Holly was still unconscious when the paramedics arrived. Gail decided to tell Traci what happened and agreed to talk to Holly about pressing charges, Gail knew Holly wouldn't cooperated with her so she hoped someone like Traci could convince her , Holly went to the hospital while Gail tied up the loose ends at the morgue.

"Hey" she smiled as she reached Holly's room to be met by Traci outside " did you get a statement? I'll give you mine later I just want to see Holly "

Traci Shook her head " there's no point taking your statement, Holly won't talk"

"What"? Gail snapped causing Traci to shrug " if she won't make a statement there nothing we can do? You know that"?

Gail was furious " what the hell is wrong with her"?

"Maybe you need to talk to her, if she changes her mind call me and I'll come back ok"? Traci said squeezing Gail's arm ..

Gail stood outside the room taking a moment to calm down, she knew the last thing Holly needed was for her to kick off at her... "Hey you? How's the head"? She smiled

Holly smiled back "sore" she croaked " you ok"?

Gail took a seat next to the bed reaching out to hold Holly's hand " I should be asking you that question"

"I'm ok Gail, just a little shook up is all"

Gail bite her lip " Hols why won't you make a statement?"

Holly rolled her eyes " don't you think his mother is going through enough right now"?

"That's not our problem Holly" Gail fumed " what he did was wrong, he can't get away with it"

Holly looked away sucking in her bottom lip" he's a kid Gail"

Gail got up off her chair " no .. No he isn't, he's a 22 year old man and knew exactly what he was doing, I mean he followed you all day so thats pre-meditated, he held a knife to your throat Holly "

"I don't need reminding of it" Holly snapped " I just can't see how jail is gonna help him, you heard him Gail, he's lost , he doesn't know how to make things better, he thinks he's brother died because of him" he doesn't need jail."

"Yeah he kinda does" Gail said sarcastically " he deserves everything he gets, and if you're not going to make him pay for it I will"

Holly shook her head " I'm not pressing charges"

"why not"? Gail shouted "you were scared, afraid for your life Holly, and now you don't think he needs punished for it"?

Holly sat up a little rubbing her eyes " Gail I'm in pain, and I'm tired and a little emotional so I really don't need this right now" the brunettes cried

Gail sighed " Ok ok.. She agreed sitting on the bed taking Holly's hand again" I'm sorry, I just hate that this happened to you, Hol I've done that kinda thing more times then I care to remember ,but I can honestly say, I've never been more afraid in my life then I was in that room."

Holly nodded rubbing her thumb across the back of Gail's hand. "you were so brave"

Gail closed her eyes " Holly the thought of you getting hurt scares me to death, I messed up this morning with the whole Wes thing and for that I'm sorry, but you have to know, seeing that guy holding that knife to you "Gail shook the image away " made me feel like I couldn't do my job, I wasn't a cop stood there Holly , i was someone who had to stand helplessly and watch the person they love being more scared then they've ever been in there life and there was nothing in that moment I could do about it"

Holly stroked the side of Gail's face catching a tear as it fell " I know!, but it's ok Gail, look"? She smirks lifting Gail's chin with her hand " I'm here,and apart from this cut, she pointed to her head" I'm fine"

Gail gently leaned in catching Holly's lips between her own " I love you Holly" she whispered.

"Holly pulled away looking into Gail's eyes " you don't mean that, it's the shook of what happened "

Gail shook her head " no.. Today just made me realise it, I think I fell in love with you the moment you gave me that beer at camp, I've just been a bit of an idiot" Gail smiled kissing the Doctor again " I'm in love with you Holly"

Holly gave Gail her famous lopsided smile before taking the blondes face into her hand and kissing her passionately on the lips " I love you too Gail Peck"

Gail led with Holly while she slept thinking of ways to get Holly to agree to press charges,

"Hey" Steve smiled gently knocking the door " how she doing?

Gail gently moved Holly off her and slid off the bed " she's ok, just a little sore, so did you find anything"?

Steve shook his head " West hasn't been back to his apartment, I had Chloe look into his record, he was jailed 3 years go for gang related crimes, a crime he actually didn't commit, he took the rap for a robbery, you can see on the CCTV it's not him .. He's framed to small but he admitted it," Steve explained

"Anything else"? Gail asked

"He's names been brought to my attention a few times but it seems he's just a runner," Steve said sympathetically.

"Ok so bring him in, get him to confess to what he did to Holly instead of her making a statement"

Steve bounced on his heels "c'mon sis.. You know I can't do that, unless Holly presses charges I can't touch him "

Gail sighed heavily looking at Holly " I don't get it, why won't she do it"?

"Scared? Steve offered

Gail shook her head " no that it, I just don't know what "it" is"..

"I'll keep tabs on the guy for now" Steve smiled kissing his sisters head " oh I forgot to ask" he laughed " are you ok"?

Gail rolled her eyes " yes dear brother I'm fine"

"Thought so" he winked as he walked away ..

Gail? Holly called out " Gail ?"

"I'm here" Gail replied sitting back on the bed. Holly didn't answer she just curled back into the cop falling back to sleep .. Gail wasn't going to let up on the subject but maybe it could wait till Holly was back on her feet ...

Are you sure you're ready to go back to work" Gail asked through a mouthful of toast .

"Yes Gail" Holly replied rolling her eyes " we've been through this, I can't just stay home all day, these last 3 days have killed me"

"I know you're bored ,but Holly what happened was serious,"

"I know, but I can't hide away forever, I'll be fine.." Holly narrowed her eyes at Gail as she sipped her coffee " you know I really wish you would swallow your food before you talk"

Gail opened her mouth to show the doctor the remains of her breakfast

"Gross" Holly moaned shaking her head trying hard not to laugh " ok so are you driving me"?

"can't you just have the rest of the week off and start a fresh Monday"? Gail asked hopeful

Holly finished her coffee rinsing the mug in the sink " no!"

Gail sulked clearing her plate away " well I'm gonna be stopping by as often as I can"

Holly looked unimpressed at her girlfriend "Gail"?

"Not arguing" Gail said waving her hand in the air walking to the front door to collect her jacket "c'mon nerd let's go"

Holly stood at the door of the lab with her arms folding while Gail cased the joint " you sure you don't want to check under my desk in case someone hiding there" she said slightly amused .

"Oh this is amusing to you "? Gail moaned bending down to look under the table "

Holly smiled walking over to the cop wrapping her arms around her neck kissing her slowly " I know you're only being cautious, but you don't have to be, they've stepped up security here so It'll be ok, no one gets in or out without being checked out "

Gail leaned in for another kiss, wrapping her arms around Holly's waist holding her close " no offence Hol cause I really do like john, but he's as old as this building, what's he really going to do"?

Holly smiled stroking Gail's bangs " john isn't alone, the morgue has hired another guard " Holly informed her girlfriend " please stop worrying so much" ?

" I'm not worried" Gail shrugged.

Holly grinned " that's good then, you won't need to stop by at every chance you get"

Gail frowned not liking how smug Holly was looking " I don't care but I'm still coming over"

Holly kissed Gail before smiling " ok, now get out of here so I can get some work done"

Gail nodded but didn't move, she but down on her lip still holding Holly's waist .. " Go" Holly smiled pulling herself from the blondes grip ..

Gail headed to the door turning back to her girlfriend " Hol? She whispered " you will call me if you need me right? Even if you're a little... I don't know? Anything, your'll call right"?

Holly now sat at her desk smiled " I promise I'll call you "

Gail smiled with a nod " ok ..I'll go away now"

Holly laughed "hey?... I love you"

"I love you " Gail blushed " call me"?

"Go" Holly winked ..

Gail kept checking her phone every couple of minutes wondering how Holly was and contemplated whether to text her or not .

"You know your phone usually rings when someone's tryna call you" Dov moaned.

"I was just checking the time"

"Yeah well it's about thirty seconds past the last time you checked" Dov informed her making her screw her face up at him " if you must know I'm worried about Holly"

Dov groaned " ugh Gail I'm such an idiot, I'm sorry, how she is"?

"Fine " Gail huffed "or that's what she keeps telling me"

Dov nodded " again I'm sorry"

Gail shrugged " your still an asshole"

Dov laughed under his breath " instead of constantly checking your phone why don't you call her?, just a thought "

"Yeah well I would but.. I don't want her to think in checking up"

"Women! damned if ya do and damned if ya don't " Dov muttered to himself .

Gail got up and walked around to Dov's desk leaning into his ear " well you would know all about that. I mean Chloe is the guy in your relationship right"?

Dov pinched his lips together nodded . he wasn't going to get into a slanging match with Gail.. One because he knew wshe would win and two because he was actually having a good day ..

"Hey Doc" John smiled at the lab door making Holly Jump " shit!, she breathed out " I'm sorry john I didn't hear you coming "

"No oh it's my fault my dear I shouldn't have crept up in you like that, I just wanted to see if you're ok"?

Holly nodded " I'm getting there" she swallowed

"That lady friend of yours gave me orders to keep an eye out for you, she really is a force"?

Holly laughed " that she is"

John winked " I like her"

"Me too" Holly smiled ...

Holly breathed out heavily once she was left alone, the day wasn't as hard as has thought ,but her mind wasn't on her job, she kept thinking about Cyrus!, she wasn't afraid he'd come back, she wasn't even afraid about what happened to her, but she was afraid about what might happen to him , regardless of what Gail said to Holly he was just a kid who had been dealt a shitty hand in life...as she sat in her own thought she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket , she didn't even look at the caller I.D she knew it would be Gail .

H- afternoon Officer " she smiled

G- hey, this is me not checking in

Holly laughed a little " oh really?

G- mmmhmm" so how ya doing?

H- I'm fine Gail, Johns already come by following your orders .

G- oh... Well it wasn't really an order

H- Ofcoarse not

G- I'm worried about

Holly smirks into the phone " don't be! I'm ok"

G- can you just let me be worried about you please?

H- hey, I love that you care, I really do but I don't want it taking up your whole day "

G- well you don't really have a choice, It kinda just happens.. I wanna come see you! Can I?

H- Gail? Since when do you need permission"?

Holly frowned at the phone going dead

"Good cause I kinda already came over" Gail smiled at the door

Holly shook her head laughing under her breath " well did you at least bring lunch"?

Gail threw a bag at the brunette " always" she winked ..

The two sat together on the couch in Holly's office ,not before Gail locked the door " precaution " she smiled ..

"So how come you get a triple sandwich and I don't "? The Doctor sulked " and before you answer please empty your mouth " she warned.

Gail smiled shaking her head as she swallowed her food " well unfortunately for you, organic healthy cardboard tasting sandwiches don't come in three's " Gail smirked "

Holly rolled her eyes before shifting closer to the blonde " gimme a bite"?

"Nah huh" Gail groaned moving her sandwich to her other hand " you ate yours "

"Yeah but you had three, and it looks good" Holly smiled pushing her body into Gail's side " please"?

Gail frowned" Holly this is really unhealthy, it's full of calories and crappy probably unwashed meat "

Holly laughed " I'll take the risk"

"No" Gail protested as Holly slowly moved across her lap " I'll swap"?

"For"? Gail asked suddenly more open to sharing her food .

"Mmmmm" Holly licked her lip " well, if you let me have some.. Not all.. Just some of that , then I might just show you how appreciative I am about you sharing your lunch with me"? She swooned

Gail's eyes light up" ok .. Just so we're reading from the same book here, why don't you give me a taster "?

Holly ran her thumb over Gail's lips removing a smudge of mayo away before opening her mouth taking Gail's bottom lip into hers , the blonde moaned into her mouth as Holly teased her with her tongue " so are you sharing"? she muttered against Gail's lips

"Have it" was Gail's reply as she grabbed Holly's ass with her free hand being her into a deeper kiss ,

Holly took the sandwich from Gail's hand pulling away to bite it , as she chewed she screwed her face up " this is not as nice as it looks " she sulked handing it back to it's owner " yuk"

" I don't want it now " Gail said throwing It on the table next to the couch pushing Holly off her on to her back " I'm hungry for something else" she grinned laying on top of her lover " in fact "she smiled stroking the curve of Holly's left breast " I'm really hungry for something else"

Holly leaned up to kiss Gail fully on the lips " you might have to wait till later, I have an autopsy to get done"

Gail grossed out " ewww way to kill the mood lunchbox "

Holly led back down looking up at the blonde " you know I'm kinda crazy about you"?

Gail looked into the brunettes eyes ,usually she would say something funny or make out how obvious it is and that Holly should be crazy about her . but there in that moment she had nothing, nothing but a redness in her cheeks and a flutter in her stomach.

" I just want to keep you safe " Gail said barely audible

Holly frowned " that's not the kinda reply I was looking for " she joked

"I mean Hol ." Gail became very serious " I don't ever wanna see that look in your eyes again, it haunts me"

"Gail, I wasn't as scared as you think I was" Holly lied "I knew I was gonna be ok, I knew because you were there,"

Gail got up off Holly and on to her feet " I've never felt like this before" she began to pace " I mean I thought I was in love with Chris, but now I kinda realise that it was a different kinda love ya know"?

Holly nodded .. " and then there was nick and I was in love with him, like I thought I was madly in love with him " Gail continued talking more to herself then Holly " but then he went away and that changed, I cheated on him physically cause he cheated on me mentally, and I know that isn't the same and I know I was wrong but when we broke up, I wasn't sad, I was pissed off at him but... I wasn't sad" Gail stopped pacing standing silently like she had just realised something for herself. "So how can I have been madly in love with me"? ..

Holly knew Gail needed to vent so she let her continue only nodding when she needed to ..

"You"? Gail said turning to face Holly " you've made me realise a lot of things about myself , things I probably wouldn't have really tried to understand "

"Like", Holly asked..

"Like it's ok to be me, Gail sighed " like I don't have to be nothing other then myself to be loved, to have someone care about me, to not be afraid of that? To be ok about letting my guard down"

Holly could see she wasn't the only one hearing this for the first time, Gail was telling herself also and letting herself believe it ..

" I'm glad you're you," Holly smiled" and I'm glad I get to be apart of your world "

Gail nodded " Holly we haven't known each other very long and I know it's like days since we kinda agreed to give this ago but," Gail stopped biting the inside of her Mouth, like she was getting he words right in her head before she said them " but I don't actually think I've ever felt like this about anyone"

Holly felt the butterflies in her stomach as she got off the couch " I don't think time has anything to do with love Gail , and I don't think you can stop it, or ignore it, I don't think you can help who you fall for either, but I do know one thing " she bite her lip as she smiled taking the confused looking blonde into her arms " I know that you make me feel good about myself, I know that I'm always smiling and laughing when you're around, even when your grouchy," she teased " I know that there is no where I would rather be then here with you "

Gail blushed " I'm glad I make you smile "

Holly nudged the cops nose with her own " good, now you need to leave before I cry " she giggled " this mushy stuff is to much for me so it much be making you want to dry heave " she joked

" yeah kinda" Gail agreed " what are you doing to me nerd"?

Holly kissed her quickly "you started it"

"Yeah and later I'm gonna finish it Gail joked smacking Holly across the ass as she left " be good .. Stay safe and I'll call you later " she called out as she strutted out of the lab ..

Holly slumped into her chair with a grin on her face, if someone had told her the morning she woke up without Gail, that they would one day soon be telling each other how in love they were ,she would never had believed them " Gail peck" she sighed with a smile ..

"Doctor Stewart ?" The new guard called out " you have a delivery "

Holly frowned jumping up to see what he was taking about " hi"

"For you" he smirks handing her a bouquet of flowers , Holly thanked him with a huge grin , Gail really was full of surprises .. She placed them gently on the table pulling out the card ..

"There are no words that can express how deeply sorry I am .. I won't ask for your forgiveness because I know it's unforgivable .. C

Holly's breath caught in her throat, she never in a million years would have expected this.. "Wow" she whispered ..
