I got my mother out of the restaurant as soon as possible. I payed the check (which was more expensive than I intended) and walked back to the apartment without making it look like my mother was wasted drunk. She kept babbling though. That's what she did when she was drunk. She babbled her ass off. At puppies, buildings, she would curse off the roller skater that she almost jumped in front of. We had one and a half more blocks to go. We could make it without completely embarrassing myself and her. That is until we walked right into Joe Moses and Tessa Netting walking down the street. To make matters worse. They recognized me.
"Anna? Is that you?" JoMo questioned coming to a halt in front of me.
"JoMo!" I sounded excited. To be honest I was. I only met him once before same with Tessa and for him to stop me on the street with my mom was quite an honor. But I was also freaking out because of my mother. "And Tessa!" I beamed at the both of them.
"You guys in town for your show coming up?" I asked curiously.
"No! I would love to," Tessa answered glaring at Joe, "But Joe and Curt aren't ready yet."
JoMo rolled his eyes playfully.
"So where's Walker?" JoMo was now asking the questions. Meanwhile my mother babbled to herself like a baby and Tessa looked at her testingly.
"Chicago you know how it is."
"How's the long distance working?" Tessa smiled innocently. God she was so adorable.
"It's going." I smiled.
We talked and eventually started fangirling with Tessa about Doctor Who and Harry Potter before we had to go our seperate ways.
"Okay well I'll see you around hopefully!" I called over my shoulder as I walked straight. They waved goodbye before I rounded the corner. It shouldn't be far now.
When we got home my mom was sober enough to conduct sentences. But not sober enough to know what she was saying in those sentences.
"I love you so much Anna, I have a great time with you." She kissed my cheek successfully.
"I love you too mom. How about you sleep in my room tonight. I'll take the couch."
My mom nodded sleepily in agreement. She went into the direction of my bedroom.
"Oh and mom?" I called before she left. She turned around. "Thanks." I smile softly at her My mom smiled back as a mutual understanding before she vanished into my bedroom.
The couch sucked. It was fine to sit in but to try to sleep for at least eight hours was nearly impossible. Finally after listening to some Jim and the Povolos was I able to fall asleep.
The next day I FaceTimed Joe when my mother wanted to go see the sights for her own that we missed yesterday. He was wearing a white tank and his Boston hat.
"Hey!" I greeted
"Heyyyy" he answered as he took a sip out a tall lemonade glass with an umbrella.
"What are you drinking?" I laughed.
"Lemonade Lo made. I feel so fancy!" He took another sip. "I think she snuck in alcohol." He whispered. I nodded and smiled. I was just surrounded by drunk loved ones aren't I?
"What number glass is that?"
Joe smiled and took another sip.
"My fifth. So how's the momosita?" He questioned.
"Fine," I answered "Took her out then saw JoMo and Tessa on the way home last night. She was drunk. Now she's sightseeing."
"You saw JoMo?! How is he!" He rested his head on his fists as he leaned forward all interested.
"He's good." I smirked. "He looks really happy."
Joe nodded taking in the news.
"Good. People like to be happy."
I chuckled. "Yes they do hey Joe how about you go take a nap and stop drinking that lemonade and I'll call you before I go to work okay?"
He grinned almost giving me a sloth smile.
"Okay. Byyyyeeeeeee"
I waved before we hung up. He was a happy drunk to say the least.
That night after calling how on the phone I headed to work. For now I was only waitressing but I hoped to one day regain my status back begin the bar. Every once in a while I would read over the audition lines making sure I had them memorized. My mom was only staying until the day after tomorrow and then I really had to get to work. I only had a couple of weeks left. I got tipped fairly that night. Not as good as a bartender though. Men will tip generously if you give them a drink. When I came home around 2:30 and to my surprise my mom was still awake. She was cleaning.
"Mom what are you doing?" I asked as I rubbed my eye.
"Waiting for you to get home. Look I was thinking tomorrow we could sightseeing tomorrow since its my last day. Now I know you've seen it all but I just want some pictures of me and my baby."
"Yeah sure mom anything." She practically skipped into the bedroom. I yawned and rested myself on the couch. That night it was much easier to fall asleep.
