Chapter 16 – Len goes to the search

One week. It has been one week since Rin had went missing. Len arrived from work – Miku want to give him a break because of that, but he said he needed some kind of distraction – and found Lola sitting on the couch crying her eyes out. The woman dried her tears and forced a smile when she saw the boy.

"Good evening, Len."

"Lola..."

"I'm fine Len, don't worry about me. It's just that… It has been a week… One week without any news about Rin… I…" the woman started to cry again and Len didn't know what to do. He wasn't good at cheering people up.

Clenching his hands into fists, he looked up, determinate. Tomorrow, he would do something about this. He couldn't keep seeing Lola suffer like that. Many would blame the woman for what was happening, but she thought it was the best thing when she sent Rin to that boarding school. And Rin had also been childish, running away like that, she should have faced that problem like an adult she is. He would do something, for Lola and for himself, because he couldn't stay away from Rin anymore. Tomorrow. Tomorrow he would put an end to this.

Miki was going to school excited. Not because she was happy in going to school, but because she was happy that she could finally see her friend again. During this week that Rin was hiding in Gumi's place, she was visiting her every day and, apparently, the cops didn't seem to suspect her.

When Miki was going to enter the school's gates, someone grabbed her arm and she almost screamed, but the person clapped her mouth. She looked to her attacker and saw it was Len. He dragged her to the school's background, where he let go of her arm and she could finally talk again.

"Len? What happened?"

"Miki, where's Rin hiding?"

"What? What makes you think I know where she is hiding? What makes you think she is hiding? The police doesn't know if she run away or if she was kidnapped1" Miki tried to lie, but she was too nervous.

"Miki." Len's voice was low and threatening, nothing like the Len she knows, "I don't have time for kidding, tell me where Rin is hiding now!" And, strangely enough, Miki was afraid of Rin's extremely kind step-brother.

"S-She is hiding in Gumi's house!" Miki almost screamed.

How didn't he think of that sooner? Meiko had mentioned this Gumi before, this Rin's friend he didn't know. It makes sense that she is hiding in her house, it was less obvious that he would look for her there.

"Give me the adress."

Rin was sitting on the couch feeling extremely bored while Gumi was watching her favorite show on the TV. The two looked at the table when Gumi's cellphone started to ring. The girl of green hair took the phone in her hands and answered the call.

"Hello?"

She then held out the phone for Rin and whispered it was Meiko. Rin took the phone and took it to her ear.

"Meiko?"

"Rin, what happened to our deal?"

"Which deal?"

"The one where I would give one week and then you would go back to your house?"

"Ah, this deal. Meiko, is my mother convinced that I don't wanna go back to that school?"

"How do I know?"

"Then I'm not going back!"

"Rin, I'll give you two days to go back home, if in two days you don't go back, I'll tell that anonymous source told me that you're at Gumi's house and, in this case, you'll end up involving Gumi in trouble too!"

"... Fine, give me just too days to get prepared."

"Okay, I'm going." Then the woman hung up.

"Argh, my life is too shitty!" screamed Rin, throwing the phone on the floor.

"Hey, my cellphone!"

It had started to rain, but that didn't stop Len. He ran throught the street Miki had said, looked at the houses numbers, looking for the one that was written in that paper. Why does that street need to be so long? He felt the need to laugh. Rin was so close to him, but, at the same time, so far.

His wet clothes were glued to his body and sometimes he would feel the need to sneeze, probably he would caught a cold later, but the wish to see Rin was stronger. He stopped in front of a house and looked at the paper in his hand. Ninety-seven. Yes, that was the house.

Len approached the door and, taking a deep breath, he rung the doorbell. Who answered it was a boy of pink hair and Len almost turned around, thinking he was at the wrong house. Rin was hiding in this guy's house?

"Hi? Can I help you?"

"Hi… I'm looking for Rin…"

Yuuma remembered Gumi saying that if anyone came looking for Rin, he should call her or, if she wasn't home, he should say that he knows no Rin. But, since Gumi was at home, he decided for the first option.

"Gumi!" he called.

"Hi?" the girl approached the door. Len got angry, why was this guy calling Gumi? He wants to see Rin!

"This guy here..." Yuuma pointed at Len and whipered something in Gumi's ear.

"Can I help you?" Gumi asked Len.

"I want to talk with Rin…"

"Sorry, but there's no Rin living here…"

"Please! Miki told me she's here! Tell her that is Len!"

Gumi hesitantly looked at Len, he seemed pretty desperate. She was in doubt if she should let him in or if she should let him in the rain, but since she couldn't tell that he wasn't with the police, she decided for the latter.

"Just a minute, please..."

Gumi entered and stared at Rin, who stared back curious.

"There's a Len out there in the rain that wants to talk with you."

"W-What?" Rin seemed perplexed. Before Gumi could answer, Rin had already ran outside, "Len?" Rin said when she reached the front door.

"Rin!" exclaimed Len when he saw the girl, "I'm so happy to see you're fine! The police didn't know if had ran or if had been kidnapped, or even worse, dead… I was so afraid…"

Then, Len did something that surprised Rin, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her to the rain with him, tucking her into a tight hug that both of them seemed to be in need for too long.

"Rin, please, come back home..." Len whispered in her ear.

"I'm sorry, Len... But I won't." she Will, since she's being threatened by Meiko, but she wanted to know Len's real reason for wanting her to go back.

"Please Rin… I… I can't stay away from you any longer like this…" whispered Len again, hugging her even tighter. Rin's eyes widened.

Slowly, Len pulled back, only enough so they could look in each other eyes. They seemed to be hypnotized by each other's gaze.

God, Len... Could kiss me now... Rin couldn't stop thinking.

I want to Kiss her now so much, Kiss her as if there's no tomorrow, Kiss her until she… looses… her senses… Thought Len while his face leaned into Rin's, slowly.

"My God, wht is this huge sexual tension here?" shouted Yuuma, appearing at the door behind Gumi, who was watching the whole scene.

Len and Rin parted abruptly, their faces red like tomatoes, without being able to look into each other eyes. Gumi started to beat her boyfriend, yelling at him that he was an idiot for ruining a moment like that.

"Think about what I said, Rin... Please… Come back. Your mother is worried too…" said Len, turning around and going home, leaving behind in the rain Rin think about the kiss that didn't happen.

"My God, Len! You have a terrible fever! What were you doing in that rain? Now you've caught a cold!" said Lola to the boy laying on the bed, while she looked at the thermometer, "I'm going to make a soup and get you some medicines. Rest."

Lola went downstairs and while she was going to the kitchen, the doorbell rung and she went to answer it. When she opened the door, she got surprised to see who was at the other side.

"Atchoo!" sneezed the girl, "I am back, I have a cold and I need some medicines!"

"Rin!"

Kill him, Gumi! Kill him!

Rin is back now. Pretty fast, isn't it? Lol
