hey guys, I'm back and I'm sorry it's been so long! Who knew that A2s (the English qualification before degrees start) were so time consuming. Anyway I hope you enjoy and please leave a comment at the end. Cheers!

Lois had been driving for an hour now, relishing digging her teeth into pursing Superman. The traffic had been fairly bad, the roads being full of commuters miserably making their way to work. Her passenger, Jimmy Olsen, was getting more frustrated- his photographer finger was twitching and and he even resorted to taking a picture of Lois. She waved her hand at the flash, "Knock it off Jimmy. Focus on spotting Superman, he does move faster than a speeding bullet."

"Doesn't that mean that he'll be impossible to capture on film?" Jimmy pondered aloud, taking a quick picture of a sad looking hot dog vendor out of the open window. The shot could be considered metaphorical by some.

"Are you suggesting that you're not good enough for the job Olsen?" Lois teased, throwing a cheeky smirk at her passenger.

"No," Jimmy jumped to defend himself, "I'm just worried for the competition."

"If you say so James," Lois laughed, "I need coffee so I'm gonna swing back round the Planet."

"Yeah Ok. I'll check in with Chief to see if I'm needed on any assignments today," Jimmy mentally noted out loud.

Lois went to reply as she turned onto the long road that had her place of work at the end but was cut off by an explosion, scorching the Metropolis skyline, opposite her destination. The air seemed to stop, taking the city with it as the people filling the road paused to consider what to do next. Bizarrely only a couple of people panicked immediately- one hysterical woman swinging her SUV around erratically and crashing into a fire hydrant and popping it open. Wet witnesses of the explosion were already slowly being drawn towards the flames and their slight green tint until a voice seemed to bounce off every surface available, originating at the tower of embers. "Superman. I am here to right the wrongs that you have afflicted on the great city. Face me or watch as Metropolis, the place you supposed protect, is torn down by Metallo! Face me you murderous-"

Metallo broke from his speech as the air was forced from his lungs by Superman's shoulder as he finished his arc through the sky. The pair fell through the sky together, towards a building further along the road, before falling apart. Metallo continued straight onwards, tearing through glass steel and office desks while The Last Son of Krypton dropped out of the air and crashed down into the tarmac of the road. A wave of black shrapnel surged up the street and finally people began to see how much danger they were in. They began to panic; cars were abandoned as what felt like half the population of Metropolis fled from the crater towards Lois' car.

"Right then," Lois snarled with grit as she put the car into gear and stamped on the pedal causing her back tyres to wheel-spin, throwing dust and bits of concrete into the air. The building Metallo had crashed through groaned to Lois' left as she swerved at high speed around a car, losing control and slamming sideways into a truck. A loud bang blew out from the impact and glass sprinkled itself over her and Jimmy, slicing open their skin with little nicks and cuts on their arms and faces. Lois batted away the air bag that had pointlessly popped out and pushed her door open with force. "Come on," she shouted out to Jimmy over her ringing ears. The young man had fallen onto the ground in a daze and after struggling to get onto his feet was staggering about disorientated.

Lois sprinted down the now empty road, struggling to see through the smoke and dust and only just managed to stop herself from falling into the crater where Superman lay. The reporter stuck out her right arm, grabbing her photographer by the label of his purple shirt as his limbs flailed in lame attempts to prevent himself from going over the edge. "Thanks," he managed once he was balanced once again before taking a couple of shots of the gaping hole.

"Go and grab that cable that fell out of that truck when we crashed into it," Lois commanded, pointing back at the rope that had spilt out of the dented back doors.

"You realize that you crashed to car, not us," Jimmy joked, as he walked back.

"Hurry up Jimmy. I'm going down there," Lois informed him, looking down into the space.

Jimmy returned ten seconds later clutching the cable. "Why are you going down there? Shouldn't we be going to the explosion site?"

"Look," Lois pointed out a crumpled and still Superman, lying in the shade. "Superman needs my help."

Oliver stared at the sheet of paper filled pointless dribble that he had been creasing and un-creasing while he sat through a board meeting that had already lasted an hour and looked to be continuing for eternity. No matter how much training the young man had gone through, there was nothing that could prevent the boredom of an early morning meeting. The paper had already served its purpose in relieving his boredom slightly and he found himself thinking of Chloe. The blonde would just be arriving for work at the moment, probably dressed in a classy but sexy blouse and pencil skirt that had driven him crazy the last time he had seen her. Drifting away from the meeting, the billionaire settled his eyes on the Daily Planet as if it would bring him closer to the petite blonde.

Suddenly his pupils lit up as they reflected an explosion blocked the building that the world's most paper was printed in from view. The board members turned their heads in shock as the sound of the explosion reached the room a mili-second later. Rushing towards the window, none of them noticed that the CEO of Queen Industries had already left.

Oliver sprinted out of the door, rushing past panicked secretaries and hedge fund monkeys to the elevator. Once the doors had shut him in, OLiver slipped his comm of out his pocket and into his ear while typing the override code on the lift that would take him down to the ground floor at triple the speed. Once the doors had opened once again out into the lobby, the billionaire strode out and ignore his doorman's protests at him leaving the building. Once outside, he turned towards the smoke that he could see in the distance and he climbed into a car that was waiting for him, signalling for the driver to leave him to it. Now he was on his way to his headquarters, he put in the call. "WatchTower, do you read me?"

A voice braking out of Chloe's pocket woke her from her shocked staring at the state of her office. Her hand dove into her pocket and retrieved the comm that the Green Arrow had given her the night before. She thanked whatever silly thing that had prevented her from being able to leave it at her apartment; maybe a fear that she had dreamt the entire sequence with the Emerald Archer.

"WatchTower, I repeat, do you read me?" asked Oliver again as he pulled into the storage depot where he kept one of his many suits hidden around the city.

Chloe jammed the comm into her ear as she strode through a panicked floor of workers towards the lift; she didn't want the risk of being over heard. "Hearing you loud and clear Arrow."

"Thank god, I thought I was going to have to go it alone," Oliver sighed in relief as he got changed into his uniform. It was reassuring to have Chloe watching his back in case anything went wrong.

"You'll never have to worry about that again," Chloe promised him, trying not to think about the zipper on his clothes that she could hear being done up, tragically covering up his body.

Oliver stopped briefly as he took in her words. Don't read to much into it... "Glad to hear it Sidekick," he grinned as he swung his leg over his bike and started the engine. "What have we got here?"

"I'm not sure, it's not like anything I've dealt with before," Chloe admitted as she ran her fingers over her keyboard. She was camped out in a toilet cubicle, hardly high tech but it meant that she was unlikely to be disturbed- not many people, especially journalists, stop to take a toilet break in the middle of a crisis.

"Not sounding too promising WatchTower," Oliver grimaced as he weaved through traffic seamlessly.

"Take that back, I've hacked the police scanner and there are already reports of whatever this is already coming in, which is quick even for them. Arrow, whatever this is, it's dangerous," Chloe warned. "Do you think you're ready for this?"

"Doesn't sound like I have much of a choice," Oliver grunted, getting closer and closer to the site of the explosion.

"I've got into the CCTV cameras," Chloe stated as she watched the grainy images shift. "It appears to be a man masquerading as Metallo. I'm not sure how's he's doing it but he's flying and the flames don't look right. Even with the poor image quality I can see that the flames are the wrong colour."

"As long as he can be shot down, I can handle him," Oliver boldly spoke.

"Hold on Superman has arrived!" CHloe exclaimed as she watched Clark smash into Metallo's side an tumble out of the air.

"Look's like he'll be helping me o-"

"Jesus! Superman's down. Something's made him crash. And Metallo's taken out the Anglin Building. It doesn't look good," Chloe reported, trying not to panic as one disaster unfolded after another.

"I'm almost there. Who should I head for?" Oliver asked as his bike rounded the corner. Looking down the road, he could see the crater and the two damaged buildings to the right.

"Go for the buildings, there's someone climbing down into the crater," Chloe informed her hero. Is that Lois? Chloe pulled out her mobile phone and dialled, knowing that Lois would pick up the phone for her no matter what.

"Chloe! Oh my god, are you Ok?" Lois shouted down the phone.

"I'm fine. What are you doing going down that hole? It's dangerous," Chloe yelled back.

"How can you see me?" Lois questioned.

"I'm looking out onto the street, The Daily Planet has been evacuated," Chloe winced as she told her feeble lie.

"Right. Son of a, Superman's hurt. He's buried in this hole somewhere," Lois responded as she landed on the rubble covering the crater floor.

The only thing that can hurt Clark is Kryptonite... He needs sunlight. "Lois, get him out of there. He may be Superman but he won't be able to defend us if he's stuck down a hole," Chloe cringed once again as she lied through her teeth.

Lois finally spotted The Last Son of Krypton, crumpled in the rocks, his body half enveloped him in the Earth. She rushed to his side and looked at his face; it was a sickly pale colour. Cradling him in her arms, Lois struggled to pull his heavy form from the rubble. Finally his legs broke free and Lois stumbled back, watching in wonder as the sun basked across his healing face. The handsome young man breathed and blinked before sitting up, his cape pooled around him, and staring at Lois in shock. "Lois," he started dumb struck at her presense. "What are you doing here?"

"To help you kick that alien whatever thing's green but..."

Author's note: thanks again for reading and for your patience. I think this was one of my longest breaks but real life is a killer hahaha as always, I want to get this stuff out to you guys as soon as possible and this was that time!

So Metallo is finally here in full force and proving to be a great match for of hero. Also, Chloe and Oliver work together behind the scenes, helping him along the way. There's only more to come.

Onto reviewers, who not only inspire me to write but change my story dramatically as it unfolds so lend us your thoughts! Anyway, thank you to guest for reviewing. I love Perry too, on the show and in the comics amd Im hoping to sneak him in more and more into my story. Hope to hear from you again! And finally my fave person of them all: Flpirate305 :) I'm sorry it's not quite the extensive fight that you were hoping for but I'm hoping to sit down over my next week off (2 weeks time) and bang it out in out in a huge chapter. I wanted to do it sooner but life did this pesky thing of getting in the way... Argh to be a pirate! Hahaha Your thoughts always help me and I have you in mind when I write quite a lot of the time so thank you for the inspiration. Sorry, I've never been good at reading jokes in messages- like Robin from How I Met Your Mother says, I can never quite get the tone right. Also I like to think people are showing their best and true side all the time and therefore I doesn't occur to me they aren't being serious some of the time. (certainly not saying your sarcasm is a bad thing, I'm just dumb!) yeah actually that might just be me, I'm a sucker for the ladies from across the pond ;) I enjoy our little chats too and I hope you enjoy this chapter. Thanks again!

ill see you guys soon, hopefully more promptly than this chapter was. Cheers!
