Chapter 25:Sleepy
"…suma…"
I don't know what time is it, but that voice is extremely annoying. I still close my eyes, because I'm not totally awaken yet.
"Atsuma! Atsuma! Wake up!"
I feel strong vibration from my bed. I wake up because I'm surprised.
I look at Toya who stands exactly in front of me.
"What!" I startled.
"Ssh!" Toya puts his finger in front of his mouth. "I heard something outside." He whispers.
"Maybe it's just animals." I whisper too.
"No, I bet it's not just animals. It came from the living room."
"Really?"
"Come with me. We must check it." He pulls my both hands. I stand up and follow him outside.
It's really freezing outside, and it still dark. I barely can see anything. The clock that hanging in the living room keeps ticking. I'm narrowing my eyes to see the clock. I barely can see what time is it, but I think it's almost midnight.
We search every corner in the living room, yet there's nothing.
"There's nothing here, Toya. Maybe we should go back to sleep." I suggest.
"Well, maybe you're right." Toya seems disappointed.
BRAKK!
We stop our steps. The sound is coming from the warehouse. Without hesitate, we run to it. Toya turns on the light, his eyes search wildly for anyone or anything suspicious inside the warehouse. I dare myself to enter it deeper. Toya whimpers and stands near the door.
"Toya, there's a broken box here."
"What?! We never go that deep, there must be someone else who broke it earlier. She's still in this room. Don't let her get out." Toya steps inside further and starts to search every corner of this room.
"She? You don't mean Chitose, right?" I still stand in my place.
"Of course she is. Who else will be in here?" He still busy.
"I don't know. Maybe a thief?" I shrug.
He pouts. "Pu-lease… A thief? In place like this?"
"Well, you remember that man that I saw this morning?" I think. "Maybe it's him?"
I can hear a slight sigh comes from Toya's mouth, "There's no one here."
I thought his sigh was because I told him about that man, but he sighed because he didn't find anyone here. It make me a bit disappointed.
"So… no one's here. Can we go back?" I suggest.
"Wait." He replies.
"Oh, brother!" I face palm my forehead.
Toya squats in front of the broken box and checks it. I stand behind him. I see a lot of papers. We never break this one, so we don't know what inside it before. Toya takes the papers and read it.
"What's that?" I ask.
"It's about Golem research. The fourth Devil Golem?" Toya rubs his chin.
"So? Come on, Toya, we should go back now. It's getting creepier here." The wind sends chill down to my spine.
"Only three … but why?" He mumbles.
"Toya!" I drag his arm to force him to stand up.
"Wait, Atsuma! These are research documents. It's very important." Toya grabs the pile of papers.
"Toya!" I scold him.
"Just a sec." He replies while he puts the papers on my arms. "You want to return to your room quickly right? So help me then." He puts another pile of paper on my arms.
I want to burst my anger in front of his face, but I rather not. I want this end soon so I can continue with my sleep. Sigh... it's rather hard to find peaceful sleep lately.
He takes all of the papers and tells me to put them in his room. After I put them in his room, I go back to my own room. I don't care what he will do with those papers, what I care now is a peaceful sleep.
I wake up rather late this morning. And the weird thing is also happened with Chitose, she wakes up after me.
"Huh? Chitose?" I rub my eyes to see her better.
"Huamm… Morning Atsuma. How's your sleep last night?" She yawns several times.
"Nice… You?" It was indeed the finest sleep I ever had recently.
"Well…" Chitose yawns again, "Not bad… but not good either."
"What do you mean?" I scratch my head, but Chitose just gives me her smile.
"I better get breakfast ready now. Sorry for waking in such hour." She smiles.
"It's Okay, I just got up myself too." I reply, "Let me help you, Chitose."
We prepare for the breakfast. Chitose quicker than usual, she doesn't want make us wait any longer. The truth is I feel more and hungrier every time I smell Chitose's cook. Oh, how I wish I could eat them all without have to wait for Toya. The smell is killing me.
"Almost ready~" Chitose claps her hands in joy. "You should call Toya now, Atsuma."
"Okay." I speak with low voice. I can't waste any energy that I left behind. My stomach is crying for food.
I walk down slowly to the hall, passing the toilet and the secret room; turn to the right; passing Chitose's room and my room; at last I stand in front of Toya's room. I knock the door slowly.
"Toya, wake up. Nine o'clock. Breakfast." Too weak to speak.
"Huh? Nine already? Man, I haven't done with that." He scratches his head.
"That? You don't mean those papers we found last night?" Out of curiosity I force myself to speak.
"Shh! Keep it down!" He puts his index finger in front of his mouth. "Yes, I found something I want you to know. But let us eat first, I'm starving."
