A/N Well, I'm finally updating. By the way, here's small announcement that probably none of you care about whatsoever, since we're on chapter 41 now. Anyway, I'm going to go back and fix all of the grammar errors of past chapters. Like I said, that doesn't directly affect any of you. However, it'll refresh my memory more of some of the smaller details I didn't get when I skimmed over the story. Plus, it may increase my writing skills. It won't affect the time it takes me to update though, so don't worry about that. Speaking of which, I'll probably update every three days or so.
Disclaimer: I don't own Phineas and Ferb.
Enjoy!
The hooded figure ran down the hallway towards the girl who seemed to be trying to hide, not that she was doing much of a good job. He quietly muttered to himself, "You really need to be more careful, Princess." As he was hurriedly making his way to her, he shuddered as he remembered how he got to where he was.
After Ferb had run away from Sam, he bumped right into two burly looking men, probably in their thirties, Ferb noted. The larger of the two grunted and turned to yell at him, only to see a blur of green sprinting away. The man shook it off, figuring it was some new recruit. The smaller man turned to see him, and he punched his companion lightly on the arm.
"You moron! That's one of the captured traitors!" he shouted at him while running towards Ferb.
The other seemed a bit offended, but followed nonetheless. He finally caught up to his slightly smaller counterpart, as Ferb quickly ran down a hallway. He turned back to see no one behind him yet and ducked into what he hoped would be an empty room.
The men turned down the hallway, only to not be able to find Ferb anywhere. They split up without a word to continue looking. One of them ran down the hallway into another, while the other man quickly checked every room. While he was checking another room, Ferb ran off into the original hallway.
Ferb, deciding to run back to where he had been separated from Phineas and Isabella, quickly retraced his steps back. As he was going back, he found a short figure. He quickly and silently turned to get away, but then he realized this girl was Isabella.
Isabella was quietly walking down the hallway, poking her head in every few doors, trying to find Ferb. How she would love to see Samuel and give him a piece of her mind… and her fist… and her sword. "No," she thought, "I shouldn't. I need to be completely focused on meeting with Phineas and Ferb again and then getting as far away from here as possible. I shouldn't let my feelings get in the way."
As she was ducking behind a door she heard voices from, she suddenly felt someone grab her, put his hand around her mouth, and pull her away. Isabella wanted to scream, but she knew it was no use. He was covering her mouth, and besides, all she'd do is attract yet more assassins.
She was trying to turn around desperately; she at least wanted to see the man who may just end her life. "Phineas!" she thought. She couldn't leave him behind her. She just couldn't. She knew she had to do anything she could to get away and find him again.
She quickly bit down on her captor's hand as hard as she could and kicked him backwards. He flew back into the wall, rubbing his hand slightly.
Isabella turned around, already unsheathing her sword, only to gasp loudly and quickly apologize. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry, Ferb. I had no idea-"
"No, that's fine. Honestly, I expected you to do something."
She nodded thoughtfully. "Yeah. He couldn't have exactly expected me to just allow myself be captured, especially since I thought he was an assassin."
Ferb looked at her questioningly, finally fully realizing that Phineas was not with her.
Isabella looked at him with a confused look. "What- Oh!" Isabella finally responded quietly, remembering where she was. "Phineas and I decided it'd be best to split up to look for you."
Although Ferb wasn't exactly keen about the idea of splitting up in situations like these, he was glad they did. He nodded. "So, where is he?"
Isabella looked at him, almost forgetting her and Phineas's plan. "Oh. We're meeting back at the room we split up in. We were supposed to meet an hour after- but how long has it been? Ferb, we should probably hurry. I'm sure it's been more than an hour."
He nodded slowly and ran with her. Luckily, they were fairly close to their destination.
Isabella sighed contently when they arrived and saw Phineas… and Samuel? "Why is Sam here? What did he say to Phineas? Surely he wasn't too stupid to let Sam come back with us!"
"Isabella! You're safe! I was so worried!" Phineas exclaimed as he ran to her, trying to hug her. Isabella happily complied, until she remembered her concerns.
"Phineas," she began, "why is Sam with you?" she angrily asked, exiting Phineas's loving embrace.
"Wha- oh. Isabella, I know what you're thinking. He begged me to let him come with. I took all of his weapons and the second he does anything, I will personally take care of it. I promise," he said sweetly, grabbing Isabella's hand in his ow n.
Isabella began to smile back, but stopped herself as she crossed her arms before Phineas could reach her own hand. "I still don't trust him."
Phineas didn't seem to surprised seeing as he saw this coming. "You trust me, right?"
Isabella sighed, knowing where he was going with this. She had to be honest with this, unless she wanted to start this fight again. The last time she questioned his honesty towards her, they hadn't spoken for days. "Of course I do," she finally said, partially in defeat.
"Okay," he started, "then trust me when I say, I will not let him do anything to you, Ferb, or me for as long as I'm here. Okay?"
Isabella wanted to reject that and firmly send Sam away, but the second she looked into his eyes, she changed. She saw what looked like desperation in his eyes. "He always is optimistic, isn't he? And he gives people the benefit of the doubt. No matter what." "Okay," she said, surprising even herself.
Ferb just simply looked at Sam, as if to tell him he better not step out of line. Ferb always was better with actions than he was with words. However, Phineas had noticed he was talking more now as an adult that he had a child back in the orphanage.
Phineas grabbed Isabella's hand, and the rest of them assembled together as they began to make their way out.
Phineas couldn't help but think, "Let them come for us, we'll be ready." For if they could take down the leader together, they could escape together. He looked at Isabella, whom was looking hopeful, and smiled a bit at her. Isabella noticed out of the corner of her eye, and she squeezed his hand back as a reply.
A/N Well, I finally posted the real chapter 41. I've been working on it for past few hours, and I think it's okay. Not the best chapter, but at least I've finally come to a close with the whole "they're in the assassin's hideout even though they've kind of escaped already" theme.
On another note, 1,107 words!
Also, please review telling me what you thought. Whenever I get a new review, it gives me motivation to update again. Thanks, guys.
