Chapter 9: The Enchantment
It's 11.30. I'm hungry. And feel bored. I don't do anything so much since I helped that maniac-books boy with his books. Or should I say Chitose's books. I was rubbing my nose when it felt itchy, sometimes my eyes when I felt sleepy, yawned several times, scratched my back or looked at Toya's room, just to make sure he didn't make any trouble for me again.
The clock that's hanging above the fireplace shows that's already 11.35. I spends my every minutes just to stare at this nothingness. Nothing expects the snow that can't melt. Every minute, I'm waiting for Chitose. And still no one's coming.
Chitose already leaved for two hours. Where does she go? What does she do? Shopping? Or maybe gossipping with her friends?
Well, how about Toya? He must feel hungry too. I should warn him to eat.
I stand up lazily and walk to his room. I knock his door and call his name.
"Toya… Toya… time for lunch…"
No answer.
"Toya!"
No answer, again. Oh, come on! He can't be taking a nap.
"Toya!" I call him louder. Yet still no answer.
Oh, man… maybe I should enter his room to make sure that he's alright.
I enter his room without knock it. Inside, I can see that maniac boy is reading his book and what's that on his ears? Earplugs with cables?
"Toya!"
He's still in his own world. Reading and nodding his head up and down with rhythm. He doesn't even notice me came in.
"Toya! TOYA!"
"WOAH!" he surprised to see me standing in front of his door. He removes the earplug from both of his ears. He looks at me with annoyed.
Before he can throw his silly nag, I quickly say, "I did knock."
He speechless, just a little sigh comes from his red lips.
"Do you hungry? Or maybe you're full enough because of the books."
I tease him as nice as I could. But his face doesn't show that my words are nice enough for him. His face becomes unhappier than before I tease him.
"Well, thank you for reminding me for the lunch. But I'll have my lunch in here."
"What? Then I'll have my lunch in here too."
"What? No." he simply answers.
I know he will say no, but I have many of backup plans. He stands up and pushes my back to the dining room. We already know where's the lunch is placed. Always on the table, cover with big plastic lid. Our lunch spreads tasty smell no more, but still, we look at them with hungry face. Although, they're just two fried chickens, a plate of cabbage and a plate of broccoli, they're still look very delicious in our eyes. Oh, Chitose didn't forget about the rice, it's on the rice cooker, still warm and smells god. Other than that, Chitose cooked a full large bowl of seaweed soup. Hmm… my favourite. I open the bowl's lid and the steam rise to the top through my nose. It makes my stomach grumble for food several times.
"Stop that! It's so disgusting to hear sounds from your big stomach!"
After saying those sentences, there's other grumble sound comes from Toya. His grumble sound is louder than mine.
I laugh, "So… can you stop yours?"
He just looks at me with his red face and sharp eyes. I know that he also starving. Without any hold back, we fill up our plate with the dishes, two big scoops of rice, broccolis, cabbages, and fried chicken for each of us. Of course I can't leave the seaweed soup. I take another two bowls from cupboard, one is smaller and the other is bigger. The bigger is mine, of course. I give it to Toya who immediately protest the bowl's size. I ignore him to get the first chance to scoop the soup. He, again, protests. Ignoring him is the best way that I've learnt since the first time I met him.
After done with mine, I leave him and walk into his opened room. I put my plate and bowl in the floor, next to the books. I sit down and wait for him to come back. He must be very surprised.
Hehe… I'm giggling just to imagine his expression. He must be, "AH! Atsuma! Why are you here!?"
Hehe… I like to tease this boy. Hmm? This earplug is very interesting. What are these long white cables for? I want to know, what exactly this is, it also has voices comes over there. So mysterious… so I decide to put it into my ear all together in both of my ears.
Whoa, there's music come from here, so melodious and calming. Oh, it stops. And after a minute, there's a music come again from it.
ARGH! My ears are hurt! Darn! What's with that ugly music anyway?
"AH! Atsuma! Why are you here!?" he suddenly comes in with his lunch.
See? He says the word that I just said. I set my innocent face and smile for him. He stares at me and continue his lecture. "What are you doing with my earphones?!"
"Earphones? So this called earphones. What's this for?"
He grabs the earphones, "Don't touch it!"
"Hey, don't be so stingy. I just want to know."
"You know enough already."
What? Hearing that makes me angry. Who does he think he is? He may be a genius-handsome boy, but he has no manner on him. I seem like a stranger for him. What do I know? Nothing!
"I don't! I don't even know what you are planning to do with the box you've just broke."
He keeps silence and freeze. Then he looks at me, an empty look with important meanings. Maybe he just thinks about how to fix the box. I scratch my head and say, "I can help you."
We go to the warehouse again. The pieces of the box are still in there. Nothing changes after all. I pick the pieces from the floor, but that boy just stand beside me.
"Can't you help?"
He's still ignoring me. I turn my head to scold at him, but as I look at him, I see that his hands are glowing.
"Hey, step aside."
Although, I don't want to, but I still follow his command. I move away and let him squats in front of the pieces. He moves his glowing hands to the pieces and what happened next is really surprising me. The pieces! They're all gone! And a box with 19 written on it comes from nowhere suddenly appear.
"My God! Isn't that the broken box?"
"He he… cool, huh?"
"Yeah! You can do magic, teach me!"
"It's not magic. It's called enchantment." He says something confusing words again.
"What enchantment is? Can I do it too?"
"Sure. What you must do is practice every day. And you must to know what enchantment is. To learn it you must blah blah ..."
Oh, brother. He keeps explaining what enchantment is. I even don't listen to him instead I'm daydreaming or maybe fall asleep.
