A/N Hey again. … Please review, I guess. It means a lot, it gives me motivation, blah, blah, blah. You guys probably read that in every single Fanfiction you read. Anyway…

Oh, by the way, you've all probably noticed that I always call Isabella's father the "Old King." Yeah, we're all going to pretend that's what the citizens call the former kings. (I really just don't want to make up a name and I don't know what the normal name for him is.)

Also, I'll be returning to the action theme in either this chapter or next, but hopefully this one.

Disclaimer: I don't own any TV show, movie, book series, game, etc. That includes Phineas and Ferb

"Old King Imprisoned"

King Baljeet recently released to the public a document formerly in the Old King's procession. It consisted of a plot to kill King Baljeet and Queen Ginger. To put it simply, he was going to use a rope to suffocate them in their sleep; then he was to take back the crown and become king again since there are no suitable heirs as of now, due to the former princess's betrayal to the kingdom mentioned in our last issue.

Queen Ginger discovered this file quite recently and hastily told her husband about it, more concerned for his safety than her own. King Baljeet quickly responded by imprisoning the Old King in the dungeons himself. The Old King will stand trial at the end of next month, and all of the kingdom's people are welcome to attend court.

One guard recently wrote to us about the matter. He said in his letter, "Though he still denies writing up that horrendous plot, it's fairly obvious he did. I'm just confused about why he'd leave something like that laying around. Guess he always was a bit of a fool. And I don't mean to disrespect the Old King, but the current one's safety comes first." This guard has to preside over the Old King every day and, apparently, listen to his pleas of help. He also apparently mumbles something about "her being right," but no one quite knows what that means. Also, according to anonymous sources, he refuses to talk to anyone about the situation, with the exception of his claim that he didn't do it.

We don't generally take sides, but this one seems pretty clear-cut, even to us. We just hope he gets a fair trial and doesn't get off because of his still partially effective power.

Isabella's hands trembled as she dropped the paper and turned away from her friends. "Thanks, Ferb, for getting that for me," she said, trying to smile a bit.

He nodded in response, leaving Phineas a bit confused until he finally picked up the paper and read it himself. He smiled sadly at her, hoping to be of some help. "At least he realizes you were right," Phineas muttered to her.

Isabella looked at him, few tears forming in her eyes, and nodded. "I just- I didn't want him to find out like this. I wanted to-to tell him myself. Finally, just to be able to convince him of something. T-to make him proud of me," she said, barely above a whisper.

"I know. But things always turn out better in the end," he said, lifting her chin up so her face looked to his. He also tried to smile a bit, but even he was a bit sad. It all seemed so extreme. First, King Baljeet tried to assassinate Isabella, and then he even made her look like a traitor to her own people. But now, to top it off, he imprisoned the Old King and for no reason at all really. It was almost like he was trying to flaunt it in her face, the power he held. It was almost as if he was trying to challenge her, saying "Yeah, I put your father in jail. What're you going to do about it?" And even though her father wasn't necessarily the best at parenting her, he certainly didn't deserve a fate like this, imprisoned just to make a horrible point.

Isabella turned away and swallowed her sadness. She cleared her throat. "Well, are we just going to stand here or are we going to do something about it?"

Phineas looked to Ferb and grinned. "There she is," he thought happily. He nodded happily, and the trio set off. They set off to their final destination, the capital of the entire kingdom. They set off right to see Baljeet.

They traversed all the way to the next city, where they almost had a problem. There had been a few wanted posters up with their pictures on them. They didn't even want to see what they were worth now, they all thought. They ripped the papers down and continued on their ways. Not too much happened in that area though. It was rather plain in appearance, Isabella noticed.

The streets were lined with different kinds of stores and markets, most of which seemed fairly full. Further down the road, they came across a neighborhood full of houses. There were people nearly everywhere: on the street, in the yards, etc.

Ferb gulped a bit, as did the others. They really did not wish to pass so many people. It was dangerous, in a sense. It only took one person to recognize them. All that one person would have to do is report them to a guard. Then the whole city is after them, and all because of that one measly person.

Luckily though, no one seemed to outwardly expect them as being the runaway assassins and the old princess. There was, however, one guard who seemed a bit suspicious, but was distracted by his friend who sat by him and began speaking about something. Nothing happened since then, so they felt a bit of relief.

It was nice, they thought, to not be on the run from someone, whether the kingdom officials or the assassins. They were just… living. Enjoying themselves, in a sense.

When they reached a new village, night fell, and the decided it was time to get some rest. They exchanged some glances and finally chose to get to the nearest inn. Once they finally found one, the immediately ran in the room to get some rest, as they were all rather tired. To put it shortly, Phineas and Isabella woke up in a similar matter from the morning before, smiling in each other's embraces.

"Well, today's the day," Phineas whispered to Isabella. A pause. "Are you ready?"

She backed up a bit, looking him in the eye, "Of course," she said firmly. She quickly snuggled back into his chest, though.

Phineas simply nodded in response and sighed as he realized he had to get out of bed. "But it's so comfortable," he thought before ultimately forcing Isabella and himself up.

Ferb came back in the room with a small map of sorts. He looked at Phineas, then to Isabella. "We're close," he said shortly.

Isabella's eyes widened for a moment, but then she composed herself and nodded fiercely, as if to say, "I'm ready."

Phineas grabbed and squeezed her hand as they exited the room, and then the inn itself. They found a man renting his carriage out. They asked to ride to the kingdom, and he complied, reluctantly it seemed like. For whatever reason, they never found out. They never really cared though.

After what seemed like an hour, Phineas and Ferb both were able to notice the dead silence and empty look Isabella exhibited as they neared those tall, sad walls of the capital city.

"We're here, guys," Ferb, of all people, said, breaking the almost deathly silence.

A/N 1,164 words for the actual chapter!

I'll get to some action and adventurous scenes next chapter. I should update soon because I'm pretty excited for it, if it comes out how I hope it will, at least. The only reason I didn't incorporate it in this chapter and double the length is because I really just didn't want to rush this chapter. I already feel like it's kind of rushed.

So, what did y'all think? Was it good or bad? Please review and tell me.
