Chapter 13: Caroline's Final Plan

Over the next few days Caroline was always thinking about Nick and his new lady friend. She couldn't understand how Nick went from being her back up plan to being in love. She was unable to come to terms with the fact that they were over and she once and for all wanted to end this other relationship he had and keep the prize for herself.

Her new plan was by far the meanest and she thought a shore fire way of getting her man. Today was the day that she was going to make it happen. Sitting in the back of the bar for nearly 2 hours watching Nick and Jess play cutesy was disgusting to her but it was what she had to do. Waiting for Jess to go to the bathroom long enough to make her move was impossible.

But finally what she assumed was her friend walked in and Jess left Nick alone to talk to her the other side of the bar. Now was her chance to finish this off. She stalked her way up to the bar tapped on Nicks turned shoulder and once he spun around before he could react she grabbed his shirt and pulled him in for a kiss; making sure to knock a glass over too get Jess to turn around and witness to her boyfriend's cheating.

Jess ran out the door; not being able to cope with what she just witnessed. Heart shattering she fell to the floor outside the bar, no longer being able to breathe, walk or move. Life was going so great, every issue that was floating around her head from left after their chat in the diner. But now all new problems came; pain she never experienced was being pushed onto her heart. The next few minutes flew past her not even being able to figure out her name; why does this keep happening to her? First Spencer now the one person she believed she could grow old with. Getting up she made her way to her car, no longer being able to be in the same place as him; she needed an immediate escape.

Meanwhile in the bar;

"What the HELL?" Nick yelled being able to push Caroline off his face; Caroline looked round and found that Jess had left the building and smiling on the inside that her plan had worked.

"What I don't see what the issue is here? I needed you to see that there is still something between us, we can be the end game Nick."

"NO! Caroline we can never be the end game. Not only do I not love you anymore because first you emotionally crushed me and it took me years to get over that; to feel good about myself. But you have just ruined the best thing that has ever happened to me in my sorry excuse for a life. Jess completed me in ways that I can't even explain; and being away from her actually hurts. But you have the nerve to come in here and ruin that after I told you that I couldn't be with you. Did you really believe this plan or whatever you call it would work? Did you really think that after you destroy my girlfriend and me that I would fall back into your arms? Look I was kind the first time but now you can have it clear; I don't care how mean this sounds. I DO NOT WANT TO BE WITH YOU!"

"Bob can you look after the bar I need to leave." Bob nodded in his direction feeling sympathy for him after seeing what transpired. Nick threw his cloth on the bar a stormed out of the establishment. He couldn't see her car anywhere, he felt a tap on his shoulder; turning around he noticed CeCe. "Nick what just happened?"

Rubbing his hand over his face, "I don't know it was all Caroline I don't know what got into her. She just kissed me and then thought I would get back together with her. I don't care about her, I closed that door years ago. But where is Jess?"

"She left. I couldn't catch her. I was waiting for you to come out and see what happened."

"Do you believe me? That it wasn't my fault?"

"Of course Nick, you have been the best thing that happened to Jess for years and it would be hard to believe that you would throw that all away. But I'm not Jess or in this relationship and I can see where she is coming from. The sooner you talk to her the better; just know I will fight your corner."

CeCe smiled at Nick with a sympathetic look; Nick smiled and ran off to his car.

20 minutes later.

"Jess Jess? Open the door! Please! Let me explain it is all a miss understanding! Jess!"

Nick was banging on the door of her apartment, this had been going on for 5 minutes. Jess was leaning up against the other side of the wall listening to the insistent bangs on the door, every time she heard a bang she would flinch. Being stuck in two minds whether to open the door and hear him out or let him suffer, like she has.

"Jess; look I don't want to do this in front of your door but if you won't open it I guess I have no choice. I didn't kiss her she kissed me I was in shock and I was pulling away when you looked around. I promise you that I didn't want to or kiss her. She means absolutely nothing to me; our relationship is in the past and I would never go back. You are by far the best thing that has happened to me in my sorry excuse for a life. All I want for the rest of my life is to be with you and no one else. I love you Jess and even if you chose to not believe me just remember I will never stop loving you."

No reply came; Nick looked down at the floor "Well that's all I have to say. Bye Jess. I love you." With that Nick walked away, shoulders slumped and a black cloud submerged his life.

Back in Jess' apartment she was lent against the door letting the tears flow; she really did want to forgive Nick and have a happy life with him but after Spencer trusting him now was harder than it ever had to be.
