Chapter 18:Insomnia

"Chitose, need help?" I ask her who is still cooking.

"Well, maybe you can call Toya out from his room." She turns to see me. Her face looks surprise when she sees me.

Uh-oh, I need find a good reason right now.

"What happen to you? Your face is pale." She puts her hand to my forehead.

"I'm not sick, Chitose. I'm just…" I haven't found any one reason.

"Yes?" ask Chitose curiously.

"Ah! Yes! I'm just having a nightmare." Yes, it's a good reason, plus I'm telling the truth. Although it's not a nightmare, it's like a weird dream. But it stills a dream.

"About what?"

"Er… well, it's… er…" Should I just tell my silly dream about her and her boyfriend? Or about a boy name Kenta and a woman name Sage?

"I'm starving…" Suddenly Toya comes to interrupt. Thanks to him, I don't need to continue talking about my dream.

"Dinner will be ready in any minute, Toya. Sorry, I'm a bit slow today." Chitose gives him her best smile.

"No problem. Do you need help?" Asks Toya.

"It's Okay, you two can play while waiting for dinner."

Toya and I walk together to the front room. It's a bit awkward. I don't know how his mood is now. Hope his mood backs to normal now.

"Sorry." Toya whispers.

"What?" I can't hear really well with that low voice.

"I'm sorry… I really didn't mean that."

I open my eyes wide. To hear Toya said sorry, it's really surprising.

"For what?"

"This morning… Sorry… I didn't mean to yell at you…" He looks down to the floor.

"Ah, that… Don't mind it. I know you had a rough day." I laugh awkwardly.

"Yes, but still… I'm sorry… You're my best friend, I'm not supposed to do that."

Hearing that makes me wanna cry. It's unbelievable. Those are coming from the arrogant Toya's mouth. Better yet, he told me that I'm his best friend. I'm really touched. I unwittingly let a single drop tear falls down from my right eye.

"It's Okay, really. We're best friends after all."

Toya smiles, it's the best smile that I've ever seen from him.

At dinner, we back to our normal laughter. This feeling is very good, just like a family.

The night comes and we sleep earlier today. On my bed, I can't close my eyes. Maybe it's because I took a nap this afternoon. But it's not a good nap, I've had the longest dream, and it hurt my arm badly. I need to get sleep soon. I'm so tired because of that dream. But why I can't close my eyes then? I piss me off.

All I do is just throw myself from one side to the other side. I really can't sleep. I think reading maybe will help me. I grab a book that lying on the desk next to my bed and open the desk lamp that stand on my desk. The book that I grabbed just now is about golem. I love to look at the golems' pictures. I like Odin the most, it looks cool and seems strong. Night Servant, Palace Gunner, Saber tooth Tiger also seem strong too. Prim Rose and Sebastian will also become very handy to help Chitose with her house works when we move to Yokohama.

It seems like I chose the wrong book. Golems are so cool! It makes me exciting when I read this book. My eyes open wider than before. Maybe I should change the book. I look on my desk, only two books standing on top of the desk, The Tale of the Ice Witch and Yokohama City Guide. I prefer Yokohama City Guide since I don't like The Tale of the Ice Witch story that much. But if I read Yokohama City Guide, maybe I even can't sleep anymore.

The clock that standing on the desk keeps ticking, it draws my attention to look at it. It shows 23.38. Every time the clock tick makes me worrier, I'm afraid when I look it again, it'll be morning. I decide to lie down on my bed and close my eyes. The ticking sounds seem louder than ever. I wrap my ears with pillow, still it can be heard. Suddenly I can hear a voice that's really familiar.

'Proceed…'

Again? Not now, please. My arms still numb. I press my right arm as hard as I could, ready for the sensation, but nothing happen. Instead I can hear a door being close really carefully. After that, I can hear footsteps. Could it be Chitose? Is she going to toilet? Or maybe she's going to that warehouse?

I wonder…

Because of my curiosity, I decided to take a look. I open my door slowly and close it slower. I barely make any sounds. I look across through the opening between my room, living room and warehouse which I can see very clearly what happen on the opposite hallway. There's no sign that Chitose in there. I don't see any light that comes from door's gaps.

I turn my head to my right side where Chitose's room, toilet, bathroom and that mysterious room are located. It's nothing strange on this side of hallway. Hmm, maybe I heard it wrong?

I decide to go back to my room, but I take a last peek to that side once more. I narrow my eyes and look at it carefully. There's really nothing strange, indeed, but I have this weird feeling.

Suddenly, someone taps my shoulder. It gives me shiver. I close my mouth with both of my hands and press them hardly while I'm gasping really loud. I know it must be Toya, but it still really scared me. I turn around to see him.

"What are you doing?" I bark at him silently.

"So do you?" He asks me calmly.

"I can't sleep and I heard voices so I go to check it. But it seems there's nothing strange going on." I raise my shoulders and shake my head several times.

"No, you're wrong. I heard that too. I bet it must be Chitose going to 'that room'. He points to where the mysterious room is located.

"What? Don't be silly. I don't see any light comes out from the door's gap."

"Have you forgotten? It has two doors in there." He rubs his chin, thinking.

Right, there are two doors in that room. That's why it makes it more mysterious. Every time I tried to peek inside it, I always failed. I lost my desire to look at it. Moreover, it's Chitose's secret. I shouldn't interrupt someone's private place.

"So… you wanna go take a look?" He smiles at me.

Argh! The temptation. No! I must not!

"Atsuma? Come on."

"No, Toya. I'm done with Chitose's secrets."

Toya opens his eyes widely. He slowly opens his mouth and let the air comes inside it.

"What?" He asks slowly.

"I mean, we nearly got into trouble with those boxes last time, right? I don't want to get into troubles again."

Toya knits his brows. He ready to let his bark out, but instead he wraps his hand on my mouth and drags me to darker place.

"Well, this is for tonight. Thank you, Prim Rose." A familiar voice can be heard inside that room.

"Good Night, Chitose." Another unfamiliar voice is also coming from inside.

"Tomorrow, we'll go to Yokohama."

"Yes, sleep well, Chitose."

Wh-what? Chitose is going to Yokohama tomorrow? I'm really curious yet I can't ask her.

I feel Toya's hand presses harder against my mouth, push me back for more perfect hiding from Chitose who goes to her own room.

I can see Chitose is yawning. She must be really tired.

But, Yokohama? Seems Chitose has more secrets other than those boxes.

I look at Toya in the eyes, hoping he could give me answer for my curiosity, but no. His eyes tell me that he doesn't know anything either.
