Chapter 29:Sage
At night, Chitose kisses us good night. Upon my turn, she kisses my forehead and tells me to have sweet dreams. Before she leaves, I call her. I wanna talk to her about something that has been bothering me recently. She then sits on my bed.
"Chitose, do you know a woman called Sage?" I ask.
"Sage… Well, it sounds familiar." She rubs her chin. "Someone that I met when I do my research perhaps."
"She lives in a place called Sage's Tower." I help her to remember.
"Ah!" She claps her hands, "Yes! I know about her. She's the one that helped us to get the Last Golem's sample. Yes, yes! It's her."
"Yes, it's her. Do you know she had a boy?" I push her slowly to give me information.
"A boy… Yes, she has a boy. His name is Kenta." Chitose seems remember well about the boy.
"Right. Do you know anything about them?" I hope she gives me more information than my dreams.
"Well… We just met. I don't know very much about them. For the first time you look at her, she seems tough and a bit scary. She has a loud voice, you see." She says. I giggle as if I know how the feeling is. "Yet, when she with that boy, Kenta, she looks like a kind mother who love by any children. She really loves him, and so does Kenta. They looks like mother and her child. Sage is not a bad person, but her attitude is a bit unimaginable. She will shout at people whom she doesn't like and make them run like chickens."
Hearing Chitose talks about Sage, somehow I feel like I know Sage for a long long time. I believe I was Kenta. Sage's Kenta.
"But I don't know how they are now. It's been such a long time when we first met. Back when he was alive. I really miss those days."
"You already suffered enough. You have us now." I cheer her up.
She smiles cheerfully and says, "Yes, you are now my angels."
She kisses my forehead again. She intends to leave me but I quickly call her again.
"Another question Chitose. Do you recognize me?" I ask her the very last question.
She keeps silence for a while. Her eyes catch my silver hair. Then she gasps after realize who I am.
"It can't be… K-Kenta? You are Kenta? That boy?" She pushes my shoulder to the back to see my face clearer. "W-why did you run away from Sage's Tower?"
"I don't know either. I can't remember a thing the first time I got here. But as time goes by, I dreamt a lot about my past. Your past." I say.
"M-my past?" She surprises.
"Yes. I know Seiji was your boyfriend. Both of you were graduated from Yokohama Enchant University, when you graduated you still lived in Yokohama, but already into this Last Golem thing. As my dream continued, you already met with Sage and me. I wasn't sure that boy was me, so I ask you. It seems that I was that Kenta boy." I explain.
"H-how…?" Now she looks shock.
"I wanted to talk to you about this as quick as possible. There's still many unanswered question for me too. Like why did I leave Sage who was like my mother to me? Also, why I dreamt about you and Seiji very often. Whenever I start my dream, it was always about you two." I say.
Chitose too shock to talk.
"Toya also told me that I have a very rare ability. I can absorb ether from my right arm. I still don't know why either." I continue.
"Yes. When I watched the video that recorded you absorbed the ether from the boxes, it's really surprised me. There's no such power for human to absorb ether. It's like…" Chitose says.
"The Last Golem's sample." We both shout.
"Sage, what have you done? You shouldn't do that." She whispers to herself.
"Chitose?" I call her.
"…Atsuma, I think the some of the sample is planted in your right arm by someone." Chitose explains.
"By Sage?" I ask.
"Perhaps." She replies shortly. "Only Sage that can answer this. I think it's the time to pay Sage another visit."
"You mean we can go to Sage's Tower? To the outside world?" I become excited again.
She smiles and gives me a slight nod. "But we need to keep this secret to Toya first. Because he already have his own problems now. Tomorrow I will explain everything to him."
I nod to her and kiss her cheek. She, again, kisses my forehead and says good night to me. I sleep very well that night.
