A/N Sorry I took so long, no excuse really besides my 3 APs and all my school work, definitely underestimated my work load this year. Junior year is always rough, right?

Chapter 29

June got back from class and went on her computer. She checked her Scuttlebug and, just like everyday, there were tons of hate and rumors sent her way. June sighed. She didn't see what she did wrong. Why did all these people hate her? Just because she was dating their 'future husband?' Most of the things they said just were flat out untrue. She knew it was part of the deal with dating James, but still, did she really deserve it?

June sighed and dialed up James. When James was around, she was fine. But now he's gone, she just reads and reads and reads without anyone to stop her and it was starting to affect her.

"Hey June!" James answered.

"Hey James." June said.

"What's wrong?" James asked. How he knew June was upset baffled her.

"How did you know I was upset?" June asked.

"I can tell from your tone of voice. Now what's up?" James asked.

"It's just all this hate I'm getting. Like there's always someone who doesn't approve of our relationship. Whether it's fans, tv show hosts, celebrities, friends, even family." June complained. Just this morning she was watching a morning news show and they were talking about James and June and said that they will never last.

"Don't worry about it June. People throw rocks, you just have to get past it. They don't know us, so don't worry. All that matters to me is what you think." James said. June smiled.

"All that matters to me is what you think." June repeated.

"They can insult us all they want, but they can't take what's ours." James said.

"James, you are really deep when you need to be." June said with a laugh.

"Thank you, I try." There was a shout that June couldn't understand. "I have to go do sound check now. Don't let it get to you." James said.

"Alright. Love you bye." June said.

"Love you bye." James said. June set her phone down and picked up her guitar and started strumming out a song.

The next day, June was excited to get back from school. As soon as she got back, she could call James and show him the song she wrote for him. She finished it late last night, but where it was 11 for here, it was 1 or 2 for him.

June hurried through the lobby and up to her room. She shut the door behind her and turned on the lights. She went on her computer and opened FaceTime. She called James and waited eagerly for it to answer. Finally James's face popped up.

"Hey June." James said. He was on the tour bus. "Not that I don't want to see your pretty face, but why are you face timing me?"

"Well I wrote a song and I wanted to show it to you and I figured this would be easier." June said.

"You're gonna sing?" James asked.

"Yeah."

"Yes! I never get to hear you sing!" James said. June laughed.

"Are the boys around?" June asked.

"Yeah they're at the back of the bus." James said.

"Well I don't know if you want them to hear this, it's pretty sappy." June said. James laughed.

"I'm sure it's fine." James said.

"Okay. It's called 'Ours.'" June said. She picked up her guitar and rolled away from the computer a little.

Elevator buttons and morning air
Strangers' silence makes me want to take the stairs
If you were here we'd laugh about their vacant stares
But right now my time is theirs

Seems like there's always someone who disapproves
They'll judge it like they know about me and you
And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do
The jury's out, my choice is you

June looked up from her guitar to James. He was smiling.

So don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stakes are high, the water's rough
But this love is ours

James was smiling big. June looked at him and smiled while she strummed.

You never know what people have up their sleeves
Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me
Lurking in the shadows with their lip gloss smiles
But I don't care 'cause right now you're mine

June looked up and sang the entire chorus while looking at James.

And you'll say
Don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stakes are high, the water's rough
But this love is ours

And it's not theirs to speculate
If it's wrong and
Your hands are tough
But they are where mine belong and
I'll fight their doubt and give you faith
With this song for you

'Cause I love the gap between your teeth
June smiled as she thought about the gap that James used to have between his front teeth when they were kids, before he got braces. James groaned and rolled his eyes.
And I love the riddles that you speak
And any snide remarks from my father about your guitar will be ignored
'Cause my heart is yours

So don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
Don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
But they can't take what's ours
They can't take what's ours

The stakes are high, the water's rough
But this love is ours

June finished the last strum and set her guitar down. "Did you like it?"

"Did I like it?" James asked. "I loved it! June that was amazing!" She blushed.

"Thanks." June said. "My favorite part was about the gap in your teeth." June said with a smile. James groaned.

"It's gone now! See!" James said and smiled. "Why must you remind me of that?"

"Because I thought it was cute!" June said and laughed. James rolled his eyes.

"Well I really loved the song. You should show it to Gustavo!" James said. She shrugged.

"Maybe, I might just keep it be our song." June said. "I'll show it to Justine thought, if she likes it then she can have it for her next album." James nodded and rubbed his eyes.

"How are your classes going?" He asked.

"Good." June said. "I went to lab today for one of my forensic classes and I got this new partner. He's super nice and smart and I don't have to do all the work for once." June noticed the change in expression on James's face. "What?"

"He?" James asked. "He's really nice?"

"Yeah..." June trailed off, not understanding.

"Do I need to be worried?" He asked. June rolled her eyes and laughed.

"Shall I send the lyrics of the song I just sang to you?" She asked. James sighed.

"You're right. Sorry." He said. "I can't help it. I miss you."

"I miss you too." She said.

"I miss you so much June." Carlos's mocking voice came from off screen. James looked up and over, an annoyed look on his face.

"At least I have a girlfriend." He snapped.

"James, babe, just ignore them." June said. Her phone beeped. She picked it up off the desk. "I have to go get ready, I'm going to a movie with some friends. I'll call you later okay?"

"Okay." James said. "Love you."

"Love you too." June said and blew him a kissed. He grinned at her as they waved goodbye and ended the call.
