Baby's First Year
Disclaimer: I do not own Johnny Test.
I've heard from many resources that it's always the first year that's the hardest, and since I myself have never experienced that this may not be the best representation of that, but it's worth a shot.
Enjoy.
2 weeks later
The week long honeymoon was fantastic, and after a week of getting back into the swing of things, they were back on track with taking care of their twins. Sissy awoke that morning, glad that she had the day off, and left hers and Johnny's room and headed towards the kitchen only to hear coughing come from the baby's room. She walked into the room and saw Jacob coughing. Quickly, she went and got dressed, not caring about her hair and just throwing it into a sloppy ponytail, before running back into the room, dressing Jacob and Jennifer before calling Johnny, grateful that it was Saturday.
"Hello?" Johnny answered.
"Johnny, I need the car. Jacob is coughing a lot." Sissy said.
"I'll be right there." Johnny replied before hanging up. Five minutes later, Sissy heard an all too familiar car horn honking and walked down the stairs as fast as she could, buckled the babies into the car and they took off. They rushed into the office and signed in; waiting as patiently as they could Sissy checked Jacob's temperature, he felt warm even to her.
"Jacob Test." the assistant called. It had been fifteen minutes, and Sissy was just glad that they got in. After some initial questions the pediatrician walked in and began the basic rundown of finding out what his problem was.
"Well, it appears that your son had caught the cold. Do his sister and him share a room?" the doctor asked as he listened to Jacobs pulse.
"Yes." Sissy replied.
"What about a crib?" he asked.
"No, their cribs are on opposite ends of the room." Sissy said.
"That's probably why your daughter is fine. I'll give you a prescription for his cold so he can kick this before it gets worse, what with winter right around the corner. Misses Test, you may want to stay home from work this week to take care of him." the pediatrician said as he wrote up the prescription.
"I'll let my boss know. We've had to live off of one source of income before; a week won't be too awful." Sissy said.
"Alright, take care now, and call me in a week to let me know how he is." The man said.
"Will do doctor Eckles." Sissy said as they left the office and went to the pharmacy down the street. As soon as they got the medicine Johnny drove them back to their apartment and dropped them off.
"You know I would love to help, but Larry might just gut me if I don't get back soon, with it being one of the busiest…"Johnny started but was stopped by Sissy kissing him.
"I understand, just thank you for getting us there." Sissy said once she broke the kiss and started up the stairs. Johnny waited until she got inside before driving back to work.
"Sorry about that, my son was sick." Johnny said as he walked by Larry's office.
"Will that be the only issue?" Larry asked, not looking away from his computer screen.
"Never know, but as far as major issues that would require me to leave, yes currently." Johnny replied.
"Alright then, we best get back to work to meet the quota today." Larry said.
"Will do." Johnny said with a sigh.

"So, he's fine now…yeah, took the medicine really well save a few spit ups…yeah, his sister is also doing well…ok, just thought I'd call and let you know…you too, bye." Sissy said as she held her son on her lap while her daughter played in the pen. Sissy was glad that Johnny was doing well in school and that she would be able to go back to work soon now that Jacob was feeling better. She did like staying home and being with the twins, but they needed the money to be able to support the twins. A knock sounded at the door.
"Coming!" Sissy called as she got up, placed her son in the pen with his sister, and walked to the door.
"Beth? Renee? What are you guys doing here, I thought you had classes?" Sissy said confused as she opened the door.
"We have the same last class, and it was cancelled today, so we thought we'd come by and see you." Renee giggled.
"Oh, well, come in then." Sissy chirped allowing her friends in.
"I don't think I've been to your apartment yet. Pretty nice place you have here." Renee chuckled as she looked around.
"Thanks." Sissy said as they took a seat on the couch.
"So how's motherhood treating you?" Beth asked.
"Well, Jacob just got over a cold, but other than that, typical five hour nights with fitful naps and then working eight or so hours." Sissy said.
"So it's tiring?" Renee asked.
"In short, yes." Sissy said.
"Kind of wishing you were on the pill?" Beth asked.
"No. Even though I'm tired and feel like a ton of bricks are dropped on me every morning, I would not wish them gone." Sissy said with a dignity in her tone.
"Easy mama bear." Beth giggled.
"Sorry." Sissy replied before Jennifer began to fuss in her pen. Sissy leaned over and picked her up, only for Jacob to want up. Again, Sissy retrieved her child and was holding both of them.
"So, you guys eager for winter break?" Sissy asked.
"You have no idea." Both sighed.
"Oh, I think I have a clue, Johnny doesn't stop growling about the homework." Sissy said with a giggle. After another hour or so of visiting Beth and Renee decided it was time to go.
"In case we don't see you for a while, Merry Christmas." Beth chuckled.
"Thanks, you too." Sissy said with a smile as the two walked out into the snowy afternoon.
Christmas
Walking into the Test home, Sissy could not help but smile at the sight that filled the room. It was early afternoon and they had already had their Christmas at home with Jacob and Jennifer and were now paying the other part of their family a visit. Sissy parents were there as well.
"My goodness they have grown since I last saw them." her mother chuckled. Jacob and Jennifer were only seven months old and were already trying to sit up and accomplishing the task for good few minutes. Soon enough everyone was around the tree passing out presents.
"I guess it's true, grandparents spoil their grand-kids." Sissy laughed at the size of the stack of present from both her parents and Johnny's parents to the twins. The twins had learned that morning how to open the presents and began to tear into them, giggling at the sound the paper made under their little fingers. After all the present were open they went to the kitchen where dinner was, and thankfully, it wasn't meatloaf.
"I'm surprised dad, no meatloaf." Johnny chuckled.
"Well, I wanted to try something new and decided ham would be more tradition." Hugh chuckled to his son. Throughout the meal either Sissy or Johnny would give a small bit of food to the twins, cut up and soft for them.
"It appears that Jennifer likes ham." Lila chuckled.
"And that Jacob likes asparagus." Hugh said with a smile.
"It would seem so. They're probably hungry, so excuse me for a moment." Sissy said as she stood and retrieved both babies and went to the living room.
"So how's life treating you son?" Hugh asked.
"I'm glad I have winter break." Johnny said.
"Might I ask why?" Sissy's dad asked.
"I get more time to work and help out with the twins. I know she does her best, but there's only so much she can do." Johnny said.
"Good answer." Her father chuckled. Sissy returned, placed the twins back in the high chairs they were in and resumed eating.
"So, I have a little announcement to make." Mary said with a smile. Everyone looked to her in curiosity.
"I'm expecting." Mary said with a smile. Everyone smiled and congratulated them.
"So how far along?" Sissy asked once everyone calmed down.
"About six weeks." Mary said with a smile. Sissy smiled and once dinner was done Jennifer and Jacob began to grow sleepy.
"Looks like the twins are tired. Best be on our way, or they will throw a fit." Sissy said as she buckled them into their carriers. Johnny grabbed as much of the presents as possible and took them out to the car, coming for two more loads before returning.
"Car's ready." Johnny said.
"It was nice seeing you two again and the twins of course. Let me know if you'll need a baby sitter." Both sets of parents said. After all the hugs and goodbyes they got out the door and headed home. Sissy looked back to see Jennifer already asleep and Jacob's eyes starting to droop.
"That was a fun get together." Sissy said as they unloaded the car.
"Yeah, sometimes I do miss being there, but I have my own family now and my own life, and that's a gift in and of itself." Johnny said with a smile. Sissy smiled back to him as she carried up the twins with him following with the presents.
"We'll organize those tomorrow; they're tired and already crashed." Sissy said once Johnny got the last few things into the apartment.
"Good idea." Johnny chuckled as Sissy tucked them into bed.
"Merry Christmas both of you, sleep well." Sissy whispered as she kissed them each on their foreheads before she and Johnny headed off to bed.
New Year's Day
Fireworks went off everywhere, lighting up the sky and making thunderclaps as they sparkled in the air, and while everyone else stared in awe and wonder, Johnny and Sissy were mentally cursing the fireworks for waking up the twins and scaring them. Once the fireworks stopped the twins calmed down and soon fell back asleep.
"We should've expected that." Sissy said as she went back to bed.
"Yeah, but now we've learned." Johnny yawned.
"Yup. Night." Sissy said lying down and falling asleep.
"Night." Johnny replied before following Sissy's lead.
Spring Break
Johnny was glad that he had gotten most of the hard classes out of the way and had managed to balance sports along with everything else and could now take some easier classes for spring quarter. But first he got to enjoy a week of just home and work with his family.
"The twin's birthday is coming up." Johnny said as they sat in their living room watching the television as the twins played in their pen.
"I know Johnny." Sissy replied, looking up from them to him.
"Any idea as to who we are inviting?" Johnny asked.
"Friends, family, you know." Sissy replied.
"Any ideas as to what they should get?" Johnny asked.
"More clothes and maybe some toys, a walker maybe." Sissy said.
"Good ideas." Johnny replied.
"Bored?" Sissy giggled.
"Yeah, I'm not used to having three days off." Johnny said with a stretch.
"How about we take the kids to the park?" Sissy said. Johnny smiled and soon enough they were out the door and in the car, the strollers in the trunk. The air was still crisp since it was April, so a jacket for the twins was necessary. They got to one of the biggest parks in Porkbelly and got the twins strapped into their strollers before walking around the park, listening to the giggles the little ones made the entire way. Upon reaching the playground they saw that the two baby swings were open and darted over there, making sure the seats dry and then set the twins in each seat before starting a gentle swing. Jennifer smiled each time she went up and Jacob seemed to bounce each time. As they played with their kids, Johnny and Sissy were unaware that someone was watching them.
"Look at them, playing like one big old happy family." Bumper growled.
"Especially Test." One of his goons hissed.
"I heard he and Sissy finally got hitched." Another scoffed. Bumper groaned and stood from his spot, stomping over.
"Hey Test!" Bumper yelled. Johnny turned and ducked, glad that he had pushed the swing that his daughter was in just a few moments ago away from him. Bumper wound up for another one when he suddenly was pulled down forcibly by the ear. Looking up he saw Sissy giving him the look.
"I understand that you have a beef with my husband, and I understand that you want to attempt – and fail – to beat the living shit out of him, but the moment you put our children in danger, that's when I step in and let me tell you, I will not, in the slightest, hesitate to castrate you and let you bleed if you so much as touch my son or daughter. You got that?" Sissy snarled in an almost feral tone. Bumper cringed before managing to escape her death hold on his ear and walk a few steps back. Bumper looked to Johnny, thinking he might have some luck in trying to fight but there was murder in his eyes.
"You almost punched my ten month old daughter you psycho, go ahead, pick a fight." Johnny growled. Bumper backed away, knowing that he would lose if he went up against Test after nearly hurting his kid. Sure, it would have been a partial accident, but to a parent, it doesn't matter, you hurt their kid, they'll make you wish you hadn't been born.
"You're just gonna back away like that?" one of them asked.
"His wife invoked the wrath of god into me, and Test only enforced it. I'm not about to take on a pissed off father." Bumper said.
"What? Why?" the other asked confused.
"He has a son and daughter that he and his wife would do anything for, and if I had hit her, I might be in the hospital, if lucky, considering what they went through the week prior to the birth of those two." Bumper said. The others nodded, finally getting what he was trying to say.
"Besides, I just want to fight him to get out this anger I have for him scoring the hottest chick in school as his wife and the mother of his children, I would gain nothing from it, she would still be married to him and they would go about their day with their kids like nothing happened." Bumper said in sudden realization.
"Some people never learn." Sissy said as they group of men walked away.
"No. By the way, I think you scared two years off his lifespan." Johnny chuckled.
"Mother-bear syndrome." Sissy chided.
"I know." Johnny chuckled as they got their kids out of the swings, back in their strollers and continued on, like nothing had happened, because nothing really had.
May 4th, Saturday
The party was at noon and already it was nine. Johnny had started on the decorations while Sissy worked on the two little cakes for the twins and the bigger cake for the adults. The presents from them had been wrapped last night so they would have time for the other things in the morning. As the cakes cooked Sissy mixed up the frosting for the cakes. Sissy knew that once the cakes were done they would need to cool before putting on the frosting. Looking at the clock she saw it was nine thirty and the larger cake still had fifteen minutes to cook.
"Ok, little ones in the fridge to cool. Hey Johnny, how are the decorations going?" Sissy asked.
"It would be much easier if Jennifer didn't play with the streamers." Johnny chuckled. They didn't hire a clown, not feeling like scaring their kids on their first birthday.
"Sorry, you know how she gets." Sissy giggled.
"Keep laughing." Johnny chuckled. Hours seemed to fly by and soon enough it was almost time; Sissy was finishing up the cakes while Johnny smiled at the decorations. A knock sounded at the door which was soon followed by a mob of friends and family with gifts of every shape and size. Sissy was glad that she had gotten a camera for Christmas because she was taking as many photos as she could. They played a few games and soon enough it was time for the cake.
"I'll take the camera, and take a picture of all of you." Sissy's mother said with a smile.
"Thanks mom." Sissy said as she went over and lit the candles making both Jacob and Jennifer stare in wonder.
"Ok everyone…Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday Jacob and Jennifer, happy birthday to you!" everyone sang as Sissy and Johnny showed them what to do. Jacob and Jennifer followed their parent's example and blew out the candle, clapping when everyone else did because everyone else was doing it. Johnny cut the larger cake while Sissy split the two little cakes into small pieces so they could eat it.
"Jacob has chocolate cake in his hair." Lila giggled.
"Oh, look at Jennifer's messy little face." Sissy's mother sighed. Needless to say, Sissy was taking pictures. Jennifer picked up her piece of cake and somehow remembering her parents wedding day smashed the small piece on her brother's face; Jacob looked at his sister oddly and repeated the action to her. Sissy was lucky she was keeping the camera steady with all her laughter.
"Ok, now that everyone is done with their cake, we'll go clean these two up before the presents." Sissy said as she and Johnny grabbed them both and took them to their room, stripping them down and washing them before changing both their clothes and diaper. Jennifer giggled as her face was washed while Jacob squirmed. Once they were clean and ready they were taken back into the living room where they opened their presents.
"Hmm…someone took the hint that they were growing out of their clothes." Sissy said sarcastically as the first three presents from both Mary and Susan were clothes, followed by Gil and Tony with clothes as well. Sissy's mom brought more diapers and walkers along with a few stuffed animals, and ending with Lila and Hugh giving them a few other toys. The families stayed around for a while, talking, laughing, and playing with the twins and everyone else until they decided it was time to go after helping take down the decorations.
"Thanks guys." Sissy and Johnny said.
"No problem, you two are doing great." Both sets of parents said.
"Thanks." Sissy and Johnny replied before hugging their parents and Johnny's siblings in final departure. Walking back into the living room they saw both Jacob and Jennifer crashed out on the couch with a stuffed animal in their arms.
"Look at them, they're exhausted." Sissy cooed.
"Let's enjoy this while it lasts and get them to bed, because one day they'll be begging to stay up later." Johnny chuckled as he picked up his sleeping daughter who did not stir.
"No kidding." Sissy said picking up their equally tired son. Setting them in their cribs after carefully changing them they kissed them each.
"Happy birthday Jacob and Jennifer, we love you." They both said before leaving the room and going to their own bed for the night, deciding to follow their children's lead.
Fluffy and realistic-ish. Ok, so next week is a single update and then the following week will be the last chapter. R&R please and thank you.
