Chapter Nine
::::::::::_||_:::::::::::
The day was beautiful yet again. I've been here in Amestris for at least five days now.
'Another peaceful day...' I thought to myself as I breathed in the clean air. This time, people were up and about, wandering all over town with broken items.
"Hey!" Someone yelled excitedly to her friend, holding a gothic-like statue of a butterfly.
'What the hell...?!'
"Hey!" Her friend said, looking at the sculpture. "What the heck is that?" She asked, poking the butterfly.
"Oh this? It's just my monarch butterfly knickknack that my aunt Carla gave me. You remember my aunt Carla, right?"
"Oh, her? She's the one who always gave me some of her antique earrings!"
'Antique earrings...' The words brought back a good memory...
"Oh my god, Lily! Ola!" Screamed my good friend, Vincent, as he came running towards Ola and I at lightning speed.
"What the hell is it?!" Ola demanded, glaring at Vince for interrupting our debate on who would win in a fight; Oswald or Perry.
"I... *huff* lost... *huff huff* my grandmother's... *wheeze* golden earrings... *huff*!" He exclaimed worriedly. Although, it sounded as if we were the reasons behind the earrings sudden disappearance, which in reality we were.
"Oooo~oooh~," I said, tauntingly. "Tragic~!"
This caused an exasperated and annoyed glare from Vince, which in turn caused me and Ola to laugh at his look. Mainly because he always wore a gentle smile, like his gentle soul.
". . ." Vince looked really annoyed by now.
"Okay—hahaha—We're, heheh, s-s-sorr—AHAHAHAHAHAHA!" I tried to speak, but his glare kept growing and it got funnier and funnier by the minute.
After about seventeen minutes or so, Ola and I had calmed down enough to take Vince seriously.
"Okay, continue," Ola said, using her hand to gesture that we were ready to listen.
"Okay," he started. "My grandmother's earrings are missing. Have any of you two seen it?" He asked, this time with a concerned expression rather than his hilarious glare.
Ola and I smirked at each other this time.
"May~be~," we both said in a provoking, singsong voice.
"Where?" He asked, this time enthusiastically.
I slowly lifted up two golden earrings and jiggled them. Vince didn't look too happy to see this.
"—ard Elric was the one who turned my stroller into a drill! I knew he was a weird alchemist, but I didn't think he was this weird!" A very loud mother shouted.
'Wait... what?' I thought, suddenly confused.
'I've heard an awful lot about Ed. What in hell is he doing?' I looked around. Suddenly, a realization hit me.
'Ed said that the homunculi were dangerous and that they'll kill anyone involved with them. Al said that they had to lay low so that they wouldn't attract any attention too.. They certainly have a weird way of being "quiet"...' I sighed and continued walking.
'I wonder how Al puts up with such a cheeky, rude, pipsqueak of a brother.'
"Lily?" A familiar voice said, bordering on yelling. I turned around and saw, fortunately, Winry. She was standing with a beautiful woman and possibly the cutest little girl that I've ever seen.
"Winry!" I said, running towards her. Finally, something not about the Elrics'.
"What're you doing here?" She asked, surprised to see me, in a good way.
"I'm just walking around," I said, suddenly self-conscious about just that. "And you?" I asked, hoping that she wouldn't ask about where I was staying.
I don't know about you, but I don't think saying that I've been sleeping by a gate is a good answer to give...
"Same, but with these two. Lily, meet Mrs. Hughes, or Gracia, and her daughter, Elicia." Winry said, smiling.
I looked up at Gracia. She reminded me of my own mother, if she were gentler.
"Why hello there," Gracia said nicely.
"Hello! Nice to meet you!" I said, panicking. I bowed quickly, feeling really self-conscious now.
"Hey, did you hear about the Elrics'? I hear Scar's after them again," a guy said, making Winry and me to turn and see what he was talking about.
"I better go see what's up with those two!" Winry said, a little annoyed. Then she took off.
"I'll go with her," I said before taking off after her. I was almost in a full run before I turned around and yelled, "IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU! HOPE WE CAN TALK SOME OTHER TIME!"
Then I was off.

AN: So, I've been reading many stories that often have flashbacks, so I thought I'd try it out. I think I'll do more, y'know, so you can get the feel of what Lily's old life was like.
Oh! And if you're wondering, yes. Lily and Winry are gonna become besties. I don't necessarily like Winry, but I wouldn't mind having her as a friend.
I do in fact plan on adding the major, I just need to find a good place where, ya know?
Anyways, hope you enjoyed the chapter, have a good day (or night...), and bye.
