Chapter 28:Seiji

We finally steps in the secret room. It's an awesome place. All the things that I never see appear before my eyes. There's a lot of Golems' Cores. I feel more and more excited. I want to know all of these things. I'm not the only one who excited, Toya almost jumps out of excitement.

Suddenly I hear a small sigh comes from Chitose. It's not a disappointment sigh, it's a joyful sigh.

"It's been years since I have human partner in this lab." She looks around the lab, reminiscing.

"Was your partner's name Seiji by any chance?" I ask because I remember my dreams where Chitose and Seiji always together. In fact they're a couple.

Chitose laughs. "I know you would ask me this." She sits herself in one of the chair.

"How do you know?" I ask surprisingly.

"I've been very busy lately. Doesn't mean I don't know what you guys were doing whenever I was gone." She giggles. "I know that every time I went out, you snuck in to the boxes room, which you call the warehouse. I know you always broke the boxes and Toya usually took only books and Atsuma takes whatever you thought it was cool. I know how many boxes have you 'destroyed'. I know what books you already read. I know about the ghost that Toya so afraid of. I know what you took at that night, you took our research documents. And of course, I know how you know about Seiji." She brightly smiles at us.

"H-how does she know that?" Toya whispers at me.

She lets a small laugh. "I have lots of camera in this house."

"So you have those cameras just to watch us?" I ask.

"No, for other reason. Every time I was out, I'll check on the video at night." Says Chitose.

"You don't mad at us?" Toya asks.

"No, I should know already that it's really boring for you two to stay here. Even sometimes I feel bored too."

"True! This place's suck!" As I say it, Toya nudges my stomach.

Chitose laughs again. "Yes, this place is really suck. But I have my own reason for choosing this place."

"Um…" Toya mumbles. "Seems you know this place is haunted? You mentioned the ghost that I'm so afraid of. Why you still chose to live here?"

Chitose laughs harder. "There's no ghost in this house. It was me. I disguised myself as the warehouse ghost."

We are so speechless. How come she did that to Toya?

"Again, I've my own reason. When Toya found out about the boxes, I still didn't have enough time to collect our data about the Last Golem. So I scared him as a ghost." She giggles.

"Chitose, excuse me to interrupt. But you said our data. You mean you and?" I ask.

"Seiji…" Her smiles turn to a gloomy smile.

"Seiji? Seiji is my big bro. Where's he now? Please, tell me." Toya begs.

"He's not in this world anymore…" Chitose still smiles.

"Wha-what do you mean by that? You always go out lately. Doesn't that mean you meet with him? Can I meet him too?" Toya becomes nervous.

"He's already leave us long ago. He's death." Chitose looks down when she said that word.

"No… It can't be!" Toya yells. "No! My big brother… He must be somewhere in this house, right? Chitose?"

Chitose stares blank at Toya. Tears fill both of Chitose and Toya's blue eyes. Toya cries as hard as he can. Chitose remains in her silence. Watching them crying, makes me real sad although I can't understand the feeling of losing the loved one. Golems who stand by Chitose side all this time too, feel sad. Golems may be things without heart, but they do have connected feelings with their master.

It's dinner time. Chitose returns to herself. Not Chitose I used to know, but Chitose that I know from the dream. Toya… I'm worried of him… He locks himself in his room after he learnt the truth of Seiji. Poor Toya, he already lost his village and his family. Now his last hope, his big brother, also disappeared.

"Well… Dinner almost ready." Says Chitose.

"Should I call him?" I ask.

"No need." Says Toya who stands in front of the dining room.

"Toya!" I yell.

"You don't have to yell. It's annoying." It's Toya that I used to know.

I giggle, follow by Chitose and Toya. From small giggles, we laugh. We laugh so hard that night. I don't know what makes us laugh like that, but we are happy as a family.
