Okay so I was able to put this together a little faster than I thought I would but that's not a bad thing. Unless you're looking at grammatical errors then yea there are probably a lot. So again this is pretty short compared to what I used to write so I'm sorry I hope you enjoy it.
So I'm going to throw some idea's out here because I have a lot for the story and I don't necessarily have the time to write it all. I'm going to give you a couple of the idea's I had in mind and you tell me which ones you want to see me put in writing. First obviously a Jane/Lisbon wedding, I'm also looking at a Jane/Lisbon pregnancy, obviously William's birthday is coming up honestly I don't have to much planned for that yet, and one more thing I'm looking at is maybe the kids heading back to Chicago over Easter break and Jane and Lisbon getting some alone time. Tell me what you want to see, if you want to see all of the above let me know it will take more time but it can be done. I did take a two year break so I do owe you something.
Lastly I'm going to promote another story I just posted its a Mentalist crossover with a little bit older show Quantum Leap, that story takes place a year or so before Red John gets finished up not that Red John really plays a part in the story. I was just trying to give you a time frame to look at. So if you're interested check that out.
And of course to finish it off I own nothing and I love reviews.
After the day off we were all able to get up relatively early this morning. Breakfast was downed in a hurry and we were off. The younger three were dropped off at daycare where they would be playing in the snow all day and the rest of us headed for the ski slopes. The morning was spent as a group but after lunch Patrick put his plan into action. His proposed alone time involved Cho and Annie skiing with the twins for a couple of hours while Rigsby and Van Pelt were free to pursue their own afternoon activities. Patrick and I headed to the far side of the mountain for some alone time.
"Ready for some private lessons?" He smirked before leading me down the hill.
"I don't know, you might not have much you could teach me at this point." I teased.
"Well isn't someone a little cocky." He smiled before adding, "But it's true you're an old pro at this point."
"No you can't say that you're going to jinx me."
"Nonsense." He called back from a little further down the mountain. He teased me and encouraged me down harder and harder slopes until I dragged him into the lodge to warm up, we went straight to the fire and ordered two hot chocolates. We weren't expecting any interruptions for a little while, out of habit I looked down at my phone. Three missed calls, two from Annie one from Cho.
"Patrick!" I tried very hard not to sound hysterical, he pulled his phone out and had the same thing three missed calls two from Cho and one from Annie.
"Alright calm down." Patrick took my phone from me and started dialing. "You take a breath and I'll call Cho."
"Put it on speaker please." I really wanted to pace but ski boots weren't made for that.
"Boss?" answered.
"What happened?" Patrick didn't give me a chance to say anything.
"Emily fell, they think it's a broken arm but they have to wait for the x-ray. They won't transfer her to the hospital without her guardians here." I was grateful for Cho's ability to report facts in any situation, he knew what was important and got it across fast. That's probably why Patrick called him instead of Annie.
"Where are you?" I was already peeling off my boots and snow pants.
"The first aid station is down in the basement of the lodge, we came in from the outdoor entrance but I think if you take the stairs down there are signs pointing you in the right direction." He instructed.
"We're on our way." Patrick hung up the phone. "You go ahead don't wait for me to get this off, call me with any updates I'll be there in five minutes." He tossed me my phone and sat down to unfasten his boots. I took off for the staircase. There was a grand staircase leading up to the bar, and a smaller set of stairs heading down toward the ground floor where we had rented our skis and poles the first day. I was reading the signs and racing toward where I hoped the medical station was.
I can't believe one of the girls had gotten hurt and I hadn't been there. Not only was I not there I didn't even pick up the phone when they called to tell me. I had just failed as a parent.
"Aunt Teresa it's all my fault I talked them into going down a harder hill. I shouldn't have done it. I'm so sorry." Annie was waiting outside the office for me.
"It's okay, where is she?" I kind of brushed past her, "It's not your fault, I'm sure it was an accident."
"Teresa!" Emily smiled from where she was sitting on a table. Her arm was all wrapped up but she and her sister were sitting there with suckers in their mouths.
"Are you okay sweetie?"
"My arm hurts." She frowned, "but I got a sucker, actually this is my second sucker the doctor is really nice."
"It sounds like it, do you want to tell me what happened?"
"Well we were on a blue hill, can you believe that Teresa we made it down a medium hill, well we almost made it down. My ski hit a bump in the snow and I couldn't stop my self. I fell down and then I rolled into the side of a tree. Actually the rolling part was kind of fun, it was the stopping and hitting the tree part that hurt." Emily explained, I couldn't believe how happy she was despite having her left arm completely wrapped in bandages.
"Are you the girls mother?" A doctor came in followed by Cho and Annie remained standing in the doorway.
"Yes I'm their guardian. Is she going to be okay?"
"She's going to be just fine." The doctor smiled, "The arm is broken and I want to have her taken to a proper hospital to have it put in a cast. As long as her arm remains wrapped you can drive her there yourself no need for an ambulance or anything. I already sent her x-ray and information to the local hospital. A little bit of time in a cast and she'll be good as new."
'Thank you Doctor, sorry it took me so long getting here. I didn't hear my phone ringing while I was on the slopes."
"No need to apologize. You've got two great girls there ma'am. Very resilient behaved very well while we waited."
"Thank you again." I nodded, "Come on you two lets find Patrick so we can get that arm taken care of." I shuffled them out of the room. As luck would have it Patrick was just approaching the office as we were leaving.
"Now look at you little lady what on earth happened?" He smiled and knelt down to Emily's level where she told him the same story she had just told me.
"We're going to take her to the hospital to put a real cast on that." I explained.
"Boss, you four go ahead. I'll tell Van Pelt and Rigsby when they finish up we can take the little kids and meet you back at the house." Cho offered.
"That would be great Kimball, thank you so much for watching them."
"Not a problem boss." He nodded, and Patrick tossed him the house key.
"I'm coming with you." Annie chipped in, "It's my fault I want to be there to take care of her."
"Annie it's not your fault." I tried.
"Yes it is and I'm coming."
"Of course you can come but it's not your fault you didn't know she was going to fall." I attempted again and before she could say anymore, "And I don't want to hear another word about it okay." Annie nodded and Patrick and I led her and the twins out to our car for our visit to the hospital.
