*Chapter 24: Lives Fall Apart*
*One and a half years later*
"Chie, Skip, I'm home!" Yu walked into the house. Chie was standing by the television, looking outside the window at group of birds that had just made their nest in the small cherry tree they had planted out back.
"Can we have a talk?" Chie asked Yu.
"Sure," Yu said as he put his stuff down, "What did you want to talk about?"
"So… it's been two years since we really talked about this…," Chie looked over at Yu, "You've gotten a nice raise at the school, I've gotten a nice raise as an officer... Yu," Chie continued to look at Yu waiting for a reply.
"I think I know where this is going," Yu smiled.
"It's about time…" Chie said in a sing-songy voice as she walked over to Yu and put her arms around him and her head on his chest, "Wouldn't you agree?"
"It's going to be a lot of hard and dirty work, but it'll be worth it," Yu looked her deep in the eyes, "I mean I'll have to do most of the work obviously."
"Are you implying my role in this is the easy part?" Chie scolded him.
"You get sit there while it gets built and enjoy the final product, but we both will use it," Yu smiled, "Alright Chie… let's build a pool."
"What?" Chie said in shock.
"A pool!" Yu sounded so excited, "Think about it, we can build it in the backyard and we'll be the envy of everyone in town! We can invite the whole gang over for cookouts and go swimming in the summer everyday!"
"I was talking about having a baby!" Chie said, "I'm almost thirty, you're almost thirty! Yosuke and Yukiko have two year old twins; Rise and Teddie have a one year old! Kanji and Naoto are going for a baby as soon as they get back in a couple of months! Let's have a baby; my biological clock is ticking down!"
"I don't know," Yu had shelved this discussion many times, "I just don't know if I'm ready yet. We could still have kids at forty."
"Pfftt… FORTY? Come on! Don't you want a family?" Chie pleaded, "Tick…tick…TICK!" All Yu could think of was the same words uttered by his father, who as Yu grew older seemed to be right about more and more things.
"I mean… aren't you happy with Skip?" Yu asked her as he looked over at Skip who was chewing on a plastic dog bone they had bought for him, "Maybe we could get another dog, what about a nice big one?"
"Skip is awesome, but he's no baby," Chie was still pleading, "Please! Imagine the happiness a child will bring! Teaching them how to walk and read and we can play ball and go to the beach and walking him to school and be a family."
"I… I'm sorry Chie, I just need to think about it for a little while," Yu said as he walked away from her.
*The next day*
"He just doesn't want to have a kid and I don't know why," Chie was complaining to Yukiko at The Amagi Inn. She was on her break, the two enjoying some coffee, "Were your kids really not planned?"
"Well, we always kinda had it on the table and one night we had a little too much to drink and we weren't being the most responsible and…" Yukiko explained as she took a sip, "Now here we are, two kids deep."
"I just don't know what to do," Chie sighed as she put her head down, "Maybe I could just get him drunk and lead him into accidentally getting me pregnant… oh, but Yu would hate me and the kid forever!"
"I have an idea, me and Yosuke were thinking about taking a romantic weekend, why don't you two come over and watch the kids for a couple of days?" Yukiko comforted her, "Yu hasn't spent more than a couple of hours with the kids, it'll be good for you two, get some hands on experience with parenting as well as for me and Yosuke to get some time off."
"That's genius Yukiko," Chie smiled, "Yu will have so much fun with those kids he'll want one of his very own!"
"I'll make the arrangement when I get home," Yukiko told Chie who was now excited at finally getting something she really wanted, a baby.
*A couple weeks later*
"Thanks for watching over the kids," Yosuke told Yu and Chie as he carried a couple small suitcases out of the house.
"Anything we should know?" Yu asked Yosuke.
"Nothing that dramatic," Yosuke said, "Just make sure they're fed and go to bed on time, and don't just feed them junk food dude. Nari really likes her blanket too, so don't try to pry it away from her." Yosuke started the car up as Yukiko brought the kids to the door, giving them each a kiss goodbye.
"Be good with Chie and Yu," Yukiko told them, "Daddy and I will be back soon, we love you very much." Yukiko walked away to the car, both her and Yosuke waving goodbye.
"Buh Daddy!" Nari said as she began to suck the back of her hand, carrying her blanket in tow in the other hand. Yasuhiro was waving as the car drove off.
"Alright, let's head inside," Chie said to the two children as they all went into the house.
*A couple hours later*
"What animal is this?" Chie said to the two kids, holding up a small little giraffe in the little set of plastic animals they had on the living room floor, neither of them responding, "It's a giraffe, can you say giraffe? Gi-raf-fe," she sounded it out for them. Yu was sitting on the couch near them, watching Chie who had a huge smile on her face.
"Jaf," Yosuhiro muttered out.
"Close, but very good!" Chie smiled, "Yu, come play with us!" Chie asked him; "Tell Yu to come play with us!" she looked at the kids who were now focused on some other animals. Chie got up and sat next to Yu. "Come on, play with the kids."
"They're happy on their own," Yu smiled to her, "I don't want to get in the way."
"Why are you so hesitant around these kids?" Chie asked Yu, "You never ask to hold them or play with them. Just… why?"
"I'm just not a kid person," Yu shrugged, "I got along with Nanako back when she was seven, but she was so mature for her age, if she was younger I don't think that I would've gotten along with her that well."
"Just try it," Chie pushed Yu off the couch, sitting him down next to the kids, "You never know unless you try."
"Hi Nari, Yosuhiro," Yu said as the two looked up at him, "You guys like these animals?" He picked up a small figure of a horse, "See the horse, he gallops," Yu said as he began to pretend to have the figure gallop, accidentally hitting it too hard against the ground and snapping one of the legs, causing Yosuhiro to start crying. "Sorry!" Yu began to back pedal as Nari started crying too. Chie ran over, picking them both up and comforting them.
"It's only a toy," she told the both of them as Yu stood up.
"I'm so sorry you two," Yu took a step forward, followed by a big crunch as Yu realized he stepped on a bunch of the animals. Nari and Yosuhiro began to sob some more, Yu feeling like absolute shit and useless as Chie comforted the two.
*Dinner*
"Are you two enjoying your spaghetti?" Chie asked as Nari and Yosuhiro messily ate theirs bowels, sauce all over their faces and bibs. Yu was watching silently, not wanting to upset the two again. Chie was eating a small bowl herself, watching as the two kids continued to make quite a mess.
"Yeah!" Yosuhrio smiled, "Milk!" he shouted as he held out his sippy cup.
"Can you say please?" Chie smiled, "Please can I have some more milk?"
"Milk please!" Yosuhiro said.
"Please!" Nari held her cup out too.
"Such polite kids, good job!" she grabbed the cups from them, "Yu, can you wipe them off?" Chie got up and tossed him a damp rag. Yu nervously leaned over, starting to clean Nari's face. She flung a big chunk of noodles right at Yu, striking him right in the face, followed by Yosuhiro crying for no reason.
"I can't do this!" Yu slammed his fist down on the table, causing Nari to start crying.
"Yu!" Chie scolded him as Yu got up and left the room to go clean his face, Chie having to look after two crying kids. Yu stormed into the bathroom, starting the sink up as he grumbled to himself.
"What was that all about?" Chie walked into the bathroom.
"I just can't do this! I'm not good with kids!" Yu started yelling, "Everything I do is wrong! They cry and then they crap themselves and they throw up and it just keeps on repeating!"
"If you're going to be a father you need to learn," Chie shouted.
"I don't even want to be a father!" Yu yelled back, both of them shocked that the truth came out. Every word of that sentence stung Chie like a bullet to the heart.
"You don't want kids?" Chie stuttered, some tears welling up in her eyes.
"I… no," Yu said, "I'm no good with kids, Yosuke and Yukiko have just looked so miserable and tired over the past couple of years and they barely get to hang out with us anymore, I don't want my life to become like that. I can't lose all my friends like this! Kanji and Naoto are god knows where right now, Teddie and Rise are halfway across the globe! It's like my life before I came to Inaba, barely any real connections! I'm going nuts Chie!"
"Yu…" Chie was crying now. As Yu went to comfort her she pushed him away and ran up the stairs crying, the two kids still crying their eyes out in the kitchen. Yu walked back in to see nothing but two messy little toddlers.
Upstairs, Chie had called her mother and was explaining everything over the phone as best she could over her tears.
"An-And then he said he didn't want to have a BABY!" Chie sobbed.
"Oh… it's okay, he doesn't mean that," Chie's mother comforted her.
"Yes he does!" Chie said, "That means I'll never g-g-get a baby! And y-y-y-ou'll never be a grandmother."
"Chie, it's okay, he just needs some more time," Chie's mother was trying to calm her mother down, "Someday he'll see that having a kid is a good thing."
"No he won't!" Chie slobbered on her phone, "He-He-He's not the man I married."
"Hey Chie…" Yu knocked on the door.
"I gotta go," Chie said goodbye to her mother and hung up, "Go away!"
"I got the kids to calm down now…" Yu said, "Listen, since the truth is coming out, I think it's a good thing we can talk about this now… I know that having kids to you is a big deal, but I don't want any… so we need to work this out."
"Are you absolutely certain you don't want kids," Chie said between tears.
"Yes," Yu said
"Okay," Chie calmed herself, "I… I want a divorce!"
"Chie! Come on, you don't mean that!" Yu stuttered at the words. Never in all their years together had Chie even brought up the idea of divorce to him, they were happily married and love each other dearly, could having a baby really mean this much to her? Yu always knew it would end this way in terms of the whole baby thing, "Chie, let me in."
"No! I want a divorce! If you won't have a baby with me, then I don't want to be with you anymore!" Chie shouted.
"Chie…" Yu put his head on the door. As Yu thought about what to say next, Chie flung the door open, still crying.
"I don't love you anymore!" Chie said.
"W-What?" Yu backed away, "That's a tad bit harsh Chie!"
"It's true! The Yu Narukami I married would never feel that way about kids!" Chie said, "You're just a coward!"
"Then I guess you didn't really know me when you married me!" Yu was pissed off now; Chie was taking it way too far.
"I guess I married the wrong man!" Chie said.
"I guess you did!" Yu said back.
"Fine, then we're getting divorced!" Chie slammed the door, "And I'll raise my own baby with your alimony checks! Still going to be a father Yu Narukami!" Chie mocked him through the door.
"As if you'll get alimony!" Yu slammed on the door, "If anything I'LL get the alimony checks!"
As she was about to say something, Yu's cell phone went off, Yu looking to see that Yosuke was calling.
"Hello?" Yu asked.
"Yukiko and I are just checking in, making sure that everything is alright," Yosuke said over the phone, "The kids treating you good?"
"… Yeah, no problem," Yu calmed himself down, "Everything is… fine for now."
"Okay cool, me and Yukiko just wanted to check in like I said," Yosuke said, "Okay?"
"K," Yu said.
"So… bye." Yosuke hung up the phone. The two entered their hotel room. They were staying at a very familiar place for the both of them, one of the rooms at a fancy hotel in a certain part of Tatsumi Port Island they visited back in their second year of high school.
"This place hasn't changed much," Yosuke looked around as he set his suitcase down. The walls were recently painted, a nice dark purple to cover up any stains and the bed was a darker velvet red with a few pillows of a lighter red.
"I need a shower," Yukiko began to unbutton her shirt.
"I'll…uh… watch from here I guess," Yosuke laughed as he looked at the shower. It had a built in glass wall so that you could see what was going on in there.
"You're really going to watch me shower?" Yukiko asked.
"I mean, it's hard not to notice the glass wall next to me… and the beautiful naked woman inside," he hugged Yukiko from behind.
"You could use a shower too you know," she whispered into his ear.
"That I could," the two walked off together.
*Fifteen Minutes Later*
"Ah, much better," Yosuke said as he was digging deep into his scalp with sudsy hands, the stream of shower water just behind him running down his back. He had felt of sweat and grime since coming to this place, mostly because Yosuke had been out with Yukiko all day and running around the town. Yosuke rhythmically moved his body back and forth with his hands, washing away all the troubles he felt.
"Yosuke, can you wash my lower back?" Yukiko asked. Yukiko was bent over right in front of Yosuke for obvious reasons, her hands pressed up against the glass window.
"No problem," he moved his hands down to her sides and began to massage her lumbar.
"That feels really good Yosuke," Yukiko smiled.
"The soap?" he asked.
"No, you," she giggled.
"You feel really good too," he laughed as well, throwing his head back to let the water rinse all the soap off his hair. The two quickly spun around, Yukiko lifting herself into Yosuke's arms as he was pinned against the wall as she began to rinse off her body, "You wanna do anything tonight besides this? A movie or dinner, maybe both… not that I don't mind this."
"Actually," Yukiko smirked, "I'd kinda like to go to Club Escapade tonight."
"Club Escapade?" Yosuke asked.
"Yeah, it'll be fun!" Yukiko said, "Don't tell me that you never wanted to take me out and show me off!"
"I don't think we'd really fit in there. We are kinda… old," Yosuke said.
"We're both not even 30 yet!" Yukiko pushed him, "Don't call me old."
"I'm just saying, it's all people who are in their early twenties, we're gonna stand out!" Yosuke slightly pushed her back.
"Come on Yosuke!" Yukiko told him, "I'll show you that we aren't that old yet, at least that I'M not old… Mr. Amagi."
"I'm not old at all Yukiko," he pinned her against the wall; "I still got a lot of spry in me."
"That you do," she grunted and laughed.
*Later that night at Club Escapade*
"This music is a little loud!" Yukiko shouted. Yosuke and her were on the dance floor with a large crowd, some band playing that they had never heard of before was blasting through the place. Waitresses moved just on the outskirts of the florescent crowd to deliver drinks while people were grinding up next to one another.
"What?" Yosuke yelled back.
"I SAID THE MUSIC IS A LITTLE LOUD!" Yukiko looked at him.
"YEAH I LIKE THE MUSIC TOO!" he smiled. The two continued to dance while being squished between various people who were getting their groove on as well. Yukiko was very uncomfortable because ever guy that passed by her seemed to rub their body right up against hers. Yosuke however was upset no girls were coming up to him to dance. Yukiko was just about to suggest to Yosuke to leave and get a drink when a large fat man, maybe three times her age came up and put his hands on her hips.
"Hey little girl, wanna dance," he pressed his mouth right up next to her ear and whispered, his breath stinking of onions and some sort of cheesy horseradish sauce.
"Uh, no!" she ducked and began to leave the crowd.
"Yukiko!" Yosuke chased after her. The two met up outside the crowd and caught their breath, drenched in their own and other's sweat.
"That wasn't fun," Yukiko said, "I don't like crowds like that…"
"You're fine," Yosuke said, "Nobody… touched you like that, did they?"
"They did, it's hard to avoid stuff like that in a crowd like that," Yukiko told him. The band stopped to change to a different song as the crowd continued to rant and cheer.
"Sorry…" Yosuke said, "I should've stopped them."
"No, it's no problem," Yukiko smiled, "It comes with this culture of places like this… this was never really my scene. I just wanted to go out with you for one night and act like two young irresponsible adults again rather than just a mom and dad."
"I'm having fun," Yosuke said as he glanced over at the bar, "It's not like we have to go home tomorrow… we can still get very very drunk and have lots and lots of fun." He grabbed Yukiko who giggled as the two walked to the bar. They ordered a couple of fruity drinks and pounded them down in no time, quenching their thirst. Yosuke looked over at another table were a couple of young ladies caught eyes with him, the two exchanging flirtatious looks with him as he did the same.
"What are you doing?" Yukiko asked.
"N-nothing!" Yosuke smiled nervously.
"We're you flirting with those girls?" she asked.
"No no no… two more screwdrivers please!" he told the bartender.
"You were," Yukiko gasped.
"No! I swear I wasn't trying to," Yosuke began to plead.
"Are they into you?" Yukiko smiled, "You should go try and get their numbers!"
"What?" he asked.
"It'll be fun! That's what guys do at these places, try to score with girls!" She smiled, "I CAN BE YOUR WINGMAN!" Yukiko began to giggle as Yosuke considered the possibly horrible implications of the events to come.
"You really want to help me hit on women?" he asked.
"Yeah!" She said.
"You're my wife you know?" he asked her as the bartender set the drinks down.
"I know, it's harmless fun," she grabbed her drink and handed it to him, "Now let's go and get some digits!" the two walked over to the girls.
"Hey…uh, ladies," Yosuke straightened up, "I got you two drinks," he placed them down for the girls.
"Screwdrivers?" she giggled, "Those are like… old people drinks."
"Oh, sorry…" Yosuke began to rub his arm as Yukiko rolled her eyes.
"He just wanted to be nice, besides he's got a lot of money to burn," Yukiko chimed in to save the day.
"What's your name?" one of the girls asked Yosuke.
"I'm Yosuke Ama… Hanamura," he corrected himself.
"Yosuke AmaHanamura?" the girl asked, "That's a weird last name."
"Yeah… it kinda is," he laughed, "I work at Junes."
"Pfft… work!" Yukiko seductively fake laughed, "You never heard of AmaHanamura?" Yukiko gasped, "He's the heir to the entire Junes Foundation!"
"Junes? As in that huge megastore location?" she asked.
"Indeed, I'm his personal secretary… and one of his many lovers," Yukiko squeezed him.
"Well… he is pretty cute… I can see why you have multiple lovers," she giggled.
"That's right!" Yosuke straightened up even more, totally confident in the lie, "And if you haven't noticed I think the two of you are very striking… I wouldn't mind taking you with me on my father's yacht."
"You're father's yacht?" she snickered.
"Mine's in the shop after I sailed it through a hurricane," he snorted, "I'll be taking my father's out to Europe, I'm sure you two would look very dashing in the finest of European fashions."
"Europe…" she gazed at him, "That's amazing!"
"It is, I can invited you two along, just give me your numbers," Yosuke said as the two quickly dashing for a pen and paper in their purses, "I'd take you along with me tonight, but I have a ton of Junes business meetings tomorrow!"
"Here, take them," they handed them to Yosuke, "Call us… we'll be waiting… and if you'd like a preview of what's to come…" she pulled the top front of her dress down slightly, revealing an ample amount of cleavage to the two, "just ask."
"Will do," he winked and turned around with Yukiko still in his arms. The two began to walk away as Yosuke completely lost his shit as soon as they were out of sight, "HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AWESOME! TWO HOT CHICKS NUMBERS!"
"You wouldn't have gotten them without me," Yukiko corrected him.
"I so would've," Yosuke yelled at her.
"No you wouldn't have, you were bombing out there until I save you," she crossed her arms, "It's just natural to me, easy!"
"Oh really, if it's so easy for you then go get that hot guys number right there at the bar," Yosuke pointed to a man in a tight white t-shirt with huge forearms.
"Okay," she walked over to him, "Hi, you're kinda cute, can I have you're number so we can get some dinner and go back to your place for some fun!" she smiled at him.
"Sure," he quickly handed her a business card, "My cell is on their!"
"Thanks," she turned around and handed the card to Yosuke as the two headed to the door to leave the club.
"That's not fair Yukiko! We all can't be hot chicks like you!" he whined. As the two left Yosuke crumpled up the sheets of paper with the numbers on them and threw them into the trash, the two looking around for something to do next.
"There's a café next to us… a karaoke bar…" Yukiko was looking around.
"That arcade looks pretty cool," Yosuke said.
"You wanna do that?" Yukiko asked.
"I thought you didn't like video games?" Yosuke asked.
"I don't, but you went to the club when I wanted to go," Yukiko smiled, "It's your turn now. What's fair is fair."
"Really… sweet!" He grabbed Yukiko and ran to the opposite side of the mall.
*Half an Hour Later*
"I got him!" Yukiko was giggling as Yosuke watched her blast away bug eyed aliens on the screen with a fake machine gun.
"Be careful watch out for the…" Yosuke tried to warn her, but a huge green blast of bug guts covered the screen as the words GAME OVER were painted in purple alien blood.
"I got one of the high scores!" Yukiko blasted at the letters to spell YUKIKO out, "That was fun!" she was having a great time with Yosuke, having a terrific time playing all the games they could, "What should we do next? Do you wanna try the trivia game or the hunting game or… THE PHOTO CLUB!" she pulled Yosuke along.
"The photo booth," Yosuke asked as she pulled back the curtain and pulled him inside, "This isn't really a game." Yukiko was grinning as she pulled the curtain shut and pushed some money into the machine, "What kind of photos do you want to do? Because I…" before Yosuke could finished Yukiko ducked down and pulled Yosuke's pants and underwear down with her, "Yukiko! I… holy mother of god!" Yosuke gasped as the photos were being taken. Yukiko had put in a large denomination bill so there were a ton of photos that were being taken of Yosuke, "Yukiko, what if someone…" Yosuke was trying to interject, but the pleasure he felt from both Yukiko's mouth and the fact they were doing this in public was too much for Yosuke and soon it was over.
"That was fun," Yukiko wiped her mouth as Yosuke quickly did his pants up as they stepped out of the booth. Yukiko grabbed all the pictures from the slot and began to look over them and soon went into a giggle fit over all the faces Yosuke was making during their session, "YOSUKE!" she snorted, "Look at your face, it's so scrunched up! She shoved the photos in his face.
"I'd really rather not," Yosuke pushed the photos down. Yukiko quickly whipped out another bill and went back inside, "What are you doing?"
"Now we're gonna see what I look like when you do that to me!" she smiled.
"Hmmm," Yosuke looked as Yukiko dropped her short skirt and panties in the booth, "I guess what's fair is fair." He entered the booth and pulled the curtain shut.
*Two Days Later*
"Daddy!" little Yosuhiro ran out the door and grasped onto Yosuke's leg as soon as he stepped out of the car. Nari soon following and grabbing a hold of Yosuke's other leg.
"Did you miss me, you two?" Yosuke laughed as he tried to walk with the two kids holding on tightly. Yukiko giggled as she got out of the car too, Yu and Chie standing quietly at the front of the house, not looking at each other.
"How were they?" Yosuke asked them.
"Perfect," Chie said.
"Yep," Yu said.
"That's good to hear," Yukiko picked up Yosuhiro from Yosuke's leg, "So Yu, are you getting used to kids now?"
"No," he said bluntly, "In fact, me and Chie came to an understanding."
"Really? What is this understanding?" Yosuke asked.
"We're getting a divorce," Chie said as the two friends both gasped.
"Divorce?" Yukiko said, "Y-you can't!"
"Come on man, you two have been together longer than any of us, can't you work it out?" Yosuke pleaded.
"Nope," Chie sighed, "I want kids, he doesn't and I'm not getting any younger so it's time that I find a person who wants to have a family."
"But that's YU!" Yukiko said.
"I really don't want kids," Yu sighed.
"YES YOU DO!" Yukiko shoved Yosuhiro into Yu's arms, "Look how wonderful he is! Come on!"
"I'm sorry, but this is our choice," Yu gave Yosuhiro back, "We've made our decision." The two walked off to their car as Yosuke and Yukiko held their children and watched them leave
"We should do something!" Yukiko panicked to Yosuke.
"I don't know if there's anything we can do," Yosuke frowned with Yukiko as they stood in complete shock. Yu and Chie were getting a divorce.
*Later that night*
"YOU'RE SLEEPING ON THE COUCH!" Chie threw a pillow at Yu outside the bedroom.
"Why the hell should I sleep on the couch?" he asked, "I paid for the damn bed."
"Actually, I bought it if you remember correctly," Chie coughed out, "You only bought the pillows and this one blanket!" she threw a small thin white blanket at him as well and then slammed the door shut.
"I swear when we get divorced I'm taking that damn bed with me," he shouted through the door, "And I'm taking Skip with me!"
"SKIP is MY dog, you got him for ME!" she said.
"I got him, not YOU!" he was walking down the stairs now, "He's my dog and he'll be mine forever. He's more loyal and loving than any child ever would be!" Yu got no response from Chie. Yu plopped himself down on the couch, resting his head against the pillow on the armrest.
"Chie is so ungreatful," Yu closed his eyes and thought, "I've done so much for her and this is how she repays me. Almost 10 years of marriage and this is the thanks I get, sleeping on the goddamn couch. She'll come around, she always does."
Upstairs Chie was holding her pillow tightly in bed with tears rolling down her eyes, "Damn it Yu! Why! Why does it have to end like this! What is wrong with you, when did you become such an asshole? Was it something I did… it can't be…" The two laid in bed for some time now, the both drifting off to sleep where they were visited by memories of the past. For Yu, he dreamt of that Christmas Eve he spent with Chie and for Chie she remembered New Years of their third Year in high school when she finally introduced him to her family.
*December 24, 2011*
"Wipe that stupid grin off your face!" Chie scolded Yu, but to no avail, "Idiot…"
"Say it," Yu teased her.
"N-no!" Chie blushed.
"Come on," Yu got up and sat down next to her, "Say it."
"Yu stop it!" She turned away as Yu put his hands on her and pulled her into tight for a hug.
"Come on, say it!" he began to tickle her.
"S-S-Stop!" She began to giggle as Yu was furiously moving his fingers along the sides of her body.
"Say what you want to do with me," Yu said, "Come on Chie, it's a normal thing people in relationships do eventually, you're going to have to say it or we won't do it."
"Fine, just stop!" she said with tears in her eyes from all the tickling. Yu stopped as Chie caught her breath, still red from excitement, "I…" Chie let out another giggle.
"Chie…" Yu moved his hands back into tickling position.
"Fine! God you're so stubborn!" Chie sighed, "Yu Narukami, I want to have… sex with you."
"I want to have sex with you too Chie Satonaka," he replied as the two continued to look at each other.
"So…" Chie said.
"So…" Yu said right back.

Chie followed as she took off her green coat and tossed it onto the table, only her white silk sleeveless shirt and a smaller blue one underneath remained. Yu tossed his shirt aside, standing in nothing but his pants now.
"Okay…shirt," Chie said as she was trembling with her hands on the outer shirt. She took a deep breath, counting to three before pulling it above her head and tossing it by Yu's shirt. Now she was in a very thin blue shirt she wore underneath everything, doing the same with that until she stood with a pink bra on, "Do you want me to remove the bra too," she blushed as she began to remove her wristbands.
"You can keep it on for now," Yu said, "I guess the next thing that would be easiest to remove would be your…our… our pants," Yu reached down to the belt buckle and undid it with the button and fly of his jeans.
"I have a skirt and spats on," Chie told him.
"Okay," Yu said as he let go of his pants, falling to his ankles. Yu stepped out of him, standing in a pair of plain dark blue boxers in front of Chie. Yu slightly adjusted himself when Chie wasn't looking in embarrassment of his body, though soon he wouldn't have anything to hide from Chie.

"Probably not, but we're young and Dojima wasn't too upset," he held her hand. The two walked up to the offering box, tossing in a few loose coins before closing their eyes and making their prayers.
"What did you pray for?" Yu asked.
"I prayed for us," Chie said.
"I prayed for everyone… but mostly us too," Yu smiled as he leaned in and kissed Chie. The two continued to hold hands as the couple walked up to the fortune box to pick their fortunes. Yu picked the one right off the top as Chie dug deep next to him.
"…Terrible luck," he frowned.
"I got a mild blessing!" Chie smiled, "Well we picked out fortunes… wanna go get some coffee at Junes?"
"Why not your place?" Yu asked.
"Because my whole family is there! And not just my mom and dad, I'm talking about a bunch of my aunts and uncles and their kids!" Chie blushed.
"Come on, I'd like to meet them," Yu said, "I'm going to have to meet them eventually you know."
"I know," she pouted, "They just are going to tease me, they gave me such crap about wearing my kimono again for my boyfriend."
"Don't you wanna show them your boyfriend," Yu teased her, "Or am I really ugly and you're ashamed to be with me?"
"No, they'll think you're out of my league!" Chie sighed, "You know how much they'll gawk at you and ask you questions and stuff."
"Chie," he stopped her from blabbing on, "Let's go to your place and grab a cup of coffee."
"No!" she panicked as Yu began to walk away from the shrine, "Yu, please don't do this, my heart can't take it." Chie continued her relentless pleas to get Yu to stop, but on her continued to her house with her in tow. Finally, after no avail Chie and Yu arrived outside her house.
"Here we are," Yu smiled as Chie's face was a mixture of red and blue from all the emotions.
"I can't do this…" she squealed out as Yu dragged her to the door. As the two faced the door, Yu stepped to the side and motioned for her to go in.
"I think you should introduce me," Yu smirked again as Chie was shaking in place. Chie let out a couple of nervous laughs, knowing there was no way out of this now. She opened the door, walking in on the family reunion taking place in The Satonaka household.
"Chie, you're back!" her mom said.
"Yeah… I brought… uh, Yu with me," she said.
"Oh, the boyfriend," one of Chie's relatives smiled, "I can't wait to meet him!"
"Yeah…" Chie sighed as she opened the door for him, Yu walking in with a smile on his face.
"Hello," he slightly bowed.
"Wow, he is handsome, just like you said!" one said to Chie's mom.
"MOM!" Chie groaned.
"I try very hard," Yu smiled, "Me and Chie came back for some coffee."
"Well you're in luck, we just made a fresh pot," Chie's mother said. Yu and Chie both got a cup and settled down on the couch, introducing Yu to her relatives as Chie sat in horror.
"I like it here in Inaba, its nice and quiet," Yu told them, "It was odd at first, going to sleep with the sound of silence instead of cars and sirens, but I got used to it." Yu was making a great impression with Chie's relatives.
"Chie, you're so lucky to have such a nice young man as your boyfriend," one of Chie's relatives said to her.
"If anything, I'm the lucky one," he took Chie's hand, "I love her so much and she loves me."
"Yeah… I… love you," Chie almost threw up right on the spot as all of Chie's relatives went gaga all over Yu's romantic words. Yu could swear he saw Chie's father throw up in his mouth right there before swallowing it back down, "Can we go? I kinda want to get out of this kimono."
"Sure, go get changed honey," Chie's mother said.
"Okay," she got up off the couch, beginning to walk away from her family and Yu when she realized something. She couldn't leave Yu alone with her family, who knows what they would gossip about without her around, "Yu, can you help me?" Chie asked and then realized what she just asked Yu to do in front of her family, "Wait, no… just… ugh!" she ran up the stairs embarrassed.
"She's so cute when she's embarrassed," one of Chie's relatives said as a couple more giggled.
Upstairs, Chie was frantically getting undressed from her kimono, still red from the whole exchange.
"Stupid… idiot…" Chie panted as she couldn't contain herself.
"Chie?" Yu asked with a knock at the door, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," Chie went to the door in her bra and panties, pulling Yu in and quickly shutting the door, "I hate you!"
"Hate me? For what!?" Yu asked.
"You know!" Chie told him.
"I like you're family and they like me," Yu told Chie, "Except for your father, but that's to be expected of him right now." Chie was still red.
"Tell you what," Yu sat her down on the bed, "You and I can stay up here until they leave."
"No! They'll gossip about what we're doing up here!" Chie said as Yu began to kiss her neck.
"Who cares? Let them gossip," Yu said, "You worry too much you know."
"Yu! Stop!" Chie said as Yu began to remove her bra, "They'll hear us!"
"Not if we are really…really…really quiet," Yu whispered in her ear, each word quieter than the last, "We've done it in a quieter house than this one." Yu continued to kiss Chie. "Chie," Chie heard a voice whisper to her, "Chie!" Chie thought it was Yu at first, but it was too high pitched for Yu's voice and Yu was right next to her, naked in her arms under the covers. As Chie rolled over and opened her eyes, she gasped as she saw her mom in front of her with a tray.
"Mom!" Chie pulled the covers up to her face, "Mom get out!"
"I thought the two of you might be thirsty and hungry so I made ants on a log and brought some juice boxes up for you!" she smiled.
"Mom! This is so weird!" Chie said as Yu was now up.
"Oh sweet, apple juice!" Yu said, "Thanks Mrs. Satonaka," Yu grabbed one of the boxes.
"How are you two so cool about all of this?" Chie cried out.
"I'm just trying to be nice," Chie's mom said, "You two are consenting adults and I don't care what you do in your free time… as long as you're being safe though, you are far too young to be a mom."
"Chie will make a great mom someday," Yu laughed as he sipped on the juice box, Chie still red.
"I'll leave you two be," she walked away, "If you need anything else, more juice or some snacks… some more condoms."
"MOM GET OUT!" Chie yelled as she threw her pillow, "Oh my god I'm going to die, this might be one of the worst days of my life…" she looked over at Yu who was nibbling on a piece of celery, "Why are you so cool about this?"
"This isn't the first time this has happened to us," Yu told her, "Log?" Chie frowned as she grabbed the remainder of Yu's celery and took a bite.
*The Next Morning in The Present*
Yu opened his eyes, the sound of a distant alarm going off from upstairs. It was time for work, a welcome distraction to the horrible truth that Yu and Chie's relationship was in the shitter, or was it. Yu's dream had reminded him of how much he loved Chie and how he never wanted to lose her. He hadn't changed his mind about having kids, but maybe there was a chance for them.
Upstairs, Chie felt exactly the same. She loved him; he was her lover and her soul mate. It was fate that they met and it was fate they should be together. She still wanted kids, but maybe there was a chance for them.
The two got undressed and headed towards the shower on the main floor, both naked as they met each other by the door.
"Yu…" Chie looked at him.
"Chie…" he said back. As soon as they locked eyes, the irrational anger they had towards each other bubbled out again as they began to bicker, "I need to use the shower."
"I need to use it more!" Chie said as she pushed him out of the way.
"Don't push me!" Yu pushed her back.
"You better not do that again! Otherwise I might get a bad bruise I could show to the courts and get a nice paycheck from divorcing my poor abusive husband!" she whined.
"I never took you for a coward," Yu pushed her again.
"I'm no coward, I could kick your ass all over this place and not even break a sweat," she opened the shower door.
"I'd like to see you try," Yu laughed, "You're just like you're stupid father."
"DON'T TALK ABOUT MY DAD LIKE THAT!" she spun around and kicked Yu right in the face, sending him flying backwards and toppling to the ground. Chie's eyes widened as Yu began to sit up as some blood ran from his left nostril, "Yu…"
"You're dad is a fucking idiot," he looked at her as Chie yelled and tackled him. The two rolled around on the floor, exchanging blows as Yu hugged Chie really tight and rolled her body right into the corner of the wall. She let a sharp yelp out as Yu began to punch her right in the gut as hard as he could. As Yu continued the volley of punches she grabbed his arm and twisted it with her body, freeing herself and standing up as Yu cried out in pain.
"Don't!" Chie pulled Yu up and delivered a large punch that shot him back down to the ground, "TALK!" she did the same thing again and again, "ABOUT! MY! DAD! YOU! STUPID! IDIOT! I HATE YOU!" she began to punch him again as Yu grabbed her throat and began to choke her and got up to hold her against the wall.
"I hate you too!" Yu scowled as Chie was gasping for breath. Yu wasn't going to kill her, but if he could knock her out, then he could at least leave for work. As he continued to choke her with both hands now, Chie's defenses let up and she closed her eyes. Yu finally sighed as it was all over and let her body fall to the ground. Yu began to walk away as Chie tripped Yu, climbing on top of his back and pulling him backwards in a chokehold of her own. The two continued to dance around the room until Chie's back hit the television, Yu desperately tried to break free as his vision began to blur, it looked like the end for Yu. Would she kill him? Yu hopped not, but Chie had it in her.
Then, when all seemed lost, Chie lost her footing and the two feel backwards into the television, disappearing into the familiar white and black of the other world.
*Inside the Television World*
"Ahhhh," Yu hit his head on the ground, a hard cement meeting his skull as Chie came tumbling onto her back as she let out a huge grunt and rolled forward in front of Yu, "Chie?" he asked as Chie didn't move, "Oh god, CHIE! Are you okay?" he crawled forward to get a better look at Chie, but was met with an old sight.
Chie was in her old school gear, that lime green jacket with those buttons and her skirt and spats. Not only was Chie's clothes from the part, but so was Chie. She was 17 again, and so was Yu as he looked down to see he was in his school gear along with his own body.
"…Yu?" she opened her eyes.
"Oh thank god," Yu said.
"Yu… is this a dream?" she asked, "You're young."
"No, we fell inside the television… naked," Yu said, "I guess it wanted to clothe us or something." Yu looked around, "Where are we?"
"I don't know," Chie and Yu looked around, "We're at some sort of… carnival." Around them was just as Chie said, a carnival full of booths of food, games, and rides. There was a roller coaster, a Ferris wheel, and even bumper cars, "Do you recognize this place?"
"No…" Yu got up with Chie, "This isn't real… is it?"
"No, I don't remember a place like this at all," Chie looked at Yu, "Do… do you think that this place is a dungeon…"
"A dungeon?" Yu pondered, "That would mean… it's my dungeon." Yu looked around, "But that doesn't make any sense. We defeated Izanami, The Television World is a peace realm now. There were no more dungeons."
"Yeah, because it's not like you don't have any unresolved issues," Chie mocked him.
"If I had issues, then why didn't I face them like you did?" Yu asked.
"I…I don't know," Chie said, "Maybe we should explore this place and try to find a way out?" Yu nodded as the two left their places and explored the fair together. There was no one in sight, all the booths unoperated and unattended.
"Ah man," Yu went over to a food stand, "I wanted a foot long corndog!" Chie groaned as a corndog appeared in front of her on the counter, "YES!" Chie grabbed it and began to squirt ketchup and mustard on it, "It's some sort of magic fair."
"Chie, we're here to find a way out, not to eat ourselves full," Yu continued on as Chie rolled her eyes behind Yu's back and ate her corndog. They continued along to the rides, all of them running, but no one running them or riding them.
"Look!" Chie said as they saw a small pink structure coming up at the edge of the carnival. It was a circular object of sorts, various spray painted sheets of metal welded together in a makeshift manner, "It's a tunnel of love!"
"WELCOME!" a mechanical monotone voice rang out, "WELCOME TO THE TUNNEL OF LOVE! A MAGICAL RIDE YOU AND YOUR TRUE LOVE CAN TAKE TOGETHER!"
"I think we're suppose to get on," Chie said.
"It's just a small dumb ride Chie, it's not an exit," Yu said.
"WELCOME!" the voice rang out again, "WELCOME TO THE TUNNEL OF LOVE WHERE YOU AND YOUR TRUE LOVE CAN FACE YOUR TRUE SELF TOGETHER!"
"I guess that answers that question," Chie said as the two walked over to the stairs leading up to the ride. It was a small purple two person heart shaped boat that sat in gross brown water full of dead leaves and dead bugs.
"This is gross," Yu said.
"It's like the voice said," Chie said.
"WELCOME!" the voice rang out again, "WELCOME TO THE TUNNEL OF LOVE WHERE CHIE SATONAKA AND YU NARUKAMI CAN OVERCOME THEIR DIFFERENCES AND WHERE TRUE LOVE WILL TRIUMPH OVER ALL."
"Very…specific," Yu said as he sat down with Chie in the boat, trying not to tip over the boat into the mucky waters below, "So do we paddle or…" Yu began to speak out as the ride started itself and the waters slowly flowed forward into the pitch black tunnel ahead.
"Here we go!" Chie laughed as Yu stared at her, "What? It's a ride! It's like the voice said, true love will triumph over all!" the two disappeared into the pitch darkness, unable to even see their hands. Then a few dim lit lights flicked on and revealed the shoddy decorations of the tunnel of love.
"LOVE IS A MYSTERIOUS THING!" the voice said outloud to them, "LOVE IS THE MOST POWERFUL BOND IN THE UNIVERSE! IT CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS AND CARVE OUT VALLEYS IN A SINGLE STROKE, DEFEAT ANY EVIL!"
"God, what a cheesy line," Yu scoffed at the ride.
"Yu! Look at the cute bears!" Chie giggled as a pair of mechanical bears in a suit and a wedding dressed spun around on a gear. The ride continued on as cutouts of swans and sheep and hearts along with cheesy romantic music played for them. The ride slowed down as it came to a large wall where a screen projector shot out of nowhere and began a countdown to some sort of film.
"ACT 1! A MEETING OF SOULS!" the voice rang out as on the screen lit up to show their old second year classroom in Inaba.
"Sir," Chie raised her hand, "There's an empty seat here, can he sit next to me?" Chie asked King Moron who was in the middle of scolding Yu in front of the whole class.
"Sure," he said, "TAKE YOUR SEAT ALREADY!" Yu nodded and quickly went over and sat down next to Chie.
"We call him King Moron," Chie leaned over and talked to Yu, "He's horrible."
"Yeah," Yu said to Chie.
"SHUT IT YOU TWO," King Moron yelled as the two turned their attention back to the front before the screen went dark again.
"I remember that like it was yesterday," Chie smiled with Yu.
"Yeah, hard to believe that was thirteen years ago," Yu smiled at Chie, remembering the past. The wall came up and the two continued on their way down a similar path, the water beginning to clear up and the decorations getting better as they arrived at yet another wall.
"ACT 2: ASKING HER OUT!" the mechanical voice said again.
"Oh, I remember this," Chie said, "It was so romantic and it was like something out of a fairy tale!" Chie said as the screen lit up to show Chie and Yu standing in an alley.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" Yu asked in the flashback.
"What? This is me we are talking about you know…" Chie blushed and giggled, "…okay." The screen went black and the wall went up as Chie and Yu both sat with a blank expression on their face.
"That wasn't really how I remembered it," Chie said.
"Me either… I can't believe I just straight out asked you to be my girlfriend," Yu blushed, "That's really embarrassing and stupid."
"I said yes," Chie grabbed Yu's hand.
"I'm glad you said yes," Yu smiled and clutched Chie's hand. The ride stopped again at another wall.
"ACT 3: MARRIAGE OF TWO SOULS!" the voice said as wedding footage of Chie and Yu's wedding began to roll. Chie and Yu watched as they said their vows and kissed each other. It showed their first dance, the two eating their wedding cake and footage of all their friends. The screen went black for a third time and the ride continued on.
"I love you Chie," Yu said.
"I love you too Yu," Chie said. The two still had the forethought of the issue of children in the back of their mind, but why ruin this perfect moment right now, they were falling in love again, which was something they had forgotten a long time ago.
"AND FINALLY!" the voice rang out as they came to the final wall, "THE FOURTH AND FINAL ACT IN ANY MARRIAGE… THE CONSUMATION OF TWO PEOPLE'S UNDYING LOVE THROUGH THE PASSING OF GENETIC MATERIALS TO CREATE A NEW HUMAN PERSON!" the wall came up to reveal a large room with a rectangular pool that their boat waded into. At the very front of the room stood a single white crib with a spotlight shining down on it. A baby's cry rang out through the room as soon as they entered.
"Yu?" Chie asked, "Is that… our baby?"
"I … I don't know," Yu grabbed the stage and pulled the boat to the side to get out. Slowly, Yu walked as Chie got out of the boat, standing back to let Yu see the child first. As Yu approached the crib, he could only imagine what sorts of horrors were inside that crib that this world had dug up for him and him alone. As he looked down, he was amazed by what he saw.
"What's in it?" Chie asked.
"It's empty," Yu said as the crying stopped, "Why?"
"Because you never had a baby stupid!" a voice rang out as a small figure with glowing yellow eyes came out of the shadows.
"No way!" Chie said as the two looked in horror. It was Yu's Shadow, something neither of them thought they would never see, but this shadow was something that Yu was really freaked out by. It was him, but as a little toddler. He was in his blue feetie pajamas and carrying a small stuffed horse in his hand.
"Mr. Horsey-poo!" Yu said as he saw the stuffed animal.
"Mr. Horsey-poo?" Chie laughed.
"Are… Are you me?" Yu asked.
"I am," The Shadow said, "I am a shadow, the true self."
"Okay, you're me and I'm you," Yu said, "You can go away now."
"It doesn't work that way! You're just like mommy and daddy" the kid whined, "MOMMY AND DADDY SHIPPED ME OFF EVERY YEAR AND LEFT ME ALONE! MOMMY AND DADDY DON'T LOVE ME."
"That's not true, they love me," Yu said.
"IF THEY LOVED ME THAN THEY WOULDN'T KEEP PUSHING ME AWAY. I'LL SHOW THEM, I WON'T HAVE ANY KIDS WHEN I GROW UP. I WON'T DO TO THEM WHAT THEY DID TO ME! I WANNA HAVE A BILLION FRIENDS AND A MILLION GIRLFRIENDS AND THEN NOBODY CAN LEAVE ME AND WE CAN BE HAPPY TOGETHER FOREVER! I HATE YOU MOMMY! I HATE YOU DADDY! I HATE YOU I HATE YOU!" the kid was throwing a fit.
"I don't hate them," Yu said, "I love them."
"I HATE YOU CHIE!" he said, "YOU GOT SO CLOSE TO ME AND I DON'T WANT PEOPLE THAT CLOSE TO ME. YOU ONLY WANT A BABY SO YOU CAN TAKE THEM AWAY AND LEAVE ME SAD LIKE MOMMY AND DADDY DID! FROM NOW ON IT'LL BE ME AND MR. HORSE-POO AND THE ONLY FRIENDS WE'LL HAVE ARE THOSE THAT WILL NEVER EVER EVER LEAVE US ALONE!" the kid was bawling now.
"Shut up!" Yu said.
"Yu don't say it!" Chie cried out.
"You stupid little brat, you aren't me!" Yu said in a fit of rage, "Oh…" Yu said as he felt all the life drained from him as his shadow continued to cry and grey along with his stuffed horse, "So that's what that feels like." Yu fell over as Chie watched the shadow grow into a large knight in beautiful silver armor covered in hearts on a gallant white horse.
"Well Chie," Yu cracked her fists, "Yu fought for you, now it's time to fight for him!" Chie let out a large cry and ran towards the shadow. Yu watched as she summoned her persona and began to fight the monster all by herself. As Chie continued on with the fight, Yu's vision became more and more foggy as he did everything not to pass out. As he did, voices began to peirce Yu's skull over and over again.
"Yu…" a voice said.
"K-kanji?" he asked.
"YU!" another voice said.
"Rise?" he asked again as his eyes drooped shut.
"YU!" Chie yelled.
"Chie!" Yu's eyes fell shut as he lost consciousness.
*March 20, 2012*
"Yu!" Chie said as she was jumping up and down on his chest, "Don't die! PLEASE DON'T DIE!" Chie was in tears as Yu's body wasn't responding to anything anyone did.
"UGH!" Yu coughed out as he shot up as if he was stabbed in the chest with a huge needle of adrenaline.
"Yu!" Chie gasped as she hugged him.
"Chie!" Yu looked over at Chie then was looking around at all his friends around him, in a place he never thought he would be again, Izanami's lair, "W-what happened?"
"You got pulled down into the fog after you defeated Izanami!" Chie said, "I guess she tried to take you with her, but we saved you together."
"The fog…" Yu remembered the fog, it was a fog of lies that created a false reality that the user wanted. Then, did that mean that everything Yu had experienced was fake?
"No," Yu looked around, "No!" he began to wrangle free from Chie, "This can't be. You and I and … all of us… we were… old!" Yu was, "It was perfect and!"
"Dude, it wasn't real," Yosuke said, "You were down there for a while… we all had dreams like that… it sucks, but it's not real."
"Oh god," Yu began to crack up and turned around and started digging at the ground, "I wanna go back! I'm sorry! I'M SORRY!" Yu was scratching at nothing as Chie and Kanji began to pull Yu back, "Oh no!" Yu curled up into a ball, "Nononono! NO!" he was sobbing now in front of all his friends. Everything was fake, all the fun they had and their lives were nothing more than a perfect illusion that Yu took for granted and now it was too late to go back, never able to dream the same dream twice.
A/N: Don't freak out too much about the ending here. It'll all be explained in a way… there's still a lot of story to go.
