"Sir, release him and put your hands above your head!"
"Let him go!"
"Release him!"
"Put your hands up!"
Callen can hear the three and rather weak security officers yelling in Arabic for him to release the man as they sprint across the foyer with Tasers and radios in hand. Callen doesn't waste time to spend thought on the officers and pulls the suspect from crouching over from being punched and slams him against the wall. The agent presses his forearm against the suspect's neck- not enough to be considering choking, but enough to show that the three officers will have to pull him away before he'll let this idiot go.
"Oh, Tasers…that's disappointing," the suspect gasps under Callen's arm, "I'd hope…..they'd shoot you."
"Where the hell is Sam?" Callen growls. He presses down harder and the sudden yelp from the suspect tells him that he's gone past choking. "What did you do to him?"
"Someone's….about…..to fire…"
Callen glances back behind him to see one of the officers aiming a charged Taser at him. He shoots the officer a threatening glare and mutters, "I'm not letting him go." He keeps his composure even as Callen watches the officer's finger slide towards the trigger. I dare him to do it. I dare him-
"NCIS, put your weapons down and step away from them both!"
Wait, what? Callen watches the officer lower his weapon and step back at the sound of Kensi's voice. Wearing a Kevlar vest and aiming her Sig between the three men, she continues, "I am with NCIS and under US-UAE command, I am ordering you to stand down!"
Two of the officers immediately lower their weapons and the third one panics and drops his weapon. Callen smirks and quickly turns the suspect to face the wall. He looks up towards Kensi again and immediately feels guilty, especially when Deeks walks past Kensi, around both officers and in to the door Sam had disappeared into earlier. Kensi doesn't ask if Callen's ok, who the suspect he has pushed against the wall or Sam's whereabouts. She walks past him and follows Deeks into the ajar door with a passive look towards Callen.
Hell, Callen can't blame her- if he'd been brutally betrayed like Kensi and Deeks had, he wouldn't even bother being disappointed either.
Oh, damn it. Where am I?
The last thing Sam remembers is ducking through the open door at the end of the foyer after the suspicious man in the crisp suit and tie and now he's half-conscious in a heap on the floor in a back hallway. When the SEAL drifts back into being fully conscious, he can hearing a pair of familiar voices arguing above him. Kensi and Deeks are above him- Sam reaches out between the two younger agents for help to stand up and neither attempt to help him.
"Let me explain everything, alright?" Callen calls out as he steps into Sam's view between Kensi and Deeks. Callen takes Sam's hand and pulls him onto his knees. Before Callen can start explaining, Deeks finally explodes.
"Don't bother," the detective snaps. "I should be angry with you, Sam, but I don't care anymore. I don't care about whatever you want to call our relationship- you claim to be my friend, a brother even, and then you pull stuff like this. So I'm done."
"Deeks, I'm sorry-"
"No, you're not," Deeks exclaims and then walks down the hallway and out of sight through the doorway. Kensi shakes her head and takes two steps away from Sam and sighs, "Callen, I'm going to talk to your suspect and take a look at surveillance. Hetty finally arrived and she's at the police station coordinating everything."
"Thanks, Ke-"Callen starts to say, but Kensi follows suit to her partner and walks back to the foyer. Callen holds out his hand again and Sam takes it to pull himself to his feet. Sam then puts his hand on his knees to catch his breath while Callen starts pacing between the walls of the hallway. "goddamnit."
"G, I did what I had to do."
"You took out your earpiece, didn't you?"
Sam suddenly feels a burn on the back of his neck and reaches back to feel a small bump. "G, I was just- I had him! Ah, what the hell is on the back of my neck?"
"A Taser burn," Callen replies without missing a beat. He continues moving between the walls, "You should have waited for me before going after him. You could have been killed and all of this would have been for nothing."
Sam nods in agreement. "Yeah, I was only just…..attacked. Why wouldn't they have just taken me?"
Callen looks behind him where he knows Kensi is on her way or already speaking with the suspect. There's so much about the conversation he had with the suspect that he wants to tell Sam, but time is on the line.
Especially after hearing the man's words- Don't they teach you not to walk into places alone, Agent Callen?
"Alright, here's what we need to do," Callen states. He points to Sam's neck, "Get that checked out and then meet me out front. I'm going to try and talk with the suspect if Kensi hasn't finished with him yet."
"And what about Deeks?"
Sam's guilt ridden tone throws Callen off and the lead agent has to pause to get himself back on track. He's completely empathetic to his partner's guilt, but there's nothing he can find to say. "I don't know if there's anything you can say or do now, Sam. I'm sorry."
