Saturday morning and Gail and the rest of 15 diversion are out on the street.. A parade was taking place in the city centre and they needed all the man power that was available .

Oliver gave the cops there positions much to Gail's dislike " c'mon Oliver do you have to stick me in between them losers" Gail sulks pointing to a group of cops from 27 ..

" suck it up peck you're only on half day, and you have Dov keeping you company"

"Yeah and I'm thrilled " he said sarcastically. He wasn't a fan of the 27 cops either ,Wes still gave him a hard time about Chloe .

"Oh look what we have here? Peck and her puppet" Wes teased gaining laughs from his fellow officers.

Gail clapped "wow did you think that up all by yourself "?

"Guys c'mon can we just not for one day" Officer luck yawned

" what's up luck?" Your Doctor friend keeping you up"? Wes laughed noticing how tired Amy looked.

Gail's chest tightened as well as the knot in her stomach at the thought

"that's none of your business Wes " Amy laughed

Wes laughed "that's a yes then"

Gail was in no mood to hear this " banter" between the two cops especially when it involved Holly..

"What are you looking at "Wes asked Dov cock sure of himself .

"Hes wondering what the hell Chloe saw in you " Gail pipped up "as do we all "

Gail stood forward only to be stopped my Dov "she just can't help but say what she sees "

The parade went off with out much intervention and Gail was glad to be heading back to the station ..

"Ouch" Amy laughed "well look at it this way not only do you get the company of the super up tight Elaine Peck but you also get her off spring , Ever the ice queen herself ,Gail Peck"

Holly's breath hitched at the sound of her name "she's uh .. She's not so bad "

Amy laughed" you obviously don't know her that well"she's as cold as they come ,she's defiantly her mothers child"

Holly didn't like hearing Amy speak badly of Gail , yes she was acting immature where Holly was concerned but underneath all that 'Holly genuinely liked Gail ..more then she cared to admit..

"Ok I'm ready, she smiled changing the subject "you sure you don't mind driving me "?

Amy's jaw fell slightly open "you uh .. You look great ".. And no .. No Ofcoarse I don't mind ."

Holly nodded " ok let's go "

Amy couldn't take her eyes off Holly. She had never seen holly so dressed up before, her dress empathised her curves and it sat in all the right places. "you know you're gonna be the talk of this party in that dress"

" you think it's to much"? Holly worried

"Are you kidding me"? Amy gasped " god no,Holly you look amazing"

As the pulled up outside Gail's parents place Holly was gob smacked

"wow", I heard the house was big but this "?

Amy took in the house also "yep it's a mansion " just another thing that let's us rookie know where the Pecks rank compared to us"

"Gail and Steve don't parade their wealth"!Holly said

" no but Steve's the youngest detective to ever make guns and gangs ,that's not a coincidence,"Amy said

"Gail's not a detective"Holly said in the blondes defence

"Yet" she holds out to piss her mother off ,soon as she bores with that she will be, and she will get the pick of what ever department she wants."

" I disagree, Gail seems to love her job as a beat cop, Im sure she wouldn't want her mother helping her " Holly said a little pissed off

" Holly she's a peck, she doesn't have to work as hard as the rest of us . And you'll see that when you go inside "Pecks are like royalty"they get what they want" when they want"

Holly shook her head, she knew Gail wasn't how Amy was describing her . She saw the real Gail at that camp.. She knows how Gail struggles with her mother. But she wasn't about to discuss it with her friend

Holly waved and headed up to the door where she was met but a man dressed in uniform "may I take your coat madam"?

"Uh yeah , sure " Holly smiled removing her coat handing it to the man .As she entered another room she was met by another man dressed the Same "

"Thanks "Holly smiled taking the glass . This really was lavish, she thought

" Holly"?Came a friendly voice followed by a friendly smile "

"Hey am I glad you're here " Traci smiled linking her arm with the doctors .

"Is it that bad"Holly frowned looking around

" no it's great but Steve's been dragged off my his mom and Gail's disappeared so it left me alone , but now you're here we can get drunk and laugh at all this white shirts " Traci joked

"Sounds good to me" Holly smiled clinking her glass on Traci's

" so this is the Peck mansion huh"?holly asked looking around ..admiring the painted ceilings

" yup this is were the magic happened" Traci laughed "this is where the pecks were moulded"

Holly raised her eyebrows "mmmm if walls could talk huh "?

Holly's eyes met familiar eyes the colour of the Caribbean sea

"She's not as bad as she makes out you know " Traci whispered noticing the exchange.

Holly laughed under her breath "really"? I'm not so sure"

Gail was stuck talking to her father and her god father she looked uncomfortable and holly noticed her roll her eyes more then once .

"Gail's complicated . She's hard work,she's an asshole, but underneath all that she's a great person Holly, she's been there for me when ever I've needed her"

"I know .. I know about you and Gail at camp" Traci told her with a smile" I also know she was a complete jerk"

Holly downed her champagne " it's cool Traci , Gail and I .. Well it was what it was,I'm over it"

Traci nodded handing holly another glass "oh no Elaine Peck "she warned Turing her back to the approaching women

"Doctor Stewart? How lovely to see you again , I'm so glad you could make it "

"Bill? Elaine called out "come here darling I would like you to meet Doctor Stewart, our new forensic pathologist ,

Bill peck held his hand out to shake Holly's "nice to meet you Doctor Stewart ,"

Gail had his eyes and the same shaped face, she obviously took after him more then Steve .. Apart from the eyes Steve was the image of his mother

"Thank you " smiled smiled wildly

" uh where's Abigail"? Elaine asked

" uh she was ther... Bills stopped as she turned around to where he left his daughter "well she was just there"

Elaine shook her head " can she just for once behave herself"

"Abigail "? Holly asked leaning into Traci " don't ever ever call her that" Traci warned "in fact you might want to forget you ever heard it".. Gail hates her full name , only Elaine uses it .. Well and Steve when he wants to get a reaction out of her" Traci laughed .

Holly had been at the party for well over an hour and was surprised her path hadn't crossed with Gail's yet, maybe Gail was avoiding her ? Maybe she was avoiding the whole event?

"Gail there you are " Elaine called out "come here sweetheart "

Holly watched as Gail exhaled heavily plastering on a fake smile .. Elaine was introducing her to who ever it was she was stood with .. Holly had a feeling everyone in the room know exactly who Gail was .. Yet Elaine insisted on pissing off her daughter .

Holly finally caught Gail's eye , holding up a bottle of champagne and pointing to an open door ..

"Yes "Gail mouthed looking greatful to be saved ..

"She's intense huh"? Holly stated once Gail had made her way outside on to the baloney

"You think"? She mocked filling up her glass downing it in one..

"I hate this" the blonde sighed

"It's gotta be tough " Holly laughed swigging from the bottle " I understand now ,you know about what you said at camp about being a Peck"

Gail nodded "I'm surprised you came"?

Holly laughed again " I was afraid your mother would hunt me down for an explanation"

Gail smiled "yeah she would of too "

"Your dad seems cool,? A quiet man ?"

Gail nodded" makes you wonder how he stomachs her uh"?

Holly shrugged "I guess he just sees something others don't"

Gail looked over at the brunette who was looking out on to the lite up pool in the garden..Gail wondered if it was her or her father the doctor was taking about .

"He's a good man " Gail said "a brave man"she laughed

"I can see the attraction" Holly smiled "I mean your mums a good looking women"

Ewwwww" Gail grossed out causing Holly to roll her eyes "she's intelligent, she's brave, she's independent,she's feared In her profession, and she's his children's mother"

Gail screwed her face up " really Holly"? Really?

Holly laughed" yeah"

"Well to me she's just a walking white shirt who breaths,eats,and sleeps law enforcement"

Holly felt bad for Gail, she found it sad that Gail and her mother didn't have the bond her mother and her had, Holly loved her mother more then anyone in the world , she was her idol, her rock, her mentor but more then anything else she was the kind of women Holly aspired to be like... Gail had a lot of her mothers traits not that Holly would care to share that with the blonde ..even if what she meant was ,she was beautiful, independent, fearless, good at her job!

Holly's mind wondered to what Amy had said in the car and she wanted to test the theory

"Don't you want to be a detective some day Gail "?

Gail looked over her glass at the brunette who still hadn't made eye contact with her "and miss having my mom put me down every day"? Gail laughed under her breath " hell no"

Holly finally looked at her tilting her head " seriously"

Gail sighed leaning on the railings of the Balcony" I guess eventually" it's difficult "

Gail shook her head " becoming a detective on my own merits , I'm a Peck so it's like everyone just expects me to become some hot shot, doesn't matter how hard I work for it ,I'll never get the recognition I deserve, people will always assume I Just walked into the position "

"You don't strike me as someone who cares what others thing of you " Holly smiled

"I don't particularly " Gail shrugged "I love my job holly, I love being out I the streets, I love wearing my uniform everyday, I love the power it gives me, but more then all of that I love the fact that I can protect people, I can make a difference, so if I never become anything more then a beat cop well"? I don't really care"

Holly smiled she knew Officer Luck was wrong about the blonde, she knew it ran deeper with Gail , she saw her with the cocky kid at camp, she really does want to make a difference and in Holly's eyes that's just what she's doing .

Gail Peck is making her mark on the world without the privileges of her family name .

The two stand quietly side by side just taking the the view of the peck residence

"Hol"? Gail says whispers " I'm really sorry I banged into the the other day and didn't help pick up your files , it was a real jerk move"

Holly nudged her" it's ok Gail , I lived " she laughed

Gail turned so her body was facing Holly's she hadn't realised just how close they were stood .. As she turned her body was partially leaning on Holly's "and I'm really really sorry I walked out on you "

Holly sighed "Gail we've been through this "

"Gail " Holly shook her head " I know you feel bad about it but you've apologised,it happened and we can't change that " it's fine really "

Holly wasn't sure what Gail was getting at ,she wondered just how much champagne Gail had consumed " Gail "

Gail didn't give Holly change to talk she leant in crashing her lips on to the doctors . At first Holly reciprocated, Gail's lips felt good on her own , they were warm and soft and she tasted good,. as Gail's hands wondered around Holly's back she pulled away "no"

Gail fell forward a little steading herself on the railings "no"?

"That's just it though isn't it Gail"? Holly interrupted "you're messed up, you don't know what you want .. One minute you're kind and caring the next you're cold and condensing " one minute you can't get enough of me the next you can wait to get away from me .. And yeah she gave me rides and we had breakfast , hey we've even been to the batting cages and for lunch and dinner but that does not mean I'm sleeping with her .. And Even if I was so what "?
