Chapter 8: The Treasures

Ah… the calmness…

The breeze is very warm. Strange. Isn't it supposed to be cold?

Ah… I don't care if the breeze is cold or warm. For me, the breeze gives me a good feeling. It refreshes my mind. Will Yokohama be like this too? Having the calmness in our own house like this? I'm not sure, that'll be any breeze in there. Ah… maybe if we'll move to there, I'll be very missed this calmness…

Alone… but not lonely…

Maybe, I should stop this habit; it rather looks like 'grandpa's habit'. Suddenly, there's a door being push sound comes, it ruins the calmness.

"She's still not coming home, right?"

Ah, that's voice, it's Toya's. I turn my back and throw my eyes on him. He's standing behind his room's door, only his half of face can be seen. It's rather uneasy to look at him.

"Who? Chitose? No, she isn't coming home yet."

I hear a soft sigh from his mouth. I don't know what is that mean. It can mean that he's upset or maybe it means he's relief. I can't guess it; his half face is covered by the door, I can't look at his expression.

"Why?" I continue.

He comes out from there with a big smile. He looks very happy and yells, "WAHOO!"

It makes me confuse with his attitude. What's on his mind? Is he going crazy because it's too cold inside his room? I'm curios. I want to ask him, but, "Atsuma, quick! We must go to the warehouse!" he says with happy smile.

Hah? Isn't that place that has many boxes in there? And there're spaces between the boxes, which is much like my size. My size! I'm the biggest. I'm very fat, well, can't say that I'm fat either; healthy is the correct word. But, what will he do in there? There's no fun in there, just boxes. And what could boxes do with us? Hah, he's just silly as usual. Don't pay any attention on him, Atsuma.

"Hey! Are you listening? Come on! We must go to the warehouse." He says while pulling my right arm.

"No way. Why should we go there?"

"Just follow me!" He pulls me with his strength until I stand up and forced to follow him. I'm too tired to argue with him and so, I just follow him.

He pushes my back to the warehouse which is near the living room. I just stand in front of the door, waiting for him to open the door. He seems to understand what I mean, so with annoyed looking face, he opens the door for me. He doesn't enter it, I just look at him, and waiting what will he do after this.

"Inside, Atsuma." He points the room and his voice sounded a little bit urge.

"What? You first." I think he wants to trick me. Not so easy, pal. Maybe when I enter the room, he'll lock me from outside.

"I'll not lock you." Ah, how can he read my mind? Or maybe my face is telling him so?

"Please! You should enter it first!" He begs me. Hey, it's the first time he begs me. Hmm… what should I do? As a good friend of him, of course I'll help, but I need the reason.

"So… tell me the reason, why I should go in there first?"

"Well…" He stops till that. I wait for him to speak again. But, it seems he won't talk.

"Well what?"

"Ah…" just comes from his lips. He seems nervous, maybe he is Nyctophobia. He afraid of dark yet wants to go inside? Man, he'll trouble me.

"A-ah…There's… there's a ghost inside…"

Finally, the reason comes from his mouth. But, wait! What!? A ghost, he said? GHOST? G-H-O-S-T!?

"Are you sick? There's a ghost inside yet you still want to go in?" I attempt to leave him and continue my habit.

"Atsuma! Wait! Listen to me! There're Chitose's treasures inside!"

Wha… T-treasures? And those are Chitose's!? Did I hear that wrong?

"Don't you wanna see it, Atsuma?"

Ah… those words are like magic that hypnotize me. I want to see it. What kind of treasure is that? I want to know, but…

"Hey, isn't that 'just like a thief' if you sneak like this? Chitose is not here though."

He just remains silent but he opens his eyes very big. He, of course, feels surprise for that 'just like a thief' word. He said to me that when we first met. He must feel ashamed for now I'm using the words to him.

"Well…" he breaks the silence, "you wanna see it too, right?"

His sentence pierces my heart. True! I want to see it. It rings several times on my ears. What should I do? What should I DO? It's a very rare oppurtunity to see Chitose's treasures.

"Come on!" His voice seems very impatient.

Again, he pushes my back to move forward through the door. Oh, my God! This is it! I want to see it! I'll not close my eyes even a sec. Toya seems to know this room very well; he turns the light very fast upon entering this room. As for me, my eyes wander around the room wildly. And I can see… BOXES!? Not again! What's wrong with this boy's brain?

"So… The treasures are Boxes…"

His reply is only a smile, for me it's just a big annoying smile. Well, I better go now. I don't need to waste my time just for the boxes.

I attempt to leave but he quickly says, "Wait! I haven't opened the box yet."

Right… I stop my steps and wait for him to open one of those boxes. But how could he open it? The boxes look very heavy and hard, of course, those were made from steels. And, there're something glowing come out from the boxes continuously. I'm feeling that it doesn't come from this place. Maybe it came somewhere far away from this place, or perhaps other planet.

"Well… I'm going to open it." He puts his hands on one of the boxes; this box has a number 19 on it.

"Yeah! Yeah!" I'm soooooo impatient! Come on, Toya! Open it!

He goes behind one of the boxes and PUSHES it! I'm so surprise, my brain has not think about what should I do yet my hands push it back to the place before it falls.

"Are YOU nuts!?"

"Well, that's the only way to look what inside is."

Knock it off! What's with the innocent face!

"What!? But if it's broken, the treasure must be broken too."

"It'll be just fine. These boxes call Enchant Item Box. It's an enchanted box that can perfectly keep the item inside it."

Just hear his words make me sick. He's just explaining what those boxes are. What I need to know is his mind!

"And for that reason I pushed it… Nah, you'll know…" And he just pushed it.

The box, of course, turns to pieces. I can't say anything; I just shake my head right and left several times. But, HE! He still with his smile.

"Look, Atsuma! It's Chitose's treasures!"

Although, I see the treasures, I still couldn't be happy, because those're just BOOKS! Very thick Books!

"Toya, please… why is that always book?"

"Book is good for brain." He says that while picking several books from the floor.

"Duh, I can't read!" He doesn't listen to me. It's alright, if he heard that sentence, maybe he'd mad at me and would start to teach me again.

He still busies with those books. Choosing one by one, sometimes open one of the pages randomly, read it for a while and put it in his right side or sometimes his left side. I myself don't do anything. I need to leave this place. It's good to do my grandpa hobby rather in here. I don't care about him anymore, there's even no ghost in here.

I'll leave him here; I bet he'll be taken a long time to finish the books.

"Wait, Atsuma."

Sigh… What now? I turn my back to him; I'm tired to say something.

"Could you help me bring these books to my room?"

We leave the broken number 19 box inside the warehouse and some books over the floor. I help him to bring those giant books to his room. I can feel my feet heavier than usual. Perhaps it's because the books I'm holding. Without any words, I leave him who already starts to read one of those books. I have many questions to ask him though, but I'll leave them for lunch. Well, time for me to do my own hobby now.
