Whoop! I wrote another chapter! This chapter is different than the other two and I'm not sure what I think about it… I mean, it was supposed to be 'Tsuna is in danger! Super Mum to the rescue!' so where did all of this come from?! Gah!

What the hell kind of title is that?!

...I kinda like it :P

WARNING: On top of reading the last part of HP: OotP before writing this, I'm trying to do some more dialogue in this chapter… read at your own risk. Also, feels.

I love you, Kaa-san

The first thing that gave Nana a pause was the crash. The second was the scream.

"HIIIIIIIIIIEEEE!"

The scream was something Nana was extremely familiar with, and since she knew that her husband was in Italy, and that Giotto-chan had been dead for close to four centuries; it had to have been Tsu-kun's Feminine Shriek of Utter Despair™. Now, Nana saw only two different scenarios; either this was another game Reborn-chan had come up with (he was such a cute little baby. What's that? Denial? Please, as if that was ever going to happen…), or Tsu-kun was in danger. If it was the former, her son would soon scream "Reborn!", if it was the second…

"HIIIII-!"

Nana knew that sound as well. It was the sound of someone being forcefully silenced, and Reborn enjoyed Tsu-kun's screams for mercy (a sweet little angel, right? Cute and nice! The perfect little brother for Tsu-kun!) and wouldn't silence him for all the espresso in the world. This meant that her darling son was in danger – bullies, most likely, and the lack Tsu-kun's lack of "REBORN! I WILL [insert something]WITH MY DYING WILL!" meant that Reborn-chan was busy somewhere else. Probably murdering someone on Mars.

(Okay, fine. Denial. At least she was aware of it, hm?)

It took Nana a less than 1/1817465.32728 of a second to decide on which of two actions she would take; walk away and hope for the best, or take the situation into her own hands.

It wasn't a hard choice at all. It was quite easy, to be honest. What were her secrets, any of her secrets (there were a lot of them) worth in exchange for Tsu-kun's safety?

(Nothing.)

"Tsu-kun, is that you?"

Her question, innocent sounding as it was, was met by a brief silence, quickly followed by a short scuffle and then, "Y-yes, Kaa-san! I'm busy, don't… don't come in!"

"You're outside, in a dark alley. What do you mean by 'in', Tsu-kun?"

"…"

"Tsu-kun, are you feeling okay? Are you sick?" Nana babbled, deciding not to wait (the early bird gets the worm, after all!), and placed her shopping bag down on the ground before she entered the enclosed space (she suspected that there might be a fight, and the treacle tart she had bought was not something she wanted to ruin). There were, as she suspected, a group of suit-wearing men, and one of them was holding a gun to her Tus-kun's head, the other six men were pointing theirs in her direction.

(not bullies)

Something that Nana had suppressed – a long time ago – started to push itself towards the surface of her mind.

(KILL THEM!)

"Turn around, lady, and we just might allow you to live," said the man holding Tsu-kun. Nana ignored him, focused as she was on her son. This had only happened once before, and she had kept an extremely close eye on Tsu-kun ever since.

She had gotten lazy, Nana realized, ever since Reborn had arrived. Shouldn't the Greatest Hitman in the world have been able to predict and stop something like this? "Please go, Kaa-san!" That was her son they were pointing guns at, the son that she had been neglecting, however slightly, for the last seven years.

That stopped today.

She gave Tsu-kun a reassuring smile (because she was going to be a better mother from now on, and Tsu-kun shouldn't ever look at her like that; as though she might suddenly disappear) before bringing out her ladle from where it rested in her back pocket.

A few of the men took a step back, some sort of primitive instinct telling them to get as far away as possible. The leader was, sadly, new. He had never been in Namimori before and, as such, had never felt the wrath that Nana was about to bring down on their heads. He did the worst thing he could have done in his position. "I'm having a good day, so I'll give you one last chance. Turn around and leave, or you'll have to watch as I kill the brat."

(kill the brat…)

(Kill?)

(He thought he was allowed to kill her son?)

(KILL THEM!)

(that can't go unpunished, can it?)

Whatever it was that had started to resurface when she had first lay her eyes on her son in the position that he currently was in… broke free. Nana felt something in her mind freeze, shatter, and then she felt something she had buried long ago, awaken.

The world faded, replaced by a slight buzzing sound that increased in volume until she couldn't hear anything else. Her vision became strangely blurry, and Nana felt a brief surge of panic, before that, too, disappeared underneath the primal rage that took control over her mind.

When Nana finally calmed down, when the buzzing disappeared and clarity returned to the world, she was standing in front of a pile of beaten-up men, and Nana thanked the heavens that she hadn't had anything but a ladle as a weapon. The last time she had lost herself to… that thing, she had been holding a knife.

"K-Kaa-san?"

Nana turned at the hesitant voice, and when her son flinched (he couldn't hide from her, the silly boy. He shouldn't feel the need to) she felt something inside her break, just a tiny bit. She felt raw, as though someone had scratched away at her surface until nothing remained. "I'm sorry you had to see that, Tsu-kun. I… didn't mean to scare you."

She heard Tsuna draw a shaky breath, "I-I'm not scared, Kaa-san. I mean, I am, but- but you wouldn't – wouldn't hurt me… so, so I'm not scared of you."

"There is nothing to be ashamed of, Tsu-kun." The way her voice sounded disturbed him, Nana knew, but she couldn't do anything about that right now. If she allowed herself to feel anything but hollow (hah, hollow – hallow. The Hallows. They were the reason for this, all of it), then she knew for certain that she would cry. "I scare myself, sometimes… just look at what I just did, I am dangerous and you should be scared," Nana loathed saying it, but it was the truth.

"I'm not scared of you! You're strong, apparently – but everyone around me seems to be strong, Lambo is five and plays with real weapons… and even if I was scared, I know that you would never do anything to hurt me! I- I love you, Kaa-san," Tsuna trailed of, embarrassed. He was moments away from another 'HIIIIE!'-moment.

Her son's outburst took Nana completely by surprise (how long had it been since she had heard those three words? How could she have gone without them for so long and not gone mad?). A tear slipped down her cheek, and she drew Tsuna against her for a hug and a kiss to the top of his head. "I love you, too, sweetie. I love you more than you can possibly imagine…"

"Kaa-san?"

"Hm?"

"Where did you learn how to fight?"

Nana had to scramble for a reply – she wasn't ready for this conversation! Not right now! – and blurted out the first thing that came to mind (It wasn't something you were supposed to say to your thirteen year old son).

"HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEE?!"

At least it got him to think about something else, right?

Finished!

I couldn't think of something randomly horrifying that Nana could say, so just imagine that she said something disturbing with a small, innocent smile. It probably had something to do with Iemitsu, and maybe a whip… damnit, stupid brain! :/

Stupid dialogue… why can't you be easy to write?! Grrrr! Also! Is Tsuna OOC? 'Cause I think he probably maybe is…

Also, are you guys having breaks from school/work over Easter? I am, and it's a good thing, too. My brain still hasn't recovered from the math test I had on Wednesday – and all the studying I had to do in order to get ready for it. That's the reason (the studying) it took so long to update, just so you know! :3

Tell me what you think (and any misstakes you spot, I don't have a beta, so there are probably a ton of them) and I swear I'll read/watch something super happy before I write the next chapter! There won't be any self-hate on Nana's part even if I have to watch all the cheesy romance movies with sucky plots that exist!

PS. There is more to Nana's 'attack' than what is mentioned, though I think I gave some hints…
