so, this is the last chapter and I just want to say thanks to everyone who ever read it, reviewed, followed and favorited! You guys are the best! Like seriously! Annabeth's POV
It was the first time I'd ever gone to Percy's house feeling happy and confident. As I headed up to the doorstep I heard two voices screaming. Percy and Charlotte fighting, no doubt. I sighed and pushed open the front door. In the corner of the living room there was a broken vase that Charlotte had probably thrown at him.
The two were screaming at each other in the kitchen. They were on opposite sides of the marble island.
"You idiot! How could you be getting together with her!?" Charlotte screamed and threw a banana at his face.
I walked up to the counter, "Hey you two, no throwing fruit." I tried to make a joke out of it, and hopefully they would stop fighting. Yeah, I was wrong for thinking that..
Charlotte stomped her foot. "You! Get out of my house right now!" I couldn't help but notice that bruises covered her body. What had happened to her? Percy wouldn't beat her, right? Not after what happened with Josh. I shook that thought from my mind.
Percy cleared his throat and corrected her, "My house."
"Ugh!" She started heading towards the stairs. "I'm going to get Lily and take her somewhere! Anywhere but here."
Percy ran and grabbed her. "Not so fast. It's my weekend, remember?"
"I filed a restraining order, Lily is not to be anywhere near Annabeth." Charlotte said.
Percy just laughed. Why was that funny? "I checked it out char. It wasn't even legit."
Charlotte's face turned bright red and I wondered if she was going to throw another vase at him. I'd never seen someone get this angry before.
'Whatever!" Then she started to cry, "Can't you see what you're doing Percy! I still love you!" She wept into his shoulder, "I just need to get her out of way," She gave me a death glare while she cried. "I want to have what we had before! You, me, and Lily."
Percy looked a bit confused but then comforted Charlotte and gave me a sympathetic look as if to say, 'Sorry, she's a time bomb right now and I'm not sure what else to do.' I understood though.
She cried for a little while longer and looked up at Percy, "You still love me right?" Her mascara was running down her cheeks, and her bright blue eyes were red from crying. Part of me wondered if she was just a really good actress.
"Charlotte.." He took a deep breath and I knew what was coming. This could either work out or go dreadfully wrong. I had a hunch this wasn't going to end well. "no, I'm sorry but I don't love you anymore. I love Annabeth, and I always did. you have to understand that." Despite the dark mood of the room, I felt my heart flutter a bit.
"Fine." She growled and pushed him away. Then she started half sobbing half screaming at him about how he was ruining hers and Lily's life. I couldn't even make out the words she was saying.
She was out of control. She started charging at me and tried to punch me. Thanks the gods Percy was strong and held her back. "Let go of me!" She screamed. Never get in the way of a woman with a broken heart..
Finally she calmed down. "I'm sorry she sobbed, I really am." We left her to her tears in the kitchen.
"Thanks seaweed Brain." I grinned. "That was pretty crazy."
He shrugged and laughed, "I guess you could say that."
all of a sudden we heard the clanging of silverware. Charlotte was rummaging through a drawer. I turned to see her holding a fairly large knife.
"Oh gods, We got to stop her." Percy said and darted for the kitchen. I gulped, she really was insane.
"You take my husband, you pay the price!" she said and charged towards me trying to cut me with the knife. "Hey! We should've kept all the sharp objects away from her Percy!"
He ran to me to help. "No, Percy! Call for help, I can hold her off for a while." Percy scrunched his eyebrows. "Ok. Be careful." He ran upstairs to get his cell phone.
Charlotte pushed me to the ground and I groaned as my head hit the coffee table. "Get off me you bitch!" I pushed her off of me and now I was on top of her but she still had a knife to my throat. Thank thye gods I knew how to tackle a person, and within two seconds I had her completely pinned down.
"Percy!" I called.
"Help's coming." He ran down the stairs panting. "It's gonna be fine."
I looked down at charlotte who was laughing. God.. Somebody took some crazy pills this morning.
"Mommy?" a small voice called from the stairs. "Lily!" She screeched and ran up to her daughter before I even knew what was happening.
I shook my head. "Shit."
Percy ran up to them. "Stay back!" Charlotte hissed. "Come near her and I'll..I'll...I'll kill her." She pressed the blade to lily's throat and she started to cry. "Stop Mommy!" She cried.
"Charlotte!" I yelled at her. "Stop right now! You're not thinking rationally!" This was absolutely insane. I wanted to bang my head against that marble counter. Was this some sort of joke? When Aphrodite had told us years ago that she would make our love lives interesting I hadn't even dreamed of this. A crazy ex wife and Tartarus, how joyful..
"Anniebeth!" Lily cheered. And I tried my best to smile up at her.
"Lily! We're gonna get you down safely I promise!" He shouted and ran up the stairs.
"Daddy she's hurting me."
"I told you to stay back." Charlotte yelled. "Leave and I won't hurt her."
I slowly crept up the steps to Charlotte.
"Hey." I whispered softly, trying my best to sound nice. "You don't want to do this."
She just cried. "Why do you care!? All you wanna do is make my life miserable! I hate you so much! You want to take both of them from me!"
"No I don't. we love each other Charlotte." I wasn't even sure if bringing the L word into this was a good idea. "I don't hate you, you know that right?" I really meant that. I didn't hate the woman sobbing in front of me. She was just doing something crazy for love. I didn't like her either, I just pitied her.
"You've got to trust me Charlotte."
She looked down at her crying daughter as if she was finally realizing what she was doing "Go Lily. Go to Daddy." She said in a barely audible tone. "Go."
I wanted to cry, I wanted to hug her. At least she didn't go through with killing her daughter. i actually felt really proud of myself for saving the day.
I hugged her. "I'm proud of you." I whispered into her ear.
I hated myself for not expecting what was coming next. she quickly got up and shoved me into the railing. I stood up. "Woah. I thopught we fixed things."
"You thought wrong bitch." She pushed me farther and I almost fell off the stairs. We battled there for a moment, desperately trying to push the other one off. Charlotte was stronger than I had originally thought. Damn, she must have been working out. It was almost a miracle when i finally flipped her over me. I closed my eyes, not wanting to turn around and see her body on the floor.
I started to cry as I heard the sirens. "Is she dead.?" I called to Percy below. There was a pause. "I.. I think so."
"I'm sorry Percy." I ran down to hug him. I knew she did mean a lot to him. He did marry her after all.
"It's fine." He choked out, "It was self defense, she wanted to hurt you. I'm just worried about Lily."
"Me too." I looked out to see the ambulances on the lawn. "We should probably get out there." I suggested and started for the door.
Percy grabbed my wrist and I flinched. for a moment I almost thought it was Charlotte. "Hey, Wise Girl."
"Yeah." My voice cracked.
"I love you."
"I love you too." I smiled through my tears as I said that for the first time in years. I was finally ready to Love Again.
i actually am not really sure if I liked the way this ended. It wasn't the original ending I had planned out, but this is what happened after watching too much Law and Order SVU oops.
