Chapter 36:Kou

I return to the warehouse. I'm scared, but I will not leave Chitose behind. I take a peek from the door. It's such a disaster, coreless Golems are everywhere. It's calmer too, maybe it's already end. I open the door wider. Indeed, the fight has finished, except for Chitose and the man. They both are in the living room.

"You are the one who murdered Seiji, weren't you, Kou?" It's the first time I hear Chitose's unfriendly voice.

"Indeed. So, what about that?" He grins. This guy is definitely the one I saw in the snowfield. I remember that purple suit and that scary unforgiving face.

"You coward! He thought you as his best friend until his end." She shouts.

"I don't care what he thinks. He's dead now." He pushes his eyeglasses. "I never like him nor you. You two were excellent in class, teachers' favorite, everyone loves you. You have many friends, so why he CHOSE me as his best friend?" He yells. "I was a loser in class, nobody liked me. I was excelled in class once, but still nobodies liked me. But when you two came, my days were ruined. I thought at first nobody liked me because I was too clever, too smart. But you two came! You two excelled ME in class, yet you still got friends. I HATE you!"

"I beg your pardon, but it's your own fault for envying us. I never like you either. I despise you even more. But Seiji was an innocent man, he had a very pure heart, he pitied you for your selfishness, so he became your friend." Chitose still holds her sword in her waist, ready to draw anytime.

"Hahaha!" he lets his sinister laugh. "Pity? I don't need anyone for pitying myself. I just realized what I need is power to overrule this pathetic world. If The Last Golem, Infinity is in my control, I can do whatever I want!"

"If that is your intention… then tell me why did you kill him?" Chitose bites her lips.

"Hmph! Why? Because he wanted to destroy it. Apparently he realized that the Golem will bring disaster in this world sooner or later. He already prepared to burn the sleeping Golem. I couldn't let him did that, so I stabbed him from behind when he didn't notice." After that he laughs.

"You monster!" Chitose draws her sword and points it to the man.

"Go on, kill me. But I must warn you, I still have lots of Golems waiting my order to kill you." He laughs insanely. "As you can see, The Last Golem is still sleeping, so I need your data to reveal the secret to wake him. I know what you've been doing lately, you went to Grave Keeper's Village to collect data, correct? I've been spying on you since I knew where your hideout is. And I know you already finished with the research. So give me your research data and no harms done."

"You sick bastrad!" Chitose clenches her punch.

I've been hiding behind the wall for so long, I just need to find perfect timing to attack that guy.

"Oh, and one more thing, I need that boy you called Atsuma." The man says.

"Atsuma?" Chitose surprises.

"He seems have Infinity's power on his right arm. I need him to do my own research. You can have it back when I'm done." Is he thinking that I'm just a thing?

"You can't have him like he's your toy. He's leaving now and you will never find him nor the data you want so much." She speaks.

"What!? The data is not here!? Where do they go? Tell me!" He comes closer to Chitose.

"You any closer and I'll cut your head off." She pushes her sword in his shoulder. "Let me tell you something, Atsuma is Sage's boy and I already send them to Sage now. You will not win against her. She the most powerful person in the world. You fear her, she will kill you and your Golem army with no time. You are a real coward, Kou. You will never earn any respect from others. Everyone hate you, most obviously your selfishness is the reason nobody likes you. You don't deserve to life in this world. " She continues to mock him.

"Shut UP!" he unleashes his magic and wounded up Chitose's shoulder. The sword flies from her hand. Chitose is defenseless now. He grabs Chitose's neck firmly. She cough in pain. It's my time now. I'll absorb his ether and escape with Chitose. I run toward him with all my might and touch his leg with my right arm.

"What the!?" I surprise him. "Don't touch me you filthy monster!" He kicks his leg into the air, but I hug his leg firmly. I can feel his ether power runs through my body.

"Atsuma!" Chitose shouts.

He collapses to the ground powerless. Chitose grabs me and run to the warehouse. But I watch him draws his gun and points it to Chitose. I scream Chitose's name, but I'm too late. He shot her leg already.

Chitose collapses, blood gushes from her wound. She attempts to stand up, I help her. But he stands up first and shoots her again in her back. I want to protect Chitose, so I attack him again. But he punches me right on my face. My cheek becomes numb and my ears fill with fusses. My brain tells me to stand up, but my leg can't move.

"At… su… ma…" Chitose calls my name weakly while attempting to reach my hand.

He grabs Chitose's long hair and says, "I'll find the data no matter how! I'll brcome the ruler of the world. Just you wait in Heaven." He points his gun again, aims it to Chitose and pull the trigger.

Chitose died in front of my eyes. Her fresh blood flows from her several wounds. I know Chitose can't smile at us anymore. I'm sorry Toya, I broke my promise…
