Whoo! Thank you for all the positive feedback! Okay new chapter. So, I'm not entirely sure if this would come up for those who follow the story on your alerts, but, if you haven't seen it already, I'm rewriting the chapters starting from the beginning. Feel free to look over them if you're waiting for updates. Not a ton has been changed, just minor things. The only real thing that you will see here different is that Isabella's eyes are purple and not blue. Honestly, it's too much of a hassle to have them change from purple to blue all that time, so yeah.

If you have any concerns feel free to tell; now on to the chapter.

Enjoy~

Ch. 16

Isabella Lelouch 17

Isabella stretched her arms up letting out a soft groan as the class shuffled around the room preparing for the next class. She looked over at Lelouch—who was sitting next to her who was looking out the window.

"Hey, Isa!" Shirley greeted walking over to her desk with a cheery smile. Isabella smiled back up at her friend. "It's good to have you back."

Isabella looked over at Lelouch and back to Shirley, "Good to be back."

"You betcha," Rivalz cut in behind the red head; "You and Suzaku left us with a load of paper work."

With a wince imagining the mounds of paperwork, Isa replied, "Sorry."

"Well it seems that return celebration will have to be held off," Lelouch head leaning his head on his palm, "Where's Suzaku?"

"Oh," Isabella looked down frowning, "Um, he's alright. He's recovering."

"Recovering?!" Shirley exclaimed.

"No, no," Isa said quickly, "He's perfectly fine. He was just ordered rest days."

"What happened to him?" Rivalz asked cringing.

"Does it have to do with what happened in Shinjuku?" Shirley joined.

"What? No!" Isabella started, "It's not that big of a deal; Suzaku just got hurt during squad training. It happens all the time."

"So, then why were you gone?" Lelouch asked and received a swift shoe to the shin. The prince winced, hands twitching to rub at his offended leg.

"If you needed to know I would tell you. Right now, it's classified," Isabella said poking Lelouch in the ribs.

Shirley smiled, "I get it, military stuff."

Yuuto 26

"Man! I'm hungry!" Kichiru groaned rubbing his stomach as the squad entered their division. He had several voices agreeing with him as they all made their way to the showers.

"We should go get something to eat!"

"Pizza Hut!"

"Yeah!"

Yuuto stood behind everyone looking around the empty training room. He raised an eyebrow making his way into the barracks. He hmph'd to himself walking around the division. The second in command made his way into the kitchen, spotting a certain 4'4" boy trying desperately to grab a bag of animal crackers on the top shelf of a cabinet.

"Hey, R.R.," Yuuto said grabbing the bag.

R.R. narrowed his eyes at the man who was well over a foot and a half taller than him. He looked up at the bag being held high and grumbled, "What do you want?"

"Where's Suzaku?" Yuuto questioned keeping the bag of cookies away from the immortal.

"How would I know?" R.R. snapped, "I thought he went with you."

"You haven't seen him?" Yuuto asked concerned. He knew that Richard emerges from Leabella's office just after the division gets quiet. "He had to be gone for hours know…" Yuuto looked over at the clock. The squad let for training a quarter to nine in the morning. It was nearly noon now.

"Dammit," Yuuto dropped the bag of treats, leaving the boy in the kitchen to yell out towards the barracks, "Masanori!"

Isabella

"I talked to Kaname earlier this morning," Kallen said biting into her lunch.

Isabella chewed her food slowly, looking at the red head through the corner of her eye. She swallowed slowly, "And?"

Kallen sighed, "I didn't tell him about your brother or the whole adviser thing."

"Good," Isa nodded looking over across the courtyard. In one set of stools were the girls who would usually surround Kallen to Isa's amusement and in a set of benches was the student council. Neither group noticed the girls, except for Lelouch, of course.

Isabella caught the prince's eyes and he not so subtly turned away to talk to Rivalz. The blond narrowed her eyes turning to Kallen, "Did you say anything to my brother? He's being weird."

"Like what?"

"Anything," she replied flatly.

Kallen sighed leaning back on the bench, "From the beginning: He walked up to me, like a creep. And then he was about to walk away but I was worried something had happened to you since you hadn't called me yet, so I asked him about you." Kallen forwarded her brows, "He said you were Princess what's-her-face's adviser, and then, he started spouting off things about Shinjuku [btw: I know I spelled it wrong last chap]"

"What kinds of things?" Isabella pushed forwarding her brows.

Kallen bit her cheek then started, "He was about to walk away, then he was all, 'Don't say anything about Shinjuku.'" Isabella laughed at Kallen's impersonation of her brother though the amusement was short lived. She began to wonder why in the world Lelouch would say that.

"So," Kallen caught Isa's attention, "how did you two end up like this." The blond raised an eyebrow in confusion. Kallen looked over at Lelouch, "You know. You're in the military, the adviser for a freaking princess, and you're commander to a resistance group. Your brother…" Kallen grimaced, "…not so much."

Isabella sighed, 'You don't even know the half of it.' "

Yuuto

"Okay got into the camera's in the training room," Masanori said over Leabella's computer monitor stopping Yuuto's pacing about Leabella's office. "Tracking it back to 8:40." Yuuto settled behind Masanori as he pushed play.

On the screen they saw the last bit of the squad leaving the division through the front door as Suzaku waved bye to them. He walked around the room for a moment. The two men waited as the teen walked off screen and returned within ten minutes. Soon they saw Suzaku walking towards the front door.

"Where would he be going?" Masanori asked to no one as the two continued watched.

Yuuto tensed as he and Masanori watched Suzaku be apprehended by a couple people they couldn't see and was taken out of view.

"You need to hack the main building's cameras," Yuuto said gravely.

Isabella

She really didn't want to. Honestly, she could just ask flat out, but something was pulling her back.

Isabella sighed looking up from her sketchbook. Next to her was Lelouch in his usual the-teacher-won't-notice-me-sleeping pose. Seriously, how did the boy achieve that in a stool? His sketchbook was blank except for the small dotted dent where the tip of his pencil was digging into the paper.

She looked about the room. Not many people were taking this art class, so the room wasn't so crowded—just like Lelouch liked it. The teacher was at her desk updating grades on her computer. Isabella turned back to Lelouch.

It was near the end of the school day, so the sun that shined in through the window was casting deep shadows on the boy's posture. Isabella reached out to the prince softly placing her hand on his cheek. His skin was as smooth as she had remembered though his jaw and cheek bones were more dominant than seven years ago.

Lelouch didn't stir until he felt a sudden sting ignite on the side of his face. The prince jumped dropping his pencil, and his eyes shot out wide. Isa giggle withdrawing her hand from his pinched cheek.

Lelouch grumbled rubbing at the side of his face, "You are being particularly violent today."

Isa sighed laying her sketchbook on the table they shared. Lelouch frowned picking up his pencil, "So, why'd you wake me?"

"I need to ask you about something," the blond said quietly. Lelouch looked at her noting her low tone. He nodded, "What did you talk about with Kallen?"

Lelouch's eyebrows raised in surprise, "Nothing really, I noticed that you two are always together, so I got curious."

Isabella frowned, "I know you're lying."

Lelouch looked away from her, preferring the wide window, "She didn't know that your Leabella's adviser. Which I thought, as her friend, you would have told her. Why didn't you tell her?"

"That's my business," Isa commented, "Now, what did you tell her about Shinjuku. You should know that it's classified information."

"I didn't tell her anything," Lelouch said simply, "I was just making small talk. She got out of hand with it." Lelouch finally looked at her, his eyes hard, "Do you know why she would react like that with the mention of Shinjuku?"

Isabella frowned at him, "No." 'He saw her there.'

Yuuto

"Did you find it?" Yuuto asked apprehensively.

Masanori hummed for a moment before saying, "Got it." He was able to find the camera in the hall that was directly outside of the division. "It's a good thing that we moved out of the old base," Masanori said, going through the camera's log to see what happened that morning, "The camera's there are inactive."

Yuuto grunted in agreement watching as the video feed started to play. Not a moment later, they saw Kewell with the two soldiers. "That's Gottwald's man," Yuuto said coldly.

Masanori looked over his sholder to Yuuto as the video showed Kewell kidnapping Suzaku. Yuuto looked at Masanori and nodded. They were out of the office already heading towards the entrance door within seconds.

"Where is he, Gottwald," Yuuto questioned said man sitting before him.

Jeremiah clicked his tongue pointing his nose up, "I don't need to answer to you." He watched as Masanori and Yuuto stared him down.

Yuuto growled, "I am the head of the Royal Guard. My orders are to be seen as orders by her highness's."

Jeremiah smirked, "My business is nothing of yours, for I am merely following the Princess's orders."

Yuuto looked at the man in shock, "What?!"

Jeremiah looked at a paper weight on his desk with benign interest, "Her Highness gave me orders to find the murderer of His Highness Prince Clovis," the Knight looked up at Yuuto, "And I have found the culprit."

Isabella gritted her teeth and clenched her phone at her ear tightly.

"We're coming for you now." Yuuto's voice said on the other end of the call as he hung up. Isabella looked around her surroundings. She was stranding at the connection of the two stairs in the stair way. She had stepped out near the end of art class. The passing bell would sound any minute.

Isabella took in a sharp breath before sending her clenched fist—still holding her phone—to the wall. "That dirty rat!" she yelled. She stuffed her phone in her pocket running her hands through her wig in frustration as she paced along the stair well.

The bell rang, but she didn't notice as students avoided the area upon seeing the distraught girl. Lelouch finally found her after sometime. With him, her bag in one hand. "Hey," he said knocking her on the forehead before she ran into him.

Isabella frowned up at him in frustration.

"What was the call about?" Lelouch asked as she took her offered bag. "You stepped out of class rather quickly."

"Emergency," Isabella said offhandedly, "I need to go."

"Is there something wrong with Lea?" Lelouch asked quickly.

"No," Isabella replied making her way down the stairs, waving at him.

Lelouch Kallen

Lelouch looked from Kallen then to the student council president, "Um, what is all of this?"

Milly looked over her shoulder at the prince, "Lelouch, don't you know? I thought that's why you brought her. We're inducting Kallen into the student council."

"Huh?" Kallen blinked surprised.

"It was Isabella's idea, and my grandfather thought it would be an excellent idea," Milly said lightly.

"Isabella spoke to the Principle about it?" Lelouch questioned.

"The Principle?" Kallen looked puzzled.

"She thought it best with your poor health you would have a difficult time with regular club activities, and Grandfather agreed," Milly turned around the face to two teens, "She's such a good friend, thinking about you like that."

Kallen looked done to her feet to hide her surprised expression, "Y-yeah." Lelouch looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh, I'm Milly, the president of the council," Milly Ashford greeted Kallen, "It's a pleasure to finally meet Isabella's friend. It's like she's been hiding you or something."

"Oh," Kallen started, "Thank you, the pleasure's all mine."

The rest of the student council collected themselves about the half Britannian.

"I'm Rivalz, the secretary," said boy introduced himself first, "If there's anything you need, I'm your man."

"Hi, I'm Shirley," the red head said brightly, "And, I'm a member of the swim club.(Anybody else find this line horrendously out of place?) Welcome!"

The small girl with glasses started shyly, "Um, hi there, I'm Nina."

"It's nice to meet all of you," Kallen replied calmly. She looked around the room forwarding her brows.

She was about to ask where Isabella was, when a voice interrupted her. "Shirley?" a soft voice caught all their attention, "I'm sorry but…" Nunnally stopped her wheelchair by the group, "Do you think you can set these on the table for me?"

Shirley perked up, "Oh, sure thing, Nuna!"

Lelouch raised an eyebrow, "Nunnally, what are you doing here?" Kallen watched him curiously while observing the small girl in the wheelchair.

Milly cut in, "This is Lelouch and Isabella's sister."

"I'm still in the middle school group, so I can't be on the council yet," Nunnally said.

"That's all right," Rivalz said, "You're an honorary member in our book."

"Hello there," Nunnally smiled sweetly, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Kallen."

Kallen smiled at the princess, "Right, it's a pleasure to meet you as well."

"By the way," Kallen said observing the occupants of the room, "Where is Isabella? I didn't see her in class after lunch."

"Sissy's not here?" Nunnally asked turned to Lelouch while forwarding her brows.

"Oh," Lelouch blinked frowning, "Something came up."

"Something with the Princess?" Rivalz asked raising a playful eyebrow as Nunnally frowned.

"I don't know; she wouldn't tell me," Lelouch said, "though from what I could tell it's something important."

Leabella 17

"Your Highness!" Clovis's ex secretary-soon to be Leabella's-piped as Leabella made her way, full in her military uniform and the outlandish cape her tailor insisted she wear for formal occasions, through the government bureau, "There is much to discuss!" The woman followed after Leabella, as the princess navigated her way through the halls.

"Like what, Ms. Stonewell?" Leabella questioned running her fingers through her loose wavy hair as she pulled it to one side.

"Well," she started looking through the paper work in her hands, "There is the press conference where you will discuss Prince Clovis's death in a moment. And there is also the recent news report..."

Leabella stopped walking suddenly getting Yuuto to stop instantly behind her along with Masanori. However the rest of her guard was not as prepared, and haphazardly bumped into each other. Leabella looked at the woman, "What news report?"

Ms. Stonewell looked down from the solid stare the Princess was giving her, "Um, the one about Princess Clovis attempting to assassinate you, Your Highness."

"Who was the media's source?" Leabella said quickly.

"U-um," the secretary jumped, "We're still trying to find out. The news reporter said the source wanted to stay anonymous, so we're having difficulties getting them to disclose them, Princess."

"What about the reporter?" Leabella asked continuing to walk down the hall with the squad close behind her.

"We have questioned him and gotten his contact information in case you would like to question him, You Highness," the woman replied.

"Good," Leabella said and sighed, "How long is this press conference going to be?"

"Not long, Princesss," Ms. Stonewell said quickly, "We told the audience of the conference that you are in mourning and have an urgent matter to take care of."

"Good," Leabella said, "I need to get Suzaku out of this mess as soon as possible."

Okay, hope you liked it. I tried to get this one out as soon as possible. Tell me if you miss the flashback and want one in next chapter. I'm excited for next chapter; hope you are too!
