Chapter 13 – One month

"My God, I can't believe it has been only one month!" shouted Rin looking at the calendar.

"Haha, this isn't anything. Just wonder how it is to be in my place. I've been here for years!" said V-flower.

In this period of time of a month, the girl had forged a kind of friendship. They were the only ones that understood how that place was hell, but they also had some things in common.

Rin felt sad that she would have to leave V-flower behind when she left that place. Yes, Rin wasn't intending to stay in that hell the time her mother wanted her to and she didn't even know how much her mother wanted her to stay there. She needed to find a way to get out of that school, but she didn't know how.

Rin looked at the clock in her room; the classes in her old school had already ended. She went down the stairs of her dormitory and went to the place where they kept the phones. She just had one call for week and she felt really guilty for not calling Miki, but there's someone more important she wished to talk.

"Hello?" a female voice answered.

"I want to talk with Len," answered Rin coldly.

"Rin, I…"

"Pass it to Len!"

The phone stayed quiet for some minutes. If her mother wanted to be away from her, so Rin would be as far as possible. During the month she was in school, she hasn't talked with her mother even once. Sometimes, before she would sleep, she would feel guilty, but she was stronger ( and more stubborn) than that.

"Rin?" the voice she loved so much called.

"Hi Len."

"How are you? It has been a week already... It happened anything during this time? Are you eating properly? Are you being well treated? Are the classes too hard? How is your friend... Violet?" Rin chuckled at the boy's hurry.

"Calm down Len... Too many questions..."

"Oh, sorry…"

"No problem. Yes, I'm great." Better now, hearing your voice, "One week, huh? No, not important happened… I'm eating Len, but I miss your food… The classes… Well, boring like always… V-flower? She's fine, hating this place just like me!"

Rin felt herself lighter now that she was talking with Len, she felt as if she was somewhere different, somewhere away from that prison. She didn't hide from him how much she hated that place and he seemed to understand. She also had told him about V-flower, she only was hiding the fact that a group of girls was trying to intimidate her. With not much success, though. But she didn't want to worry Len.

"Rin... Your mother, she..."

"No, please Len, let's not talk about that. Tell me, how are things there?"

"..." it took Len some time to answer, " Everything is fine. Miki asks about you every day, even if I tell her I can only talk with you one time a week. She told me she misses you, that all of your friends miss you…" Rin smiled.

"Tell her that I miss her too and tell her if she keeps annoying you, I'll beat the crap out off her when I'm back." the two of them laughed, until Rin heard the sound that warned her that her time had come to an end, "Len, I need to go, my time ended…"

"Oh, it's fine. Until next week. Rin, I… Take care, okay?"

"Okay… Bye, Len."

Len hung up the phone and looked with pity at Lola. The woman seemed desolated. For a month her daughter hasn't wanted to talk with her. But Len couldn't understand why she was so sad, because when she travelled with Leon, sometimes she would stay months without calling home.

"She didn't want to talk with me again, huh?"

"I'm sorry…"

"There's no need for you to apologize, it's not your fault…"

Lola sighed and went to hers and Leon's room. She couldn't understand. Does Rin hate her now? But she needed to understand she did that for her, it was for her better. When Rin became more mature, she would understand Lola's intention. Even knowing this, Lola still felt somewhat depressed. She sat on her bed, took the phone and called Leon.

"Honey?"

"Oh, Lola? How are things there?"

"Everything is fine with me and Len, but..."

"What?"

"Rin... Every time she calls, she only talks with Len and never wants to speak with me..."

"You have to understand, Lola. It's normal for her to be angry, after all, you've sent her away from everything she likes…" the way Len said that made Lola fell like a witch. "Give the girl some time, she will calm down and will understand your intentions, but now, Rin is too immature, even to understand what she is doing wrong."

"Yes... I understand... But it hurts, it hurts to know that my daughter hates me..."

"Lola…"

"Let's change the subject. How are things there? Your new project, is everything going in accord with the plan?"

"Yes, everything is going perfectly fine..."

Len looked at the clock in his classroom. It was Wednesday again and he needed to go home, because Rin would call again. But still had some minutes for school to finish. With much effort, he tried to pay attention to what the teacher was saying and take notes.

"Len..." the boy looked to his side and realized it was Miki, "Rin gave news?"

"She's fine, Miki. You know I can only talk with her one time a week. She said she made a new friend, but don't worry because no one can replace you! She also said that if you keep asking how sh is she you hit you she she get out of there!" Len answered, smiling.

"Get out of there? Rin is coming back already?"

Miki's question awakened something inside Len. His eyes widened when he realized that RIn was always talking that she was going to leave that place soon. Could she be planning something? He could only pray that she wouldn't do anything idiotic.

"No, Miki. I don't think Rin is going to leave that place anytime soon."

Rin walked to the telephone's area snorting in angriness. That girl, Aoki, liked so much to annoy her and she couldn't do nothing to stop it, because she didn't want to get in trouble in that school, if she behaved, maybe she would leave sooner.

Aoki had listened a Rin and V-flower's conversation about Len and learned that it was to him that Rin called every week. The girl deduced that Len was Rin's boyfriend and decided to torment the blonde, saying that now that he was alone he probably was having fun with other girls.

Aoki's teasing really hit Rin, because the girl knew that nothing hold Len to her, so he really could have got a girlfriend while she was far away. Even Neru, since Rin wasn't there to stop it. She dialed the number and felt calmer when she heard the familiar voice.

"Rin?"

"Hi, Len. How are you?"

"Fine and you?"

"I'm fine. Miki keeps annoying you?" Len made a sound of denial, "Hm... Len… How has been your… Romantic life? Have you gotten yourself a girlfriend? You know, now that I'm here, no one will be afraid to approach you…"

"Wh...W-Wh-Wha-What?" by his voice, Rin could tell Len was really red right now, "I don't have anyone here, especially because the only person I…" Len stopped suddenly.

"The only person...?" Does that mean there's someone he likes?

"N-nothing… Rin, I need to go to my job now." Rin noticed he was trying to run away from her.

"Fine. Bye… Ah, Len, I… I love you," Rin said in an inaudible whisper.

"What?"

"I said that... I miss you."

"I miss you too, Rin. Well, I have to go now... Bye."

Rin hung up the phone and put her hand in her chest. Her heart was racing. God, what was that she just did? She was lucky Len hasn't heard her. She almost, almost ruined their friendship she tried with so much effort to keep. Friendship… How much that word hurt her.
