Here's a short chapter, it's been a long week and I needed something to update for you. It's not my best work and I'm really sorry about that. I did however love all the reviews I got last week, I think you guys must have set some kind of record for good reviews. So I hope you enjoy this chapter I'd love to hear what you think, and as always I own nothing.
Three days I had been engaged for three days and hadn't told anyone, but today was the day. Annie was being dropped off in a couple hours and then we would be leaving with the team shortly after that to go to Patrick's cabin on Lake Tahoe. It had been years since I had skied or been on a real vacation for that matter. Growing up in Chicago I had skied before we were just hours away from some nice resorts in Wisconsin and Michigan, however I hadn't skied at all since moving to California. I knew already I would be making a fool of myself, but at least I wasn't going to be alone. Luckily I wasn't the only one on the team who hadn't skied in a while.
"Wake up your highness, the shower is all yours." He pecked my lips and disappeared into the closet before I had a chance to move. How did he run in this weather it's freezing out? "Teresa at this rate you'll still be in bed when Annie gets here."
"I'm getting up."
"Liar."
"You don't know that."
"Your voice is muffled by the pillows love if your going to lie to me at least try to make it convincing." He tossed his jacket on the end of the bed and sat next to me in bed buttoning his shirt.
"Would it make a difference?"
"No."
"Then why try?"
"At the very least it amuses me."
"As long as it amuses you."
"That's the spirit, now if you insist on taking a shower please do so, because I'll have breakfast ready shortly."
"Patrick you never did tell me how big this cabin of yours is. I mean we'll all have room won't we?"
"I think we'll be okay."
Half hour later I was dressed and at the breakfast table with four kids still in their pajama's and chowing down on a batch of pancakes for once they were plain, normal pancakes, with nothing special added in. Apparently we were rushed to pack the car and didn't have time for that. I still don't understand that, we have a couple hours before we have to actually leave, and it's not like it's to terribly far, but Patrick was in a hurry. He had all of our bags loaded into the back of my car immediately after breakfast. And when I asked him what the rush was, he just smiled and said 'No rush just want to get there before dark.' Did I dare remind him it was a two-hour drive and it was only nine-thirty in the morning?
Annie was dropped off at ten and Tommy hardly got out of the car, before I had time to speak, Annie answered the question. "He's in a hurry to meet his girlfriend, but you didn't here it from me because I'm not supposed to know he dates."
"What else am I not going to here from you?"
"Her name is Elise, she works at a bank or something boring, she's pretty and smart. Dad's embarrassed because she makes more money than him. They go out together at least twice a week. And of course I'm asleep when he sneaks back in at two am."
"Serious huh?"
"Hard to tell, I always thought if it were real serious he'd tell me."
"Give him time, come on help me put your bags in the car."
"Wait a minute! Aunt Reese put down my bag let me see your hand!" I did as I was told and she immediately started shrieking, "When! Tell me Everything! Oh My God I'm so going to be your maid of honor right! Oh My God when?!"
"Christmas morning, I started unwrapping it got distracted by the kids, he snuck it out of my hands so when I went to look for the box he was holding it open next to me." I couldn't help blushing, Oh Christ Van Pelt is going to do the same thing, this is going to be a long two hours.
"Oh My God that's so perfect! It's beautiful! I mean of course it is Patrick's got a great eye, and apparently a lot of money."
"Hush."
"What? I'm just saying it looks pricey, I'm expecting way better birthday presents in the future."
"We might be able to handle that." Patrick was leaning against the door frame with that stupid obnoxious smirk on his face.
"Congratulations! Your getting married!" She let go of my hands and jumped into Patrick's arms. "For the record I so called this like five years ago or whatever when we visited you guys at work."
"Glad to here it, and would you please give me my wallet back?"
"It was worth a shot."
"No you've gotten really good, I'm impressed, one of my best students."
"Well no more of that stuff." I warned.
"Yes ma'am."
"My aunt has you so whipped."
"I beg your pardon?" Patrick smirked, while I couldn't help but laugh. I could never see Patrick being whipped. He does what he wants when he wants, well unless he knows I'm against it, maybe he is whipped. No it's always been that way practically from the beginning, I like to think it's out of respect.
"Come on 'Yes ma'am' really."
Unfortunately we never got to hear Patrick's reply because another car pulled into our driveway, revealing our co-workers and a very excited Ben.
"Alright everybody's here both cars are packed, we just have five kids to round up." Patrick smiled throwing the last of Annie's bags in the trunk.
"Kids come on time to go, make sure you use the bathroom first it's a long drive." It was a real process ushering the kids down the stairs and making sure each one used the bathroom.
"Girls in one care guys in another." Annie grinned taking Cass from my arms. "What? William wants to ride with Ben and there is no way you're getting all of those car seats into one car. Unless of course Aunt Reese can't spend two hours away from Patrick."
"Oh I'm sure your aunt will be fine, I might not be." Patrick came up behind me with his hands around my waist. "But if she's okay with boy/girl I'll have no choice but to say yes you know me being whipped and everything."
"This is going to be a very long week."
"How so love?" He turned me around and kissed me, it was hardly anything but it still evoked a cough from certain co-workers. "I apologize if my showing affection for the women I love bothers you Rigsby, I'll remember to show you the same courtesy if you ever lapse into kissing your girlfriend on this trip."
"Sorry man, it's just weird, I mean she's our boss."
"Your boss, I have no superiors."
"Patrick!"
"Yes dear."
"Okay won't happen again, if you don't you know cough if you know…"
"If I find you and Grace making out. I suppose I can try not to, but you know I have terrible winter time allergies."
"Come on man I said I was sorry."
"Just leave it Rigsby." Cho cut in, "You know he does this on purpose, and you always respond." I really couldn't help but grin at the smirk on Patrick's face, his pride in causing a commotion; this really would be a long week.
Patrick waited until all the kids were buckled in and our co-workers were safely in the car, before kissing me again. "I'll see you soon."
