Chapter 15: And what a year it's been!

Jess was sat in her last class of the day and she was on the edge of her seat for it to end, being Friday she had the whole weekend to herself. Of course she loved her job and never wanted to change it but, it was the weekend and she got to spend it with Nick. It had nearly been a year since he officially asked her to be his girlfriend and she was so excited to have found someone she loved this much. Their relationship had its ups and it had its downs, but every time something went wrong it always became right again. It had truly been the best year of her whole life. After Spencer, Jess never thought she would find someone again but alas there he was the whole time behind a bar waiting.

RING RING

"Ok guys, pack up." The class quickly packed up, "See you on Monday, have a nice weekend."

As they hustled out of the class, Matt hung back.

"You alright Matt?"

"Nick wanted me to give you this." Matt smiled left the folded up note and a rose on her desk and walked out the class without waiting for a goodbye. Jess looked after him thinking of it odd, but proceeded to look at the note awaiting her.

Meet me at the diner at 7 sharp.

Jess was confused they hadn't planned anything tonight, they were doing something tomorrow because he had to work at the bar. Wonder filling her brain, the night became all that more appealing.

When Jess got home she was greeted by CeCe holding a dress bag, a note and a rose. "Nick wanted me to give you this." She handed her the dress, smiled and walked out the room.

"What is it with people walking away today?"

Jess went to her room with the dress laid it down and picked up the attached note.

This was the dress you were wearing our first date but not date,

It brings out the sparkle in your eyes,

I love it on you

Please wear it tonight.

Confused at what was going on, she went out to see if CeCe could shed some light but it would seem she wasn't around. But she went along with it curiosity being a strong part to play.

At 6:40 she was all ready to go, she was wearing the dress he requested and the necklace that Nick gave her for their 6 month anniversary. She was making some final touches to her make-up when she heard a knock at the door, wondering who would be here so late she went to look.

"Schmidt?"

"Nick wanted me to give you this." He handed her a rose and another note, smiled and walked away.

Every princess deserves a ride to the 'ball',

Jess picked up her bag and left the apartment still with the rose and note. When she left the building she saw a new car waiting with Winston standing outside in a suit, holding yet another note and rose. When he saw her he opened the back door, "Nick wanted me to give you this." He handed her the note, smiled closed the door when she got in and went to the driver's seat.

Nearly There

One Year Today

I asked you to dinner

For some unknown reason to me you said yes

After a small ride, they were at the diner. She looked out her window to see that all the lights were off. But she didn't have enough time to be confused because the door was being opened by Coach holding another rose and note.

"Nick wanted me to give you this."

Well it would seem you have arrived

Don't be worried

I will see you soon

Jess looked up at Coach with a confused look but he just smiled and walked to the door of the diner and opened it. Jess followed, and was greeted but candles and roses everywhere. The tables that were normally in the middle of the restaurant were pushed to the side and there was a path of candles filled with rose petals to the centre where it spread out to be a circle where Nick was stood in a suit holding another rose.

She walked up to him with a look of awe on her face, "Nick what is all this?"

"Jessica," He retrieved the roses out of her hand placed them on the table next to them, where 2 glasses of champagne took their residence. He took her hands in his; "Never have I met someone as wonderful, amazing and beautiful as you. You have changed my life beyond my imagination. Since I was young I always had a bad look on love, my parents had a complicated relationship and I was always left to fend for myself with no one to love me. So I was never able to commit, I blamed my bad childhood because of this. But when I met you I knew it wasn't because of my past but because I hadn't met the right girl."

Tears were now glazing Jess' eyes, "Since the moment I laid eyes on you I knew you were the one that I would always love, for the rest of my life I will strive to make you as happy as I am every time you are with me. My life will never or can never be the same again, you have changed me and I never want to be without you." Nick got down on one knee; pulled out a ring box and said,

"So Jessica Day, will you marry me."

With tears in her eyes she replied "Yes…Yes of course I will marry you." Nick slipped the ring on her finger, stood back up and embraced Jess, and spun her around. She placed her down and kissed her. Never had the couple been so happy. Life for them will forever be happy.

That was probably my favourite chapter to write. This is the official end but I am planning on doing an epilogue, but if people want me to do a chapter of Nick planning the proposal please say in a review or PM me.
