Chapter 27: Her Laugh
"HELP!" Toya screams loudly.
Primrose and her comrades come out from behind the door.
"Intruders! Intruders!" They shout at us. It gives me heart attack.
Now we really are death. So very very death!
"Primrose!" A voice shouts from distance.
"Chitose, welcome home." The Golems say with calm voice and in the perfect harmony.
"Ara? Atsuma and Toya…" Chitose looks us sharp now.
We both take big gulps. Chitose must be very angry to us for sneaking to this room. For crying out loud, it's her secrets inside it. What have you done to us, Toya? You put us in big trouble.
"Hmm…" Chitose murmurs. "I forget... again… It's the time…"
I can't hear her sentence clearly. She steps in and calls Primrose.
"Primrose, let me introduce you to Atsuma and Toya." Chitose points to us. "Atsuma, Toya, she's Primrose. Maybe you already know that she's a Golem."
Primrose takes a deep bow at us. I nod to her. Toya seems he will fainted anytime. Chitose sees Toya's condition and orders Sebastian to carry him to his room. Chitose then squats in front of me. She smiles and pats my head. Strange, I'm not scared anymore.
"We should check on Toya." Says Chitose.
We go to Toya's room with Primrose comes along too. I can see Sebastian serves a glass of hot chocolate for Toya. His hands is shaking, he looks pale and full of questions. Sebastian offers us hot chocolates too. Of course, I would like to drink it too after that shocking experience.
"You two still seem pretty shock." Chitose takes a sip of her hot chocolate. "Hmph." She let a little laugh out from her mouth.
Suddenly that little laugh turns to a big laugh. Chitose laughs until her eyes fill with tear and presses her stomach.
"Hahahaha! Remembering your faces is killing me. Hahahaha!" She can't stop laughing. "Those faces… Hahahaha! You should see your own faces. Especially Toya. Hahahaha!"
She bursts into laugh. Both Toya and I look at her confusedly. It's the first time we see Chitose so happy. But it gives us creeps. She supposes to be angry at us, yet she drinks hot chocolate with us and laughs uncontrollably.
"Haha… Sorry… Fiuh… It's been a long time since I laughed like that." She weeps her tear and lets a small sigh. "I wonder how long it has been…"
Silence for a moment. She slurps her hot chocolate once more. I also follow her, I don't want my hot chocolate turns to cold chocolate. Toya on the other hand doesn't bother with his hot chocolate. Instead he asks Chitose the very question that I absolutely will ask her too.
"Ummm… Are you mad at us?" He asks.
"Huh?" Chitose looks confuse. "Why should I?"
"We broke to your secret room!" I yell out of misery.
"It's my fault. I forgot to lock it." She smiles and taps her head slowly. "Hmm… seems that I always forget to lock it though." She rubs her chin. "Hahaha! In fact I never bother to lock it."
"Why? If that's your secret inside it, you should lock it." Toya protests.
"It's not secret. It's my lab. There's no secret inside it. Well, at least for you guys." She still smiles.
"But we can't go in there." Toya protests again.
"I never said you can't go in there, right?" Chitose replies.
"Well… it's true…" Toya speechless. "B-but… It's full of mystery, we are scared of that room. So we thought we can't go inside."
"Can't go inside?" Chitose asks slowly and looks at us.
"W-well… it's not what you think. I'm so curious. The room has its own magic, you know? The door begs me to open it, you know?" Toya says but his face full of bullets of sweat.
She lets a big laugh again.
"So… can we go inside?" I ask.
"Hahaha! You can. Of course you can." She pats both our heads. "But I must be there when you want to go inside. It's full of dangerous chemicals inside, so I need to keep an eye of you two."
"So can we go now?" I'm so excited.
"Sure? Why not? How about you, Toya? You OK now?" She asks.
"Yes! I'm perfectly fine!" Toya also feels excited.
"Well, let's go now!" Says Chitose happily.
It's the most excited moment in my days at this house. I will never forget about this day.
