Chapter 38: Our Future
We buried her body in the snowfield; I will never forget her name, Chitose. We put Snow Fairy that we get from backyard. Apparently, it was her favorite flower. We say good bye to her, but promise we will return someday.
Sebastian and Primrose send us to an orphanage in London City. We travel by car in a secret passage. Toya tells me everything about our days in that house with Chitose nonstop. Strange, I feel what he told me was happening to me once.
In the orphanage, Sebastian and Primrose still accompany us. Many parents want to adopt Toya, but he won't accept it, because they don't take me too.
"Toya, don't you want a family?" I ask.
"It's not a family without you. Have you regained your memory?" He smiles.
I shake my head.
"It's Ok. I'm sure you can remember it again someday." He smiles again. As I remember, he rarely smile and always harsh. Maybe I'm remembering the wrong person. Toya is a nice boy, friendly, always help me, never angry and always smile.
Time flies quickly, it's been four months since we are here. Many children go and many children fill their empty bed. Our friends come and go whenever destiny separates us, but destiny also brings us new friends. As for me, I still don't remember anything about my past, but Toya never gives up.
And one day, there are two parents from Yokohama who want to adopt two sons for each. Of course, they want to adopt Toya and me. I'm so glad. Finally, a real family for us. But Toya don't want to separate from me, as we are a family. Luckily for us, they are neighbor, also they are a good friend, so we can see each other every day.
We are so happy, although we are not in one family, but we can see each other every single day. They also don't mind about Sebastian and Primrose come along us. So Toya takes Primrose while I'm taking Sebastian.
My parents and I are very close. They only have a seventeen-year-old daughter who becomes my older sister. She always buys me some sweets or Golem action figure every time she comes home from Yokohama Enchant University in the weekend. We are a happy family.
I always play with Toya every day. And every day, Toya tells me about our days with Chitose over and over again. I never feel bored of his story about us. Sebastian and Primrose will guard us and when time comes they will take us home. Toya's family also a happy family. His parents don't have any children, so they treat Toya like their own flesh. Although sometimes, they sacred of him with reason that he don't understand. They said that Toya is too smart. What a silly reason, but still they love him.
Years have passed, we are students in The Yokohama Enchant University now. Our families are very proud at us. Especially my mother, she cried when I told her I that I can enter the university. She said she prayed in Kyoto's shrine every weekend, she was worried, because my grade wasn't good enough.
Not to worry anymore, Mom. I'll make you proud.
Toya and I prepare ourselves to the opening ceremony. I chose a red color uniform and it looks good on me. My big sis always praises me whenever I wear the uniform. Toya's is dark blue. His favorite color since we were kids.
We are off to the university. It's spring, so it still really cold. Snow still covers the ground. As we walk to the university, Toya is reminiscing our days back in the snowfield.
"You haven't remembered it, haven't you?" He asks.
"Nope. Sorry, but I'll try to remember it. You know, I always repeat what you've told me over and over again until I fall asleep."
He laughs, "Don't you think it is the story that make you fall sleep?"
"Of course no, Toya! I appreciate your story about Chitose." I pat his back slowly.
We both laughs. We still get plenty of time before the ceremony begins, so we decided to walk around a bit. Just to refresh our mind. Suddenly, there's something that catch my sight near the little hill of snow. It's a flower.
"Toya, look." I point it to Toya.
"Ah… a Snow Fairy…" Toya's eyes are sparkling.
"Her favorite flower, no?" I ask.
He just nods.
"It means 'No matter how difficult live is, 'I' still can survive!'" I speak without thinking.
"Ah!" he gasps. I look at him, surprise by his gasp. "You remember what she used to said."
"Did I… say anything?" I ask and he laughs again.
"It's Ok… seems you regain your memory little by little now." He taps my shoulder. "Let's go now."
We walk together to the university. From now on, we still have a long journey, but I have my family and Toya who support me. Toya and I may be have sad pasts, but this is the time to face a new day for our future.
