Five Years Already?
Disclaimer: I do not own Johnny Test
I've heard from multiple parents, mine included, that kids just grow up so fast. So I tried my best to express a parent's feeling about their children starting kindergarten, I know that my mom cried on that day, I think almost every mom does.
Anyway, I'm rambling. Hope you like the story.
Enjoy!
4 years later, June
"Mom, when are we gonna leave?" Jacob said as he ran through the nearly empty apartment.
"Once we get everything packed up. Help your father with the DVDs." Sissy replied.
"Jenny is doing that." Jacob said with a sad tone.
"Oh, have you made sure everything of yours is packed up?" Sissy asked, looking up from her box.
"Yeah, three times." Jacob said.
"Ok, that's the last thing." Johnny said walking into the kitchen.
"Yay! Can we go now?" Jacob said.
"Dad has to get the boxes in the truck first." Jennifer said. Jacob scowled at his sister as they followed their parents out the door, doing a final sweep to make sure they did get everything, and then walked out the apartment and down the stairs.
"We get a house! We get a house!" the twins chanted as they rode with their mom in the car and Johnny drove the truck.
"We start school this year!" Jennifer giggled from the back.
"Yeah!" Jacob laughed along with his sister. They pulled up to the house and they saw Gil, Tony, Hugh, and Jason standing there waiting.
"Why are they here?" Jacob asked.
"Remember, they helped your dad pack everything into the truck." Sissy said.
"Yeah dummy, dad can't do it all by himself." Jennifer said.
"Don't call me a dummy!" Jacob shouted as he slugged his sister on the arm. Sissy got out of the car and went around to Jacob's side.
"Hey, both of you knock it off, or you will get a swat on the butt." Sissy said making both of them stop. Yes, she had spanked them twice, three times in Jacob's case, for misbehavior, but only if she couldn't put them in the corner or if they weren't behaving after the corner. Usually, it would only take for the threat of a spanking or the corner to get them to straighten up, but there were those times when she had to go through with her threat. They got out of the car and grabbed the small boxes and carried them to the front of the house.
The house was a four bedroom two bathroom house, it had two floors, a large living room and a medium sized kitchen, and it was a light green color with white trim and dark green roof. Both front and back yard were fenced and they already paid to have both Dukey and Missy live with them. They weren't renting the house; they were buying it since the market prices had gone down. They were also only three blocks away from the elementary school, seven blocks from the middle school, and just a little over a mile away from the high school.
"What's going upstairs?" Hugh asked.
"The kids' stuff. There are two rooms upstairs, so they can have the upstairs." Johnny said as they started to grab the furniture for the kid's rooms.
4 hours later
"Ok, everything is now in the house." Jason said, stretching a little and wincing.
"Dad, you sure you're going to be ok to drive?" Sissy asked.
"I'll be fine. This is a nice neighborhood, and you're a little closer to where we and the Tests are." Jason chuckled at his worried daughter.
"And us too bro." Gil chuckled with Tony nodding.
"Anyway, thanks for helping us guys, I'll take the truck back tomorrow." Johnny said as he rubbed his shoulders.
"No problem man, anyway, we need to get back home. Aston and Benji are crazy little kids." Tony said referring to his twins.
"Compared to your sons, my daughter is an angel." Gil said. He and Susan had gotten lucky and only had one.
"Ah yes, the terrible twos, been there, done that." Johnny laughed looking to his two kids.
"Ok son, we'll leave you to your unpacking." Hugh said.
"Hey dad." Johnny said. Hugh turned around to his son.
"Thanks, this would've taken forever." Johnny said with a sincere smile.
"Anytime son." Hugh said.
"Jacob, Jennifer, go hug your grandpa's and uncles goodbye." Sissy said. Both kids jumped up and ran over and hugged their relatives before they left.
"Dad, we don't have any beds." Jennifer said.
"Mom and I don't either; guess we're sleeping in the living room on the floor." Johnny said with a stretch.
"What's for dinner?" Jacob asked.
"I just called for pizza, should be here soon." Sissy said as she walked over and sat down with her family. Once the pizza arrived they all started to eat.
"So how's work been?" Johnny asked. He was now manager of three video game shops in the area, and Sissy was a paralegal clerk.
"Same as always, though I do get to watch a trial tomorrow." Sissy said with a glimmer of excitement.
"What kind of trial?" Johnny asked as he took a bite of pizza.
"Murder trial." Sissy said quietly.
"Sounds interesting, if you want, you can fill me in tomorrow." Johnny said, placing his hand on hers.
"Mommy, what's wrong?" Jacob asked.
"It's going to be interesting to watch, but the case is…well…scary." Sissy said.
"Why?" Jennifer asked.
"Well, this guy started his killing spree back when you were two, and he liked to kill kids your age. Mommy and daddy were scared that he would come after you because he didn't seem to care what they looked like, so it's just gonna be hard for me." Sissy said.
"Oh, ok." Both said before hugging their mom.
"Is he gonna go to jail forever?" Jacob asked.
"Tomorrow's trial will determine that." Sissy said. After a little while longer of eating and talking about happier things Johnny went around and locked up the house before grabbing the blankets and pillows and soon settled down in bed, the twins falling asleep the moment their heads hit the pillows between their parents.
"Don't you sometimes just envy kids and their ability to not have any worry in the world?" Johnny asked.
"Yeah. They have that ability to help their parents forget about their own worries too." Sissy said with a smile.
"Yeah, which can be a relief." Johnny chuckled.
"They start school this year." Sissy said getting misty eyed.
"Damn, already?" Johnny said, running his hand through his hair.
"Yeah, we need to go get them registered tomorrow during our lunch." Sissy said her voice cracking.
"Hun, it'll be ok." Johnny said.
"I guess I know why parents take so many pictures of their kids, so they can watch them grow up again." Sissy sighed as she lay down.
"Yeah." Johnny said also lying down and soon they too were asleep.
July
The fourth had been eventful with the fireworks and all the celebrating, but as it came closer to a close the twins wanted to go do school supplies shopping.
"Jennifer, Jacob, we should be receiving the list for you guys any day now." Sissy said to the over eager twins.
"Can we go get clothes?" Jennifer asked.
"Ew! Clothes shopping! No, I want to get a backpack!" Jacob growled.
"Clothes." Jennifer hissed.
"Backpack." Jacob growled; they continued this pattern until Johnny intervened.
"Listen, you both need new clothes and a backpack." Johnny said sternly, making them calm down.
"We'll go tomorrow, promise." Sissy said. They nodded and then went off to their rooms to play.
"Sometimes they can get on my nerves." Sissy said with a sigh.
"Likewise, but they're our kids." Johnny chuckled.
"And I love them just the same." Sissy laughed before she started on lunch.
The Next day
Johnny and Sissy had kept their word and were at the store shopping with Jacob and Jennifer for school clothes and a backpack. Even though both children whined that they wanted to shop with only one parent – Jennifer with Sissy and Jacob with Johnny – their parents kept them together to not only save time, but to maintain the money.
"But why?" Jennifer whined.
"Because, as much as I love your father, he's not very good at money management." Sissy said, getting half serious glare from Johnny.
"Dad, why do we have to stay with the girls?" Jacob whined.
"Because your mother has the money." Johnny replied.
"And so that you don't choose a bunch of mismatched clothing like last year." Sissy snickered, earning a pout from Jacob and a smirk from Johnny. After a few hours of them going and finding the right clothes and eventually hunting down a backpack that they would like they headed home, smiling.
"I can't wait for school." Jennifer said with a smile.
"It's not all games you know." Johnny replied.
"I know, but I get to meet new kids and make friends." Jennifer said.
"And play more." Jacob added. Johnny and Sissy nodded, just letting them believe what they wanted, knowing that they were the kind of kids that needed to see things for themselves.
August
Sissy and Johnny found themselves again at the store, school supplies list in hand and two hyper kids tugging on their hands as they pulled them towards the aisles. Sissy smiled, remembering when she was this eager to get school supplies, while Johnny snickered at the hell he put his parents through not to go to the store for school supplies.
"I want this one." Jennifer said, holding up a pink pencil box.
"I want this." Jacob said as he held up a black and blue pencil box. They continued this pattern and their parents decided the most affordable ones, sometimes agreeing, sometimes not, with the twins. As they paid for the supplies up at the front the twins giggled happily.
"We get to go to school!" They chanted as they ran around their parent's legs before Johnny reached down and scooped them both up.
"What did your mother and I say about running around our feet?" Johnny asked in a stern tone.
"Sorry daddy, but we're just so happy." Jennifer said with an adorable smile.
"Yeah." Jacob snickered.
"If I set you down will you stop running around our legs?" Johnny asked, earning nods from them. They left the, the twins still chanting their mantra, giggling the whole time on the way home.
September 5th
Jennifer and Jacob were giddy. It was their first day of school and they were practically bouncing at the table.
"Do I even need to ask, but, are you excited?" Johnny chuckled at the table.
"Yes!" Both twins exclaimed as they ate their waffles. Sissy and Johnny weren't as excited, these were their babies after all and it just seemed that they were growing up faster than they knew possible. Once they finished eating they ran up to their rooms and changed for the day, brushed their teeth and hair and soon had their backpacks on and were waiting at the door for their parents.
"Mom! Dad!" They both said impatiently.
"We're coming." Sissy said as she walked out of hers and Johnny's room, Johnny right behind her. Grabbing their coats before locking the door and walking out of the house, each child holding their parents hands as they walked the short distance to the school. Somehow, seeing the school and all the other kids, some older and some their age, made the twins nervous as they gripped their parents hands tighter.
"Getting scared now huh?" Sissy said kindly to her daughter.
"Yeah, a little." Jennifer said.
"Jacob?" Johnny asked.
"I'm not scared of nothing!" Jacob said. They walked with them to the class room.
"Hello, I'm Miss Gull, and these two are?" a kinder older woman asked with a sweet smile.
"Jacob and Jennifer Test." Sissy said.
"Charming little children. Well, Mister and Misses Test, school ends at noon, will you or their grandparents be picking them up?" Miss Gull asked.
"I will, I have a two hour break." Sissy said.
"Alright then, see you then." Miss Gull said before walking away.
"Now you two behave." Sissy said, pulling them into a hug, receiving a shameless hug back.
"And no causing the teacher any problems." Johnny said, also giving them a hug.
"We know." They both said before going over and finding their seats while Johnny and Sissy walked out, tears starting to pool in Sissy's eyes.
"Now I know why my parents cried on my first day of school." Sissy said her voice choking.
"No kidding." Johnny chuckled, though it was strained. They started their walk back home, Sissy managing to keep her tears down until getting home.
"They'll be ok." Johnny chuckled, pulling her close to him.
"You can say that a million times, but it won't help." Sissy sniffled.
"I know." Johnny said, kissing her temple softly.
Noon
Sissy had left work early, glad now that she had purchased a car before the twins had started school. She pulled up to the school to see both of them walking outside, giggling with a few of their friends they had made. Sissy got out of the car and soon as she did they waved to their friends and scampered over to their mother as fast as their little legs could go.
"How was school?" Sissy asked, hugging them.
"Fun." Both giggled before they hopped into the car and told Sissy every little detail of their first day, and Sissy of course listened, all the way home and to the kitchen as she made them lunch.
"Sounds like you were busy." Sissy laughed as she gave them their lunches.
"Yeah." Jennifer giggled.
"We had lots of fun." Jacob laughed.
"Mama, why do you look sad?" Jennifer asked.
"Because you're growing up so fast baby, because you're growing up so fast." Sissy said, kissing them each on their foreheads before fixing herself lunch. Both Jacob and Jennifer looked to each other, shrugged, and then continued eating, excited for tomorrow.
Ok, a very fluffy and emotional chapter. I hope I did a good enough job with the parents emotions about their kids leaving for school, growing up, and the kid's cluelessness about that. Ok, next week is the last chapter. I will give everyone my thanks and appreciation then. R&R please and thank you.
