A/N: Here we go guys! One of the moments I've been dying to write and update, Fuu finally gets to meet Sasuke and Naruto, and the planning to rescue their cherry blossom commences! It'll jump between the p.o.v's of Fuu and Sasuke, since I enjoyed writing from her perspective, though there won't be many more chapters with Fuu's p.o.v, just only when she's needed.
Anyway, onward!
"Matte!"
Her voice had rang out more violently and urgently than she had originally intended, but that seemed to be the trick regardless. Her targets, or people or interest, had immediately skidded to a halt and slammed into a giant branch that stretched out before them. The one with the midnight hair clutched onto the bark of the tree tightly to secure his landing while the blonde one grabbed the branch and swung himself underneath the branch, then flung himself upright and landed securely next to his comrade. She watched as both boys began to breathe heavily from their sudden stops, Fuu sensing their chakra moving haywire through their bodies to cushion the rather fast blows of their landings.
And as she tried to speak out to them between her own heavy breaths, she'd suddenly realized that she'd need something to cushion her landing as she took in the two different stares she'd received from both boys.
First, the one with midnight hair raised his head from the branch up to meet her eyes slowly, and Fuu's entire body rushed with dangerous chills as his red eyes stared her down, looking at her as if she had murdered someone right in front of him. His eyes..they were cold and unforgiving..and not natural. She detected an intense amount of chakra swelling around his corneas, and it seemed to shoot out directly at her, piercing her heart. He gave her a dark and brooding look that told her to flee, and his eyes narrowed even further in suspicion when she stared directly into his eyes. Fuu was absolutely certain that this konoha shinobi possessed a kekkei-genkai just as Koichi did..and Fuu was half curious and half frightened to see just exactly what it was capable of.
And as Fuu left his gaze and her eyes shifted to the blonde shinobi next to him, she had almost lost all air in her lungs.
The blonde one looked at her with an expression that was dramatically opposite from his comrade, so opposite that she appeared to be standing before yin and yang. His ice blue eyes were widened in something close to fear, and yet that wasn't all. He seemed to look excited yet terrified all at the same time, and he couldn't take his off of hers. His lips were parted, as if he wanted to speak, yet he remained silent.
Then, she felt it.
The feeling slammed into her chest as a blinding rate, her heart pummeling down straight to her feet. Her eyes widened to match the blonde's as she felt a violent chakra stirring inside of him, a complete contrast to the sunshine of his outer appearance. Then again, she wasn't to judge in this situation. Her palms began to sweat, and she saw a look in his eyes that she recognized all too well, one that she had seen in her own eyes whenever she looked in the reflections of the waterfalls back at home. It was a look that she never thought she'd see anywhere else but her own reflection. She used to pretend that her mirror self was another girl just like her, someone who shared the same traits and demons, someone who shared the same look as her.
The look of a jinchūriki.
It was at that moment that she confirmed that these two were the correct ones she had to find, that these two were Sakura's teammates.
"Talk."
Fuu broke out of her stare with the blonde jinchūriki, and her eyes darted to the shinobi next to him. His eyes looked ten times more threatening as they had before, and his voice held as much sunshine as the devil himself.
"You heard me. Talk." he said viciously to her, drawing out what appeared to be a kusanagi from a sheath attached to his hip. "Who are you?" It was more of a statement then a question.
Fuu swallowed back her fear, after all, why should she be afraid of the one that Sakura had feelings for, or who she didn't have feelings for, according to Sakura. No, what mattered was that she needed to convince the two of them to come with her and rescue their teammate.
Fuu sighed. "I need you two to come with me, now." she said with shaking urgency.
The kusanagi yielder looked at her as if she were crazy, and tightened his grip on his weapon. "And why would we do that?"
"I-"
"Well?"
Wasn't I just getting to that? Fuu thought to herself in annoyance.
Fuu spread her lips to speak once more but choked when she saw the shinobi's eyes begin to change, bleeding into another form that stabbed her nerves. Black stars began to form in front of the red, blazing dangerously at her.
Although frightening, Fuu slowly began to loose her patience.
"Listen to me, I-"
A kunai whizzed by her head, and after she dodged it at the last second, her annoyance shot out of hiding.
"Jeez, what's wrong with you? I honestly don't understand what Sakura sees in you anyway."
The response was incredible.
If Fuu had any reason to be nervous before, it would be considered mere child's play compared to what began to unfold in front of her at that moment. The malice she saw in the shinobi's eyes had drained almost immediately, and in its place came something that sent Fuu's heart into a pounding frenzy of regret and remorse for the boy she had never met. She watched as his eyes widened immensely, the red stars stretching out to their farthest extent possible. Fuu felt her heart shatter for the male in front of her, watching as his face slowly melted into the point of breakage, a look that she wouldn't think possible to see on someone who had been so threatening yet powerful standing before her yielding a weapon. Fuu had seen heartbreak and fear more than once in her lifetime, but she had confirmed that in all her days, she'd never experienced a look of pain like his from anyone. If she hadn't been blessed with the keen eyesight of a jinchūriki, she would never in a million years have spotted the extremely small glaze that spread over his eyes, vanishing as quickly as it came. And as Fuu saw his clenched hand on the hilt of his weapon begin to shake, she knew the extent of the effect that Sakura had on him. Sakura hit him deep down in the depths of his entire being, affecting him entirely.
And right before her eyes, she saw the immensely worried and shredded eyes of a person who had something precious taken away from him.
And then, just as quickly as it came, everything was swept away.
She watched as his eyes flooded with brutal darkness, a brooding and impending wave of threat suffocating the entire forest.
And the disapproving stares that she'd received as a jinchūriki didn't hold a candle to the stare of death that she had been given in that moment.
"..What did you do to her?"
Shit
Fuu shook her head quickly, her heart racing. "No, you don't understand-"
"Where is she?!" he yelled, his teeth gritting together sharply.
Fuu's eyes widened. "That's what I've been trying to tell you! I need you guys to help-"
"Enough!" he exclaimed, his hair beginning to stand up on its ends.
Fuu watched with horror as the tip of his kusanagi sparked once, then the sword was completely engulfed in white-blue lightning. All of a sudden she couldn't breathe, she couldn't move a muscle. No, this couldn't happen, not this way.
Then the lightning vanished.
Fuu watched with widened eyes as she saw the lightning wielding shinobi's eyes drift over to the right, where an orange arm had stretched itself out perpendicular to the red eyed shinobi, his arm blocking his view path to Fuu.
Blocking the gateway to her end.
Her hair was the color of a brighter turquoise, eerily resembling the evil glint of evergreen that had manifested in Sakura's afflicted eyes.
It sickened him to his stomach.
He would hear no more of her talk, nothing more of her useless lies she tried to feed him. He didn't care if he was called reckless, or even jeopardizing the mission. Because at that moment, nothing mattered except Sakura's safety.
It was as if a spark had ignited in his brain at the mention of her name on a stranger's lips, where her name should never belong.
But as an orange sleeved arm shot out blocking his crackling lethal blade, his flowing impulses of revenge screeched to an abrupt halt, his intentions frozen in their raging path.
"Naruto-"
"Don't Sasuke." Naruto said slowly, his widened blue eyes glued to the girl in front of them.
A bubbling anger began to build up in Sasuke's body.
"Naruto, move-"
"No."
"Don't be stupid! We can't trust her-"
"Then why do I feel this way?!" Naruto suddenly exclaimed, finally tearing his eyes away from the girl and allowing them to bore into Sasuke's.
Sasuke had his answer ready until he saw Naruto's face, and for the first time ever, Sasuke swallowed his words.
Naruto's eyes were swimming with desperation and something else Sasuke couldn't identify. And as he looked deeper into Naruto's odd behavior, he felt the electricity in his hands begin to diminish and crackle down into nothing. As the electricity began to die, Sasuke finally began to realize the true extent of the situation.
Naruto was never the one to think so rationally at first, he always jumped into a situation without assessing it. So that meant for whatever the reason, Naruto had a reason to hold back from jumping into the situation blindly.
Sasuke's eyes watched Naruto and the girl stare at each other intensely, which he found to be extremely suspicious. But even so, the girl remained where she was standing even after she'd been threatened, Naruto making sure that she would be unharmed.
But why?
Then, Sasuke remembered how Naruto had behaved before they were stopped by this girl, he had looked like he had seen a ghost, or like one had passed through him, to be more exact.
Sasuke's eyes narrowed. What was going on?
"Who are you?" Naruto asked seriously.
The girl blinked her astonished amber eyes at Naruto, but at last she spoke.
"You're…Naruto right?"
Sasuke heard a small gasp release from Naruto's lips. Sasuke watched as Naruto nodded, only after five seconds of silence passed by.
"Then she was telling the truth..you really are…a.." the girl almost whispered, a relieved shock sparking in her eyes.
"Is that why….you can feel it too?" Naruto asked shakily.
Then, Sasuke understood.
He cursed himself for not seeing what was right in front of him, cursing his blinding rage getting the better of him. Now that his head had been more cleared, he felt the immensely strong chakra signature flowing out from the girl, one that almost perfectly matched Naruto's, except for minor differences. While Naruto's chakra felt hot and at times suffocating, hers felt heavy and free all at the same time. But underneath both of their chakra, they each carried with them a similar denominator.
"You're a jinchūriki." Sasuke stated, his sharingan spinning.
The girl locked her eyes on Sasuke, though not directly into his eyes as he had hoped.
"Then you must be Sasuke-san?" she asked him warily.
Sasuke's eyes narrowed, and it seemed that she took his gesture as a 'yes'.
"Are you..the jinchūriki we're looking for?" Naruto asked, amazement in his voice.
The girl's eyes widened. "She mentioned something like that..but that's not the point! I've finally found you two!"
Naruto's glistening curiosity vanished from his eyes, and he took on a puzzled look. "Huh?"
Sasuke closed his eyes in annoyance. It was only natural that this new Naruto would vanish as quickly as he came.
And it seemed to be a similar case for the girl in front of them. A few seconds ago she had been stiff and calm, and now panic sprung up in her eyes.
"Like I said! I need you two to follow me! Sakura's in danger and she needs help! She sent me to get you-"
"Sakura-chan?!" Naruto suddenly exclaimed. "You know where she is?!"
The girl nodded hurriedly. "I managed to escape, and she told me to find you-"
"Prove it."
Sasuke watched as Naruto and the girl's eyes immediately landed on him as he spoke the daring words that rolled off of his lips. He saw Naruto's eyes fill with confusion and urgency, and the girl's were sullen.
"Sasuke, what are you-"
"I said, prove it." Sasuke said, staring pointedly ahead at the girl. "I don't care what you say. I'm not going anywhere until you can prove that you aren't lying to us and trying to lure us into a trap."
Nobody spoke.
And then, a new urgent feeling flooded Sasuke's body as the girl in front of him spread her lips and uttered her words.
"Team Seven."
Sasuke's clenched fist began to tremble with the immense pressure he had been exerting on his muscles.
The girl turned to Naruto. "'You've gotten taller than me, haven't you?'"
By the way that Naruto's eyes widened, Sasuke assumed that she had struck a nerve inside of him, no doubt that she had referenced something that Naruto had heard once before from their teammate.
Then, she turned to Sasuke. The girl's eyes softened.
"Thank you."
Tremors shot up his entire body, freezing him to his spot. He felt sweat begin to pour down his clammy skin, his mouth suddenly parched.
And he heard the voices in his head once more.
"You're right. I don't know what it's like to be alone like you or Naruto, after all, I have a family…"
"She thought this might happen, so she told me to say these things if you doubted me." Sasuke vaguely heard a female voice say.
"But…Sasuke-kun…if..if you were to leave..I..It would be so lonely..I would feel empty without you…if you were to leave me behind!"
"Where is she?! Let's go then!" a male voice shouted.
"And if you have to go….then..take me with you.."
"The cave is up ahead! Let's go!"
"Right!"
"Don't leave me!"
"Ikuzo! Sasuke!"
Sakura's pleading voice swept out of Sasuke's mind, and without wasting anymore time, he looked ahead at the two shinobi who had already moved from their solitary positions and sprung into action.
And as a flash of pink hair went through his mind, he gritted his teeth and dashed forward.
If she was harmed in any way, there'd be hell to pay.
A/N: It's been a year since I've published this story, I almost can't believe it! Thank you all who've been here since the beginning, and those of you who joined along the way! Big Hugs!
