Holly was late for work,she blamed it on the amount of wine she had consumed the night before, but if she was honest with herself then she would admit it was a certain blonde cop that had plaque her sleep .
As she entered her office there was a case of déjà vu, another box this time it was much bigger, Holly shook her head but couldn't help but smile , this time the card was on the outside along with a picture .. The picture was of a store room full of walking aids (crutches)
Holly frowned.. did Gail seriously google this picture and print it off?
Holly opened the card " so as you can see I have access to a lot of crutches so I defiantly don't need another, I'm happy you kept the Rose (yeah I dropped this one off myself) I know how you like to skip lunch (a lot) so I thought we could change that?
It was good to see you last night even if you declined my being "nice"

Holly couldn't help but laugh , she really is something else' she opens the box to reveal a huge hamper of "Holly like foods" not a cheese puff or a donut in sight .. Holly bit her lip , it would be so easy to give in but something inside her still felt that pang of fear Gail will at some point reject her..
Impressed ? Was the text message that appeared on Holly's phone .
Holly decided a little fun would hurt.
H- Impressed?
G yeah? Wait are you at work yet ?

G- ok so ? Are you impressed ?

Gail rolled her eyes
G- with the huge lunchbox ?
Holly laughed
H- ohhhhhhh that's from you ?

H- it saves me from raiding the vending machine I guess

Holly frowned licking get bottom lip

Holly laughed out loud she hasn't expected Gail to be so forward.. What exactly would she say in reply to that ?

G- about sharing your lunch with me?
H- I don't have time for lunch today.. Plus you only eat cheese puffs and donuts .
"I knew you were gonna say that " Gail smiled from the door of the lab
Holly was shocked to see Gail stood in front of her "hi"
Gail grinned "don't worry I brought my own lunch " she smirked as she threw her sandwhich on Holly's desk before parking her butt on it " nice rose" she smiled...
"Uh huh" was all Holly replied
"Is she a hotty? You know the girl that sent you it"?
Holly shrugged "some might say"
Gail nodded "and what do you say"?
Holly sighed "Gail I'm really busy, like I said I don't have time for lunch or... Holly stopped what she was saying.
"Or"? Gail asked
"Or this.. Holly said moving her finger between the two of them "I don't know what you want from me, flowers, food hampers"
"Don't forget the test tube" Gail butted in
"Gail" Holly moaned
"Ok look "Gail began licking her lips " I know I've been an asshole .. And I know I don't deserve your time , but .. I'm trying Holly"
"What do you want Gail"? I mean really? What do you want from me"?
Gail got up off the table and talked over to the doctor just short of her personal space " I want one night , just one date that's all?"
Holly swallowed hard as she noticed Gail staring at her lips "and if I say no"?
Gail laughed shaking her head "then I guess I'll have to try harder"
"I don't want to play games gail "
Gail could see Holly was nervous with her being so close , she decided to step a little closer , she wanted to hear that hitch in Holly's breath , " I just want some of your time , I'm not asking to take you to bed" Gail smirked "cause you know I've kinda did that already " she laughed
Holly blushed" hmmmm a moment of stupidity on my part"
Gail rolled her eyes "come out with me? Please"?
Holly tried to gain some space between then but Gail stepped in her way , this time they were almost touching "We can do anything you want"?
Holly narrowed her eyes folding her arms across her chest " anything"?
Gail smiled with a nod .
"Batting cages, 7.30"
"Sports?" Are you for real"? Gail groaned
Holly made her escape and sat at her desk "that's what I'm doing tonight after work, take it or leave it"
Gail sighed "fine, batting cages it is , not I warn you , I don't do sports"
"It won't hurt you to try something new" Holly stated
Gail nodded as she walked over to Holly leaning down over her , so close their lips were almost touching, holly couldn't help but close her eyes and hold her breath, which made Gail smile . Their lips were so close Holly could smell Gail's lip gloss "so I'll see you at 7.30 then " she teased as she leant over to grab her sandwhich. "Later nerd"
Holly opened her eyes in time to see Gail leave the room "damn it" she whispered , Gail had her right where she wanted her in that moment and Holly kicked herself for falling for it...
Gail turned the corner checking no one was around and fist pumped "good work Peck, good work "
Holly took a deep breath in. that moment was intense and she wondered had Gail kissed her would she have reciprocated? Who was she kidding she knew damn well she would have ... Holly wasn't sure what it was about Gail that drew her in so deeply , part of her wished she could just get her out of her hair and move on , but the other part of her couldn't help but want to know her .
The though of their date tonight made her nervous, like high school date nervous, she felt butterflies in her stomach just thinking about it..
Gail on the other hand was mighty proud of herself , she was finally getting to spend some time with Holly .. She wanted Holly to a see she wasn't some mixed up confused idiot .
"Traci, she smiled as she entered the lunch room "you know How Every time my mother thinks it's ok to set me up with some of the most lamest men in the city"?
"Yup" Traci laughed
"Well you know how you always help me with what to wear"?
"Yup" Traci laughed again "oh wait she hasnt has she"?
Gail smiled widely "nope I have managed to get my own date, so I need your advise"
Traci narrowed her eyes "date with who"?
Gail looked around to make sure no one was listening in " Holly"

Gail laughed straightening her vest "because my dear friend ,Gail Peck isn't a quitter "
Traci laughed clapping her hands "bravo, well done you, so ? Where are you going"?
Gail huffed taking Traci's coffee off the table and drinking it" well this is the problem, it's not actually a date date",

"I know "Gail agreed laughing "so it's obvious I'm going to make a complete tool of myself, so how am I going to recover?"
"Gail? Holly's really sweet I don't think you have anything to worry about, just don't be snarky when she laughs at you , just enjoy it".. You've been wanting this opportunity for weeks so don't screw it up"
Gail suddenly looked nervous"so what does one wear to a batting cage"?
Traci shrugged "well your heads gonna be covered in head gear so... You need something that makes your other assets stand out"?
"What"Gail frowned
Traci got up off her seat "wear those leather pants of yours , your ass looks amazing in them" Traci winked

"Always"? Traci laughed as she left the room ...

7pm and Gail's checking herself out in the mirror, Traci's words echoing in her mind " my ass does look good in these " she smiled
"It does yeah " Chris agreed at her door
Gail smiled" what do you want"?
"Nothing , just wanted to see how your doing?, feel like we haven't spoke in a few days"?
Chris had returned from rehab a little over 5 weeks ago and he was on constant desk duty, Gail felt bad at his words, she has been preoccupied with Holly arriving she hadn't gave her friend a second thought ..
"Yeah sorry...I've been a little preoccupied"..
"It's ok" Chris smiled
Gail shook her head "no.. No it's not, look I'm going out tonight but how about me, you and a death domain marathon tomorrow night"?
Chris grinned tapping the door frame "I'd like that very much"
"Cool" Gail winked looking in the mirror once more "just no meat cocktails " she laughed
"Beer only ? Got it" Chris raised his thumbs " and hey ... You really do look great"
Gail nodded feeling happier about her outfit .. "I better go' I'll see you later"? she added placing a kiss on his cheek ...
Holly was on her third round when Gail rocked up .. The blonde watched her from a far for a moment , jumping a little at the force of Holly's swing
"So this is your idea of fun"? She asked from behind the fence.
Holly spun around on her heels " what can I say? It's cathartic, give it ago"? She smiled offering Gail the bat
Gail shook her head unsure"I'm not really sporty, chasing bad guys is about my limit"?
Holly shrugged lifting her glasses up her nose "what's the worst that can happen"?
"Hmmmmm"Gail hummed with her finger to her lips "let me see, I could make a complete fool of myself and your'll tease me for the rest of the night"
Holly made her way out of the pit towards Gail "ok so that won't be so bad, I think the big badass cop can handle that"
Gail raised her eyebrows. She really didn't want to play ball .. "Can't I just stand her and check you out?"
Holly rolled her eyes taking Gail's hands and wrapping them around the bat pushing her gently into the pit..."give it a chance, you might just like it"
Gail spun around pointing the bat the Doctor "I could say the same to you"
Holly gasped knowing exactly what Gail meant by that comment "play ball Peck "
Gail stood nervously waiting for the ball to come , it felt like forever. She shifted her feet digging her heels in .
"Relax" Holly called out from behind her.
Gail took a deep breath as the ball came hurling towards her , she swung the bat awkwardly losing her grip, as the bat went AWOL she let out a high pitched girly screech causing Holly to laugh hard .. " I told you I don't do sports " she blushed laughing
Holly couldn't contain her amusement "actually it might kill you"
Gail shook get head "I feel so humiliated " she laughed pulling at her head gear " I'm done .. Im leaving"
Holly gain control of herself grabbing Gail as she marched past her " wait wait wait" she laughed pulling Gail back "you can't give up just like that", c'mon let me help you"?
Gail looked down at her hands which happened to be entwined with the brunettes "you just want to laugh at me some more "
Holly nodded "yeah that and I also want you to give it another go, just one more and if you don't like it then we can quit"
"And get booze"? Gail asked
Holly nodded
"And your feed me"? Gail smiled
Again Holly nodded " yes all the above"
Gail thought about it for a few seconds before shrugging "fine"
Holly hands her another bat and Gail struts back into the pit "you know I really don't get how people class this as fun?" Or is it a nerd thing"?
Holly rolled her eyes "it is fun you're just got giving it chance"
Gail took her place once again swinging the bat over her shoulder,
"Ok let me help you" Holly said heading towards the blonde "you hold the bat to high" she explained taking Gail's arm guiding them to where she wanted them to be "then you need to bend at the knee some more"
Gail felt her stomach flutter at Holly being so close , she could feel her breath on her neck and the scent of her perfume engulfing her .
"That's it " Holly whispered in the cops ear " just keep your eyes on the ball when it's realised at you should hit it "
Gail turned her head a little so she could see Holly, their faces inches apart " is this pay back for this afternoon"?
Holly frowned "pay back"?
"Well you did think I was going to kiss you earlier"
"No I did" Holly blushed
"Yeah - ya kinda did " Gail smiled leaning a little closer "and I'm pretty sure you were disappointed when I didn't"
Holly swallowed moving away "just hit the ball Peck"
Gail laughed biting her lip turning towards the ball machine "ok you little shit , let's do this "
As the ball came towards here she swung the bat just short of the ball
"Ooooooo so close " Holly cheered "try again "
Gail fumed tapping the bat on floor before lifting it again ... The second ball came and Gail used every bit of strength she had and hit the ball sending it flying "yesssss " she jumped up and down
"Holly cheered for her clapping her hands "again"?
Gail nodded and repeated the action .. 1-2-3 more times " ok I'm the champion of the world and now I'm done " she stated throwing the bat on the floor waking out of the cage .. "Now feed me Stewart"
Holly smiled shaking her head as she watched Gail walk away .. This women never failed to amuse the Doctor ..
Once holly returned the equipment she found Gail at the canteen "I've ordered, what do you want"?
Holly screwed her face up "I uh - I don't really eat at places like this"?
Gail turned looking at her with an unimpressed look " it's burger, what's the worst that can happen "
Holly looked around before lowering her voice " it's not exactly clean in here, annnnnd . Look at the staff, most of them look like they could do with a bath "
Gail laughed almost choking on her coke" oh my god you are a snob, you're a nerd and a snob"
"What ? No," Holly protested "I'm not a snob I just value my health "
Gail shrugged "fine go hungry, but don't think you can share mine once it comes"
Holly smiled ordering herself a sofa , opting for a can rather then a cup .
The conversation was pretty limited as Gail tucked into her food " where do you put it all" Holly asked as she watched Gail devour the burger .
"Chasing bad guys is all the exercise I need nerd"
"Clearly " Holly nodded sipping her soda .
"You want some"? Gail offered making Holly laugh "I'll pass,.. But thanks "
Gail shrugged "ok well I'm done "
The two headed out into the night stopping at the door "so this was fun" Holly smiled
"For nerds maybe" Gail teased
"You enjoyed yourself don't lie" Holly said nudging her playfully

Gail shifted from one foot to the other "I didnt, I mean I didn't bring the car"

Holly laughed " for sure, I have a different passenger every night"
Gail shook her head giving Holly directions to her place " some might call that slutty"
Holly chucked" hmmmmmm! but then some might say sleeping with someone you barely know slutty as well"
"Ouch " Gail laughed " it's ok nerd, we've all been there , don't beat yourself up about it, I'm pretty sure you had the time of your life"
Holly couldn't help but laugh at the snarky cop. As much as she hates to admit it she really enjoyed being in her company .
Gail pointed to her apartment block "that's me"
Holly pulled up outside looking out the window " so this is where the magic happens huh"?
Gail shook her head "I live with smell boys who drink meat cocktails , it's hardly magic "
Holly cringed at the cocktail remark " well this was fun "
Gail turned to Holly biting her lip " ok so I have a confession "
Holly tilted her head looking worried "ok"
Gail turned to fully face the Doctor "when we left the batting cages I said Chris dropped me off , but uh... She sighed " I lied .. I actually did come in my car and I kinda need you to drive me back to collect it "
Holly bit the corner of her bottom lip " what"? She laughed under her breath
"I need you to drive back to the batting cages so I can get my car" Gail shrugged
Pinching the bridge of her nose Holly took a second to think about what was happening " ok so you get me to drive you home only for me to drive you back to where we just came from "?
Gail nodded "well done Doc, you really are a brain box "
Holly shook her head " I don't get it, I mean I don't get why "? Why would you do that "?
Gail sighed " because I didn't want the evening to end, and I knew that we would have parted company had I told you I had my car "
"Sooooooo you get me drive you home so we can hang out longer"

"You didn't think to just say " hey let's hang out "?
Gail shook her head "no, because you probably would of told me you had an early start or something and left me in that Parking lot "
Holly started the car pulling off "you are a strange one Gail Peck, you know that right ?"
Gail leaned into the head rest " we're still hanging out right "? She grinned "now shhhh I'm trying to listen to the music"
Holly drove back to the batting cages to see only one car in the parking lot "yours I take it"?she asked pulling up at the side of it
"Yup" Gail answered
"Ok are you sure I don't need to drive you any where else"
Gail lifted her self up of the seat to sit tall " well I would say your place but I kinda think that would be pushing my luck"
Holly sighed heavily looking out at Gail's car.
"Thought so" Gail laughed nudging Holly " I was actually kidding you know"? - I appreciate you letting me hang out with you tonight"
Holly smiled "it's wasn't awful"
Gail rolled her eyes " ok so I guess it's gettin late and you probably do have an early start so "...
Holly looked over at the blonde taking her in a little " I had a nice time "
Gail opened the door stepping out " me too "
As Gail headed towards her car turned to walk back .. Appearing at Holly's door opening it " Hey so .. Uh- I know It took a lot for you to let your guard down and hang out with me tonight "
"Gail"
"Please .. Let me finish".. I just had a good time , like we did at camp. .. I tease you, you come back at me.. It's fun" and I .. She bites on her lip a little " well I was kinda hoping you would let me take you out properly? Dinner maybe"?
Holly let out the breath she didn't realise she was holding "I think maybe that could be arranged, but Gail " she shakes her head "I don't wanna .. I don't know .. I.. Just .. I ... I"
"It's ok" Gail interrupted " I know and I get it, just dinner , hanging out "
Holly nodded "ok" she smiled
Gail grinned biting her lip "cool, I uh.. I guess I'll let you go "
Holly smiled switching her engine on

Gail doesn't speak she just opens the door leaning in stopping when there lips almost touch " this is kinda where you lean in to let me know that kissing you goodnight is ok"? She whispers
Having Gail so close causes holly to loose any control she has over herself " I must be crazy " Holly mutters closing the gap, gently placing her lips on Gail's,
Gail internally high 5'd herself leaning further into Holly taking her face in her hands kiss of her deeper .. Holly allowed Gail to control the kiss even opening her mouth to allow her entrance , Gail swiped her tongue against Holly's causing her tp break the kiss " woah "
Gail stayed close looking into Holly's eyes " good night "
Holly swallowed hard "yeah night "
Gail was pleased at the effect she had on the Doctor ,pushing her luck a little taking one more kiss it was quick and gently " see ya"
Holly sat gripping the wheel .. Gail got her right where she wanted her in that moment and as much as Holly had hoped to keep it light between them, she knew passing up a feel of those beautiful pink lips was never going to happen ...
OK! SO I KNOW THIS ISNT EXACTLY GAIL PECK BEHAVIOUR BUT I WANTED TO SHOW A DIFFERENT SIDE . A MORE CONFIDANT FUN SIDE TO HER ...
