MIXED REVIEWS ON MY LAST CHAPTER WHICH IS FINE.. I MAYBE SHOULD OF MADE IT LONGER SO YOU ALL COULD OF READ THAT GAIL ISNT ALL ABOUT HOLLY TAKING THE BLAME...
Gail and Holly didn't talk much that night, they just laid in each other's arms... They both hadn't slept to well the last few days and it wasn't long before Holly was fully asleep next to the blonde, who happily led there watching her ...
Holly stirred pulling the blankets closer to her body, her hand stretched out to look for her companion but was met by a cold empty space ..
"I smell coffee" she said seconds later her voice full of sleep..
Gail who was stood at the foor of the bed in full uniform just laughed " hey sleepy head"
Holly opened one eye before closing it again and snuggling back into the pillow
"What time is it"?
"Six thirty" Gail replied placing a coffee on the bed side table ..
"Why are we awake"? Holly groaned pulling the blanket higher..
"I gotta go to work and I'm guessing you do too" Gail smiled stroking the top of Holly's head "c'mon drink your coffee"
Holly rolled over on to her back looking at Gail with a smile as the blonde pasted her the mug " you know this is the first time I've slept in your bed"
"yup! But don't get use to it, I much prefer your place"
Holly smiled taking the blondes hand "are we ok"?
Leaning down to place a gently kiss on the brunettes lips Gail hummed " I love you"
That was all the answer Holly needed, she didn't want to talk anymore about the recent events, she figured as long as Gail was with her and they were talking that was all that mattered ..
"Up" Gail ordered, "you can give me a ride to work" ...
Twenty minutes later they were in the car and on their way to fifteen division, the car ride was quiet but not uncomfortable, Gail rested her hand on Holly's thigh the whole time .. " so are you around for lunch"? The pathologist asked as they pulled up..
"I'm not sure what I'm doing until I get inside so ill text you.. Ok"?
"Ok" Holly smiled leaning over for a kiss .. In which Gail backed away "you know I should get you a toothbrush for my place in case you ever show up again" she laughed
"Hey" Holly pouted " I don't have bad breath" breathing on her hand to check.
Gail laughed pulling the Doctor by her collar kissing her hard " I was joking nerd, I gotta go"
Holly waved Gail off and headed home to shower before work ...
Gail got desk duty due to her mishap the day before, Frank wanted her to take it easy, the last thing he needed was Elaine on his case...
It was a quiet day so Gail spent most of it tapping her fingers on the desk, a lady had came in over a missing dog and a drunk had to be booked other then that Gail had been alone... As she sat thinking over the last week she couldn't help but feel guilty,
Holly hadn't told her about Cyrus West because she knew how the blonde would react, did this mean Holly felt like she couldn't talk to Gail ? Was she afraid to go to her?
The more Gail thought about it the more she began to feel a little sick inside...
Holly has quickly became the most important person In her life,she wanted to share everything with the Doctor, she wanted to give herself fully to her and be all that Holly needed in a partner.. So why was it so hard to get that across?...
"Lunch"? X
Gail picked up her phone with a smile.. Texts from Holly still gave her butterflies ..
"Sorry lunchbox,looks like your be eating all your lunch to yourself today, Frank has me on the desk :( "
"Bummer! .. Will I see you later?" X
Holly wanting to see Gail made her giddy, she still couldn't understand how someone as great and wonderful as Holly actually wanted her..
"Always " was Gail's reply..
"Peck? You ok"? Oliver bellowed as she came info view "I heard about what happened with superintendent mom"
Gail just shrugged "who cares"
Oliver laughed "we'll I'm here if you need to talk kiddo"
Gail sat silently for a few seconds before leaving the desk "Diaz"? She called into the bullpen "watch the doors for me"?
Chris didn't get a chance to answer Gail was gone .. She followed Oliver into his office "sir do you have a minute"?
"For you kid? Always,c'mon on in take a seat" he waved .. "What's up"?
Gail hesitated for a moment before closing the door "Ok so I have a problem and I kinda know what I have to do to solve it,...I just don't know how!.
Oliver leaned back into her chair bringing his hands together across his chest "Ok so "? Wait is this about Holly? Are you two still not ok"?
Gail shook her head " No.. . We'll yeah.. I mean yes, we are ok, we kinda sorted things out last night, but" .. Gail sat down with her head bowed " the thing is I've been so mad about giving West a job and not telling me that I didn't see the bigger problem"
"Which is"? Oliver asked gently
"Me" Gail sighed " I mean Holly was wrong for her part and she's apologised none stop for it , last night she came over and poured her heart out to me and she was so hurt that she had hurt me that I actually felt bad about being hurt, does that make sense "?
Oliver laughed "wow you've caught that rambling thing Holly does down well "
Gail laughed under her breath "sorry, it's just the more I think about it,the more I know she only went behind back because I'm a brat and I'm hard work, I'm closed off and she finds that hard to deal with"
Oliver was about to argue that Gail was always to hard on Herself,but left it to her to continue..
"what do you need"?
"I want to let her know that I'm sorry too... That she isn't the only one in the wrong" . Gail sighed heavily looking up to the ceiling " Ollie? I've never felt like this about a person before, I never cared how Chris or Nick felt about the stuff I said or did, but with Holly?"
"It's different"? Oliver said finishing the blondes sentence
Gail blushed a little as she nodded " I'm in love with her Oliver and I want her to feel it, saying it just isn't enough"
"Holly knows Gail, you're different with her, your better maybe"?
"I'm just not good at the relationship thing" Gail sulked "I want to be, but I'm not, and I woulda asked Traci for advise but I know she'll tell Steve and they'll tease me, plus you know, you've been married so that warrants for a lot of make ups over the years right?"
Oliver laughed "I'm also divorced so I wouldn't use that as an example"
Gail laughed under her breath" yeah well you manage to bag Celery and she's young and hot in a weird witchy kinda way, even though you're balding and you're getting old"
Oliver laughed slamming his hands on the table " that's what I love about you Peck, you're never afraid to be yourself and that's a great quality to have, never change"
Gail sucked in her bottom lip" so can you help me"?
Oliver sighed "you know Gail I don't think you give yourself enough credit, I mean just by being you, you've manage to get Holly to fall in love with you, I don't think you need some huge romantic gesture to prove your feelings for her"
Gail stood up placing herself at the window of the office with her back to her Sargent "it's not about proving my feelings Ollie, it's about me wanting Holly to know that I am in this, completely and that it doesn't matter what happens or what she does, she can come to me and not be afraid"
Gail's eyes began to fill with tears " she didn't come to me because she was afraid of how I would react, she's afraid of me Ollie"
"No"... Oliver argued getting up to comfort his favourite Rookie "cmon here"? He said taking Gail by her shoulders to face his" now you listen to me, Holly isn't afraid of you, she just knows how passionate you are, how much you care, how much you love her"
Gail wiped a tear from her cheek " does she"?
Oliver smiled removing another stray year from the blondes cheek " yes!, but if you want to do something for her to show her what she means to you then of coarse I'll help"

Celery? Holly smiled looking a little confused "what brings you down here"?
"Hey Hols, hope you don't mind me stopping by I was just passing" Celery grinned
"Just passing"? Holly frowned " you were just passing the morgue"?
"Well yeah" Celery shrugged "so this is cool" celery said picking up a skull examining it to change the subject... Holly jumped off of her chair "uh yeah it is but it's also the skull of a body I am examining" Holly explained taking the item away ..
"Sorry" Celery cringed "thought it was like a geeky souvenir"
Holly just smiled "so what can i do for you"?
Celery took a seat picking up a pen off the table "so here's the thing, I have this meditation thing tonight just up state a little and I kinda don't want to go alone"
Holly nodded "not Oliver's thing huh?"
Celery titled her head side to side " he's working the late and so is Gail now soooooo I was thinking"? The witch smiled
Holly sat silent for a minute wondering why Gail hadn't told her she was working late..only coming back to the moment when She realised what Celery was asking "Oh you want me to go with you"
"Yeah" Celery clapped" Gail said you're all about fitness and inner strength, love your body and all that.. so this would be prefect for you, for us, I mean we don't know each other that well and this would be a perfect opportunity don't you think"?
Holly mentally reminded herself to kick Gail next time she saw her, yes she was all for keeping her body and mind in good shape but meditation really wasn't her thing .. "I don't know I mean it would be good to hang out with you but ..."
"Great" Celery butted in " can't wait so I'll take this" she grinned picking up one of Holly's "business" cards off the table "and I will text you the address we can meet there"
Holly was in shock that somehow without her actually agreeing she had been railroaded into what would probably be Holly's worse nightmare.. As much as she liked Celery, Holly is all about scientific facts and isn't a believer in "witch craft" so would politely humour Celery on the odd time they had met, Holly wasn't the kind of person to hurt the witch's feelings by telling her she had no interest in her craft ...
"I hate you right now" she sent to Gail, knowing the cop would know exactly why without explanation..

Gail raised her eyes brows having no idea what Holly had meant ..
"Oliver"? She smile at his office door "why does Holly think she's hanging out with a load of witches tonight"?
Oliver finished typing before he looked up at his favourite rookie "Oh ok good so Celery's been to see Holly"
"Celery"? Gail asked shaking her head .."well how else were we going to get Holly to my cabin without her being suspicious"?
Gail frowned and sighed "ok now I'm confused"?
Oliver laughed "you wanted me help right? Well this is me helping, Celery has been to see Holly about some "make believe " he air quoted "meditation class thingy because we are working late.. and Holly being the ever so polite and friendly wouldn't have the heart to say no...right?"
Gail still a little confused as to what the hell was happening but allowed Oliver to continue "right"
"Exactly" the white shirt grinned " I've swung it so you can get off shift early and McNally has agreed to swap shifts with you tomorrow so you can head up to my cabin soon and get prepared..so remember to thank her... Ok? Now leave I'm busy" he laughed waving at her to leave the office..
"Wait wait wait " Gail moaned shaking her head " what"?
Oliver stood with his hands on his hips "you..Holly...My Cabin tonight and tomorrow have fun "he said slowly mocking her a little
"So let me get this straight" Gail sighed "Holly thinks she's going to your cabin with Celery tonight while you and I work late? And I'm suppose to be there when she arrives?"
Oliver began to clap " you got it kid... Have a good night"
"No Oliver, what am I suppose to do when we get there" Gail panicked ..
"I can't do it all for ya kido, I've got Holly there it's down to you to do the rest... But"? He held his finger up in the air " I will just say that at night when the stars are out the lake looks amazing, it's where I proposed to Celery"
"Thanks that's really helpful," Gail sulked slumping into the chair in front of her "I'm not good at the romantic stuff"
Oliver could see the struggle in Gail and felt sorry for her, he knew her better then most " Gail you're great,and I can see how in love you are with the Doc, I suggest you just be yourself and go with it"
Gail rubbed behind her ear " thanks but I'm not confidant"
"Holly won't care, she's happy to just be with you , believe it or not Gail you .. Just you alone is enough"
Gail smiled "what time do I get off"?
Oliver checked his watch "ummm now, go you can take my car I'll get Celery to pick me up" he smiled handing her the keys
"You sure"?
"Go"
Gail showered and changed at the station before heading home sending Holly a quick text ...
"I'm sorry lunchbox I tried to talk her out of it, who knows you might just enjoy it xx"
Holly had replied with something along the lines of "she would rather stick pins in her eyes" but left Gail to continue her shift ..
Gail grabbed an over night bag and head up to the cabin arriving in plenty of time to head into the town to pick up supplies ..
Walking around the small grocery store she stood at the wine counter for what felt like forever .. "Can I help you miss"? An older lady asked with a warm smile ..
"Mmmmm I don't know" Gail mumbled biting her lip ..
"Well you know wine is a complicated thing" the women laughed " I mean certain wines compliment different foods, there are wines you shouldn't drink with strong flavours, there are wines for different occasions "
"Really"? Gail asked sarcastically
"Yes" the women nodded " do you have a special occasion"?
Gail wasn't one to discuss her private life with people she knew let alone strangers but kinda needed all the help she could get right now " well" she hesitated "I kinda wanna do something ... Nice for my girlfriend and well" this was harder then Gail thought " you see I'm not good at the whole feelings thing but I wanna show her that I .. Well that I... "
"Love her" the women smiled
Gail just nodded keeping her eyes on the wine bottles " I just want to make things better for us"
The women touched Gail's arm softly "then you need this" she grinned handing Gail a beautiful looking bottle of wine"
Gail looked it over " eighty five dollars? For wine"? She gasped
"Oh didn't I mention that we have a sale on wine for our favourite customers "the women winked.
"What kinda discount we talking" Gail asked as she followed the lady around the store..
"This wine goes great with strawberries" the women added Placing a tub into Gail's basket," and raspberries help bring the flavour out" again adding to Gail basket " oh wait? What are you cooking"?
Gail bit her bottom lip "I uh haven't got that far yet, I'm not very good at it"
"Well you are in luck because I am a very good cook and it just so happens that i made the most Amazing beef Bourguignon today and always make fair to much for my family
"Gail frowned and was slightly taken back by this women's generosity " I'm sorry who are you "?
"I'm Kate" the women smiled holding her hand out for Gail to shake "and it just so happens that you and I share a friend and he told me you might just need a little help "
Gail's closed her eyes and nodded " ah now I get it, Oliver"?
"Mmmhmmm" Kate nodded "he's a very sweet man, and cares a lot for you"
Gail laughed " yeah he's uh certainly something.. Thank you Kate"
"You are most welcome" Kate winked as she handed Gail the packed bags .."Oliver's covered the bill and dinner is on the stove heat it for maybe twenty minutes"
Gail would have cried had she been a little softer, the length Oliver went to.. To help her over whelmed her " I don't know what to say?.. Thank you again"
"Enjoy your evening Gail" Kate smiled
Once Gail got to the cabin she looked through her grocery bags, Kate had thought of everything from dinner, to dessert to wine to... "What the"? Gail whispered to herself walked out towards the lake , there was a blanket surrounded by candles and flowers, and a small CD player with a cd marked "mix tape" Gail pressed it to hear the sound of soulful slow RnB tracks which made her laugh taking out her phone typing to Oliver..

Celery had messaged Holly details of her evening and promised her she would have the night of her life , Holly's internal monologue begged to differ , she showered and changed and headed straight out sulking about the thirty minute drive a head of her in rush hour traffic, "why me" she moaned .. Her phone picking up her spirits a little seeing Gail's name flash up..
"Hey"
"Hey nerd!you left for your night with Celery yet"
"Yeah but I wish I hadn't, Gail I really do not want to do this"
Gail smiled " I know but it's really nice of you.. I mean Celery really does appreciate it"
"Yeah well you can make it up to me at some point" holly sighed " and I mean like really make it up to me"
"How do you know you won't enjoy it?"
"Gail? Celery is into crystals and magic dust and happy thoughts, you know I don't believe in all that"
"Humour her" Gail said trying not to laugh
"And why so far away"? Holly groaned " I'm not gonna get home to early hours in the morning"
"Look at it this way at least your be relaxed"
"I'm glad you find this funny Gail I really do"
"Ok ok I'm sorry nerd, I promise next time Celery asks if you're free I'll make an excuse"
"You better" Holly warned" ok I'm heading into the wilderness so I'm going to loose reception"

Gail wondered around the cabin rehearsing what she wanted to do and say, Oliver had covered the romantic stuff and dinner,so all was left was for Gail to find a way to open her chest and show Holly her heart ..

Holly pulled up seeing only Oliver's car, "guess it's not a big gathering" she mumbled to herself as she got out the car and slowly walked up to the cabin... She enjoyed the view and the smell of the lake, it was warm and the sun on her face felt good "maybe this isn't so bad" she thought as she went to knock but the door was ajar ..
"Hello?" She called out "Celery.. It's Holly"
"Hey nerd" Gail smiled
"Gail?" The brunette gasped"what are you doing here? I thought you were working"?
Gail just smiled " nope and your be happy to know there is no Celery and no Meditation"
Holly tilted he head " well good.. But uh.. What's going on"?
Gail walked into Holly's personal space placing their lips together gently " I wanted to do something nice for you" she explained taking Holly by the hand leading her into the kitchen " this is Oliver's place,he's loaned it to use for the night"
The smell of dinner hit Holly "wow something smells amazing"
"Yup" Gail agreed turning the stove down before leading Holly out to the back of the cabin ..
Holly was taken back at the sight of the romantic lay out in front of her "Gail? What's all this"?
Gail lead Holly to the blanket urging her to sit as she poured the wine " This is for you"
Holly sipped the wine impressed at the taste" why?"
Gail sat down taking a huge breath rubbing her hands on her thighs " Holly I.. I.. Wanted to do something nice for you, for us, I feel like sometimes I don't do or say enough"
"Gail" holly protested ..
"Can I just get this it"? Gail asked softly " I'm not good at talking and I'm probably going to ramble on about stuff that has no importance but somewhere in the middle of it I'll say what it is I want to get out"
Holly took Gail's hand in her's stroking it with her thumb ..
" Hols? I've always been a brat" the cop began" I've never really cared much for people's feelings, or given a shit if I offend people, that was until I met you" Gail took a moment to look out on to the lake, it really was an amazing view the sun was still up and it was bouncing beautifully off the water ..
" Chris was like a puppy when we dated ,he did as he was told and never challenged me so I treated him like a door mat, then Dov kinda got high on prescription drugs and declared his love for me, Chris saw and he dumped me over it, I kinda laughed it off thinking he would be ok in a day or two but he wasn't, he really did dump me" Gail laughed a little thinking about it " but It didn't really bother me because now when I think about it I didn't love him... Well I loved him but I wasn't in love with him"
Holly watched Gail intensely as she opened up for the first time " and Nick"?
Gail laughed again " aaah Nick which time"? I mean the first time we met I was a waitress I served him bad Coffee and he complained, so naturally I was a bitch to him, we hit it off, the next thing I knew we were in this crazy stupid relationship, he was this loner who rode a motorcycle so instantly my Patents hated him.. Which made me like him more "
Holly laughed "rebel"
"Mmmmm" Gail giggled " God my Mom hated him, so We ran off to Vegas ,Stupidly we were gonna get married but he stood me up and joined the Army.. God I was so in lust with him," Gail whispered sipping her wine taking a moment " then there was round two.. Which was a mistake because it was never meant to be... He went off undercover with Andy and fell for her .. So to make myself feel better I cheated on him.. Pretty much ended that" she laughed as did Holly... " I wasn't in love with them Holly .. It felt like at the time.. But what I feel for you is way more then I ever did for them"
Holly smiled feeling the warmth rise with in her " that makes me happy"
Gail for the first time looked over at her girlfriend " does it"?
Holly nodded " Gail I feel the same, I've been in relationships before and thought I was in love... But.. If this is what love feels like then it's all new to me"
"I'm not good at all this," Gail admitted " I want to be I'm just" she shook her head " I'm cold and I'm mean and..."
"Hey stop that" Holly argued " no you're not,"
"Holly what I'm trying to do here is show you that I'm in this, that I'm here and I want us.. I want you to feel you can come to me with anything"
" I do" Holly protested
"No" Gail shook her head " no you don't.. you didn't come to me over Cyrus, because you just knew I would kick off, that I wouldn't listen and you're right because I did, and I didn't and I hate that, I hate that you felt afraid to come to me"
Holly moved over to face Gail takin her face in her hands " no" she kissed her " that's not it .. I just wasn't sure what I was feeling about it all and I .. I don't know I just .. I'm just so sorry"
Gail shook her head " you don't have to be sorry for being a good person Holly.. It's just who you are and I need to learn that we are built differently and that's ok...I was just so scared about the whole thing I wasn't looking at the bigger picture and I'm sorry Holly.. I'm sorry I'm not everything you need , that I'm not warm enough and open enough to you so you can't come to me"
"stop.. Gail why can't you see that you are more then enough for me? I look at you sometimes and wonder how you could want someone like me"?
Gail wiped a tear from Holly's eye.. " are you fucking kidding me"?
Holly laughed " you're the cool kid and I'm the nerdy one, it's a good job opposites attract huh"?
Gail's face became very serious" I just want you to know that this last week isn't your fault, we're both at fault and I promise you that I am going to try harder to be the best person I can for you"
" Gail you don't have to try to be anything more then you, this weeks been hard yes but... These last few months have been the happiest I've ever been and that's because of you,.. I don't want you to change, I would like you to talk to me more so I know what's going on inside that head of yours but.. To change who are? I would hate that"?
" I hate fighting with you"
"Then don't, let's just draw a line under this last week and start a fresh, because I don't want to ever feel like that again"

That lopsided smile Gail loved show much appeared on Holly's face as she leaned in for a long lingering kiss which Gail took as an invite for cop a feel, pulling Holly down on top of her stroking the skin under the Doctors vest top " you smell good" she whispered as her tongue traced Holly's bottom lip ..
"So does dinner, what is it" Holly asked
Gail rolled Holly over on to her back " I have a confession to make, I was serious about being really bad at all this"
"Are you kidding"? Holly said shaking her head " look around you? This is pretty impressive"
"Mmmmhmmm" Gail agreed " but it's Oliver, he got Celery to get you here, he arranged all this and he been got the local shop owner to cook us dinner "
Holly laughed hard " wow now That is romantic"
Gail screwed her face up " how"?
Holly stroked the side of Gail's face " because it means you went to him for help to make this all perfect and it worked, this is gorgeous and so are you"
Gail kissed the brunette again " gorgeous and hungry, c'mon lets eat so we can come back out before the sun sets"

Gail went ahead to prepare dinner leaving Holly led on the blanket looking up at the sky, her heart filled with excitement she couldn't believe Gail .. Her Gail had gone out of her way to do this for her after what had happened, right there in that moment she didn't think she had ever been happier, she knew her life with Gail would never be boring or plain sailing but she knew if they worked at it .. It would be amazing..
"Lunchbox"? Gail called out "you gonna stay there all night"?
Holly rolled on to her front so she could see the blonde " I'm coming"
Holly sat at the table while Gail lite the candles " I know they don't have quite the same effect with it still being light outside" she laughed lighting the last one ..
"That's easily sorted" Holly smiled getting up to shut the curtains sending the cabin into darkness " romantic enough"?
"Perfect" Gail grinned" ok so I didn't cook this but from the smell I'm guessing it's gonna be amazing"
"I would happily eat cheese puffs and donuts as long as it's with you" Holly mumbled as she nuzzled into Gail neck..
"Liar" Gail laughed stroking the back of Holly's head as she hugged her "you hate junk food"
"Ok but you know where I'm going with it"
Gail shifted the Doctor around a little to serve up "wow this looks amazing"
Holly wrapped herself around Gail kissing her neck "you know that would still taste good a little later" she swooned causing Gail to blush , the thought of having sex with Holly rocked Gail's core, but she wanted the night to go as she planned .. "As much as I would love to have you naked right now , I really want us to watch the sunset, and Ollie said the stars look amazing over the lake..
Holly's eyebrows raised " am I hearing this actually coming out of Gail Pecks mouth? Gail Peck are you being cute?"
"Hey hey hey" Gail sulked "let's not be stupid now" she pulled Holly into her kissing her quickly" I just want tonight to be perfect"
"Gail what ever we did tonight would have been perfect to me, you know that right? As much as I am completely in love with all this, I Would have been just as happy to veg out on my couch with you watching a movie" Holly smiled stroking Gail's eyebrow..
"I know but tonight is about drawing a line under the stupidness of last week and starting a fresh" Gail explained " Hols? This is my way of showing you that I don't want anyone else, I don't want to be cold and distant from you, I want you to know that I am here,... Always"
Holly wiped her eye "they're happy tears I promise" she laughed " have I told you how much I love you"?
Gail smiled tapping Holly's butt with her left hand "nope but you can show me later, right now I want to eat"
"Of coarse you do" Holly teased sitting opposite Gail taking her fork to dig in to her meal " wow.. This is gorgeous" she hummmmed ..
"Telling me "Gail agreed through a mouthful of food .. "Bread"?
The meal was almost over and the pair had talked about random stuff,until Holly felt an itch to ask a question that she had been wondering about all day"

Holly followed Gail back to the lake sitting down tapping the space between her legs for Gail to sit.. As Gail she the pathologist wrapped her arms around her Resting her chin on the dip of the blondes shoulder "can we stay her forever"?
