Chapter 8: 'Girl' Talk

When we got to the Host Club I was hoping to find Kaoru there already. While, yes, Hikaru's words still rang in my ears I thought that the only way to confirm my theories was to ask Kaoru. Since he was always with Hikaru he should know what's going on in this so-called Host Club. Last time I checked, relationships at the workplace were a no-no.

"Luna! I am so glad you are here! The customers should be here any minute, so please go start preparing the tea!" Tamaki said as soon as I walked in. I stared at him for a couple of seconds. Was he serious? I was the new manager of this club, since Renge did such a bad job. I do not make tea…

"What am I? Your servant? Geez, I signed up as the manager and hostess of this place to bring in more customers. If you want tea, hire someone to make it for you." With that said I walked to where Kaoru was. "Hey, Kao-chan~" Said boy looked up and nodded at me. Well, wasn't that lovely. A nod. A NOD. I sighed.

"Why don't you listen to Tono and go make some tea? You make the best tea out of all of us," Kaoru spoke in a serious tone, which could only mean he was still upset.

"Because when do I ever listen to that guy? Really, Kao-chan?" I replied sitting down next to him. "You know, I had something to ask you…"

"What is it?" He looked so disinterested it killed me. Kaoru knew how to play the victim perfectly.

"It's about Hikaru."

"Mhm."

I sighed again. This was going to get me nowhere. I looked outside through one of the big windows and deeply considered if I should wait and ask Kaoru once he liked me again.

"Luna, tell me…" I looked at Kaoru who was now staring at me, and I am sure he had been for the past few seconds.

"Fine, I just wanted to know if you knew anything about Hikaru liking…" I mumbled my last few words. What if Kaoru liked her too? This would get more complicated, and I only wanted to confirm my stupid theories. A love triangle turned into a love square-ish? Uh-uh. I was not ready to be in the middle of that.

"Likes who?"

Right, I was asking Kaoru. Should I get out of this by lying, or just tell him the truth? "Like, um… Haru-"

"Haruhi? Yeah, he does," he quickly stated as he turned to look at Hikaru who was happily talking to the only other girl besides me.

"Do you?" I asked making him look back at me. Kaoru smiled as he shook his head. I sighed in relief and let my head rest on his shoulder. He chuckled a bit before petting me in the head.

"Were you that worried, Sis? I mean, I will admit that I liked Haruhi at some point, but I know how much she means to Hikaru. Don't worry, I don't think Hikaru knows he likes her himself, but he will figure it out at some point," Kaoru whispered so only I could hear. This is why he was secretly my favorite. Yes, I love my brothers the same, but if I had to choose to be stuck with one of them for a whole month, I would definitely choose Kaoru. Bickering with Hikaru for a month wasn't something I wanted.

"It's just a relief that this didn't turn into a love square…" I explained quietly as I got up from where I was sitting. Kaoru gave me a questioning look, waiting for me to continue.

"Oh my God, do not tell me you do not think that Tamaki likes Haruhi too?" I whispered to him looking back at Tamaki who was whining to Kyoya about something probably unimportant. "Kaoru, seriously? At least you had to notice something odd about him and his father-daughter 'relationship' with her." Kaoru just stared at me with wide eyes. So he had no idea. Wow. And I thought he was the bright one between them two. "You could have not thought that was normal behavior… that or you are in denial like Hikaru."

"I always thought something was funny about that, but with Tono you never know. He has thought of all of us as family since the Host Club started, so Haruhi being his pretend daughter was just something we expected," Kaoru quickly replied standing next to me.

"You sure know nothing about relationships," I said to him as I walked away to where Honey was. This was going to be a long day at the Host Club.

"I have never been happier to be home!" I yelled as I walked through the front doors of our house. "How do you guys do this every day? Seriously, Tamaki gets more annoying by the minute…" I took off my shoes and jumped to the nearest couch. Now with boy customers in the Host Club things seemed to be getting more hectic than before.

"I guess we are just used to it? He does get out of control sometimes, but that's what Kyoya is for," Kaoru stated as if it was a known fact that Kyoya was Mr. Fix-A-Lot at the Host Club. Poor, poor Kyoya…

I wonder if Kyoya ever gets tired of Tamaki's little antics. I feel like at some point little Kyoya might just explode and throw all the flower and tea receipts at Tamaki's face. The amount of money the club spends on roses is unbelievable.

"Hey, do your teachers ever give homework, or did I just forget to write it down in class?" I asked my brothers to get no reply back. "Guys…" I sat up in the couch and looked around the living room. Where in the world were those two? "Hika-chan… Kao-chan…" I gave one more look around and decided to go up to my room. Once in my room, I realized where my brothers could possibly be… the dining room. My stomach growled once the word 'dining room' came across my mind. I sighed and threw myself on my bed. I had to go down the stairs and eat… after I had come all the way up to my room.

"Why do we have such a huge house?! Why can't we just have an extra nice little house? I don't mind!" I heard a bark coming from the side of my bed. "Hoshi, would you like a smaller house?" Bark. "Me too…" I moved to the side of my bed so I could see Hoshi better. "Should we go eat?" Bark. I sighed. I got up from my bed and carried Hoshi. I started walking downstairs with my dog in my arms, getting Hoshi was definitely the best choice I had made so far. I was still doubting that joining the Host Club was a good idea, and even moving back to Japan seemed iffy. As I start heading to the dining room, I can see my brothers sitting across from each other with plates full of food in front of them. They were waiting for me to eat.

"Geez, Sis! What took you so long? We have been waiting for you so we can start eating!" Hikaru exclaimed pointing at his plate. I laughed as I sat at the head of the table, a perfect view of my brothers.

"Well, I was in the living room having a lovely conversation with myself, went up to my room because I love stairs and then decided I should come stare at you two while you eat," I explained as I laid a cloth napkin on my lap. I stared at my brothers, waiting for them to start eating, and when neither moved I sighed. "What?"

"You aren't serious, right? You can't just watch us eat… Aren't you hungry?" Kaoru said as he grabbed his fork and waited for me to do the same.

"Of course I am not serious! I was talking to both of you and you disappeared! Then, I went upstairs to look for you guys and realized you were here so I laid in my bed for a while because I hate stairs. After a motivational conversation with Hoshi I decided I should come down and eat, so here I am."

"You had a motivational conversation with your dog…" Hikaru said slowly as he cut the piece of meat on his plate.

"Why, of course! Hoshi doesn't leave me talking and actually listens to me when I speak." I looked at Hikaru and then at Kaoru. "Unlike you two…"

"Hey! We listen!" They said in unison. I swear they practice speaking together when I am not with them. We had random conversations over things we did as children, and things I missed while I was gone. That was what we mostly talked about when we were together anyways. My brothers got all excited when they spoke about things they had done in the Host Club, and I could see a sparkle in Hikaru's eyes every time Haruhi was mentioned. Yeah, he was in love alright.

"You guys seem to pull a lot of pranks in the Host Club… How does Tamaki even deal with you two? Adding you guys seems like it only made everything more complicated for him," I said as I played around with the little food I had left in my plate. They fed us too much in this house, I probably gained 5 pounds in the short time that I was there.

"Well, he insisted too much in having us in the Host Club… So if we are a burden, it was his mistake from the beginning," Hikaru explained as if it were obvious. I rolled my eyes at his comment and stood up. "What? Don't tell me that bothered you?"

I laughed as I stretched in my place. Poor Hika-chan, he must think I hate him. "I am not gonna stay in that chair forever, am I really that quick to get upset over things you say?"

"Uhh… yeah?" They both said again in perfect unison. I rolled my eyes again.

"Let's go do something fun! I hate staying home all day when there is so many things to see! This is Japan! History is all around us, and it's calling our names!" My brothers looked at me as if I was insane (which I probably was, but no one needs to know). "Come on, guys. We stay home all day and I read and you guys play video games and it's kinda boring. There must be something we can do… Isn't there new exciting places you guys can take me to?"

My brothers looked at each other, in perfect sync by the way, and then gave me the most evilish grin they could possibly manage. "We actually do! Come let's go get changed," they both said as they dragged me up the stairs. Maybe this was a wrong idea. Oh, well… wasn't this all one big wrong idea?

We stood in front of what looked like apartments. I immediately knew that we were probably in the neighborhood where Haruhi lived. I gave my brothers' an annoying look and sighed.

"This is your idea of exciting new place?" Nod, nod. "I am leaving…" I started to walk off and back into our car, but my brothers decided to grab me from the arms and dragged me to Haruhi's apartment.

"What are you guys doing here?" That voice could only come one person, and I couldn't help to sigh in relief.

"Haruhi, help me…" I gave her a pleading look and she sighed in return.

"Let your sister go, both of you." Haruhi said firmly and my brothers obeyed immediately. If only they listened to me like that. "Luna, would you like to come in?"

"Now that I feel invited, yes I would. Thank you," I replied grabbing her arm as we both walked up the stairs to her apartment.

"You two aren't invited," she hissed under her breath, but they both heard her and started to complain.

"Go home, and leave us alone. This is girl time now! Goodbye, see you at home~" I sang as Haruhi closed her front door in my brothers' noses. "I doubt they'll leave that easy…" I peaked through one of her windows and I could see them sulking their way into the car. I could tell that Kaoru was the one dragging Hikaru away.

"Are they leaving?" Haruhi asked standing behind me.

"Surprisingly, yes… Hikaru is the only one who is insisting to stay, but Kaoru will rub some sense into him. No worries," I answered as I closed the blinds and turned around to face her. I wondered if she knew that Tamaki and Hikaru liked her. I knew from the moment I saw the way they both interacted with her, but sometimes it is harder to know when you are the one being liked.

"So, what do you want to do now? I am not really used to having people over… I am not exactly sure what to do, sorry." Haruhi shrugged with a faint smile. She invited me to sit and prepared some tea for the both of us. I looked around the room. Yes, a small, nice house was better. My eyes focused on the little shrine on the corner of the room. I crawled to it and sat on my knees as I looked at the woman in the picture.

"You look just like her," I mumbled as she walked to the room with two cups in her hands.

"My father says the same thing all the time, specially when I had my long hair." She sat down in the ground and set the cups on the table.

"How old were you?" I asked knowing that such a vague question was enough for Haruhi understand what I meant.

"Young, I was still in elementary school…"

"I am sorry." I looked down at my hands that were resting on my legs. It must have been so hard for Haruhi losing her mom so young.

"Thanks. I'm fine now, so you don't have to worry about me. It has been tough but I've been pretty independent since I was little. Dad always looked out after me, too… in his own way but he's always been there supporting me." She smiled as she sipped on her tea. "Drink up before it gets cold!"

I nodded and started to crawl back to the place I had been sitting. I drank some of my tea as well, and told Haruhi how good it was. We stayed silent for a few seconds before she spoke, "Tell me about your family, I have heard very little from your brothers. I didn't even know you excited until a few days ago."

"Hmm, well there isn't much to say about my family. My mother is a fashion designer and she travels a lot. Even when we moved to Paris, she still travelled and left me alone for weeks. People say we look a lot like her, and that's we get our mischievous side, too." I laughed remembering my crazy, loving mother. Haruhi was smiling and very attentive at everything I was saying, so I kept going. "My father runs a computer software company, and he is rather quiet and keeps to himself. I guess my brothers get their shy nature from him, which is why they had trouble making friends… I guess I am to blame too."

"What do you mean? It's not like you told them not to talk to anyone," she remarked as she got up to get more tea.

"Not necessarily, but we were all very dependent on each other. When I left, I moved on and they remained attached to one another like they were glued at the hip. We were, hmm, five when I left, and it was hard for me to come visit them as often as I would have liked." I took another sip of my tea and waited for Haruhi to say something. When she didn't I assumed she wanted me to go on. "Enough about them, you know them better than me. I also have my grandmother, from my mother's side, and she's eccentric to say the least. She travels a lot, but when she isn't overseas she usually spends her time in our house here, or in Paris when mother and I were there. We have had countless of maids, and we aren't very close to my father's family. I guess that is all there is to say about my family."

"Your family is smaller than I expected… and I don't feel like I know your brothers better than you do. They probably tell you everything, while they usually keep to themselves in the Host Club," Haruhi replied before letting out a sigh.

"I bet they are a handful, I'll try to take them off your back now that I'm here," I said as I let out a laugh. "I promise, next time they bother you I will give them a slap in the head."

"Sounds like a deal to me!" We both laughed, and told more stories about both our families for what seemed like hours. Haruhi was very easy to get along with, and it was a nice change from only interacting with my brothers after school.

"So, Haru-chan… In such a big school as Ouran, is there any boys that have caught your eye?" I asked casually slipping the topic into the conversation, to which Haruhi reacted as if I had asked her if she liked tea. She was definitely hard to read.

"Well, since I am pretending to be a boy there hasn't been a chance for the typical high school romance everyone experiences." She was so wrong. She was in the middle of a love triangle without even knowing it. This had just gotten more complicated.

"But the boys at the Host Club know you're a girl, so what about them?" Haruhi looked at me, and I noticed a faint blush in her cheeks. Bingo.

"U-uh, well… we are more of a fa-family, you know? Ha ha ha haaa…." she laughed it off thinking I would change the subject. No, no, no… I do not let go that easy.

"Even so, they are all very handsome, and they treat you like a princess. It wouldn't be weird for you to fall for one of them." Her blush intensified. "Let's say, Tamaki for example! He is very protective over you, and you guys would make a cute couple~"

"I-I, umm, haaa… Ta-Tamaki-senpai is just a little crazy, ha haa.. A c-couple? That's nonsense!" Haruhi replied as she got up to leave our cups in the kitchen. I could tell she was doing it so I wouldn't see her blush.

"Don't get so flustered, this is just girl talk!" I started to walk behind her, and stood crossing my arms. "You like someone from the Host Club, and I will find out! That, or you'll just let me know yourself."

"I don't like anyone, I promise!" she nervously said as she started to wash the few dishes that were on her sink.

"You can trust me! Come on, Haru-chan! Tell me who do you like?"

"My Haruhi is does NOT like anyone from that Host Club!" I turned around to find a red headed woman… man… person standing behind us. I thought Haruhi's mom had passed.

"Dad, Luna is just kidding… Luna, this is my father, Ranka. Dad, this is Luna, she is Hikaru's and Kaoru's sister. Remember I told you about her?" Haruhi explained as she stood besides me drying her hands with a towel.

"Oh yes! She does look a lot like them like you had said! Amazing that those boys had you so well hidden. You are so cute, there's no question to why they did it. They just wanted you all to themselves!" He said as he extended his hand towards me. I grabbed his handnand shook it still questioning how I should address the man. "It's very nice to meet you, Luna-san."

"I can say the same, Ranka-san. And about what Haruhi and I were talking about, I was kidding. Please don't take it seriously." I gave him the best smile I could and then grabbed onto Haruhi's arm. "I was just teaching Haruhi what girls talk about on girl nights! She is surrounded by boys all day, I thought it would be a good change!" My answer seemed to please the man as he said I was a good influence on his daughter and that I should take her shopping for new clothes sometime. I stayed a little longer, and ate dinner with both of them. When I left, I promised them both I would stay over that Friday so I could take Haruhi shopping. Haruhi's dad was something else, but he was very caring for his daughter, and I could tell that he would do anything to protect her.

Now that I knew Haruhi did like someone from the Host Club, and that 'someone' is more than likely Tamaki… this was just going to be a mess. I am going to help Hikaru, since he is my brother, but if him liking Haruhi is just him being confused with his feelings then I have to guide him to the right path. On my way home I kept thinking on possible ways to fix this whole love triangle ordeal, but the more I thought about it, the more complicated it got. I knew I had to do one thing for sure, and that was to confront Hikaru about his feelings. And, boy was that gonna be hard.
