The week leading up to the OB/GYN appointment was fairly quiet; Caroline had only called Klaus once for a midnight food run during that time frame. Klaus was in good spirits during that meeting, his excitement for the baby appointment overshadowing any annoyance he might have felt having to make a run across town to deliver Caroline's food. Of course he could never be truly annoyed when he was called to bring her food because it gave him an opportunity to see her and at her behest none the less.

Now that they were "friends" Caroline was a lot less hostile towards him, which was evident when he had stopped by to deliver the food. She was pleased to see him and not just because he was caring a large bag of food that would be hard for him to even put away. Not that he would ever mention that to her, he did after all want to live to see his child born. Klaus found it amusing at times that he was the most feared man in London and yet he was terrified of his girl.

They had even texted a few times and her answers actually involved more than terse one word replies.

Tuesday morning dawned gray and cloudy, just another normal day in London, much to Caroline's dismay. As much as she loved living abroad, she did miss having more sunny days than not.

Klaus was early to pick her up, unable to keep his impatience for the doctor visit contained. Lucky for Klaus Caroline was already ready, dressed casually in jeans and a flowing hunter green baby doll top with a white cardigan, she looked like a vision with her bright smile and golden curls. Klaus could feel fingers twitching with the urge to capture the image before him on paper.

Klaus of course was keeping things just as casual with that tortured artist look that he managed to pull off so effortlessly, long sleeved blue t-shirt along with gray cotton pants and a dark burgundy hoodie that hung from his broad shoulders with a faded green jacket that was layered overtop.

"Good morning, sweetheart." Klaus said with a grin as he leaned lazily against the side of the door, his arms crossed across his chest as he looked Caroline over, hardly bothering to conceal his pleasure at seeing her looking so lovely.

Caroline just rolled her eyes and shook her head as she came forward to adjust the collar of his jacket that was sticking up at an odd angle.

"You're early."

Klaus just smirked as his arms dropped to his side as Caroline adjusted his clothing.

"Would you rather have me late?"

"Don't be smart." Caroline quipped as she smoothed his jacket across his chest before retreating into the apartment to slip on her shoes and grab her bag. Klaus was of course thrilled when she had touched him and felt the immediate sense of loss when she moved away.

Caroline of course was a little stunned she did that, willingly touching him but there was no way she was going to have him go out with fixing his jacket. A little voice whispered that she could have just told him, but that voice was quickly told to shut up because she didn't want to think about it more than she already was.

"Sweetheart, you are looking lovely today."

"Sure I do because women who look like they are smuggling beach balls under their shirts totally look lovely." Caroline said with a roll of her eyes as she pushed him away from the door and out into the hall before closing the door and locking it.

"Love, you are carrying my child. How can I not see you as the most stunning creature I have ever beheld?" Klaus said sincerely as his hand slid against her lower back as he escorted her out of the building.

"Is there a reason you are heaping on the charm today?" Caroline huffed, but the compliment did have its intended effect as her creamy cheeks were tinged with just the faintest hint of pink.

Klaus just gave a slight shrug of his shoulder as he helped her into the SUV, taking a moment to lift the hand he was holding to his lips, pressing a small kiss against the back of it before releasing her hand and shutting the door. Walking around to the other side, he slid into the seat next to her and the SUV started off down the street as his door slammed shut.

Not surprisingly at all, the driver knew where to take them for the appointment. Caroline should have known better than to think that Klaus would not know who her doctor was or where she went for her appointments.

"Creeper McCreeperson." Caroline muttered under her breath as he helped her out of the SUV, a smirk playing on his lips at her comment, as he felt no shame in making it his priority to know everything and anything that had to do with his girl and his child.

Once they were in the building and in the office suit Caroline went immediately to the front desk to check in while Klaus fell into one of the empty chairs that lined the wall, his blue eyes flickering over the spattering of people who were patiently waiting their turn to see the doctor. It wasn't long before Caroline joined him, surprisingly sitting in the chair next to him. He was sure that she would have at least put three seats between them but it looked as if today was his lucky day.

Caroline however was coming to regret sitting next to him because Klaus could not keep his hands to himself. His fingers would gently skin across her wrist, hand and arm followed by him tucking her wayward curls behind her ear. Caroline would turn to give him a scowl which he would just give her one of his dimpled smiles. Their little interactions drew the eyes of the inhabitants of the room, most of them females who looked at them with warm smiles that made Caroline blush and Klaus smirk.

"Caroline."

Both Klaus and Caroline looked up at the nurse who was standing at the door holding a file in her hands, looking over the room. Caroline stood up, a polite smile on her face as Klaus followed her up into the back office.

The nurse took Caroline's weight and vitals. Klaus watched the whole process with interest, his knowing smirk absent from his face, it having been replaced with a delighted smile, his excitement for the appointment overriding any sort of sardonic amusement he would normally have reserved for such occasions.

"Please have a seat on the table." The nurse said gently, a smile on her lips as she gave an appreciative glance at Klaus before walking out of the room, earning the nurse a scowl from Caroline that Klaus had the pleasure of catching.

"The doctor will be with you shortly."

As soon as the door shut Klaus turned to Caroline and wiggled his brows at her.

"Love, there is no need to be jealous, you know I am all yours."

Caroline turned a bit pink that he had caught her frowning at the nurse.

"I wasn't jealous. It was just seriously rude for her to check you out like that in front of me. I mean you could have been my boyfriend or something."

Klaus just smirked as he tucked his hands in his jean pockets and rocked back on his heels while Caroline just rolled her eyes at him sticking to her story that she was not at all jealous because that skanky nurse had the nerve to check out Klaus right in front of her.

Their wait wasn't too long after their exchange as there was a succinct knock at their door.

"Doctor Yune." Caroline said sweetly with a smile as the doctor entered the room.

Klaus was immediately put on his guard as the man in question shut the door and came forward to take Caroline's hand, giving it a gentle squeeze before releasing it. The doctor was handsome if you considered a chiseled jaw, broad shoulders and thick black hair handsome and Klaus didn't like the fact that Caroline's smile was somewhat dreamy.

"Caroline, how are you feeling?"

"Good. No more morning sickness which is awesome. The baby is moving around a lot and seems to have a great deal of fun kicking my bladder." Caroline said ruefully as she rubbed her belly gently and the doctor gave her a smile.

Klaus gave a growl under his breath at the familiar behavior the doctor exhibited towards Caroline. Caroline of course caught the reaction and she turned to Klaus and lifted her hand to touch his arm, her brows lifting as she gave a whispered warning.

"Behave."

Luckily enough the doctor did not catch the exchange and continued on with the conversation.

"That is good to hear. Most morning sickness is usually done by the first trimester, so it was unfortunate that yours continued on into the second trimester."

"You didn't tell me you had morning sickness, sweetheart." Klaus said with concern as he tucked a stray curl just behind her ear, his eyes searching her over as if he was looking for anything else that could be wrong with her.

Caroline just shook her head at him and before she could answer him the doctor drew her attention once more.

"I see you brought a friend with you today." Doctor Yune said with a smile as he looked expectantly at Klaus.

"Klaus Mikaelson. I'm Caroline's b-"

"Father of my child." Caroline cut in as she shot Klaus a glare knowing full well what he was about to say.

Klaus just smirked as Doctor Yune just arched a brow at the two of them before speaking once more.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Mikaelson. Is this your first time joining us for an appointment?"

"It is." Klaus said with a slight nod.

"Great. I think you will enjoy it. And since this is your first time with us I have some paper work for you to fill out after the appointment. We are just looking for some family medical history so that we know if we should be looking or testing for something in particular." Doctor Yune said as he pulled a large machine on wheels forward towards the table that Caroline was sitting on.

"Of course." Klaus said easily as he watched the doctor with interest.

"Ok, Caroline, go ahead and lay down and lift up your shirt."

Caroline gave a nod as she laid back onto the table lifting her shirt up so that her belly was exposed.

"Now this is going to be cold." The doctor said as he took a small squeeze bottle from the cart and held it over Caroline's stomach.

"I know the drill." Caroline said with a small laugh that turned into a gasp as the cold gel hit her warm skin.

Putting the bottle away, the doctor flicked on the machine and took the wand that was attached and brought it to her stomach and rolled it in the gel before gliding it across her skin. The screen on the machine came to life and the sound of a rapid heartbeat filled the room.

Caroline wasn't watching the screen though, her eyes were trained on Klaus' face, watching to see the look on his face when he heard their baby's heartbeat for the first time. And Caroline was rewarded with that same awed look and goofy smile that she had seen when Klaus first felt his baby kick. Caroline couldn't help herself as she took his hand in hers and gave it a squeeze drawing Klaus's gaze away from the screen to her, their gazes locked for a moment before breaking away as the doctor spoke once more.

"Baby is looking great, good size, heartbeat sounds good."

The doctor smiled at the two of them, as they gazed at the screen that held the image of their child. The looks of awe on their faces were something that would always be one of the favorite parts of his job.

"So did you decide if you wanted to know the sex of the baby?" The doctor asked as his brows went up, looking back and forth between Caroline and Klaus.

Caroline turned to look at Klaus expectantly. Klaus dropped his eyes from the screen to look at Caroline.

"I would like to know if we are having a girl or a boy." Klaus said quietly as he gave her hand another squeeze.

Caroline had avoided finding out the sex because she didn't want to make it any more real than it already was, but now that Stefan was back in her life and her and Klaus were sort of friends, so she was ready to meet this baby thing head on and gave Klaus a nod of consent.

Klaus gave her a dimpled grin at her ok and looked up at the doctor and gave him a quick nod.

"It's a girl."

"A girl?" Caroline said with a smile, her hand touching her stomach with awe as she looked from the doctor to the screen to look at her baby girl.

"Definitely a girl." The doctor reconfirmed as he moved the wand around her stomach as he watched the screen, pointing out the lack of male genital between the baby's legs.

Klaus smiled as the doctor reconfirmed the sex of their child.

"Sweetheart." Klaus murmured as he lifted her hand he was still holding up to his lips and pressing a soft kiss against her skin.

Caroline's eyes drifted from the screen to the father of her child, reveling in the look on his face of wonder that was sure to be reflected on her own face.

"We're having a baby girl." Caroline whispered quietly as she gazed at Klaus, giving him a huge smile.

"We are." Klaus said in return as he rested his other hand on her stomach, stroking her belly reverently.

Klaus could already see his little girl, he imagined her a mini version of Caroline with her blonde curls and sweet smile. And already he felt the protectiveness that already griped him tighten at the thought of a daughter. And it was ironic that he was going to have a daughter. He had been one of the biggest playboys in London using women as if they were tissues and then just as easily disposing them and now he was going to have a daughter.

He was going to kill any man that got within 2 meters of his daughter.

Caroline's grip on his hand pulled him away from fantasies of pounding any potential boyfriend into the ground, her smiling eyes meeting his.

"Do you have any questions?" Caroline said, repeating what the doctor had asked but Klaus had been too far into his own head to have heard the question.

"No." Klaus said with a shake of his head, his eyes pulling away from Caroline's to look at the screen once more and then to Caroline's belly where his daughter rested.

The doctor pulled the want off of her stomach and shut the machine down. "I will go ahead and print out the pictures of the ultra sound and make sure you set up your next appointment with the staff."

Caroline gave a nod of ok as the doctor held out some tissues for her to wipe down her stomach with. Klaus surprised her as he took the tissues from the doctor and started cleaning the gel from her skin. It shook Caroline with how intimate the gesture was. He was gentle as he slid the tissues across her skin, his eyes focused on her belly; his awed smile was still in place.

His fingers followed the path of the tissue, enjoying the soft skin under his fingertips and leaving goose bumps in his wake. Klaus heard Caroline's breath hitch as he skimmed the tissue and his fingers just under her breasts, drawing his eyes to hers. Their gaze locked and Caroline could feel the heat that ignited between them.

Her heart was pounding in her chest as his hands continued to glide against her skin.

"Nik."

Caroline wasn't sure if saying his name was a plea or a benediction.

Before either of them could act, the door opened and the nurse walked in. She paused as she came to the realization that she had interrupted an intimate moment between the two.

"Excuse me." The nurse said with a blush of embarrassment as she back out of the room just as quickly as she entered it.

Caroline sat up as the door closed, pulling her shirt down over her belly, her eyes looking anywhere other than the handsome man at her side as she silently thanked the nurse for stopping them before anything could happen.

"Caroline." Klaus murmured quietly as he rested his hand against her back supporting her as she sat up.

"Don't. Seriously." Klaus bowed his head slightly as he pulled back and away from her his hands clasping behind his back, keeping him from the urge to reach for her.

There was another knock at the door but this time the nurse waited until Caroline called for her to come in before entering the room. The nurse was still slightly flush with embarrassment as she came forward and handed Caroline a small set of papers and pictures before leaving just as quickly as she came.

Caroline took a moment to take a deep breath and shake herself out of whatever the hell that was that happened between them. Well she knew what it was but she was all about plausible deniability. As long as she still told herself she was not at all attracted or in love with the stupid man she could just keep on trucken.

Clearing her throat she turned to look at Klaus who gazing at her with that familiar look of longing that she was used to seeing on his face.

"Here." She said hanging him a stapled packet of papers and some of the pictures. Klaus took them from her, his fingertips brushing hers causing her eyes to fly to his face before looking away just as quickly not really wanting to have eye sex again.

"Thank you, love." Klaus said as he watched her slide off the table and grab her purse and hoisting it over her shoulder.

"Come on." Caroline said as she opened the door of the exam room and moved out into the hall following the signs for check out with Klaus following behind her like a silent shadow. Once she was checked out and her appointment had been made for her next checkup she allowed Klaus to escort her out to the waiting SUV.

After helping Caroline into the back seat of the Range Rover he followed her in. Sitting back against the seat he leaned forward to tuck the paperwork and photos into the seat pocket in front of him.

"Don't forget to fill that out. Need to make sure the doctor is on the lookout for jerk face disease." Caroline said pointedly as she looked him, her hands resting against her rounded stomach, her comment easing them away from the awkwardness that was between them.

"Ah, love, you wound me." Klaus said with a mock hurt face as his hand rested over his heart. "My heart is going to be in pieces with all of the cruel things that you say to me."

"You deserve it."

Klaus just gave a dramatic sigh and nodded his head. "I do."

Caroline just rolled her eyes, but Klaus caught the smile she was desperately trying to hold back.

"Would you like to join me for lunch, sweetheart?" Klaus asked as his mock wounded look was replaced with an easy smile.

Caroline had to think about it for a moment. Her first instinct was to say no, but they were friends now and friends went out to lunch together.

"Sure."

Klaus gave her a happy grin before speaking once more.

"Not sure why I even asked. You turning down food would be like Beckham refusing to play for England."

"Hey!" Caroline grouched as she smacked her hand against his chest. She wasn't entirely clear on his analogy but everything else he said made it clear what he was implying.

Klaus laughed and scooted away from her in case she decided to smack him again for his teasing.

"Hopefully our daughter will not be as temperamental as you are." Klaus said with a smirk. "I have a hard enough time with you. Adding a mini version would be detrimental to my mental health. Not to mention my chest." Klaus said as he rubbed the spot where she had hit his chest.

Caroline let her head fall to the side as her eye brows went up and gave him the look.

"Seriously?"

Klaus just pursed his lips and rolled his eyes up as he gave a little shake of his head in that playful manner of his.

Before they could continue making quips at one another the SUV came to a stop in front of the restaurant.

"Thai food? Oh my god! How did you know I was craving Thai food?" Caroline said with an excited smile as slid out of the SUV, giving the driver a nod of thanks for opening her door.

"Well it could be all the empty Thai food containers that were all over your kitchen counter." Klaus said with a smirk as cupped her elbow as they walked into the restaurant.

The two of them were seated almost immediately as the restaurant was not that full seeing as it was still early in the day for lunch. Once their orders had been taken and their drinks dropped off a silence descended on the table. Caroline took a deep breath her eyebrows lifting as she looked from the table up to Klaus who was just sitting back and smirking at her.

"What?"

"Just admiring you, love. As I said before you look stunning today."

"Don't start on that again." Caroline said with a roll of her eyes as she put her elbow on the table and rested her chin in the palm of her hand.

"So what would you like to talk about instead?"

Before Caroline could answer they were interrupted by another person.

"Hello mummy. Hello daddy." Kol smirked as he pulled a chair from another table to join them.

Caroline groaned while Klaus just looked irritated.

"I don't believe you were invited Kol." Klaus said tightly.

"Who needs an invite when you're me?" Kol said as he looked between Caroline and Klaus as if they were mad for even thinking of such a thing.

"Is there a reason that you are here? In fact how did you even know we were here?" Caroline asked as she took a sip of her drink. She was kind of glad he was here because it would hopefully keep Klaus from wooing her though all of lunch given how he had started their conversation. On the down side of it was that she would have to have lunch with Kol.

"Those drivers of ours are all gossipers, told me all about where you guys went today and where you were. Just think Sex And The City but with men and in London."

Caroline giggled at the comparison where Klaus just shook his head and took a drink of his water wishing it was scotch. Dealing with his younger brother without liquor was never a good idea.

"And Robert is so Samantha. That is why Nik here never uses him when you are involved. He is afraid of the competition." Kol said leaning back in his chair as he looked around the restaurant to find the waiter.

Caroline smiled as she looked at Klaus. "Is that true?"

"Robert is a good worker and all he needs is for me to break his arm because he tried to flirt with you." Klaus said with shrug. "Then I would have to find another driver. And good help is always hard to find."

Caroline rolled her eyes. "Do you know how pretentious you sound?"

"Well I am king, sweetheart." Klaus said with a smirk.

Caroline gave him a face while Kol gave up on finding a waiter and turned back to the conversation.

"He is king of the streets. Now if you would like a king in bed all you have to do is ask, darling." Kol said as he picked up her hand and wiggled his eyebrows. "Girls recognize royalty when it's in them."

"Gross Kol." Caroline said as she made a sour face and pulling her hand out of his while Klaus put his hand over his eyes, hoping that Kol would magically disappear.

"This table is a little small for lunch, we should probably move to a bigger one." A new voice said as another chair was pulled up to the table and down sat Rebekah.

Klaus dropped his hand from his face and glared at his sister.

"Little sister, what are you doing here?"

"I came to find out if those gossiping monkey suits were telling the truth that you guys found out the sex of the baby." Rebekah said as she flagged down a waiter, muttering under her breath about terrible service.

Before Klaus could say anything the waiter appeared at the table.

"What kind of business are you running here? You should have been at this table with menus the minute I sat down. But no, I had to wave you down like some sort of fish mongering peasant. I am shocked that you are even still in business. With service like this I would never return." Rebekah barked at the waiter who stood shaking in fear.

"I apologize miss." The waiter said timidly as he handed her and Kol menus.

"Don't apologize. Just be a damn better bloody waiter." Rebekah said as she perused the menu. Luckily enough Kol and Rebekah ordered quickly enough and the waiter was out of there like he had the hounds of hell chasing at his heels.

"You do realize he is going to spit in our food, right?" Kol said with a laugh as he leaned back and put his hands behind his head.

"He wouldn't dare." Rebekah said with confidence as she crossed her legs and leaned her elbow on the side arm of the chair.

"Are we going to be expecting Elijah, Finn and Henrick as well?" Caroline asked in resignation, half expecting the rest of the Mikaelson clan to come into the restaurant.

"Elijah is too elegant and Finn is too boring to drop in unannounced and Henrik cares more about video games than finding out if he is going to have a niece of a nephew." Kol said with a look of disgust as he talked about his less fun siblings. Except Henrik of course, he was not included on that list of boring siblings because video games were awesome and so worth ditching family functions for.

"So, what are you having? Girl or a boy?" Rebekah said as she looked between Klaus and Caroline expectantly.

Caroline's eyes met Klaus's as she gave him a look that clearly said this is your family you deal with them.

"Caroline and I are having a girl." As annoyed as Klaus was he couldn't keep the pleased smile off his face at announcing he was going to have a daughter.

"Ah, so it is to be Kollett then. That is a relief – I was wondering how we were going to distinguish between me and Little Kol if it was a boy. Although Little Kol does have a catchy ring to it. Much better than Kol 2.0 or Kol Jr."

"Fantastic! A little niece! I cannot wait to start shopping for her. Burberry has the most adorable little outfits. And JCrew imports from the cutest little shops." Rebekah gushed as she pulled out her phone from her purse and started to surf the web. "She is going to be the best dressed little girl in London."

"Kol, you do realize I made this baby with your brother and not you right?" Caroline asked.

"Unfortunately yes I do, but as I said before I would make a wonderful step-father and try and do what I can so she does not have to be doomed to her genetics." Kol said seriously as he gave a disappointed look at Klaus who just arched an eyebrow at him.

"Genetics you share." Rebekah said absently as she scrolled through her phone.

"Yeah, but I obviously got the better half." Kol said as he gestured to himself.

"That's debatable." Caroline said and then immediately turned pink once she realized what she had said.

Klaus grin that stretched his face was blinding while Kol just looked put out.

Luckily the waiter showed up with their food and saved Caroline for the moment from Klaus. Of course the waiter looked like he was about to dump the entire tray onto the ground because he was shaking so hard afraid of another verbal attack from Rebekah. Luckily he managed to get all the food on the table without incident.

Caroline made a huge deal of digging into her food; avoiding Klaus' gaze at all costs who was staring at her like the cat that had caught the canary.

"So are my genetics better than Kol's then?" Klaus said with a smirk as he gazed at Caroline.

Caroline chewed on her food for a moment and then swallowed before answering.

"I was talking about Rebekah." Caroline quipped with a smirk as she glanced at Rebekah who had a matching smirk of her own. Caroline really had meant Klaus and he probably knew it given how embarrassed she had been, however her cheeky line was a good cover up.

Both men groaned at her answer and focused on eating their food. The rest of the meal was spent with Caroline and Rebekah surprisingly bonding over little girls clothing while Klaus and Kol ate their food despondently as they no longer held the attention of the ladies.

Once lunch was over and Kol and Rebekah had gone their own way that Klaus and Caroline were once again alone. Caroline was making sure to ignore his heated glances during the ride home. Although it left her in an uncomfortable state of want that she blamed completely on her pregnancy hormones. Poor things were always getting the blame.

Once they were back at her building, Klaus of course escorted her inside and even invited himself into her flat saying something about him wanting to talk to her about something. Once they were in the door Caroline slipped off her shoes and put down her purse. Moving into the kitchen she grabbed a glass of water and made her way into the living room and sat down on the couch, Klaus coming to sit in the chair across from her.

"So, what did you want to talk about?"

"Baby names?" Klaus threw out as he linked his fingers loosely together as he rested his elbows on his knees. He just wanted to spend more time alone with Caroline. Kol and Rebekah had invaded their lunch and Klaus wanted to make up for lost alone time.

"Sure." Caroline said as she let out a little breath. She was afraid he was going to want to talk about the heated exchange they had shared and push for a more intimate relationship.

"I was thinking maybe something like Abigail or Hanna. Traditional." Klaus suggested.

Caroline nodded and tipped her head back as she thought about names.

"Maybe something with a K in it. I always thought it was kind of neat that you, Kol, Rebekah and Henrik have K's in your names." Caroline said.

"Don't tell me you are actually considering naming our daughter Kollett." Klaus said with mock concern.

Caroline laughed and shook her head. "But it is such a great name." She teased.

"Love, if we actually named her Kollett Kol would never let us live it down and I am fairly certain he would abduct our daughter to ensure that she ended up a female version of him." Klaus said with a shudder.

Caroline just smiled as she bit her lip in concentration.

"My favorite movie is Coraline. We could always name her Coraline but spell it with a K. S E."

"It is awfully close to Caroline." Klaus said as he considered the idea.

"Well then what about Kora?"

Klaus made a face and shook his head.

"Well if we are looking for C names to spell with a K what about Karis?" Klaus suggested.

"Hmmmm, Karis." Caroline said as she tested the name out loud. "Maybe."

Klaus gave a nod as he looked down at his hands before looking up at Caroline.

"So how are we going to do this whole parenting thing. Does she come over to my place on Tuesdays and Thursdays or what?" Klaus said as his brows drew together in question.

Caroline shrugged her shoulder as she looked down at her belly, not quite sure how she was going to be able to handle being away from her baby.

"I don't know. I'm not sure she can be away from me if I am breast feeding. And I read it is good for babies to at least breast feed for at least the first six months."

"You know, love, we could make this easier. You could come and live with me. I would take care of you and the baby and you wouldn't have to worry about ever being away from her." Klaus said in a rush, having caught the sad look on her face at the thought of being separated from their daughter. Although the underlying reason for the offer was so she would be closer to him, maybe not in his bed but at least under his roof.

Caroline looked up and gave him a frown.

"Nik, that is not going to happen."

Klaus felt his anger rush to the surface at her flat out refusal.

"Why not Caroline? Why can't you let me take care of you? Why won't you give us another shot? I know you feel it! I know you feel what is between us." Klaus said with a growl as he pushed to his feet and started to pace the room.

"Because of what you did to me Nik! You slept with me and you left me. Hell, I don't even know if you are trying to get with me just because I am pregnant." Caroline said as she felt tears start to prick her eyes.

"No! Of course not. I want you because I want to be with you. Just you. Baby or no baby." Klaus said earnestly as he met her gaze.

"Then tell me why you left me. Tell me the truth about why you did it. Why would you be trying this hard if I was just strung along for you to sleep with me? And that you didn't only came back to me because I was pregnant." Caroline pleaded.

Before Klaus could answer there was a knock at the door. Both Caroline and Klaus stared at one another in heated silence until a second round of knocking spurred Klaus into action. He was not sure if he was relieved or upset at the interruption.

Walking to the door he took another look at Caroline before opening the door to find Katherine standing on the other side, her suit case and purse at her side.

"Katherine?" Klaus said with an arch of his brow.

Katherine was of course shocked to see Klaus answer Caroline's door but that was soon replaced with delight as it saved her the hassle of having to find him later.

"Nik!" Katherine said with a big smile as she lifted her arms as if to hug him but instead of a hug she grabbed his shoulders pulling him forward as she kneed him in the balls.

The air flew out of his lungs as her knee connected with his balls, doubling over in pain as his hands covered his crotch as if to provide some sort of relief to the white hot pain that was radiating from the area as he sank to his knees and onto the floor. He was fairly certain he was never going to be able to have children again.

"Oh wait, Caroline said you preferred to be called Klaus. Sorry." Katherine said as she watched him fall to the floor with satisfaction before stepping over him and into the apartment.

"Anyway, Klaus, that is what you get for fucking with my friend. I apologize for not being here to do it sooner." Katherine said with a flip of her hair as she glanced down at Klaus before looking to Caroline and giving her stunned best friend a huge smile.

"Surprise!" Katherine said as she held her arms up in the air.
