'Alright Jack. We're at the park. What do you wanna do?' Tanya asked.

'I've got a few ideas gingy.' He replied, doing a fancy flip in the air and landing on a teeter totter. He turned his back toward her to walk on it.

'Like what?' she said, kneeling down to roll up snow when he turned away.

'Well if you put that snow ball down we can have some nice, clean fun.' He pouted, sprouting up behind her.

'Dude!' she yelped, jumping up and dropping the snow ball. She glared at him and he laughed.

'Relax. I'm just suggesting that we build a snowman. You don't really have the gear for a full scale battle.'

'Excuse me for not owning snow pants.' She muttered, putting her bag on a bench. He merely smirked and started on the bottom. She worked on the middle.

'If you make the bottom any bigger this isn't going to work.' She teased.

'But we're gonna build a record breaking snowman! It will make all other seem inferior and none shall ever measure up to it!' he declared, full of bravado.

'Are you sure you're the winter sprite? You seem like you're just full of hot air.'

'Ouch.' He finally stopped. It was an absolutely huge bottom.

'So you like big butts?' Tanya asked. Jack grinned and lightly shoved her.

'Does your middle measure up to this magnificence?' Jack asked, looking at the middle next to her.

'I think it does.' She said, trying to lift it up and almost falling down. Jack caught her before she hit the ground and helped her put the large snow ball on top on the gargantuan one Jack made.

'I'll find parts for him and you build the head.' He said.

'Bossy much?' she teased, shoving him a little. He laughed and left to go find sticks and such while Tanya built the head. She didn't notice the yellow eyes hiding in the forest. Jack did though when he returned from getting the parts. He looked grimly towards the trees.

'Is something wrong?' she asked him, noticing the strange look and looking toward the forest.

'We should go. Now.' He said, grabbing her bag and thrusting it toward her.

'What? But I thought we were going to build this utterly amazing snowman to trump all others.' She said, fumbling with her bag.

'I have somewhere I need to go. I'm sorry. I'll walk you home.' He said. She pouted and nodded. They walked home in silence. Tanya wanted to ask what was wrong but he looked so worried that she didn't want to make it worse. Finally, they arrived at a larger, blue, two story house.

'I'm sorry. I'll come by as soon as I can.' He said.

'Are you sure there's nothing I can do? Can I help? What's wrong?' she asked in a rapid fire way, becoming very worried.

'It's probably nothing but I just need to be sure.' He said, flying up into the air and waving bye as he drifted away. She looked after him for a few seconds then quickly went into her house. His actions made her nervous and she went through the house, making sure all the doors and windows were locked. Then she laid on the beige couch in the living room. Surely she hadn't seen what she thought she'd seen. It was a trick of the light, her own paranoia, anything but… She sighed and checked her phone. It was 2:15 and her mom sent a text saying she'd be home at 8:00. She grinned to herself. Before she could stop herself, she put the Wicked cd in the CD player in the living room and skipped to Popular. She sang along, dancing like a dork, barely noticing anything around her. As she sang, she did the dishes, sometimes singing well and other times purposely singing in the most horrid way possible, making her laugh at herself. After the dishes were done, she slid into the living room and turned off the CD player, scolding herself for not doing her homework. So begrudgingly, she grabbed her bag and went upstairs. She entered her room.

Her room had pastel pink walls, like when she was a little girl. Her bed was a veritable mess of clothes, books, and her baby blue duvet. On her dresser sat a wind up merry go round and an antique music box. Next to the dresser was a fish tank, with colourful fish swimming energetically around the tank. She moved to her desk which sat next to her window and pulled out her history book.

'Just finish the chapter Tanya and then you can take a break.' She said to herself. Opening the book, she resumed the chapter and concentrated, committed to finishing what she started. An hour later, she finally finished the chapter.

'Finally!' she yelled in delight, leaning back in her chair. She grinned and ran downstairs, ready for a movie marathon until she saw two yellow eyes under the stairs.
