her stomach called her to action, up and out of the bed and to the little fridge that held her bounty from the little French restaurant that had her seriously considering a move to France. Of course the meal was not enough for her so room service was ordered and Caroline did everything she could from jumping up and down with delight when her order was delivered within twenty minutes of calling.

Humming with happiness Caroline was in the middle of munching on her snacks when the sound of a door being thrown open startled her enough to drop her plate.

"Damn." Caroline said as she looked first at the food at her feet and then back up to gaze at a shirtless Klaus who was standing in the doorway of his bedroom looking ready for a fight. Her brows shot up as she let her gaze rake across his toned torso. Those sculpted abs and low hanging pajama bottoms causing a heat to pool at her center and his tussled curls doing nothing to keep her libido in check.

Klaus had thought he was going to get a full night of sleep by staying at the hotel but he found himself half awake, keeping an ear out for trouble as he could not relax knowing Caroline was nearby. Sure his men were around keeping an eye on things but it still did not allow him any sort of peace of mind. Honestly he didn't really think he could fully relax unless she was sleeping in his arms.

He was up and alert the moment he heard a door shut. Throwing the blanket back he rushed to open his bedroom door, his eyes squinting as they adjusted to the light as he did a quick sweep of the room, his gaze landing on Caroline. Her brows were scrunched adorably together as she looked down at her feet before looking up and meeting his eyes. He felt his body start to relax as he realized she wasn't in any danger.

She looked absolutely glorious with her mussed hair and a warm yellow slip of a night gown that hugged her curves, especially her stomach which made a feeling of satisfaction surge within him knowing it was his child she was carrying and that every man who looked at her would know that she was marked. He of course would never let Caroline know this because she would bulk and call him a caveman. Klaus almost wished he was a caveman as it would be infinitely easier to make her his by throwing her over his shoulder and taking her home.

"I should've known you would be out here snacking."

Caroline shot him a glare for the comment before she turned her attention to the food that fell on the floor and as she tried to lean down to pick it up but was impeded from the task by her rounded belly. Just as she was about to slid off the couch he was suddenly kneeling next to her, cleaning up the mess.

"I could have done that myself." She grumbled quietly, lifting up her feet so he could get all of it. Why did he have to do that? Now he was right next to her and oh god she could see the muscles of his back flexing as he worked at cleaning up her mess. All she wanted to do was tackle him and have her way with him, like a lion mauling an antelope. Reach out and thread her fingers through his curls and yank his head back and – she was pulled out of her lustful thoughts by his accented voice that did nothing to ease the heat of her arousal.

"What kind of gentleman would I be if I didn't assist my lady?" Klaus said easily as he finished, his eyes lifting from his task to look at Caroline's long bare legs with appreciation given how close he was to them. His opportunity to appreciate such delights was short lived when Caroline smacked his shoulder.

"Apparently a perverted one. Eyes up here!" Caroline growled as she pointed at her face. She felt a little guilty for admonishing him given the lustful thoughts that were running through her head as she ogled his back.

Klaus chuckled as he lifted the fallen plate and food to rest on the coffee table and looked up at his girl.

"Apologies, love. I could not help myself, you look absolutely ravishing."

Caroline's eyebrows lifted as she gave him an incredulous look.

"Almost six months pregnant, in my night gown, at two-thirty a.m. and you are calling me ravishing?"

Klaus tilted his head, one arm casually resting on his bent knee the other lifting to stroke her cheek causing Caroline's breath to hitch.

"Is that so hard to believe? You are so full of light, Caroline, nothing could ever diminish your beauty."

Caroline felt her chest tighten at his words, her eyes flying up to his as he continued dragging his fingers across the smooth curve of her cheek. She wanted to lean down and kiss him. Press her lips against his and not only kiss him but feel that hard chest under her hands. However, with how completely turned on she was at the moment she knew it wouldn't stop with just kissing and touching. It would escalate and she really didn't want that to happen.

Shaking her head slightly she pulled back from his touch, her eyes tearing away from his as she scooted along the couch until she could stand up without him being in the way. Klaus watched her go, not moving from his position.

"I … I should probably get to bed. I have to be up early for that interview I need to do tomorrow." Her voice shaking slightly as she rubbed her hands together nervously as she backed up towards her room.

"Of course, sweetheart."

"And thank you. For helping me clean up." Caroline said, bobbing her head up and down slightly before turning around and walking into her room.

"It was my pleasure."

Caroline turned at his words, her hands resting against the door jamb as she leaned into it watching as he slowly got to his feet.

"Good night, Nik."

"Good night, sweetheart."
