Chapter four: "Welcome to the Host Club!"
The next day I woke up to Hoshi licking my cheek. I turned around so he couldn't get my face anymore, but he just started to bark instead. I let out a groan and turned to see face my new puppy.
"Fine, fine, I'll wake up…" I sat up on my bed and stretched. Both my brothers were getting ready for school. We have had this habit of sleeping in one bed since we were younger, and it apparently hadn't gone away since they both snuck into my room in the middle of the night. Just like when we were five. "What time is it?" I asked the two orange heads trying to tie their ties.
"It's around 6 in the morning, why?" Hikaru looked at me from the mirror, still trying to tie his tie. Kaoru was all done. I waved at Hikaru to come, so he did and I started to do his tie.
"Oh, just because I have somewhere to go." Hikaru stared at me with suspicion in his eyes.
"Somewhere like where?" He asked curious, trying to look at me straight in the eyes.
"It's a surprise, so you have to wait. I'll tell all of you in the host club, okay?" He nodded, and I did one last loop on his tie.
"Hikaru, we are gonna be late, hurry up!" Kaoru stood at the door frame tying his shoes.
"Well, Luna is taking long."
I glared at him. "I'm all done, you big baby." He kissed my cheek and thanked me as he walked up to Kaoru.
"Bye, see you after school!" I waved my brothers good-bye and dropped myself back to bed. Hoshi sat on my belly, judging my decision. "What? I'm tired. Hika-chan moves a lot and Kao-chan talks in his sleep. It's hard to sleep with those two, you know." Hoshi barked at me. "Hoshi! Come on, give me a break!" He barked again. "Fine! I'll go to Ouran already! Goshhh!" I got up and wandered around in my closet. "Too pink, too casual, too formal, ugh there's nothing," I thought sitting on the floor staring at the clothes in front of me. "What should I wear, Hoshi?" I asked at he walked into my closet. He just shook his head. "Well, I guess I'll wear a t-shirt and jeans," I told him, he shook his head again. "You want me to wear a dress?" Hoshi barked in response. "Well, arent you a little bossy." I got up and started looking through my dresses. "What about this blue one?" Bark. "The blue one it is! Well, first I have to take a bath. I'll be back, so behave yourself." Bark. "That better mean 'yes', Hoshi."
I went into the shower and took as long as I could. If it wasn't for Hoshi barking, I would have taken longer. "I'm out, I'm out!" I put a towel around my body and another one on my hair. "Are you happy now?" He barked in response, I rolled my eyes. It took a while for me to get ready, and Hoshi kept barking for me to hurry up. When I had my dress on I ran downstairs. "Kumiko-chan! Was someone able to get Hoshi's food?"
"Yes, Luna-san."
"Can you serve him some food while I get ready? Maybe he'll stop hurrying me up."
"Sure, Luna-san," she said walking to the storage and taking some of his food out.
"Thanks!" I ran back upstairs and grabbed Hoshi. "It's time for you to go eat, your food is downstairs and I'll be ready by the time you are done, okay?" He nodded and when I put him down he just ran downstairs. "Finally…" I went back to my restroom to get my hair ready. I blow dried it quickly and proceed to do my make up. "Something simple, you're not gonna walk the runway," I told myself as I took some things out of my makeup back. When I was done, I inspected myself in front of my mirror. I grabbed a pair of stud diamond earrings and put them on as I walked back to my bed. As I was putting on some shoes, Hoshi walked back in and pointed towards the door with his nose. I shook my head and bent down to pet him. "I'm all done, happy?"
I headed downstairs, and I was out the door. I had a very important meeting at Ouran. I couldn't be late.
"I am so glad you have been well, Suoh-san."
"Always so polite, Luna. You truly are a remarkable young lady. Your parents must be very pleased with you." The blonde man in front of me examined the papers in his hands, all which contained my records. "You had a tough time the first years of middle school..."
"Oh, that was just a pre-teenage phase. It would never repeat itself. As you can see, I am a straight A student, 4.0 GPA, barely any unexcused absences, and any time I had to be out was because I was helping my mother at work," I thoroughly explained as he kept on reading. "I was also involved in the arts program and student council. I took extra classes for my college entrance exams and prepared for the exam for Ouran during my free time."
"You must really want to be back at Ouran Academy," he stated as he finally put my files down.
"It's only the best school in the country and East Asia." I smiled as I put my hands together and looked at Tamaki's father in the eye. "So, did I make it?"
"Well, Luna..." he started off standing up from his seat, and I followed him with my eyes. "You have extraordinary grades, you were involved in your old school, you also passed the entrance exam with privileges, and well, what can I say you were the top of your class in Paris." I smiled as I stood up. Suoh-san held his hand out to me and I shook it. "Yes, Luna, welcome to Ouran."
"Welcome, ladies!" Tamaki greeted me as I walked into the Host Club. "Oh, it's just Luna. I wondered why the girls got here so early."
"Just Luna? Am I not important?" I crossed my arms and sat on a couch nearby.
"You know that's not what I meant. Anyways, Hikaru and Kaoru told us you had a surprise for us. What is it?" Tamaki asked.
"Well… I'm transferring to Ouran tomorrow." Everyone's eyes opened wide.
"So that means…" Hikaru started and Kaoru finished his sentence. "That you are staying here permanently?"
"Yeap! Isn't that great?" Kaoru came running towards me, and carried me. Hikaru took me away from Kaoru and hugged me really tight. "There's just one little itty bitty problem…"
"What is it?" Both my brothers asked.
"I'm not wearing this ridiculous uniform! It looks like a freaking parachute!" I took it out of a bag they had given me. It was pretty but not me.
"I had a feeling you wouldn't like it," Kaoru said sitting down.
"I'm making my own uniform; I'll have it ready by tomorrow. Haruhi, do you want me to make you one too?" I asked the only girl member of the host club. She shook her head, I pouted. "Why not? I mean they have to find out you're a girl someday!"
"But Haruhi owes money to the Host Club, and the clients are what pays for it. She can't leave until her debt is paid for," Kyoya mumbled from behind his laptop, although I could understand every word he said.
"Kyoya, you and your money problems," I sighed. "So, the Ouran Fair is coming up, right? I remember going to the elementary level one! How are the ones here?"
"Well, this is the second year we, the Host Club, actually do a fair, but it's pretty big. This year is going to be the best since we have two new members of the host club!" Tamaki said raising his hands, I looked at him confused.
"Um, I thought only Haru-chan was new…" I said trying to look for someone else.
"Luna, welcome to the Host Club!" everybody said in unison. I gasped and immediately said, "I rather wear that ugly parachute than dress like a boy and do whatever it is you do with those girls." After a moment of silence, everyone burst out laughing. I did not only freak out because of me being in the Host Club but because I might have to dress like a boy. Kaoru walked up to me and hugged me from the side.
"We really want you to help us with the Host Club. Not as a boy of course…" he reassured me as I looked at the rest of the members.
"Well, what am I going to do if I don't dress like a boy and be a host? That's what Haruhi does..." I hugged him by the waist and he laughed. I looked up to see his face and frowned at him.
"You are going to be our manager. Renge used to be our manager but no one can stand her, and besides no one can be the yellow rose but you." He smiled and pinched my cheek.
"You guys actually gave her the color yellow?" I gasped dramatically. When the Host Club had just started, Tamaki had said that each member should have a specific rose color for whatever reason. Since I video chatted with them so often, he said if I ever came to Ouran mine would be yellow. Like the sun. So, Renge wasn't the original yellow rose, but I guess we could share.
"So I'll be your manager?" I asked and Kaoru nodded. "I guess I can do that. I'd love to join you guys!"
"Well then, Luna we welcome you! We really hope you do a marvelous job as our manager. And about the uniform… I'll inform my father about you wearing something else. I doubt he wouldn't allow it," Tamaki said sitting on a table drinking some green tea. I walked up to where Tamaki was sitting and got his cup. I skipped up to the sofa leaving a clueless expression on him. "That's my tea."
"Well, I wanted some and yours looked good," I said taking a sip of the little cup. I looked up from my cup and grinned evilly. "Hehe…"
"Your sister has no manners!" Tamaki crossed his arms and pouted.
"Do we look like the kind of family that has good manners?" both my brothers said in unison. Then the door opened. Oh, right. The girls were coming. I sank in the sofa and hid my face with my bangs.
"Welcome ladies! Hope you enjoy your day in the Host Club!" Tamaki said recovering rather quickly from his sulking.
"We have a new member of the Host Club!" My brothers told the girls who were sitting with them on a table.
"Oh really? Who is it?" A girl with short dark hair and pretty black eyes said, and I recognized her as the girl who pointed me to this place.
"Our sister, she's the new manager," Hikaru nodded my way, and I quickly looked up when I heard the word 'sister'. "Luna, come here for a second."
I stood up, smiling my way to their table. I stood in between my brothers and looked at both girls. "Yes, is there something you need?"
"Luna, these are two of our regular guest, Asami Hamagushi and Honami Inokuma. Ladies, this is our sister Luna Hitachiin," Kaoru introduced us as the girls gasped in shock and then proceeded to giggle.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, girls," I said gently smiling at the two.
"Are you older or younger than Hikaru and Kaoru?" Honami, a girl with long curly hair asked.
"You could say older, I guess." I shrugged.
"What do you mean?" Asami looked at me puzzled.
"Do three minutes with Hikaru and six with Kaoru count as older?" Their eyes grew wide and jaws fell open.
"So the twins are not actually twins?!" Both girls held hands as they asked in shock. I shook my head in response.
"I can't believe you guys didn't tell them about me. Does that mean you don't love me anymore?" I started to sulk. Fake of course, I knew what my brothers did for the clients so I decided played along as long as I would be part of the Host Club.
"No, Luna! Don't say that, I love you so much. I can't even begin to describe the amount of my love!" Hikaru grabbed me by the waist and sat me on his lap.
"That's not true! I love you more than Hikaru! No one can love you as much as I love you!" Kaoru grabbed my hands and pulled me closer to him.
"Kaoru, you don't love her as much as I do!" I could hear the girls swoon over the (rather embarrassing) scene.
"Oh my gosh! They are fighting over their sister! This is better than the brotherly love! It's brotherly jealousy! How adorable!" They both went on babbling over us, and I was about to burst out laughing.
"Hika-chan, Kao-chan, I don't want you to fight. Why don't I bring you some tea so you can both calm down?" I got up from Hikaru's lap and kissed the top of his head. Love could also be our main selling point and I was sure Kyoya would appreciated it. "Would you girls like some too?" I stood behind Kaoru and wrapped my arms around his neck, making the girls eyes sparkle with joy.
"Yes, please!" They agreed together.
"Alrighty, four cups of tea coming right up!" I left the table and went to the back room. Which they mostly used as a kitchen. "Now, if I was tea where would I be?"
"You'll be on the top shelf on the right corner." I turned around and found Haruhi walking beside me. She stood on her tiptoes as she tried to reach for the tea.
"You are pretty short aren't you?" I asked reaching and grabbing the bag of tea Haruhi attempted to grab.
"Well, your brothers are pretty tall, I guess I am short for you." I started heating up water for the tea and let out a small laugh at Haruhi's comment.
"I'm shorter than my brothers, but you are pretty short. No offense."
"Don't worry, none taken." She smiled to which I gladly returned.
The day at the Host Club went by pretty fast, and I decided to go shopping for some thing for Hoshi. By the time we arrived home, it was already nine. I was about ready to head to bed. We had a quiet dinner just the three of us, with my brothers occasionally making a comment on something that happened during their classes. When we were done, we all headed to my room and I had to almost be carried up the stairs.
"I'm tired, I wanna go to sleep," I whined as I walked into my room and dropped myself into bed.
"You were the one that wanted to go to the pet store. Kaoru, do we have any homework?" Hikaru sat on top of my back and I tried to reach behind me to hit him. "Stop that. You'll hurt yourself." He mocked patting my head.
"Get off meeeeee!" I tried rolling myself so Hikaru's legs would be on top of me instead, but couldn't. My brothers looked skinny, but they were actually heavy.
"Did we, Kaoru?" He asked again ignoring me. I let out a growl.
"I think we had geometry homework… but I don't remember," Kaoru sat next to me and Hikaru (who was still on top of me). "Hikaru, get off her. She can't breathe."
"You can't?" Hikaru asked 'innocently', and I swear I could see him smiling.
I glared at him, "Of course… I can't… you fat…assssssssssssssssss!" I pushed myself up with all my upper body strength, and made Hikaru fall of the bed.
"Told you to get off her." Kaoru looked down to see Hikaru on the floor. Laying on his stomach and trying to get up.
"That hurt, Luna!"
"That's what you get for being mean!" I crossed my arms and looked down to see Hikaru. And I smirked…
"Wipe that smirk off your face…" Hikaru stood up and sat on my couch.
"Well, I'm gonna take a bath," I said heading to the bathroom, I turned around to face my brothers again. "You may not come in, understand?" Both boys nodded quickly.
When we were younger, they used to play pranks on me while I showered (Mom frowned upon us taking showers together even as babies). The pranks went from putting bugs in the tub while I wasn't looking to switching my shampoo to substances I would rather not recall. I showered quickly as I was just about ready to sleep and never wake up again. When I stepped outside my restroom I noticed my brothers had also taken a shower and were all ready for bed. It didn't take them long to fall asleep, but like always I just stared at the ceiling for a few minutes before I could actually sleep too. I turned to look out the window, and I could see the moon. Almost full that night. I felt Kaoru hug me and I sighed. "I am not you teddy bear…" I whispered as he mumbled incoherent words back. Kaoru was a sleep talker and Hikaru could not stop moving while he slept. I used to joke and say he pretended to be a dancer when he slept. I turned again so I could lay on my back, and Hikaru took advantage to hug me as well. I closed my eyes and let sleep take me after such a long day. I prayed silently for school to be everything I expected.
